This is one of my staples in the area for a quick lunch--I've probably been here 15+ times in my 4 years at Berkeley. The fish and produce are always fresh and high quality, and I've never had any stomach issues afterward. I also haven't seen another poke place cut their salmon into such large, satisfying chunks. One thing to note is that the small and medium sizes use the same bowl, but you get two vs three scoops of protein. They also offer crab salad as a side rather than a protein, which is a nice perk. And if you order in store, you can choose unlimited sides--something Snackpass doesn't allow. For sauce, I recommend a combo of a soy-based option like the black unagi with some sort of aioli (miso, sriracha, wasabi crème). It helps balance out the flavors so your bowl doesn't end up too salty. I will say, however, that the amount of food you get is highly dependent on whoever makes your bowl. Some of the staff will pack it to the brim, while others are more conservative. Nonetheless, you can't really go wrong with any combination of ingredients and sauces. read more

Went under a friend's recommendation and I'd agree that it's one of the better poké spots in Berkeley. Fresh ingredients and fruit make up the bowl, and I haven't been disappointed in the times I've gone. Prices are a tad bit on the higher end but the portions aren't stingy. My choice of protein is usually spicy tuna, salmon, or octopus, and I always like corn, pineapple and seaweed salad to go with it. Citrus ponzu sauce and furikake tops off the bowl nicely, and they're ALWAYS generous with the sauce. The miso soup was very hearty, rich, and filling, and I enjoyed it very much. Unfortunately, the restaurant offers very little seating, so most customers take their orders to-go. Probably can't accommodate parties larger than 4 or 5. The fish (scottish salmon and spicy salmon) was definitely very fresh and good! Compared to Poke Bar, however, I think that the portions were slightly smaller? While I got two meals out of my Poke Bar order, this one only filled me up for one, and both were medium size bowls. I think the amount of fish they give you is also slightly less - overall, if you really care about the freshness of the fish and ingredients, I would go for Poke Parlor. Price: They are about $2 pricier than other poke places with the same amount of scoops but they do not charge extra for seared albacore so for me, it evens out. $18.95 for large (4 scoops). Their fish are cubed in larger cubes so I am not sure if you are getting more or less per scoop. Ingredients: I had salmon, spicy tuna, crab salad, and seared albacore. Everything was of good quality and fresh. I like that they cube the tuna for their spicy tuna rather than the usual mashed ones that I do not like. Sauces: They do not have spicy mayo as one of their sauces so I had the habanero aioli which was similar. Also added house shoyu and yuzu ponzu. Sauces are just okay. read more

After getting off work one night in January 2019, I came south of campus to Poke Parlor to try out something different from what I had when I lived in Hawai'i. Since returning to the mainland in 2015 I have only "had poke" (what I would classify as a poke bowl) once, earlier this year in Washington State. As an intermediate step to trying a poke bowl on the mainland, I decided to go with a spicy tuna poketaco here at Poke Parlor. I placed my order, opting to dine in-restaurant. Starting in 2018, I made it a conscious goal of mine to get more used to dining alone at restaurants. The experience here at Poke Parlor was helped by workers in a good mood and tasty food. I was mindful of the amount of time I spent, not wanting to get in the way of/slow down other customers. The tortilla was soft and did not tear as I ate. The tuna was soft and tender and the seasoning had flavor as well as spice. Pricing was fair at the time. In the prices I have seen advertised for different poke places since eating here, I would say the prices here are on the more competitive side (less expensive). The chunks of salmon were also large discernable pieces and I was particularly impressed with the tako, which at some places are like crumbles that don't give you that mouthy chew. My tako pieces were soft yet chewy and tasted very fresh. A huge runner up to the protein is the amazing variety of items you can add in for free. So, yes, this place is a clear "10" for me. This was totally my go-to place for poke while I was a student at Berkeley, so this review is a two to three-ish months late. The bowls are packed and worth the price you pay--I could even split the smallest bowl into two meals. I personally don't really like raw meat, but there are still great options such as tofu, spicy crab, and shrimp. There are also so many choices for sides/toppings. If you're feeling indecisive on what to add to your custom bowl, you can choose from some of their default options. Despite my love for these bowls, there were also some downsides to my visits. This might look like a lot, but these are just minor issues: Sometimes I like to get two of the same entree option, but you can't really do this when you order online which is a bit annoying. I've tried requesting this in the notes section while ordering through the apps, but it just gets ignored. Usually the servers are pretty accommodating with your requests in person though. Another issue that occurred for ordering both online and in person, was that they were always out of certain items for entrees and sides. I'm not sure if this is still an issue now, but that was quite frustrating at times. Once they were out of all non-raw items for the entree selections so I ended up with 3 fat scoops of crab salad. However, after loading my bowl with a huge amount of toppings, I was still pretty satisfied with the taste of my meal. Finally, something that happened occasionally was that the server would add too much shoyu and over-salt my bowl. Oh, and also be careful that the cap of your bowl slips off easily. Overall, I will probably visit poke parlor again on another visit to Berkeley. I always finish my meal a bit stuffed while feeling that I've eaten something relatively healthy. read more

This was a great find! Good sized poke bowls with an array of options from the proteins to the veggies. I loved that there were so many veggies to choose from. The house shoyu sauce I got on my bowl was delicious. Fish was good. I had the salmon and the spicy tuna. I think I preferred the spicy tuna! I have no complaints about my first visit at Poke Parlor. The food was made fresh and fairly quickly, and the fish they used was high quality (leaving no fish-y odor in my bowl). However, my second visit was subpar. I Doordashed my usual order -a small bowl with 1/2 blue chips and 1/2 sushi rice- and it came in ~20 minutes (not bad). Everything on top of the base was delicious, but the base itself was just inedible. The chips were a tad soggy (which was expected, since the toppings were pretty moist). However, I didn't expect the rice to be extremely overcooked. The rice was very mushy and looked like an amorphous white mass. I couldn't even see a majority of the individual grains. I don't remember when I ordered congee as the base... After eating the toppings and chips, I threw the rest of the bowl away. Hopefully, next time I can get better luck w the bases. read more

Really good sushi rolls but the poke I got with half zucchini noodles was not good at all. Poke was too salty, too soupy, too watery and not tasty.
