Ebay Roll & Mr. Netscreen Roll
    Laura E.

Great sushi! I had the EBay and Mr. Netscreen rolls. Fish was fresh and the portions were generous. My mom got the bento box and thought the salmon was overcooked, which is why I'm giving a 4 rather than 5 star rating. She liked the other items and took some home for leftovers as there was a lot of food. The restaurant was not crowded and we were seated right away. Service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely come back and wish I found TGI Oni sooner as I'm moving out of state. :( I look forward to coming back when I'm in the area!

    HUGE sashimi.

I got the $25 sashimi. On the upside, it was a good value. On the downside, the fish was cut too thick and big. Pretty much impossible to eat in one bite. The hamachi was still partially frozen. I will return and try their nigiri. Service was OK.

Things to order: Agadashi tofu: Flavor was on point and what I expected. It would be even better if the cuts of tofu were larger. Miso soup: A good way to start the meal. This tasted like your typical miso soup with some seaweed and a few small pieces of tofu. Johnny Luv: baked sushi with crab inside and a scallop on top. This was my favorite!

Came here for a returned visit for dinner. The sushi is prepared fresh and tastes like good cuts of fish. The service is friendly. The owner who is the sushi chef takes care of his rolls. The ambiance is casual, a bit tight on the inside with pleasant music and tv in the background. Will return to try more sushi rolls.

This is a local authentic sushi place. Chef is friendly and good listener if you have special inquiries. Sushi are freshly made to order with generous portions. Good varieties of sushi, nigiri and sashimi plus non-sushi items. Ask staff for veggie options but some are clear through menu. Place is clean and organized with responsive waiter. Atmosphere is good for groups, meetup, seniors (flat floor) and small parties. Will return for orange spicy salmon (Netscreen) roll.

We try and make it here for lunch regularly since there is always capacity. This last time we got the Tempera and Beef Udon and shared it. The tempera was good but needed a touch of salt. The Udon was fantastic and the portion was large enough to take some home to enjoy later. We also ordered the Jacksons Roll because it would be crime not to order sushi too. All of the fish is fresh and delish. The servers are very welcoming and accommodating. I feel like this is my lunch secret spot.

first time here! very clean and quiet when we were there, the service was very nice and the waiters were respectful and polite :) in my opinion the sushi seemed pretty big and had me full after a couple pieces so be cautious when ordering multiple rolls unless u have a big appetite! overall its a pretty spot with nice ambiance and calm vibes, try it!

Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. Got seated right away in this smaller sized restaurant. Was hungry and excited for Bento boxes! But unfortunately, these bento boxes didn't work out for my husband and I. Two item bento box : overcooked beef steak slathered in thick teriyaki sauce and a nice tasty fresh California Roll. My husband also got a three item bento box : overcooked beef steak slathered in thick teriyaki sauce; over fried pork tonatsu with a side of thick sauce that wasn't tasty with delicious sashimi. Mussel appetizer was okay. I think that the fish and sushi items were good, but the kitchen items were pretty poor, poor enough to drag down my review down to 2 stars.

Unfortunately the bento boxes no longer have toro sashimi... too good to be true while it lasted. The beef teriyaki can be overcooked but the chicken teriyaki is tender and delicious. Still a decent spot when craving japanese

Sushi. I don't think it was worth the buck.. seemed like it had been frozen, stored and reused a few times. I DID NOT EAT IT

Food was not tasty, was chewy and seemed stored too long. Service was quiet but slow. Ambiance is peaceful!

This restaurant is such a gem in Montclair, Oakland Hills area. It doesn't look like much from the outside. I have passed by it numerous time but never thought to try it. Finally give this restaurant a try and I regret that I didn't try it sooner. Super friendly staff, we wear seated at the bar and our chef was wonderful and very knowledgeable of their selection and where the food come from. Sounds like they are allergies friendly too, just let them know. We had a few nigiri and the quality was very solid. The cut is nice and thick. Well balance of fish and rice. I can be full from just 3 orders of nigiri ( 2 per order so 6 total) I'm not a big fan of rolls but the rolls here are very good. My favorite is the lion king roll, nice and smokey cheese sauce. Parking in the area can be tricky during rush lunch and dinner hour, mostly street parking only. There is a parking lot down a block too. Overall great restaurant!

