Nigiri Combo #1 (8 Pieces)
Marcy S.

This time this one is for the service! I made a mistake with my waitress. I told her I wanted the sushi combo #1 When in fact, I wanted the nigiri combo #1 She even double checked with me. Ugh. She brought over my order I asked her if this was correct? She cleared everything up with me and I told her that it was fine. I would be happy to take what she brought me since it was my mistake. She insisted that she had it corrected. I do not like wasting food, so I'm hoping that one of the staff members got to enjoy it. Really was surprised and delighted that they went out of their way to make my mistake, right. AND THEN!..... they gave me an extra piece of nigiri on the house. Like. WTF. Thank You guys and ladies so much!!

Tasty roll easy pick up. Little on the high side but average for the area. Waitress was nice. Typical decor for Japanese spot. Solid spot when you're craving Japanese

My new boyfriend brought me here for Valentine's Day dinner shortly after we became official. We had such a wonderful dinner, and enjoyed delicious udon! When we came in on Thursday evening after work, we were pleased that we had the restaurant to ourselves for a bit. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. The customer service was very kind and welcoming. They were chill with the giant bouquet of roses and gifts that my boyfriend and I exchanged, and even helped us take photos together. Thanks Judoku Sushi for our first Valentine's Day dinner!

O Toro

Ordered sushi for dinner and lunch the next day. Let's get into it. Ordered: O Toro - REALLY fresh and worth the price if you like raw sushi. This is probably the best O Toro I've had in the baby's far from the Resteraunts I've been to. Bluefin Lovers - This was AMAZING. Also very fresh. Not too much sauce that it overwhelmed. Good serving of bluefin. Did not skimp out. Spider - I'm not a fan of anything cooked but I decided to try this. It was okay. I just wanted to see how it tastes. Crab is good, but because it's crunchy the sushi falls apart. Very dry too. Ironically after I was saying too much sauce is a bad thing. You can skip this one. Judoku - I would give this one a 7/10. Ordered it because it's one of the most ordered rolls. I'm more of a nigiri person but wanted to see what everybody was raving about. It was just okay. If you want a roll, get the bluefin roll. The o toro is great. I will try their nigiri rolls next time!

Kakiage Tempura

Hands down one of my favorite spots in Oakland, this sushi restaurant (and more) is such a vibe! Very close to Piedmont Ave. and Kaiser Oakland, Judoku is the perfect spot to dine outdoors with friends, a date, or just playing catch-up with a girlfriend. The staff is so accommodating and friendly, the interior inviting, but the outdoor area..unlike any other sushi spot in the East Bay with fun art, instagrammable backdrops, and just a cool essence. Well done! The menu is massive ~ we ordered the Kakiage Tempura and Bento Boxes for an afternoon lunch and omg what a deal! You can choose 2 or 3 items, so naturally we chose 3 ~ the avocado roll, teriyaki chicken, and pork gyoza accompanied by miso soup, edamame, and rice. Add a salad for a couple bucks if you're dining in! The Kakiage Tempura is so unique, crispy, and one of the most delicious appetizers in the East Bay..I said it! Delicate fried squares of shrimp, sweet potato, yellow onion, shitake and other root veggies combined into one bite. Glorious! And the value of what you can get in the bento box has me coming back for more. I only did the avocado roll this time, but can't wait to try more of their specialty rolls soon. Delicious and clean pieces of teriyaki meat, and super yummy gyoza, not too greasy at all. If you're in the area, coming from an appointment, or looking for a unique yet vibrant change to your typical sushi experience, Judoku hits the mark every time.

Judoku Sushi was excellent. We ordered eight rolls and spent around $170, and everything was genuinely delicious. The quality and flavor were consistent across every roll, and I would definitely come back. I just wish we had been able to sit outside, but it was very cold that evening

The place is a little tucked away spot, the ambiance is very dim, great spot for a date night. I got the kamikaze sushi roll, it was okay. A bit too sweet for my liking and there was nothing really memorable about it. I only tried one roll so I'm not sure how the rest are but my friend really liked hers. The star of the show for me was the Kakiage tempura. It was really delicious, great portion, and just fun to look at and eat. It was crispy and you could taste all the little veggies in there. I'll definitely come back just to get that. I also tried the tempura which was really crispy as well.

