Lo mein mixed into my Caribbean food I'm not sure when Caribbean flavor sold Chinese food

I usually order from here through DoorDash because the food is always amazing, so this experience was really disappointing. Tonight 4/14/2026 I ordered stewed chicken with greens and chickpeas with potatoes. The stew chicken itself was correct, but my sides were completely wrong. I didn't receive any greens at all, and instead, I was given what looked like Chinese food... like lo mein. I'm honestly confused how that even happens. Since when does Caribbean food come with lo mein? Missing items and incorrect sides really ruined the meal for me. Hoping they pay more attention to orders moving forward because this was not it.

Friday 10/13/2023 Heard about this spot from a friend at the gym who had high praise for it and luckily it was close by. The customer service was great. She was very patient with me and was helpful with what I should order. She let me sample a piece of the jerk chicken and gave me a jerk wing as a sample. I ended up getting the 4 jerk wings & 1 side (Mac n cheese) appetizer for $8.75. The jerk wings were solid and the Mac n cheese was decent. I had a pretty good experience at the Caribbean flavor that I would definitely recommend and return to.

This is like a 5 plus review. Definitely worth making the trek here. I was craving Roti, and not many places can make it good. If you're familiar with Teddy's Roti on GA Ave. You'll be in good hands. This restaurant serves Trinidadian cuisine. My First time I ordered it via Uber eats, mannn .. I became instantly addicted. Their doubles is usually breakfast fare but I had it for a late lunch. All the flavors packed into that double. The chick pea medly so much flavor. I recommend ordered extra. Their roti!! Mannnnn the portions!! It's good. Coco bread good... Beef patty could of been better,.it was over cooked but they'll make it up next time. Their BUS up shut!! Mannnn my friend was kind enough to little me have some. Get carry out. They are on Uber EATS. I Recommend ordering early because they sell out early. Im so happy to discover this gem.

It was my first time going Caribbean flavor and the food smelled so good. I been wanting to go to this restaurant I've passed the shopping center that its located in many times. So finally today I got a chance to stop. The restaurant was very clean seating was available the bathroom was also clean the menu was visible on the wall above. The ladies that was serving was very welcoming I purchased oxtails , cabbage also rice & beans. Everything had great flavor It was kinda pricey for the amount of food I was given. Compared to other restaurants that I have gone to in the surroundings area. But I'll return to try some other things on the menu.

I've had a mix of good and bad experiences here. Bad experiences range from food that isn't so great to the cashier double charging me and insisting that he's right that it didn't double charge me when my credit card transaction said otherwise. I had to call the credit card company to dispute my credit card. It's hard to get a receipt from them sometimes and I have to really push for it. Good experiences ranged from great food that was made on point and the manager being friendly. Overall, their food can be really flavorful and juicy when it's a good day. I've had good and bad jerk chicken with rice and peas from this place. The only flaw is it can be inconsistent at times and the price of the food can add up quite a bit. I'm giving them a solid 4 stars because good Carribean food is hard to come by in this area and I haven't found a better one despite my search attempts.

I was participating in a foodie event and the theme was Caribbean and I had to select any spot that served Caribbean food. I wanted to try places that I had never been before. When I got around to calling The Caribbean Flavor, Arnold answered the phone in a pleasant manner - just based on the conversation I had with him is the only reason why I decided to order from this spot, so I placed a curbside order. I ordered Curry Chicken Roti. Since my order was to-go, it was prepared as that - carry-out container had the curry chicken and potatoes separate from the chickpeas while the roti was wrapped in its own packaging. I also got a Beef Patty (labeled as neither mild nor spicy) and something called Doubles. My extras were a slice of Carrot Cake and a D&G Pineapple Soda. I first had the Doubles which is in a snack size dough (no bigger than the palm of your hand) and it is filled with curried chickpeas. This was so delicious, I wanted to order more of just that alone. I also enjoyed the Beef Patty. I had never really come across a beef patty that was neither mild nor spicy, so I was a bit hesitant to try it at first, but it ended up being just the right taste and it was that (neither mild nor spicy). The Curry Chicken was delicious, but it was a bit harder to eat everything in the roti itself, so I just ate everything separately. I will certainly try a different dish next time. Can't go wrong with the Carrot Cake or D&G Pineapple soda. I will certainly go back to this spot again. The treatment I got inside was so welcoming even though my order was to-go.

