The lady behind the counter removed some of the ice, and told me that I needed to request "less ice" when I order. Then when I told her I already asked for less ice, she back tracked and said that what I received was already "less ice" and that the coffee is pretty strong and needed ice to dilute it - and that next time I need to request for even more less ice. It was troubling to me that this was brushed off as somehow my fault and to "come back next time" in order to get the drink I requested and paid for. I tasted it and came back within a minute, because it didn't really taste like sesame flavor at all- and as I was coming back in I saw a man leave with two of the same drink which looked like it had more sesame cream than what was in my drink. I told the person behind the counter this, and the response was how the man was a repeat customer from the previous day so again, how could anything be wrong with the drink I received? She took my drink and added more sesame but who knows - I couldn't see and she said she " mixed it in for me"- it looked exactly the same. Anyways, this had been such a frustrating experience with too much back and forth for what should've been a really simple solve.

Their organic coffee tastes great, the space is pleasant with a lot of natural light and the atmosphere is relaxed. We also love the mix of clientele which is just so Oakland. However this visit has been different. The quality of service has fallen tremendously. Despite the specific but extremely simple instructions of the order, it's rarely followed fully. One day it will be perfect, the next the coffee is barely warm when one has asked for extra hot; or one coffee will be sweetened and the other not at all when the instructions clearly ask for light sweet. One day we got two espressos instead of two cortados! The heated fatayer were cold in the corners and all crowded on to one plate so you couldn't tell which has which filling. Just generally, it's as if the people behind the counter no longer care that your experience should be great or that one cup of coffee that you have in your day be perfect! It's not even as if one is asking for anything outside of their ordering menu. We're really dismayed and saddened to see our favorite coffee haunt fall so far from grace. I kept mixing, assuming I was misjudging it, and took a few sips as I walked away. The taste and texture were wrong, almost slimy, and I spat it out. I went back in and asked staff to check the milk. They pulled the carton and told me the expiration date was for the next day, so it was "fine," and offered to remake my drink. I didn't want a replacement -- I wanted them to actually taste or check what they'd just served me, since I'd already swallowed some of it. They insisted nothing was wrong without doing that. I asked for a refund, and poured the drink out on the sidewalk outside, where you could see the slimy, thick consistency on video. When I went back in to show them, an employee looked at it and still insisted there was nothing wrong with it. Milk being dated for "tomorrow" doesn't mean it hasn't turned -- texture and taste are the real test, and this one failed both. This boba shop in Oakland is a total gem! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience feel warm and easygoing. Ordering is a breeze thanks to their easy-to-use kiosk, but if you need any help, the team is right there with excellent service and a smile. The drinks were absolutely delicious--especially the mango coco, which was perfectly refreshing and tropical, and the roasted oolong tea, which had a rich, smooth flavor that really stood out. I ended up having to wait 45 minutes and really only got my drink because I had to ask them what was taking so long (I was ready to just leave without it). There was only 1 person making drinks and drinks were basically leaving the kitchen every ten minutes or so. Whats worse is that I saw two women go into the back and I can see one of them talking with the other woman as she makes 5 drinks for the first one to just walk out with them. I know it's just a small shop but it's kinda ridiculous to see a line as a worker but then prioritize making drinks for a friend or the owner of the shop.
