Incredible service for awesome food! I definite must-try!

Food came out fast from the kitchen. Prices are excellent but something with about how they make their soft tacos makes them all taste the same no matter what is inside (e.g mahi mahi, tuna). The yogurt smoothie are bland and borderline bitter. I think this place has potential to try again down the road. read more

We dined at 8 pm and were immediately greeted by multiple staff members. Our server took our order great service. The nachos were delicious!! Although liquidy bc of the stew meat the chips were still crispy and fresh. This was obviously just prepared and brought to our table immediately. We devoured that so quick. We ordered the loco MoCo burger sweet potato fries sooo fresh toasted soft bun fresh juicy ground beef crispy hot fries. My banzai burger mouthwatering. Lemonade not from a can obviously freshsqueezed. We found a new go to place for a great meal. read more

This place is so good. I had the goofy burrito. It was perfectly seasoned and had a good crisp textire on the outside. The steak inside was so juicy and tender. I could've eaten it just on its own. My husband got the 2 surf tacos (mahi and tuna). They were equally as good. It sounds like they listened up about their chewy slaw issues because the slaw was very good. read more

I stopped at Surf House today for the first time. The service was quick, the wait staff helpful in deciding how to maneuver through the menu. Thanks H. Webb. I found the food to be delicious. It arrived in plenty if time to enjoy it without rushing back to the office. My colleagues and I will stop in again to examine other menu options. Even the lemonade was notable. I was surprised by the variety of food options. The food had a CA. / Hawaiian flare. Don't let the fact there isn't a sign out front stop you from sampling the food. I ate here about six months ago and the food and service were outstanding. I was impressed by the creative menu and excited to come again. This time I brought my family. The food was good--not exceptional--and lunch took one hour to arrive! This despite the restaurant not being busy. The service was good, but not great. We were so hungry waiting for our food to arrive that we wanted to order chips. It took us ten minutes to flag down a server. And then at least another ten for the chips to arrive. read more

Awesome addition to the area and VERY authentic. Real surf food with top notch seafood, healthy well seasoned dishes in a relaxed atmosphere. I can't wait to come here again. We had Mahi tacos, salad, lboulliabaise, burritos and coconut and banana desserts. The drinks are on point too and great beer selection. If I had any Cons- the desserts need to go up a few notches. Ate here for the first time today...lunch. The place immediately gives you a feeling of relaxation and really being at the beach. Bravo on the decor! The staff are all very friendly and everyone is smiling. Our waitress, Crystal, was awesome. Right on top of everything from refilling drinks to making sure we liked what we got! Joe, the owner/manager, made us feel like old friends! Came and sat with us and chatted and even sent some "freebies" to us as "malihinis"...newcomers!! The food was fresh, tasty and well portioned! I tried my first fish taco, my first crab taco, and possibly the best steak taco I have ever had!! Tom Seymour makes this restaurant an excellent experience. Draft beer is extensive and very good. This restaurant is fresh and lively!

Food was not as good as expected with the prices. $15 for a panda burrito and only had 3 shrimp and 2 pieces of tuna. Nothing special about it, and no side with it. For $15 I'd expect fries at least with the burrito. I was still hungry after it, so I ate my kids hot dog she didn't want from the kids menu. The bun was toasted on the bottom and had been sitting for a while since service was slow, which made the bun rock hard by the time it got to the table. My wife had chicken tacos she said we good. Just one word eh. I started with the calamari which the breading was good but the squid was chewy but overall a good starter. I then had the lava rice bowl which was also eh. The flavors where not the greatest but it the combination of ingredients was very good. It had good service and was a over all good place but does not deserve 4-5 stars read more

Highly over rated, very small portions and expensive!! Ordered the Fried Oysters and received 3 small oysters on a bun!!! I told the waitress the menu does not say oyster sandwich. She left with a blank stare. Service was slow. This place should be called a sandwich shop with some seafood that's all on a bread sandwich. read more

The food is great!! I've been to The Surf House about 5 times and every time I've been we've experienced terrible service. We had drinks at the bar and ordered nachos unfortunately it took 45 minutes to make and come out. They didn't make the nachos with meet. They still made us pay for the meal... read more

Staff was friendly. Restaurant was bright and clean. Got the burger and sweet potato fries, they were delicious.

I was very excited to try this place, and it did not disappoint! The decor outside and the atmosphere inside are very relaxed and beachy. Atmosphere doesn't help if the food is just ok, but the food here is even better than I expected! I've had a burger, tacos, and conch fritters, and everything has been delicious! I'm sure it gets busy some nights, but I've been several times and never had to wait for a table or wait long for my food. I've had different servers every time, but they have always been very friendly and attentive. I can't wait to go back! read more

Only went here twice so far one was before they opened to get there cooks experienced and once with a friend it is a pretty great restaurant with great burritos and deserts but my problem with it is that a lot of the menu items aren't being served anymore like there California roll sushi isn't served but on the menu read more

I have eaten there multiple times, everything on the menu so far has been delicious! The décor is attractive and the wait staff are friendly and efficient. Surf House is my Friday lunch destination. read more

One relatively small burrito,two taco's,chips and salsa and two iced tea's=$43.00 before tip.The place is pretty nice and the server was attentive but all of the food was meh.A better meal than this can be had at most places for around $25. read more

Tacos were amazing. Loved the taste of the rice and beans but the rice was overlooked.

First, you can't find the place because they don't have a sign up. What's up with that, are they too good for a sign. I almost left and I saw people walking in there and decided to ask if that was the restaurant. The service was not good and I felt I had attitude from the waiter. Portions are extremely small for the price, this is Urbana not Downtown DC. The food was very mediocre, not near the hype I read on these reviews. We will not be going there again. read more

Was so excited to try this place, I want to give it 5 stars but I don't think it is there yet, I think they just have to iron out a few things and then I'll be able to give it 5 stars. Some issues were(just trying to give helpful feedback) *Really wanted to try the conch fritters appetizers and we were there for lunch time, and they said they were out of fritters. *I ordered a shrimp taco, it was VERY bland. The sauce/aoili on top didn't have a flavor at all. It needs to have more flavoring to it. I actually didn't even finish my taco, I gave it to my husband who felt the same way about it. * My husband had the lava rice bowl with Mahi mahi. His complaint was the bowl was not big enough and there was only a tiny bit of rice in the bowl. His dish he complained of as well as being very unflavorful, bland and nothing to make you think wow this tastes awesome. *One minor complaint was the kids menu, I think it should come with a side of some sort,maybe fries or even their drink included in the price. Also maybe an option of a burger or something like that. There are only 3 selections and with little kids who can be picky, I just felt there could be one more option. *We also ordered 2 desserts which were very delicious,only downside was the price for such a small dessert. I'd be happier paying $4 for it, or the full price but served in a bigger size. Now to what we really liked about the place: *Great atmosphere, looks so cool and clean in there *Very friendly and welcoming staff *The big kahuna burger is absolutely DELICIOUS, no complaints there at all *The fries were delicious *The lemonade and like I said the desserts were absolutely delicious as well *Love the use of fresh, organic ingredients Totally would love to try this place again, and I'm excited for it and it's potential!!! read more

I met three girlfriends at Surf House in Urbana for dinner. The restaurant is so cute and we had a wonderful experience! We shared the Dragon Fire Chicken Dumplings appetizer and it was so tasty! I ordered the Fat Panda burrito which was absolutely delicious and all four of us raved about our meals! Our waitress was great too as were the cocktails and craft beers. Surf House is a little hard to find though as there was no sign on the building. I plan to make Surf House a go-to restaurant! read more
