When I do eat Caribbean food, this is the only place I go to, my favorite's are their doubles and veggie Pattie's!!!

I have been meaning to try this place. There is another Caribbean restaurant in the area that had been my previous go to until a few disappointing orders. Well looks like I've found my new spot. Everything was delicious tonight. I got oxtail, rice and peas, vegetable and sorrel drink. That sorrel was sooooooo good. Sweet and tastes like they added a bit of ginger. When I got home I was sad to share. Every component of my actual meal was delicious. The staff was friendly. I will definitely be back and have found my new local Caribbean spot. Bake and shark on point. I love and appreciate that they are made to order, so I don't mind waiting. Nothing beats that first bite crunch of hot fry fish. They are not stingy with the fish at all, it's stuff with shark. I get everything with pepper on it but you don't have to. The food here is consistently good here, doubles, curry goat etc. The only thing I don't care for is their macaroni pie and I wish the potatoes could be cut a bit smaller but other than that some great Caribbean food here with the flavor! read more

I usually order from here through DoorDash because the food is always amazing, so this experience was really disappointing. Tonight 4/14/2026 I ordered stewed chicken with greens and chickpeas with potatoes. The stew chicken itself was correct, but my sides were completely wrong. I didn't receive any greens at all, and instead, I was given what looked like Chinese food... like lo mein. I'm honestly confused how that even happens. Since when does Caribbean food come with lo mein? Missing items and incorrect sides really ruined the meal for me. Friday 10/13/2023 Heard about this spot from a friend at the gym who had high praise for it and luckily it was close by. The customer service was great. She was very patient with me and was helpful with what I should order. She let me sample a piece of the jerk chicken and gave me a jerk wing as a sample. I ended up getting the 4 jerk wings & 1 side (Mac n cheese) appetizer for $8.75. The jerk wings were solid and the Mac n cheese was decent. This is like a 5 plus review. Definitely worth making the trek here. I was craving Roti, and not many places can make it good. If you're familiar with Teddy's Roti on GA Ave. You'll be in good hands. This restaurant serves Trinidadian cuisine. My First time I ordered it via Uber eats, mannn .. I became instantly addicted. Their doubles is usually breakfast fare but I had it for a late lunch. All the flavors packed into that double. The chick pea medly so much flavor. I recommend ordered extra. Their roti!! Mannnnn the portions!! It's good. Coco bread good... It was my first time going Caribbean flavor and the food smelled so good. I been wanting to go to this restaurant I've passed the shopping center that its located in many times. So finally today I got a chance to stop. The restaurant was very clean seating was available the bathroom was also clean the menu was visible on the wall above. The ladies that was serving was very welcoming I purchased oxtails , cabbage also rice & beans. Everything had great flavor It was kinda pricey for the amount of food I was given. Pre-pandemic: patroned this eatery 3x, served by middle-aged female & young Trinidadian male, ~$30/visit, all fine. 4th visit: served by the sole later middle-aged Trinidadian-Indian male owner. I was shocked when this man used his serving spoon to remove 50% of what he had just put into their plastic (& terrible for the environment AND he has young children with his Jamaican wife; but I'm sure he'll explain to them that his $greed warranted NOT using recycled cardboard containers like, for example, Whole Foods & other local food establishments have been using for decades, right? ) to-go container which could have easily accommodated his original served volume & put it back into the serving tray. I guess I should say "thanks for the owner's low-class behavior & 0.5 serving spoon costed him a regular customer." There were no other customers to observe his behavior & I do Not think that was coincidental. BTW: this business blaring Caribbean music is classless to some but definitely desired by other patrons & I hope the male owner has a license to grill extra meat on the outdoor sidewalk with a sidewalk building overhang to sell, as I witnessed summer 2024. My rationale: if this is legal, why aren't far more food establishments grilling just outside their front door (while still under a combustible commercial building awning?). Also, there are a few establishments that grill outside their business but do so many feet away from any building & under the beautiful sky. Before anyone makes excuses for the blaring Caribbean music, Americans should learn the hidden motives of the Caribbean/Central American/Hispanic people who excuse this behavior & please learn the meanings of the actual derogatory & vocally violent lyrical phrases against women by many of these male & sadly, some female "artists." read more

