Our kids got my husband and me a gift card for Christmas for Sur La Table for a cooking class. I was a bit surprised, because, frankly, I am very proficient in the kitchen and probably could teach a few of those classes myself. (I have been cooking since I was 9 and come from a family of professional chefs and home cooks. I even grew up working in a few restaurants that my mom owned.) While hubby's cooking background isn't as vast as mine, he is very skillful in the kitchen. Anyway, we were promised a "memorable experience," so we picked a "date night" dim sum cooking class. We have lived in South Florida for almost 30 years and often visit friends in Boca, but had never been to Mizner Park. (And we're heading there again next week for a food tour.) We really liked the vibrant location. The class is held inside a Sur La Table store that features cooking gadgets beyond belief, including the price tags. Anyway, in our class we learned to make two kinds of dumplings. Potstickers were fashioned from premade wrappers. And we also made soup dumplings with dough that we created. Although we added some garlic and onions to small bowls of meat, they were already prepped and we were never told what kind of meat was in the bowls or what else was used to season it. Plus, I expected us to do all the seasoning and prep ourselves. One of the four of us at the table was invited to the stove to sautee some bok choy with garlic. It was already chopped and ready to be cooked. There was milk tea that was made and placed in front of us. Although we used a few different sauces (chili oil, soy, etc.), they too already were prepped and in containers. Once we put our dumplings into the steamer, we had 20 minutes to kill while they cooked. So, we were sent to browse the store with a promised 20% off clearance items and 10% off anything else in the store, as well as future classes. I expected more hands-on prepping and a lot more information about the ingredients we were using. However, it was a pleasant 2 hours. We shared a table with a young Indian couple and enjoyed their company. And we gleefully ate all the dumplings and the bok choy we had cooked. The instructor, Sheena, was extremely amicable, but the class itself just didn't have a lot to offer us. If you're a beginner in the kitchen, you may find this kind of class more suitable. And it is definitely more fun if you go with a group of four and have your own table (as we noticed with two other groups). But at $198 for the two-hour class, my husband and I would prefer to go to a really nice restaurant, where someone else will cook for us and we can get great service and enjoy delectable food. P.S. A few days after the class and after I posted this review, I received an email with the recipes and details about the ingredients. Some of this information should have been provided during the class.

Beautiful store with high end kitchen appliances and offers a group cooking class. We tried to reserve a space for today but every block was sold out. We did get a chance to try German coffee at their coffee bar from one of their baristas who also gave us info on a coffee class for $50 that was interesting. The steel pots and pans were expensive but the quality was awesome. Fun staff and great spot in Mizner Park.

Celebrated our anniversary taking a cooking class at Sue La Table. For years, I have walked by and seen people looking like they were having a fabulous time taking one of their classes. So when my husband and I were trying to decide where to go out to eat for our anniversary, I suggested we come here as a fun activity and dinner. You're permitted to bring your own wine or drinks. I suggest wearing comfortable shoes because you will be standing the entire time you're there. The cooking tables are set up for four per table. We were paired with another couple and they were quite fun. Our cooking instructor was very knowledgeable and she made the class a joyful and unique experience. We made pasta with shrimp in a fra diavolo sauce. She also showed us how to make a lovely tomato and mozzarella salad, grilled and stuffed summer squash, and we ended the evening with a custard with fruit dessert. There was plenty for us to eat, and honestly, we were full at the end of the class. Upon conclusion of the class, they will provide you with a generous coupon to use in the store. The people who work here are very friendly and knowledgeable, and we took advantage of the discount. We had so much fun that we definitely plan to go again. If you have any dietary restrictions, you might want to call the store in advance before booking to see what adjustments can be made for you. The cooking classes are a great date night, celebration, or girls night out.

I was gifted a cooking class for an engagement present and love it! There are so many different classes/menus to choose from and they all looked good. We chose a class with butternut gnocchi and steak. We had a table to ourselves and all of the ingredients were already portioned out. It was a good mix of actually cooking and not having the responsibility of doing it all or cleaning up after. I also liked that the teacher would come around to the tables and share some tips in a one on one setting. The food was delicious, and I was happy that they shared the recipes in the end so I can make it at home as well. Tip: It's BYOB and there is a wine store in the same plaza. They will provide glasses and corkscrews.

