Kansai was great! I was a bit skeptical based on the reviews, but I thought the fish quality was amazing. We ordered the sushi and sashimi dinner combo plus the rainbow roll, and it was definitely a ton of food and worth the price point. If you're looking for a variety of different fish, I'd definitely recommend it. Service was fast as well. Looking forward to going back!

My favorite thing to get here is the baked muscles and the hamachi kama. They are both absolutely amazing and such a great deal for the price. I'm not crazy about their sushi, but again everything here is reasonably priced and gets the job done for my taste buds. The customer service is okay. They are fast and always informative with regards to any questions or inquiries I have. I also appreciate that they are open late. Whenever I come in people are cleaning and making sure the ambience is up to par. I definitely would recommend this restaurant to others and will continue to visit myself.

This was my first time dining here, and the atmosphere was nice. We started with appetizers: tuna tataki and spicy tuna salad. The flavors weren't very Japanese, and the spicy tuna salad in particular was a bit too mushy for my taste. The seaweed that came with it was also a little soggy and wilted rather than crisp. I also ordered a spicy tuna hand roll, which was decent. For the rolls, I tried the Wendy Roll and the Lion King Roll. Both were quite creamy and heavy, so I found myself needing extra wasabi (though their wasabi wasn't very spicy). The portions overall were very large, so you definitely get a lot of food for the price. Overall, the food was decent and filling, though not especially memorable. I wouldn't call it authentic Japanese sushi--it leans more toward American-style rolls. That said, the happy hour prices are very reasonable and make it worth trying if you enjoy that style. What really stood out was the service. The staff checked on us often, made sure everything was okay, and cleared the table quickly so it didn't feel cluttered. For service, I'd give a full five stars. For food, about three stars--good enough to enjoy, but not outstanding. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Love the service! Great food! Good price! Ambiance was good. They have a parking spot for costumer if you're lucky to arrive on not so busy time. Check my IG post @ladyg.adventures I will recommend this place.

Kansai is a great place for good food and good vibes. Service was fast even on a busy evening. I usually order to go but decided to dine in this time and so glad I did. They have all day happy hour on Sunday so we took the opportunity to try lots of items on the menu. The Lion King, shrimp tempura roll, shrimp dumplings, soft shell crab, and veggie tempura were all delicious and filling. My glass of plum wine was the perfect complement to my meal.

Service was great. Got a heavy pour on the Midori sour. Happy hour is a good deal. Mixed tempura came with one shrimp, two broccoli, a piece of sweet potato, one piece of red pepper, and one piece of Kubota squash. Got the albacore garlic hand roll for $5 and it was decent sized. Sashimi came with 3 salmon pieces and 3 red fish tuna slices. Tuna tasted coppery... hamachi collar which isn't on the happy hour menu was good. Definitely do not order the fresh wasabi. It isn't freshly grated wasabi...rather a branded mixture that has the cheap horseradish wasabi mixed with water and jalapeño pieces and raw garlic. If you're used to americanized sushi then this place for happy hour is good.

Came here for a quick dinner and really enjoyed the rolls. Sushi was very fresh and satisfied my craving. They came with miso soup which I don't love but gave it to my sister. I also got their princesses cocktail that was so cute. The service could've been a little better. There were only three other tables and we had to get the servers attention any time we needed something.

I found a hair in my sushi

I've been to Kansai for a total of at least 6 times. I think the prices are reasonable and service is generally fine. Unfortunately, I found a hair in my to-go sushi last time. I was disappointed because I actually had to wait longer than usual to get my food as well. Another thing that they could improve on is the temperature of the tea that they serve. Tea needs to be hot.

Come hungry because the sushi is fat in the best way possible! The service is top-notch and just the right level of attentive. They really know what service means and why you leave good gratuity. The space always has great vibes, too. Definitely reasons why we keep coming back. Happy hour prices are great and just overall you're getting what you're paying for- 1 to 1 match.