I've had a mix of good and bad experiences here. Bad experiences range from food that isn't so great to the cashier double charging me and insisting that he's right that it didn't double charge me when my credit card transaction said otherwise. I had to call the credit card company to dispute my credit card. It's hard to get a receipt from them sometimes and I have to really push for it. Good experiences ranged from great food that was made on point and the manager being friendly. Overall, their food can be really flavorful and juicy when it's a good day. I've had good and bad jerk chicken with rice and peas from this place. The only flaw is it can be inconsistent at times and the price of the food can add up quite a bit. I'm giving them a solid 4 stars because good Carribean food is hard to come by in this area and I haven't found a better one despite my search attempts. read more

I was participating in a foodie event and the theme was Caribbean and I had to select any spot that served Caribbean food. I wanted to try places that I had never been before. When I got around to calling The Caribbean Flavor, Arnold answered the phone in a pleasant manner - just based on the conversation I had with him is the only reason why I decided to order from this spot, so I placed a curbside order. I ordered Curry Chicken Roti. Since my order was to-go, it was prepared as that - carry-out container had the curry chicken and potatoes separate from the chickpeas while the roti was wrapped in its own packaging. I also got a Beef Patty (labeled as neither mild nor spicy) and something called Doubles. My extras were a slice of Carrot Cake and a D&G Pineapple Soda. I first had the Doubles which is in a snack size dough (no bigger than the palm of your hand) and it is filled with curried chickpeas. This was so delicious, I wanted to order more of just that alone. I also enjoyed the Beef Patty. I had never really come across a beef patty that was neither mild nor spicy, so I was a bit hesitant to try it at first, but it ended up being just the right taste and it was that (neither mild nor spicy). The Curry Chicken was delicious, but it was a bit harder to eat everything in the roti itself, so I just ate everything separately. I will certainly try a different dish next time. Can't go wrong with the Carrot Cake or D&G Pineapple soda. I will certainly go back to this spot again. The treatment I got inside was so welcoming even though my order was to-go. read more

I've been to Trinidad and Tobago. I'm married to a trini, my in laws are trini so I feel like I have some street cred on what makes good trini food. This spot is LEGIT. We heard about this place from a fellow yelper and had to give it a try. We ordered to go, but there were several tables that you could eat there. We ordered the vegetable roti with extra pepper sauce, doubles with tamarind sauce and slight pepper sauce, a beef patty, and a side of curried shrimp. First the beef patty...clearly a homemade option that is 1000 times better than the ones in the box that you find in the grocery store. The crust was flaky and the filling was yumm-o! The doubles were true to the ones that I've had in Trinidad and subsequently since from several Trinidadians that have been nice enough to make them for me. The pepper sauce was spicy and flavorful. The curried shrimp had a curried gravy that I wanted to lick out of the container. Very very very good! Definitely something to write home about. The vegetable roti was HUGE. Everything about it made sense. It was hot, flavorful, filled to the brim with veggies too. All in all a fantastic place. My husband felt like he got the food from home. read more

I found this local Caribbean restaurant when I had to take my truck to the shop. Really friendly owner, I told him what I wanted and he let us try some goat curry. It was very good but Chicken curry in a roti was what I wanted. Spice level was medium and the roti was amazing. Lots of chicken and only a few bones but it's how roti is. The roti was just like being back in the islands, so good. We also ordered beef patties, which were so good and I love the pastry they use for this. Price was a little high but the food was so good. Really good small Caribbean spot in Gaithersburg. I haven't had much experience with Caribbean to really post about how great it is compared to other places, but I really loved their beef patties. My husband got the jerk chicken over rice, with chickpeas and plantains. I tried his food and was amazed! The flavor was so good...just enough spice and kick. I don't really care for chickpeas, but these were so good. The plantains were just right! The atmosphere is small, but comfortable... definitely a place that has potential for growth. read more