TLDR- a great experience to do with your partner, loved ones, and friends! I decided to take up baking as a hobby and I thought why not start with a class at sur la table. The classes are quite expensive starting at $99 but the experience of meeting new people and learning new things is priceless. The chef was friendly and knowledgeable which was nice as making crossiants is not easy! We were able to eat our crossiants and take some home. They also offer 10% off your next class if you sign up when the class is finished. If you want to learn to cook/bake and want to do it with people who have similar interests, this is a great way to do that! It's also great for a date night or an outing with friends. Highly recommend.

CHEF RED ALERT... This is a full fledged cooking store for the amateur or professional chef. They had a beautiful cutlery section at the rear of the store. They offer a cooking class in a full operable chef's kitchen with day and evening classes. Kids, teens and family orientated classes too. Also, Sushi making and French night. The classes are from $99 and up.

Chef Lane and the sous chefs were absolutely amazing! My wife and I cannot wait for our next culinary adventure at Sur La Table!

Took my girlfriend to a cooking class for her birthday. Not the first time she's done this with them, but my cooking class experiences were with other companies. We were looking forward to this evening, and the head chef for our evening was very pleasant and knowledgeable. However, the quality of the food, most specifically the steak, was terrible. The steak chef stressed that you need a well seasoned cast iron griddle and that the steaks shouldn't be touched until they're ready to be easily flipped, otherwise it will look grey. Despite his lesson, he continued to peel the steaks while they were sticking to the griddle, clearly not well seasoned and going against his own advice. When they served us the steak, it was chewy and disgusting, I couldn't put down a single bite. Our main chef agreed, the quality and output is not up to their standards and she encouraged us to tell the store manager. We weren't asking for anything, just wanted to give our feedback, yet she was just defensive about it, saying that we pay for the experience and the lessons, not the quality of food. For $200, I would expect our meal to be edible. I called and gave my feedback to corporate, someone said that I should expect a phone call to discuss further. This was over a month ago, and I haven't heard from them. There are plenty of other places that offer the same experience, I'd check them out before trying Sur La Table

Enjoyed a recent cooking class making traditional Portuguese dishes. Chef Layne was personable, knowledgeable, and just plain FUN! Food tasted wonderful and brought back fond memories of past visit to Portugal. What a great "date night"!

I've always wanted to do a cooking class and their online portal was super easy to navigate and book. Fun facts: It's BYOB and you can't take home any leftovers. I went with a friend of mine and there was another couple there - so just 4 of us. It was a weekday evening so maybe not the most popular time but I liked that it was small and intimate. Our instructor and 2 assistants were very down to earth & willing to answer questions. I felt very comfortable. We did the Mediterranean Meets Moroccan class where we did a carrot salad, tabouleh salad and shrimp in chermoula sauce. Everything was delicious and I walked away learning about new ingredients like preserved lemons & harissa. They give you a break in between where you can shop in the store and use a discount since you're in the class. During the class you use a lot of the tools they sell so trust me you'll buy something.

I was given a gift card enough for two Sur La Table classes as a birthday present and I cannot recommend this experience enough! I took the Date Night: French Elegance class as well as Steak: The French Way! These classes were a wonderful hands on learning experience for things I was more afraid to try on my own like making choux pastry or cooking scallops! Even though I went by myself both times I made wonderful friends at both classes, everyone was very friendly and ready to learn! The chefs were friendly and knowledgeable, and they even brought more veggies over for me to chip to practice a more advanced cutting method, which I quite appreciated!

This store in Boca Raton is one of their 10 stores located in Florida and over 100 stores nationwide (130?). It began in 1972 in Seattle. It's now owned by an investment company in Bahrain. And this past week was the first time I'd ever been in one of their stores. My friend and I had had lunch in Mizner and we decided to "walk off lunch" by browsing the stores. She was looking for a special chocolate for a recipe and I decided to tag along while she bought it here. She's a regular shopper at the store. Unfortunately, they were out of what she wanted, but I did get a chance to browse in the meantime. The store is not large, but it's easy to navigate the aisles and is packed with items. They have all sorts of cookware and bakeware and gadgets along with the latest machines -- from coffee to pasta. I loved looking at some of the unique utensils and fun tools for the cook who has everything. Got lots of gift ideas, too. There's a small section with high end quality ingredients -- extracts, flours, spices, etc. It is located in the back left corner. Upfront, when you enter the store, is a separate area for their cooking classes. They offer all sorts of classes and have a full published schedule. Prices for their classes seem fairly reasonable ranging from $59 to $89. And you even get to eat your creations! This would be a good gift idea as well. Even if you're not an accomplished cook or looking to buy a new set of pans or the like, you might just want to stop by and admire the neat hardware. It was really a fun place for us foodies and wannabe chefs.

