Poke Zone is in Oakland Chinatown, as I understand I think it's the same owner as next door Tastee Steam and around the block Shooting Star. During the COVID-19 pandemic I would our their customizable poke bowls on Doordash, being willing to pay the delivery fees. I've found their ingredients seem fresh, I usually go for their raw Salmon or Tuna, I usually like their wasabi mayo or a sauce that has a little bit of a kick. I usually order the poke bowls half and half (half salad, half rice) so that that feel proud of yourself for being leafy greens and it doesn't feel too heavy eating too much rice. Their veggies are fresh and they'll fit as much as they can into those plastic bowls. More recently, Doordash has deemed the distance from me to Poke Zone deserves an extra distance charge, so I don't order delivery anymore. I haven't tried everything on their menu but I have tried their sushi rolls. Their lion king is pretty good (california roll with salmon and mayo, baked). A few different times I've ordered their sushi party trays, either their California roll which is like 48 pieces of imitation crab CA rolls for $30 or their other platter which has speciality rolls, we've tried their Bay Tray which has Baked Scallop Roll (8pcs), Lion King Roll (8pcs), Spider Roll (8pcs), Dragon Roll (8pcs), Shrimp Tempura Roll (8pcs). I ordered delivery from here, which took roughly 30 minutes - judging from previous reviews, it's likely because the popcorn chicken takes longer to prepare. I can't speak for the seating or ambiance if you choose to dine in. Starting with the chicken katsu bento, the breading of the katsu is light, thinly layered and maintains a delightful, crunchy texture that doesn't get soft or mushy. The chicken also retains its moistness and doesn't dry out. The salad adds a fresh, yet sweet profile due to the dressing. The egg is more of a jammy texture which I enjoyed. Also, the rice is cooked perfectly and is much needed for the balance of the bento. The California roll is classic and great! The roll itself is wrapped nicely and doesn't fall apart when you pick it up. The ratio of filling to rice is also even which I appreciate. The popcorn chicken is crispy and served in bite-sized pieces. Bonus points for filling the container to the brim! It's coated in spices with the batter and pairs well with the sauces provided. First time ordering from this place via Grubhub. It's hard to find a place that can accommodate a keto diet, so I was happy to give it a go. The ingredients looked and tasted fresh, and everything seemed made well enough. It wasn't a lot of food, so would probably be a better deal for people who actually get rice, toppings, and sauces in the poke bowls, because I found it pricey for my order (3 scoops fish, salad, avocado add-on). Not the best poke per se - the fish was decent, and seemed fresh, but not amazing. The bowl itself is a very tasty mix though: corn, avocado, crab salad, edamame, brown rice, not too much sauce and no weird mayo (too many places do this default sriracha mayo thing, and too much of it), crispy bits, bean curd, a little red onion, a little thinly sliced jalapeño. I came here to grab togo on a Friday Night and it was pretty busy with lots of togo orders. I got the warrior tray and tuna and salmon sashimi. The warrior tray was mediocre as the fried and baked rolls were cold but for the price, it is decent. I would not recommend getting the sashimi as the fish texture was very odd. Salmon was dense with a tough jello texture. Tuna sashimi was mushy and did not taste fresh. We ended up throwing away the sashimi. The only thing I would recommend in this platter is the california roll. Ambiance is dim.