This is my first time to have sushi here. I'm really impressed! It's very delicious and the fish is super fresh. Their outdoor setting is very beautiful. The waiter was very friendly. The atmosphere here is so great for having a meal. I'll be back!

We got DoorDash for sushi tonight so I can't really comment on the restaurant itself, but wow! Can we talk about fresh! The rolls do not fall apart because they are made to order and the fish is super tender and fresh. This place deserves lots of love!

Sushi spot located in Oakland off of Broadway close to Kaiser. Parking can be a little hard but there's street parking but it's Oakland so always we aware and don't leave anything valuable in your car. This was my second time here for a large post work gathering, the first time we sat inside and the inside front is a little tiny but it opens up to a large outside covered patio with warmers, def huge outside. We had a part of about 12 people and took a huge order. Here is what we ordered: Appetizers sake- Kurosawa 1 and 2 hot sakes Beer Garlic edamame Hamachi carpaccio Chicken karaage Squid tentacles (geso karaage) Mango salmon salad Combo tempura hot teas Rolls blue fin Judoku lion king GSW Scallop inferno Sexy Casanova Ninja hot 2 Dragon roll Meals Chicken katsu unagi don -- for someone that doesn't eat raw fish Chicken teriyaki Korean chirashi We ordered about 3 more rolls and I think another one of the meal dishes but we did really well and pretty much finished everything. We all had waters and miso soup too. Service was great, the staff was very accommodating especially with our large group and our food came out in a timely manner. We made a reservation less than a week in advance for a Monday evening around 6pm in November.

Little snapshot of part of the back patio, you will simply have to come check out the rest yourself.. !

It has been a long time since I have been able to avoid using soy sauce when consuming fish and even miso soup, meaning that, the fresh was very fresh and everything had a lovely flavor profile, for lack of a better word. My order was simple, and yet that is sometimes the best way to tell that a restaurant is doing really well, at least in my opinion. Hand roll plus miso soup: excellent. The service was great: friendly, attentive, and helpful. The back patio is cute and has fun decor, interesting mural art, and has exciting music playing in the background as well. Life really is better with Judoki Sushi.

This place is definitely good for foodtography! Cute entrance and seating area. We ordered the Salmon Sashimi, Sexy Casanova Roll and Fresh Fish Rolls. I didn't care for any of the items we ordered, they all tasted low quality and not fresh. I was highly disappointed, we were very excited to try this place for the first time. There's several better sushi restaurants in the area, so I would probably not give this place another try. Especially considering the risk of eating raw fish, it's critical that the quality is high. I wouldn't want to get sick over sushi.

Ask the Community - Judoku Sushi

Do they take reservations?

Do you serve gluten free soy sauce?

Yes, I have asked and received gluten free soy sauce for both in-restaurant and take-out.

If I order a ramen for take out will they seperate the broth and noodles, so the noodles doesnt get soggy or are they together in the container? Can I ask if seperating them is allowed?

Yes! Their ramen container has an insert that keeps the noodles, meat, and egg, away from the broth until you're ready to eat.

Need input: What's your favorite roll here?

I really like the dragon roll! (I know boring, but it's one of my favorite dragon rolls!)

Is this place dog friendly? I see a dog on the patio in the photos.

Yes they have a really nice patio in the back and ive seen dogs there plenty of times

Parking is a bit difficult but we managed to find street parking a block away. Wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of seating inside. You order first and you find a table to sit, and they bring out the food to you. Self serve water is available. The food came out pretty quick! Thoughts: - Lobster roll (classic) was delicious! Generous amount of lobster. Would definitely get this again. Chips weren't too great though. - Fried shrimp basket was nice. Shrimp was crispy and tasty. Fries were also very crispy and flavorful. The sauces go well with the shrimp/fries. Coleslaw isn't the best though. - The crab nachos were surprisingly good. A nice cheese sauce combo with pico/avocado crema and a good amount of crab. - Garlic noodles were fine, nothing standout about them. - Mix and match basket with catfish, cod, and calamari (not pictured): Catfish was solid (would highly recommend, one of the favorites of the meal!), but would pass on the cod and calamari - a bit dry/fishy. Would recommend for a casual spot for seafood and a nice view!