Best bet is to get very fair priced but excellent kitchen wares from a reputable store like The Restaurant Warehouse. As far as I can tell, the store specializes in providing supplies for restaurants; everything from pots/pans to deep fryers and condiment bottles to glassware and knives, even everything a pizza shop could ever dream of. But at the same time, everything a person needs for their home can be purchased here too... We got tired of buying thousand dollar sets of pots/pans from Caphalon... and the sets always include numerous pieces that are too small to be useful and always lack the over-sized that we need (we cook BIG). We ended up purchasing all new pots/pans here a couple weeks ago and got all the "right" sizes and types of pans we needed, including the over-sized we needed and only got the smaller ones that we actually wanted. The guys at the shop were patient in assisting us and never pressured us into buying more than we needed or extra stuff we won't use. We've even returned to check out some other things and now are buying mixing bowls. Everyone here provided top notch customer service.

And it's OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!!!! Not just for chefs. Yayyyyyy. Fast forward to 2021 and I had asked my chef friend for a recommendation on a place to get my Henckels knife set sharpened. He immediately suggested Culinary Convenience and told me to ask for Aaron Michaels who is the owner. Well, this convo was about 6 month ago as I slacked and never made it here. I had to drop someone off to Ft. Lauderdale Airport and was heading to a local coffee shop when I drove by this store and remembered the name and realized it was the chef supply store I've been dying to visit. Funny how things work. It's a cool store with dreamy chef and kitchen toys galore. I swear I took about an hour just strolling through the store taking my sweet time admiring everything. They have EVERYTHING!!! Chef's uniforms, shoes, aprons, bakeware, pots, pans, knives, serving dishes, the small stuff, the big stuff...just EVERYTHING! I asked questions and started talking with Allison. She was very friendly and helpful. I was mesmerized by the Breville Smoking Gun and have been eyeing this for years now. I really want one. The one they had at the store is a professional grade one, not like the one you see at Williams-Sonoma or Sur la Table. She noticed I was curious and asked if I wanted to see a demonstration. Heck yes!!! She showed me step by step how to use it and it was ridiculously cool. Yes, I still want one!!! Ha. I inquired about knife sharpening and got more info on that. I also started looking at the Japanese knives as I've been wanting a really nice Japanese chef's knife too. They had a beautiful selection of gorgeous knives. I've been wanting a Damascus style Japanese knife. Allison helped me by answering all my questions. She pulled out the MIyabi and Kikuichi knives. The Miyabi caught my eye. I love the design and simplicity. It's a sexy AF knife!!! They didn't have the Miyabi chef's knife I wanted but said they were currently on order. A gentleman who noticed I was having a hard time deciding on the knives told me the Miyabi is a wonderful option and introduced himself as Aaron, the owner. I said hi and told him the story of my friend who initially sent me here. Aaron knew exactly who I was talking about. We started chatting about our mutual friend, the hospitality industry, how he started his business and a funny story about his brother. Aaron has a very enthusiastic vibe and energy about him. I love his excitement when he talks about things. He was down to earth and so fun. He even pulled out his phone to take a selfie of us to send to our mutual friend. Funny too because I was thinking about doing the same thing. Haha. Needless to say, I really had a wonderful experience at Culinary Convenience and I may end up spending too much money here. I eventually came back because Allison called me the next day to let me know the knife I wanted arrived after I left the store. I came back a few days later and bought the said beautiful sexy AF Miyabi Japanese knife. And brought my knives in to get sharpened too. I also met Kieran, the store manager, who was also very helpful regarding my knives that needed sharpening. Bottom line, excellent spot for all your kitchen needs. Be careful, you might go browsing and leave with a gorgeous Japanese knife. Haha. It's not a terrible thing either. I'm madly in love with my knife. Huge difference even cutting veggies and herbs. Go check it out ASAP! You won't regret it. Thanks Aaron, Allison and Kieran for the amazing customer service. I need to come back for that Breville Smoking Gun, because everyone needs one of those right?
