I'd never been to BJ's Wholesale Club before, but when I saw a Groupon offering a one-year membership for $13.50 (including my husband), I figured it was too good to pass up. Walking in, I wasn't quite sure what to expect or how their coupon system worked. We ended up leaving with a nice haul--tissues, snack bars, salmon, shaving cream, and a handful of other household staples. Before shopping, I downloaded the app so I could take advantage of the coupons and also picked up my physical membership card. As it turns out, you really don't need the card at all--the app has everything you need at checkout. The only thing that left me scratching my head was the coupons. I assumed the deals labeled "clip coupon" were the only ones that required clipping, but apparently that's not how it works. It felt a little more complicated than it needs to be, so hopefully it makes more sense after a few visits. Overall, it was a positive first experience. The store was well stocked, checkout was easy, and everyone we interacted with was helpful. Whether it replaces Costco for us remains to be seen, but I'm definitely willing to give it a fair shot over the next year. As for the gas station, it's not close enough for me to make a special trip, but if I'm already in the area, I'd certainly consider filling up. For $13.50, I think joining was a great deal, and I'm looking forward to seeing what other bargains I discover throughout the year. Time will tell for sure what my real thoughts are! The store was large and clean and aisles have labels. The bananas and cabbage seemed well-priced. Not everything is a bargain. This new location is convenient and they sent a promotional flyer that said (in large red writing), "Join for $20, Get a $20 Reward" "It's Practically Free!" - so we decided to check it out. This was our first experience with BJs. Our first stop, the member desk: At sign up, we were told at renewal the fee will be $60. We didn't get our $20 and it was unclear when we would. The cashier told us they'll give us $10 now if we download the app. So, we spent about 10 minutes getting the app set up. Unlike at Costco, they have a coupon book. You won't get the discounts unless you physically cut out coupons or select them in the app. When we got to the register to checkout, there was no $10 coupon to be found in the app. Note: present either your card or the app. If you want them to check something on the app, they have to start over if you gave the card. Also, as I had physically clipped the coupons, I didn't need to go back and select them in the app. In the end, the staff were all patient and nice and the manager gave us $10 off (we spent close to $200). Shopping here, having to clip coupons and their misleading advertising, wasn't ideal. Now that I am a member, I may go back if something I need is on sale or if I ever get the $20. read more

I was excited to have this new store open so close to home, but after walking around a bit, I decided it isn't for me. The store is organized, well-stocked, and the prices are decent. They stop cooking their rotisserie chickens at 5pm, so when I arrived closer to 6pm, the shelf was empty, except for one remaining chicken. I was a bit disappointed, as this is the only item I would be buying on a regular basis. I was looking for a store that would be convenient to grab a chicken on my way home from work. I think the membership fee is only fifteen or twenty dollars, so well worth it, as it's a nice store. Lots of parking too, so I do recommend shopping here. As for me, I'll still be going to Joseph's for my rotisserie chickens. read more

Stopped by the deli and was promptly served by Deli Lead Malik. He was pleasant and professional, having been there since the store opened in January. I recommend trying the El Toro Serrano Ham for a tasty treat! Great location to do you BJ's grocery only shopping. read more

Love that a BJ's opened not far from me... much closer to me than Boynton. This is a new concept for BJs, a bit smaller than their regular clubs, called BJ's Market. It's just the 2nd one they've opened in the country. Pretty much has the same items as a larger clubs... all the "market" items, but doesn't have electronics (TVs, computers, etc.). No tires, gas, etc. Really makes no difference to me... has the items I usually buy here. Don't get the idea its a small place. It's very large. If you didn't know, you'd think its a full BJs... unless you were looking to buy a TV! For the opening they had a booth out front passing out Hot Dogs... a fun idea. read more

Thought that we would give you a chance since opening in Delray. For the most part your prices are equivalent to and in some case higher then your local competitors. Where I really have a problem is that a lot of your produces are consistently close to expiration dates and your produce has been past prime with some needing to be thrown out. Lots of mold in your sealed containers of berries and citrus very low quality. Your store is like a ghost town every time we visit Now I know why. Looks like you're not going to survive. read more

This was a pleasant experience in checking out BJ's new smaller concept market. Parkland is my normal home spot, but this was en route to my destination to avoid the 5pm I-95 rush hour madness. They opened this in a perfect "intermission" spot.   It has everything that I typically get in a more snug and modern format. Nice grand-opening vibe -- the staff is very welcoming and friendly. Another Costco imitation poorly executed. Easy to enter, difficult to exit. Self checkout lane equipment screws up and requires assistance. Cashier unfriendly, unprofessional, and whining about "just doing my job" (and very slowly) while demanding personal information to pay. Door security singled me out to unpack everything carefully bagged and count everything against the receipt while waiving others through. And whose jackhorse idea was it to overbuild a Roomba to roam the isles disruptively whistling and faking a semi-intelligent robot and block customers? Simply done poorly, making Costco look the king of membership stores. I accept your apologies, when forthcoming, for being a regrettable train wreck. read more

BJ's Wholesale Club just opened a grocery only store in an old Winn Dixie store. Very nice store, well laid out. Naturally , it is very much like a Costco or Sam's but only grocery store items. read more

Save yourself the headache. We were loyal BJ's members until their in-store "Approved Partner," Renuity Operations, cornered us near the exit, pushing a hurricane door deal with a promised 75%/10% discount that mysteriously vanished from the signed contract. Renuity's own fake "BJ's" customer service line told us to go back into the store, where the manager was just as stuck as we were and had to call Renuity herself, visibly annoyed that her store keeps having to clean up its mess. We canceled both the project and our membership. Months later, my elderly dad wanted to come back since BJ's is easier for him to navigate than Costco -- we offered to pay full price for a new membership, no discounts asked -- and were flatly refused by a rude employee who accused us of trying to scam BJ's out of a new-member discount. Turns out there's no such policy -- BJ's own help site confirms you can rejoin anytime with no waiting period. We called Member Care to sort it out, and the rep doubled down on a "365-day waiting period" she couldn't explain, then said we could actually join right away with a different email address. So the whole thing was a glitch nobody bothered to explain to us, or to her. The irony of being treated like the criminals here is not lost on us. BJ's needs to vet its in-store sales partners and retrain its Boynton Beach staff, because both are an embarrassment to the brand. read more

I recently went to the new location that opened last week. The deli employees as well as all the employees that I encountered were awesome. Products were all good except for a bad experience with the seafood kiosk cart that was selling fresh/frozen shrimp, crab claws and some other items. I decided to purchase a pound of crab claws to enjoy for lunch. Unfortunately they were inedible and had a fowl smell. I reached out to customer service online for a chat session and after looking in to the matter, they explained that they were unable to refund me because I purchased them in the store and not online. I replied that they must be joking? However they assured me they were not joking. I have a membership that doesn't expire until August, but I will not be going back. BJs needs a lesson in good customer service. I really dislike writing negative reviews but in this case, I do not recommend BJs. read more

Brand new store. It's clean, huge and has an endless array of products. The $4.99 roast chickens are large and delicious. The store was busy, but plenty of room to shop. The only critique is that most items are sold in bulk. It would be helpful if smaller quantities were available. Many seniors live in small condos and storage of bulk items is not always easy.
