An excellent choice for late night sushi! Koryo Sushi honestly took me by surprise. We were just going for a few rolls and some appetizers, but when we were browsing the menu, we were delighted to find omakase options. We ordered the 9-grid omakase which was only $80! It also came with 4 chef's choice nigiri, soup, and salad. That price for omakase in this economy was actually thrilling to discover. The overall fish quality very nice as well. The fish were firm and flavorful. My absolute favorite bite from the omakase was the hamachi toro. It was extremely buttery and rich. Also, the uni that they used with the amaebi was sweet and delicate. Whoever does their seafood inventory/ordering really knows what they are doing! It was a Friday night so service was a teeny bit slow, but it's only because of how packed the restaurant was! I really enjoyed all of the anime decorations. The upstairs seating area felt really cozy but bright. The downstairs seating area felt really dark. I definitely cannot wait to come back to enjoy their omakase again! read more

First time ordering from this place. I ordered thru GrubHub on the Yelp app. It is not a high end sushi place but it is solid. The kind of place you order for girl dinner or a Netflix marathon. Second time coming here, I truly enjoyed this space it's small and cozy great for couples or a group of friends. Service was great really kind we were a group of 5 of us and kept bringing the items we kept asking throughout our night. The price is worth the food the "too good for four" was more than enough for a group of five plus some ramen it was soooo good. It felt nice to receive some candies when we paid at the end. Late night sushi! Good enough for being open super late. We arrived around 12:40am and they said they are taking last orders though, so don't go too close to 1am. Food was pretty good except their tempura seemed really old and stale, and their scallop nigiri did not taste fresh. My go-to sushi spot in Oakland. Usually order takeout from here. Typically they're fast and efficient. Food quality definitely meets the price point. Staff is always friendly. Orders are carefully put together. Fish is always fresh. If you decide to eat in, the dining area isn't anything fancy, but the food makes up for it. They usually have seating available, even though it is a tiny restaurant. I've tried to justify eating at other sushi restaurants in the area, but always come back to Koryo! The service was lacking also, maybe because they only had like 2 people waiting tables (from what I seen) and it was busy. I tried my usual, which is an order of sake nigiri and 2 orders of sake maki rolls. The nigiri was decent - a good cut of salmon. I really enjoy going here, especially since I am night owl and they are open very late so they are always an option if I am hungry late at night. I like sitting there. They are somewhat reasonably priced. Its pretty average pricing. They have a lot of different rolls and appetizers. The restaurant is inside of a plaza with other stores and restaurants. There is not that many parking spots inside of that plaza so I would plan to possible have to park on the street or down the street and walk (a short walk usually). The best thing going for this place is that it's open late. So, if you're a little drunky and want something other than fast food to feast on, it ain't a bad choice. Other than that, this place is average at BEST. Came here with a friend after having a few drinks at a bar nearby. The interior consists of two adjoining rooms; the first room near the entrance that features a small sushi bar, and a second room that's strictly for dining. We got there just after 11:30 pm and there were only a few other people inside. The décor is pretty simple, nothing too fancy. I will point out that it was very cold inside. Service was pretty attentive and also very accommodating considering the fact that we were laughing our asses most of the time that we were there and stayed until closing time. They have a late night happy hour that offers some pretty decent discounts on some of their appetizers and select sushi rolls. As far as the food goes, I really wasn't all that impressed. We ordered the following: *HH Deep fried chicken karaage - Wasn't a fan. Had a weird taste and the consistency was way off. *Mixed tempura: The only thing here that I thoroughly enjoyed. Nice and crispy tempura battered skin and the veggies tasted great! *Rainbow roll: Just alright. It did not taste fresh at all but the portion was decent for the price. *Salmon skin hand roll: It was pretty tasty but the roll was fairly small *HH Gyoza: It was pretty good but nothing to write home about. Another thing to note is that their restroom is scary as hell. Graffiti every damn where and it wasn't the cleanest. I would only use it if it's an emergency situation. All in all, this place was just okay. It's nothing that I'd ever go out of my way for. This was our Friday night spot during the early months of the pandemic. We'd first DoorDashed it and then began calling them directly and picking up the food. The quality of the fishes were great for the price. We would order a couple of rolls and the sushi combo. However recently we think the quality of the food and the fish have gone down. I also hate to note this but one of the last times we went to pick up food, while I was paying I noticed none of the sushi chefs (2) had their masks on. :-/ I hope the quality of their fish increases back to where it was and that they increase their safety precautions for the safety of their staff and their customers. read more
