Sushi Secrets is the best poke restaurant in Berkeley in terms of portions, price, and food quality. They also have very unique sauce selections, my personal favorite are the: Unagi, Poke, Spicy Mango and Japanese Kimchee. In my opinion, poke places make themselves stand out based on their fish quality, and the tuna and salmon here feels extremely fresh and high quality, better than the other places in the area. I really like their crab salad as well! Definitely recommend going to Sushi Secrets if you're looking for a high quality poke spot in Berkeley. (4.7/5 stars!)

First time trying the place for lunch. Since i didn't know what to order, i decided to go with their rice bowl with chicken. It was so delicious and fresh. Rich and fulfilling. I actually really loved it. Ambiance was clean and calm. I wish their sitting area was a bit more refined. It was pretty slow and quiet during that time. Thank you for the delicious meal!!! Might go back to try their rolls. Recommended!!!

This is my favorite poke bowl place in Berkeley! Everything tastes so fresh and flavorful. The portion size is great and love that you can load the bowls up at no extra cost. I love it!

Grabbed dinner here this past Friday, and had a great experience. Ordered online in advance, and my order was ready in less than ten minutes. Decided to dine in as there was ample seating available and the place was lovely inside, modern and inviting. The sushi burrito with 2 proteins (fried shrimp tempura, crab salad, regular mayo, fried onion, jalapeno) was fat and filling. All of the ingredients were fresh tasting, the shrimp was warm and delicious, the jalapeno wasn't spicy but had good flavor, everything just came together nicely. And staff was friendly at the counter making me feel welcome during my visit.

I used to come here a lot few years ago. They had stamp for each item I purchased. Now they wanted to terminate that, and for each stamp according to the note they will give credit $1,00 I had 7 stamps but they only gave me $3,00 credit. I asked why? The guy did not give me the reason. I ordered 2 sushiritto with assumption I will get $7 credit. Before I could say more, he took the stamp card, teared and threw it away. The sushiritto now has smaller size although the prices are increased. Not coming back here!

I got the Poke Bowl with salmon and tuna and pretty much all the toppings. It was pretty delicious and definitely made me full. Service was fast. Overall 8/10 solid

i was honestly a bit scared to try this place after seeing several poor reviews, but it was actually pretty good! I got the build your own sushi burrito, and it was so yummy. i got it with shrimp tempura and crab salad, and the portion size was huge! it is a bjt soggy at the ends from the sauce, but i love how they let you include so many sauces and toppings. i ordered takeout, but the store does have a bit of seating in the back, and the employees are very helpful! it's honestly kind of an interesting location on shattuck and more of a grab and go kind of place.

YUM. Forget poke bowls, sushi burritos are the new thing. Flavor explosion with the perfect crunch and distribution of ingredients. This does get messy nearing the end but think of it as a fun challenge

GREAT portions. Although they don't have a ton of fish, everything else comes at a surplus and you definitely get more than your money's worth of food here. My 18 year old son, who usually eats a good amount, almost had trouble finishing a poke bowl here!! Love the variety, great, clean interior and quick service! Definitely a spot to visit when not looking to splurge and in need of a hearty meal.. will come again.

Better than Sushiritto for suuuure. One of the better sushi burrito spots, if a little pricy. My build-your-own was around $17 total (though, I did include avocado and masago). Located on Shattuck, a block off from the Downtown Berkeley BART station. They offer rolls, poke bowls, sushi burritos, and other cooked items. Interior doesn't really have a theme, other than fish art on the wall with ukiyo-e prints, a few wood elements here and there. SUSHI BURRITO: So fresh! I love that they don't slather the fillings with too much sauce like other places tend to do. I added both poke sauce and wasabi mayo-- they were able to balance both well while not obscuring the fresh fish flavor. The veg fresh & crisp, and the rice was seasoned right (and thankfully cold!). The rolls might seem small, but they're more filling than it seems. Definitely worth a try.

Found this place by accident! The place is small but comforting and very clean. The staff is nice. Street parking only, however conveniently right next to Berkeley downtown BART station. They serve sushi burrito and bento box as well as some variety sushi roles. Many to choose from. I had the sushi burrito No.7 Berkeley Charito. It was very delicious! I would definitely be back here again soon!

Inside is definitely cozy and you'll be sitting fairly close to the tables next to you. Service was really fast and easy - no complaints at all! The food was all great. Standouts were garlic edamame, 6pc omakase, beef tongue, pork belly, negitoro maki, corn tempura, & sweet potato creme brulee. Edamame was lightly charred and salted well, with generous amount of garlic flavor. Omakase was fresh and tasty, although a tiny bit small so definitely perhaps get your own instead of sharing one order between two. Beef tongue was hands down the best thing. I thought it was a boneless short rib with how tender it was (can break apart with chopsticks). The pork belly was also soft and went well with the spicy miso. Negitoro was fresh and the wasabi was grated very well. Corn tempura was perfectly fried and very crispy while still being soft inside. Lastly, the creme brulee was a great dessert. You do get a hint of the sweet potato. Would love to return to try other dishes!

Only lag was when we ordered 2 nigiri at the end and it took a really long time but I think the sushi chefs lost the order or something. Delicious sukiyaki, chicken skewers, cold tofu, salmon rolls, hamachi sashimi, Ikura and uni, tuna and Ikura nigiri, and hamachi Kama (not sure why they charge $21 and then $7 for a large when it is two small dollars that came out though). Decent wine selection - Chardonnay was good. Restaurant itself is fairly loud, especially with a baby that kept crying. But it might have been crying because it was loud. Owners should consider the Constellation System by Meyer Sound to make the dining experience more enjoyable for patrons. As this is a longtime bastion of Japanese food in the Bay, they should really invest in the sound portion of their restaurant. Prices have gone up since the last time I was here but it's not totally unreasonable. Good quality food and service. Love this place.

Food (4 stars) + Ribeye teriyaki was a hit--tender, cooked to perfection, and the kids loved it! + Lamb chop was a standout--one piece, but perfectly grilled, juicy, and tender. I could eat 2 of these with a bowl of rice and it would be a hearty meal! + Chicken karaage was solid--crispy, good portion, and a nice appetizer. It's basically a Japanese version of chicken strips that is way better than nuggets. + Salmon sashimi for the kids never disappoints. ~ Chirashi bowl was fresh and filling, though standard compared to other spots. There was a lot of rice which if we knew that we probably would've skipped the extra bowl I ordered to eat with my lamb chops. For the somewhat premium pricing, I wish they provided fresh chopped wasabi. ~ Stuffed mushroom skewer was just okay--tasty but nothing special. I guess for mushrooms it does taste kinda like a chicken meatball which could be a good thing. Service/Ambiance (4 stars) + Attentive and thoughtful service, especially accommodating a broken foot. They let my family wait at the bar instead of standing. + Ambiance is that classic Japanese vibe, busy but comfortable. Maybe not high-end, but definitely a place that feels special--especially now that we can afford it!