This place is absolutely outstanding. For $17 I got 4 jerk wings with a side of rice and peas, a chicken patty, and a double. The jerk wings were full of flavor with the perfect amount of heat and super tender. Rice and Peas were the perfect accompaniment. They didn't have any beef patties ready so I got chicken and it was fantastic. Good amount of filling and pastry was nice and flaky. The double was the shining star here. I got mine with everything on it which I highly recommend if you can handle spice, and let's be real, if you can't, why are you going to a carribean restaurant? This thing was jam packed with flavor. The baras were light and fluffy, the chickpea filling was seasoned well and the curry and chutney just amplified everything that much more. I highly recommend trying one of these if you haven't. There's no other way to say it other than the oxtails were horrible. They were large, super rubbery, with little edible meat. They were certainly not pressure cooked or even slow cooked on low heat to make them tender. Unfortunately I paid a lot of money for a double order (sob). I also asked if they had festival, a very common Jamaican fried bread, and the woman had no idea what I was talking about. Although the sign said Jamaican food, I can't really say that it was. The cabbage had more bell peppers in it than cabbage. I've never had cabbage at a true Jamaican spot that included bell peppers. Overall, very disappointing and a waste of money. read more

It's weird to leave a review even before I try the restaurant but in this case, I have to do it. 1) call the number on Yelp and a guy answers the phone stating that it's his personal cell. So why is it listed on Yelp for the restaurant? Or update the number on Yelp so that he stops getting the restaurant orders. He tone was rude. He texts me the restaurant number. 2) I call the restaurant number and the one who answers the call isn't a proficient speaker. Due to the background noise, I really couldn't hear her well. It's my f'ing first time calling the place an order and I don't know the menu and what's included. The lady rudely yells to call back when ready bc I have customers... oh wait what I'm not a customer???? Then I give her what I want she didn't get it right!!! Then she said the sides I chose are not side but have to paid separately!!!! They need to fix the the layout of their menu so it is clear to the customers. She yelled anything else, I said no and she hung up!!! So is my order taken or being prepared or what!!!! Well I guess I am going somewhere else lunch today. There's been a lot of posts for being sympathetic to small business due to covid, but coming out of the pandemic small business attitude and lack of appropriate professional customer service is rampant and annoying... not to mention over use of tips jars... that's not even related to the "quality service". I came up to the counter to pick up my already packaged food.. as one guy reopens them and starts to remove the contents out of the containers. He goes to say, "how do you know this is yours? DoorDash issued me a refund and I called the store to determine if they would be willing to wait for me to come pick it up. Well, I never got that far because the self-professed manager, Mollie (sp? she spelled her name so fast after dismissing me) saying they are closing and I should have ordered earlier. She offered no apology, only attitude and defensiveness. Can't give this place 5 stars, but they get a 3 because the owner (Trini) and staff are really nice people. I hope reading these reviews they will improve the quality of the food. 1. Roti, doubles, curry shrimp, and they were all great - stars 2. The stew chicken I've tasted better - 2 stars 3. All the items really need to be uncovered so customers can see. They remove the cover to tell you what is there, which takes up too much time. 4. The rice in general whether white or rice and rice and peas very mushy 5. Very small portions, 1/4 of the container is empty. My friend got the oxtail, and she was given like 4 small oxtails. 6. The so-called Trini Chinese left much to the imagination, the rice is just basic fried rice and the lo mein looked very mushy. Needs much improvement, but will definitely return for the curry dishes and that's it. I have tried to give this place my business, really I have. I have introduced others to it in hopes of keeping a Caribbean spot open in Germantown. Sadly, this is my final attempt. The food is not bad - not great, but not bad, but it's the ridiculously small portions along with the poor service that I cannot get over. I am not sure if the owner was just annoyed and over charged me or if they do not bother to update their prices online. There is no way that 3x $11.75 + $13.95 should total over $60. You cannot order through delivery service, and when I ordered online and went in, it seemed the owner was annoyed that I asked for my order. I can understand the wait, but the rude treatment is unforgivable. How can you ignore me and take care of everyone else in the line - including the person that walked in the same time I did with no apologies. Well, no worries. I really wanted to like this place but I simply cannot for the following reasons; I ordered two sides of macaroni and cheese, they only gave me one side which was very small and it was soggy, tasteless and inedible. The jerk chicken was dry and barely had flavour. The chickpeas and potato side they gave me was so little and had literally only two pieces of potato. The plantain was burnt. All things considered, I decided to call and ask to refund the macaroni. The lady that answered the phone told me that she doesn't know if I can get a refund because the owner doesn't get in till 6pm. Terrible customer service and bland food.
