As a Persian, this is hands down the best Iranian restaurant in the DC metro area. Every single dish SLAPS. The service is incredible and every time I go, the experience is better than the last. I can't wait to go back

Place is packed w people dining in and others lined up outside waiting for tables. I'd have to say, first thing that came to my mind, wow what a nice big smile w such white teeth of the owner. Proteins are tender. Salmon is flaky flavorful. chicken is juicy tender burst of flavors. Ground beef is tender as well. They ran out of leg of lambs. I would like to dine in next time.

Came here for a late lunch, around 2:30 pm on Monday. Expected the place to be quiet, but more than a third of the tables were occupied. People seem to really like it. We were invited to choose our seats. When we sat, a server brought over a large bottle of ice water and a holder with fresh (warm!) pita bread, butter and minced hot pepper. Nice touch. We ordered Kashke Bademjan (eggplant) as an appetizer. It also was served warm and was delicious. A nice sized portion for sharing. I ordered the Ghormeh Zabzi and my partner got the Lamb Shank. I enjoyed my entree. The beef was tender and the combination of herbs/spices were tasty and not overpowering. The portion of entree was pretty big, so more than half of the entree and rice came home with me for later. The lamb shank also was very good, as was the rice accompanying it. The service was good. The restaurant is well lit and welcoming.

I've been missing Yekta as a site down restarant. And decided to meet up with some friends for lunch. First off the staffers very friendly and helpful with the menu. We asked if the dishes were large enough to share and our server Amin said definitely can be shared as the portions are on the larger side. The eggplant appetizer was so flavorful, and I loved that they had sumac on the tables. Seating was a bit on the tight side, but I think they are trying to maximize number of tables.

We had a great time. It is very, very busy and they do not take reservations in a very small place. The service is very quick. The owner is very customer service oriented to make sure everything is OK. I ordered the chicken kebab, which was excellent my fiancé ordered the lamb chops. I will say the lamb chops need more seasoning but the chicken kebab is amazing. We ordered the stew as an appetizer that had a very lemony flavor. A place was packed. We definitely will go back. If you go later in the evening, you're more likely to have a table.

I have been wanting to eat at this Persian place since it opened on the Pike not too long ago. The kabobs and lamb chops do not disappoint. We asked the waiter for recommendations and he told us they are famous for their kebabs. We had two entrees: the Viziri plate which is a skewer of kobedeh and a skewer of chocken breasts. They were the most tender and well marinated meat. We also had their lamb chops. Again extremely tender, meaty and great grilled taste. The kabobs entrees all come with a Big pile of rice pilaf, a grilled half tomatoes and some raw onions. We also tried their homemade yogurt drink which for me tasted like drinking salad dressing! But I am sure it's only because I am not used to savory yogurt drink. The restaurant serves halal dishes and no alcohol. The place is small with the biggest tables seating 4s. The space gets crowded between tables when it's filled with patrons. Service is efficient. It usually has a line waiting during dinner times so go early or order takeouts. Not entirely sure it can accommodate family with small children who need high chairs. I would go back to try their many things on the appetizers list. The kabobs are a 5 star rating.

Last Sunday, I wanted to happily buy a cake for Mother's Day but after I already paid as price tag was shown. The owner suddenly came over and said there was an extra charge because it was a "Mother's Day Special" . Apparently "Special" means rising the price by surprising their customers. Honestly, if there's a holiday surcharge, I would truly understand! But it should be clearly stated before payment -- not after. Very disappointing experience. I only bought it because my mom loves mango cake, but I definitely won't be coming back again I am pretty certain that you're not allowed to raise the price on an item already paid for. It's not the money. It's the principle. This is unethical.

The tofu steam bun -- easily my favorite lunch item in the area -- really didn't work. It's still an interesting experience but I really can't recommend a place I now avoid. --- PROS - Interesting selection, interesting food, lots of options, overall friendly staff. - Bathrooms were clean. The interior of the restaurant seemed like a good meeting/date spot. Although they had Wifi, I wouldn't call this a great place to come and study or get work done, although I saw people doing that. I've had the Vietnamese coffee twice, the first time was great, the second time was just okay. Food items are very unique, so much so I didn't like some of them but I still enjoyed the experience. Try something that sounds weird, it's half the fun of coming in here. CONS * Allergies - it wasn't clear what all everything was made with so if you're trying to avoid gluten or peanuts or eggs, I didn't see much on ingredients. I know for some people that's a red flag. * The tea. We just thought it was above average but not amazing. I mean its right in the name, come on. * Collecting items - you gotta look for the little trays and the salad tongs. That's what you use to grab stuff out of the cases. I know for most people that was super obvious but it wasn't for me. * Summertime note: during the hotter months I've noticed they seem to have some issues with keeping things cool.

One disappointment was when the counter person asked me if I wanted room for cream in my coffee, I said yes and asked if they had nondairy products. She said they had almond and soy. I asked for soy and she returned with my drink. When I went to pay, I saw they charged 79 cents for almond, soy and oatmilk. Ok. Here's the thing. I assume it's on the board and I should have looked, but she also could have mentioned it. Also, charging for these items when they put a little in your coffee leaves me feeling like I'm being abused for not being a dairy person. I get it - it's a pastry shop and the items are buttery and rich from cream. But please - 79 cents for a little soy milk? (I know this isn't uncommon for coffee shops, but it doesn't make it right.). And the coffee ($4.25) was decent - not great. I expected better (richer, more flavorful) coffee from a nice pastry shop like this. Anyway, it's a nice neighborhood place and there's a lot of treats there.