I've been to Trinidad and Tobago. I'm married to a trini, my in laws are trini so I feel like I have some street cred on what makes good trini food. This spot is LEGIT. We heard about this place from a fellow yelper and had to give it a try. We ordered to go, but there were several tables that you could eat there. We ordered the vegetable roti with extra pepper sauce, doubles with tamarind sauce and slight pepper sauce, a beef patty, and a side of curried shrimp. First the beef patty...clearly a homemade option that is 1000 times better than the ones in the box that you find in the grocery store. The crust was flaky and the filling was yumm-o! The doubles were true to the ones that I've had in Trinidad and subsequently since from several Trinidadians that have been nice enough to make them for me. The pepper sauce was spicy and flavorful. The curried shrimp had a curried gravy that I wanted to lick out of the container. Very very very good! Definitely something to write home about. The vegetable roti was HUGE. Everything about it made sense. It was hot, flavorful, filled to the brim with veggies too. All in all a fantastic place. My husband felt like he got the food from home.

I found this local Caribbean restaurant when I had to take my truck to the shop. Really friendly owner, I told him what I wanted and he let us try some goat curry. It was very good but Chicken curry in a roti was what I wanted. Spice level was medium and the roti was amazing. Lots of chicken and only a few bones but it's how roti is. The roti was just like being back in the islands, so good. We also ordered beef patties, which were so good and I love the pastry they use for this. Price was a little high but the food was so good. I wish I were in Germantown often, would be one of my spots!

Really good small Caribbean spot in Gaithersburg. I haven't had much experience with Caribbean to really post about how great it is compared to other places, but I really loved their beef patties. My husband got the jerk chicken over rice, with chickpeas and plantains. I tried his food and was amazed! The flavor was so good...just enough spice and kick. I don't really care for chickpeas, but these were so good. The plantains were just right! The atmosphere is small, but comfortable... definitely a place that has potential for growth.

Left to right: Jerk wings with rice and peas, chicken patty, and doubles.

This place is absolutely outstanding. For $17 I got 4 jerk wings with a side of rice and peas, a chicken patty, and a double. The jerk wings were full of flavor with the perfect amount of heat and super tender. Rice and Peas were the perfect accompaniment. They didn't have any beef patties ready so I got chicken and it was fantastic. Good amount of filling and pastry was nice and flaky. The double was the shining star here. I got mine with everything on it which I highly recommend if you can handle spice, and let's be real, if you can't, why are you going to a carribean restaurant? This thing was jam packed with flavor. The baras were light and fluffy, the chickpea filling was seasoned well and the curry and chutney just amplified everything that much more. I highly recommend trying one of these if you haven't. Get down to this place and thank me later.

Even though I don't like to back-track on my first impressions..I'll always give credit where credit is due. So I Ordered the curry chicken roti to go...and ole boy did not chinks me at all on da portions this time around... I also tried their doubles...(insert slow clap here)...totally yummy.. And Customer service was friendly of course... so y'all know da deal...definitely give this place a try!

I mean there was only another couple at the time I visited but also the food came out quickly so huge plus! And the restaurant is spacious and casual so enough space for large parties. Overall I enjoyed it but there are a couple things that fell short! I ordered the chicken roti platter. 1.The roti! It's a very small portion served in a small coconut shaped bowl compared to the amount of food you got on the platter. I thought more was coming and unfortunately it was balled up in shredded little pieces that were kind of dry and i couldn't eat it properly with my sides. I thought maybe I had a bad batch but my friend had the same portion and complaint. Unfortunately no pic of that. 2: Honestly the plating is meant to be aesthetically pleasing but it was very hard to eat bone-in chicken out of a bowl on a saucer full of more bowls with a knife and fork. It was better when I took it to go and had a plate at home. Please reconsider this for the diners experience. 3. The doubles was my fave! It's a small app but very delicious and had a slight kick to it.