Sushi and Sashimi - $35. Huge chunks of fish. Each slice of sashimi is closer to 3-4 slices at other restaurants

5/5 For Sushi, Nigiri or Sashimi - Brick sized sashimi cuts. Great deal and good tasting fresh fish. 2/5 for all other items including Bento. This is a Sushi (raw fish) joint. If you're looking for something other than raw fish I'd suggest going to Kotobuki or another joint. Come here for the raw stuff

We ordered a mini lamb wrap, mini chicken wrap, rose tamarind drink and mint lemonade. The lamb was gristly and dry, so I preferred the chicken wrap, but was disappointed to find that it featured only chicken (well-seasoned and juicy) and did not have any tomatoes, cucumbers, or other vegetables like the lamb wrap did. The chicken wrap was only chicken and lavash. Perhaps it was an oversight on the staff's part, even though the restaurant was not busy during a Friday lunch. And it also still took some time to get our orders out even though we were the only ones in line and they were only two other parties eating there. Maybe there were tons of to go orders they had to fulfill? I'll be sure to check out the Santa Clara location as well in the future, but for this luncheon, we had to temper our disappointment by going around the corner to get some Gregory's.

During the week for lunch service I was able to walk in and be seated. We had the Tepsi Kufta, Falafel, and a Kofta kebab wrap. The falafel are a must. To that I simply have to give my respects and give them a shout out. Very calm and relaxing space. Many regulars walking in picking up take-out food. There's a very kind and soft paced table service here that just reminds me of cute and quaint bistros/cafes from the days gone by. Actual dialogue between servers and patrons, questions answered, smiles passed along. A huge gap from QR code ordering and avoidance of interaction that is trying to be normalized from here on out. We ordered a couple of bottled beers, nothing craft brewed-like, just ordinary Euro/Mexican selections. I'm not as rigid as I once was, so just a good clean lager with a meal and some water is very welcoming to me. They brought nice beer glassware and asked if we wanted it poured into a glass. Sure ain't gonna turn that down, especially since it was already there. It did fit with the nice silverware, cloth napkin and candlelit table. Yet nothing was stuffy and formal, just casual locals out for a good time. Kofta Wrap ($19/4*) This wasn't mine but I did taste a piece of the kofta kebab. Theirs is a beef/lamb mix and is well mixed, almost like a firm meatloaf texture, versus a grilled burger texture. It was a good basic kofta, spiced moderately so not strong but also not bland. The inside also has a lot of lettuce, onions and cucs with a tangy yogurt sauce. I did taste a big hint of mint in my bite which I'm assuming are big hits of herbs with the salad and not the kofta itself. And it was wrapped nice and tight with even distribution so every bite got every element. I look for that in every wrap whether a burrito, med wrap and even stuffed pitas. Beef Shawarma Plate ($20/4.5*) Pretty heavily spiced, where you can feel the texture of the warming spice paste in each bite. A little strong but at least it gave you ride to another culture. Properly shaved pieces where the meat texture was still there and nothing like processed gyro meat. Served with yellow rice and an awesome salad with a tangy dressing. I especially loved the tangy green chutney that was so vibrantly herbaceous, a mint and cilantro punch that brightened the spice ladened shawarma. And I also loved the grilled tomatoes and onion garnish on top of the shawarma, just gave it a nice chef's touch. Mansaf ($25/5*) I have never tried this but as soon as I saw it, I had to try it. I was told it was probably Jordan's most famous dish. Super tender cubes of lamb, with a touch of fat on some pieces which I love. Totally swimming in this glorious creamy sauce made of dried yogurt and tumeric. The sauce was mild (spice wise), quite tangy with a noticeable milky flavor. Served again with rice but this time topped with toasted almond slivers, which added a nice texural contrast. I was also told that this was usually made with bone-in lamb, but think they did it this way to make it more restaurant friendly, maybe even American friendly. But I was just imagining if this would have been a bone-in lamb shank, I would have loved it even more. Great dish! Still have to try their extensive kabob offerings and an assortment of their mezzes whether falafels, hummus and other dips. Lots of work yet still ahead of me, but I just know that this is gonna be a smooth and fun ride. Bet.