Anyone remember the Jack London Village that they tore down to build this end of the development? Anyways - this is a fast casual type spot, where you order from the counter, place the little number sign on your table and wait for it to be delivered. The menu is your standard seafood joint by the water type, with all the usual suspects represented. Fried fish, shrimp, chowder, seafood pastas--if you've ever been to a seaside seafood joint, chances are good that the menu here is exactly like the one you remember seeing at the countless other places like this one. I noticed right off the bat that their pricing structure was on the high side - with a $17 burger and fries option, with the bulk of the fried seafood options in the $22-25 range. A cheaper choice might be the $16 fish tacos (two of them) but I kind of draw the line at paying $8 for a single taco. Our table ordered a few of the fried options plus a few soda beverages. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I noticed that the silver metal trays that the food comes on is a bit on the small side, especially considering the prices for each dish. The fried shrimp dish was a big scoop of mega-salty french fries, and 3 average sized deep fried shrimp. Yes - 3 as in 1, 2, 3. That's what - $7+ a shrimp? The two fried fish platters weren't much better portion-wise. My deep fried cod consisted of three modest sized fish-fingers, and not the single luscious chunk of perfectly fried cod I had imagined in my head when ordering. They were fine - but very average and nothing that stood out as life-changing or something to write home about. As mentioned earlier, they must be employing the Little Rascals method where they over salt everything, in hopes that you'll order another beverage to wash down the copious mounts of sodium (I figure about 4+ days worth). The fried catfish platter that rounded out our order was more of the same - thin meager portions of fish on a large bed of mega-salted fries. Small plastic containers of generic pre-made tartar sauce and coleslaw can with each platter. The coleslaw was fine - just very forgettable and perhaps a tad on the flavorless/watery side. All said, was it okay? Yes. Was it anything outstanding that I'd crave and plan my return to have again? No. It is in line with touristy by-the-Sea seafood places that charge an extra couple of bucks because they're "on the water"? Pretty much. You're paying for the view and the 'scene' of sitting on the patio out front to people watch, and not for the food. I kind of hate these places and normally try my best to stay away from them, but every once in awhile, you gotta put on your tourist hat and join the mindless flock. A meager 2 stars outta 5 from me. Instead, I'd stroll around this area on a Sunday when they hold the farmer's market (again - is not what it used to be) and then drive through the tube to Alameda where great dining spots are numerous on Park Street. You can stop at Crab Cove and Crown Beach on the way, for more touristy sightseeing.

A search on this website resulted in Marica having it on their menu. He booked a 7:30 PM reservation for two. We arrived early. What started out as a not too pleasant experience for us was the attitude of the guy who greeted us when we entered the restaurant. Attitude bordered on rudeness (3 star). We somewhat tolerated it, not knowing what to expect next. The restaurant was filled with diners, and the only available seating was not far from the front door. Oh, the chill was in the air, and my not wearing a sweater and/or light jacket to stay warm had me shivering. I had to brave the element (LOL). Since there was no Chilean sea bass on their daily special menu, it took a little longer for my companion and I to peruse the menu, and decide what entrees we were willing to have. Usually I would order an Arnold Palmer as a beverage; however, this time I decided to be adventurous - reisling peach spritz please - to whet my appetite. My date had the Temescal pilsner. Eats: Grilled salmon arange ginger saffron blanc beurre, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Korean short ribs, honey garlic gochujang marinade, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Our meals were on point and bomb-diggity delicious. The arange ginger saffron was perfect with the carrot. It reminded me of glazed carrots. The green beans were fresh and not overcooked. Ooh, the Korean pork ribs were tender and that sauce was sweet and had a subtle kick of spiciness. (Definitely a perfect complement for the pork ribs.) I have to admit the chef knew how to burn. Food tasted so good that figuratively speaking y'all gotta slap the cook and his mama. Ambiance: Comfy and casual. Despite the dining area is small, still it is a great restaurant for dining on a Friday evening. From my perspective and vivid imagination with the indoor lighting, it exuded a romantic atmosphere. Only in my mind I can hear soft jazz in the background. What convinced me to give Marica a 5 star rating? It was none other than Enriqueta, our waitress. She was pleasant, attentive and so accommodating. The chef lost our order ticket; thus, the wait time for our meal took a bit longer than we anticipated. She came to the rescue and comped us with dessert - chocolate souffle with homemade vanilla ice cream. It certainly was a gesture of kindness to have my date and me smiling from ear to ear. Return visit? Yes, mos def...not the rapper for Chilean sea bass. Enriqueta said I can always call to find out what their daily special is.