By default it came with two pieces of oxtails but that was too much meat for me so I asked for just one piece and more veggies. My server was kind enough to do such modification for me. The oxtail was fork-tender, had lots of collagen, beefy, and had a distinct sourness. The pickled veggies (cucumber slaw & bell peppers) provided a different type of sourness and a hint of heat. Overall very good, though the flavors from the meat and veggies were so strong that I could not have a clear idea of the flavor of the coconut rice. Also, I wish there could be more jus because it went soooooo well with the rice! The second time was for dinner. Tried the Pepperpot, Crispy Kale and Hops. The Pepperpot was a stew of oxtails, cowheels and beef chucks. Very beefy and spicy, a little bit sour/tangy, and very earthy. The sauce was heavenly. It was served with a small bowl of coconut rice and 2 pieces of hops. The rice was a little bit sweet and salty. The hops were similar to dinner rolls, except that they were more dense and firmer. I thought the Crispy Kale was like fried cabbage in soul food but it was literally fried -- so it was very crispy. Too oily for me. I like the mango chutney, though. Service was good and quick. While the restaurant is very small, reservation does not seem to be difficult, especially for lunch. There were, however, lots of online orders.

Sometimes they play music in there, and sometimes they don't -- I wish they'd play it all the time, because otherwise it can get oddly quiet in there. As for the food... 90% of the time I go is for their Sunday buffet. It's less than $30 for an all you can eat (AYCE) that includes plantain, chicken, fish, desserts, and some fantastic vegan dishes that are labeled as such. They have a whole vegan menu, in fact. And it's lovely to see all those on top of traditional Trinidadian options. When they first opened, they only served doubles and certain other things on weekends -- not sure if that's still the case, but they had signage to indicate that. By the way, I love their doubles. The buffet is the perfect way for me to unwind on Sundays, but I should try exploring other times, haha. I ordered the curry crab legs with the side of mac and cheese, and the oxtail with the side of rice and lentils. Both dishes were amazing. The curry sauce for the crab was tasty and flavorful. The crab legs were steamed well and perfect when dipped in that luxurious sauce. The oxtail was fall off the bone tender and paired perfectly with that flavorful rice and lentils. We would definitely order from this food truck again. Service was kind and hospitable. Food came out at a reasonable time, especially with so many orders at the same time!

This food truck came to our building today. Since we never have had food from Trinidad and Tobago,…read morewe decided to give them a try. We knew that food from that region can be spicy and we knew that we would like to start with something tame. After looking at their menu board, I decided to go with fried chicken wings with a side of potato salad. My husband ordered pineapple chicken with a side of rice and peas. The people who work the truck are friendly and gladly answered any questions we had. It didn't take long to get our food. When we got the food upstairs, instead of getting fried chicken wings, I ended up with fried chicken tenders. Also, we were both surprised to see that each dinner comes with a small, undressed salad which consists of iceberg lettuce, red onions and a slice of tomato. They give out some sauces/dressings and I chose the one that wasn't spicy. As it was described to us, it was supposed to be "tingly". Okay...well...it was a thin sauce with a little bit of kick to it. I put it on my salad and it worked well with it. I found the chicken tenders to be on the dry side but certainly edible. My husband's pineapple chicken consisted of fried chicken tenders with a pineapple sauce that was simultaneously sweet and spicy. He enjoyed the sauce, and, thus the chicken. The potato salad had sweet undertones to it and had some peas and corn in it. I enjoyed this unconventional version. My husband liked the rice and peas, even though it was on the dry side. The peas were actually pigeon peas, which we both liked. My husband was pleasantly surprised by the food and said if this truck comes by again, he would gladly order from them. I, too, agree but now know to add the pineapple sauce to my chicken.