Great Japanese restaurant for lunch with their own parking lot, love that for Telegraph Ave area. They have affordable prices and yummy bento meals. I took my mom here during lunch before her eye doc appt. It was a great find! She really enjoyed it. This may be our go to spot everytime she has a docs appt around the area. They have great options for a bento lunch meal the usual chicken teri, beef teri, salmon teri, katsu, saba shioyaki, tempuras, gyozas, CA rolls, sashimis, etc!!

    Love the food

Took my sister to Kansai for the first time and we enjoyed every bite. We love our time after church and plan to be back soon. Thank you to our hostess Pream

I was playing a Japanese game and saw them eating sushi so I got fomo. Never been here and ordered off doordash! As you can see in pic, everything arrived still well presented. I got the nigiri mix, and the following extra: eel, squid and octopus. The mix came with miso soup and a salad. Everything tasted fresh!!!! Loved the value of the pieces chosen. My only con is that i ordered 2 eel, and the chef chose one of the nigiri mix to be eel. Bleh, could have been tuna or something else. Anyway I've added this to my bay area doordash eats! And if you see my reviews, you'll see I'm VERY particular.

We were seated about an hour later, but once we got in, the service was quick and efficient. We ordered a mix of items to share: * Enoki chips - absolutely addicting. Perfectly crispy with a great crunch, and the umami spice on the side took them to another level. * Chicken karaage - tasty overall, but the glaze was poured over everything. I would've preferred it on the side to keep the texture crisp. * Kani hand roll - super fresh and flavorful; didn't even need soy sauce. * Ikura & hotate hand roll - generous portion and very fresh, again no soy needed. * Garlic Knockout ramen - lives up to the name. Rich, deeply garlicky broth that was bold and delicious. * Signature smoked toripaitan ramen - flavorful without being overly heavy (which I prefer). The chashu was tender and the noodles tasted fresh. I was blown away by the food, I haven't had ramen this good in a long time. The restaurant clearly runs efficiently, turning tables quickly despite the wait. I'll definitely be back

Server and Chef were super friendly and welcoming. While I waited, the chef brought me a nice little sample to try. Really refreshing and delicious. I ordered a lychee lemonade and edamame to start. Both really good. I had to refrain from drinking and eating it all so I didn't get full before my food came. Would order both again. (Maybe add some liquor in the lemonade lol ) For my main dish, I went with the 10 piece nigiri omakase and upgraded $10 to include toro. Pieces of fish were huge and delicious. Surprisingly the toro wasn't my favorite but still was really good! The shrimp head was a nice treat! I ordered dessert even though I was stuffed cause I couldn't help myself: matcha tres leche (which I was told was their most popular dessert). It didn't disappoint! Restaurant was clean and well taken care of. They were updating the signs on the window as well which I'm sure is going to look great. If you're in the area, give them a try. The space is very cozy, quiet, almost unassuming. For a Saturday evening, there were only 3-4 parties around us. I was relieved as some of our favorite sushi spots in this area tend to require reservations. We were welcomed graciously and were happy to hear the staff's recommendations. SALMON SPECIAL: !!! Pretty unique! I loved the beet-marinated salmon, this was nice and sweet. The green curry was interesting, though outshone by the former. TUNA TATAKI: A LOT of topping for a tataki...! Like overflowing! I liked it ^_^ But a lot of onion and texture. I mainly was curious towards the ponzu soy mayo, which didn't fail to be bright and flavorful. BACON OF THE SEA: My partner is the BIGGEST fan of salmon skin so this was a must-have. SO good. Crispy outside, tender inside, plus all the fatty goodness throughout. SAKE DON: Supa fresh!! With thick cuts. The rice is seasoned well, not too sour. I could've done without the lemon slices, but it might be someone else's cup of tea. Overall, pretty solid sake don :3 We got lucky with parking and found a spot across the street... But I'd come a bit earlier to scout out the area if you've driving.