The Boquerones was also delicious... the oysters were all fresh and can be ordered with horseradish and hot sauce (I think it was Crystal). They make a good one. For my main, I had the lobster roll. They do it with mayonnaise and celery. It was good, but I prefer my naked with butter. Wish that was an option. I chose to splurge and get the Cesar salad on the side. It was almost delicate, with finely shredded cheese and light dressing. I wish there was more dressing to stand up to the romaine. Maybe a few more croutons, too. For dessert, I tried the creme brulee. It was nice and creamy with lots of fresh fruit on top. I only ate half. Be aware, the serving size is generous. You and a friend could easily share. The space itself is nice. It's modern and bright with jwarm wood and jaz playing in the background. There is seating at the bar, and a few outdoor tables in addition to the main room. I enjoyed my experience. If I had a criticism, it's that I wished for one or two more mains. They really have what I consider a grazing menu. It's not a bad thing, just something to consider. Only go if you love seafood. They have the obligatory burger, but not much else. I give them a solid 3.5. Recommended.

Amazing food and a lovely overall experience. I've been here twice, first with a group in the…read morecourtyard, which is delightful on a warm night. The only downside is it can be hard to share the little nibbles on the menu between 4 people unless you order more than 1. The appetizers are bigger portions are easier to share. Last night was just 2 of us in the dining room, which really heated up in the sunshine of early evening but then mellowed out. The menu had refreshing chartreuse cocktails to celebrate Chartreuse Day, which is apparently a thing (I'm into it). The scallop crudo was delicious but the halibut crudo with strawberry aguachile (!) was the standout. We did fried chicken with biscuits which were nuts, and I would buy jars of the anchovy chili crisp. The buckwheat donuts were a great way to finish the meal. Sweet and not heavy. It's a pricey night out but IMO well worth it.

It always pains me to give a place less than 4 stars, but I gotta share one person's opinion…read more Ultimately, a wonderful space that is offering up fare that ultimately didn't impress me and was quite expensive in value. Off night? Not sure. I came when this spot first opened, and I had similar sentiments. My favorite part of the meal was the dessert. The donuts and the hazelnut ice cream with that delicious salty cookie were truly the highlights of the meal. Everything else average. Not bad per se, but just unforgettable and of course... prices were expensive for quantity. The $40 1/2 fried chicken was really well cooked. A crispy thick layer of southern style breading deep fried with juicy chicken. It came with a sauce and we chose a mushroom sauce that I didn't think worked at all with this chicken. We also ordered a $7 (around that) biscuit that was small and fine. The gnocchi was actually well portioned for the price, but ultimately flavorless. And the shrimp and chorizo pizza, which I was excited about, again, lacked any depth or flavor... we asked for something to spice it up and she brought over a $2 side of anchovy chili oil. The smoked fish dip was just a few spoonfulls, which was fine, as I didn't love. The $21 asaparagus salad was the most flavorful with a middle-eastern spiced hummus to throw some flavor on it, it was just a very small plate for the price tag. Overall, this is teetering on a 2 star, imho. The place is really well designed, the outdoor patio so quaint and service was nice. The cocktails were solid, while none screamed out to me so I kept it at 1. Overall, not my cup of chartreuse (a very common ingredient they use in cocktails and even coffee). The space is lovely, but for the price tag, the fare didn't live up to the value.
