Love Basa for their poke. Always get it to-go. Favorite is the salmon shoyu. About 4oz of fish and really reasonable priced. Shoyu was flavorful and not overly salty. Fish is clean is scent and taste. Definitely fresh. Ate it wish some rice, avocado, and seaweed that I had at home and it was bomb.

've never been to a seafood market without that strong fishy smell, which honestly says a lot about how fresh the seafood is here. We ordered a few rolls, poke, a soft shell crab burger, and the seafood combo, and everything was delicious. I normally don't eat much raw fish, but the poke was packed with flavor. The rolls were huge, and the value for the price was really good too. The only letdown was the Saigon shrimp over rice. It was pretty underwhelming and nothing too special compared to everything else we ordered. It's mainly a takeout spot, so there's no seating available. Service was a bit slow, but they also seemed really busy with orders.

A good deal for the price. Service is quick and easy. I got the Spicy Salmon ($8) & Shoyu Tuna Hawaiian Poke ($11) The fish always comes out so fresh. The serving could be a bit more but still not complaining for the quality I'm getting. Rice is extra $, a medium size is $3.. They also have a great selection of other fish and speciality rolls.

Always consistent, delicious an fresh. I've been coming to this spot for a couple years now and I have been sure to pass it on to all my friends because of how reasonably priced it is. The shoyu salmon poke with some rice is a perfect lunch. The spicy salmon is a great contender. The service is quick and you can order ahead for pickup. No in-dining options but there is a park nearby to enjoy!

Needed a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon and it was not busy at all. Tried the spicy salmon poke with a side of rice. This was yummy and surprisingly fresh. It does have a spicy kick to it and was so good. Perfect to share for 2 for a quick bite. We enjoyed it at a park nearby and it was so refreshing and flavorful. I really enjoyed it!

Food The salmon and tuna were incredibly fresh, and the sauce they were mixed with was perfectly balanced and tasted amazing. I usually prefer tuna over salmon, but the sauce was so good that I couldn't stop eating both. The poke comes in a container without rice by default, but they offer an option to add rice, which also includes seaweed salad. Overall, the food was super fresh and delicious! I'd definitely want to visit again and try more of what they offer. Service The service was quick and very friendly. Ambiance This is a fish-market-style spot with no seating available, making it strictly a takeout place.

I've been going to Basa Seafood for years while living in the Mission District, and it's always been one of my go to spots. My favorites are their salmon sashimi, which they slice fresh for you at the counter, and their spicy salmon poke, which never disappoints. I usually pick up in person, but lately I've been ordering delivery. This time I ordered the Sunset BLVD Roll, which had tuna, hamachi, and salmon inside, topped with avocado, roe, and a mix of sauces. I also got two California rolls (6PC) at $7 each, plus two spicy salmon poke rolls. I made rice at home, though in hindsight it probably would have been easier to just order their $2 rice and save myself the extra effort. I placed the order during lunch hour, so delivery did take quite a while, a little over an hour. That said, the quality was still great and everything tasted fresh and satisfying. Basa Seafood remains a really solid spot, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

LOVE & OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE!! I get basa seafood all the time because it's so affordable and such great quality!! Everytime i come, I always get a poke (usually the spicy salmon poke or shoyu salmon) and a roll (spicy tuna or salmon roll). I always recommend this place to friends and it's perfect to eat by mission dolores park on a picnic when the weather is good!

This place is great. I followed the smell of fresh fish into the market, and for $17 and a one-minute wait, I bought two trays (one of spicy salmon and one of shoyu salmon), walked to Dolores Park, and assembled my poke bowl with some rice, avocado, and garlic chili crunch I'd brought from home. The sun was shining, my taste buds were in heaven, and life was good. Highly recommend.

Quality is still top notch at this SF gem. I've been coming here since 2015 and it never disappoints! If you're new to Basa, parking can be a little tricky but I usually have good luck finding a spot on 23rd Street. The place is tiny with just two benches for waiting. No dine-in tables or bathrooms and plenty of locals stopping by for takeout. They take credit cards with a $10 minimum. There were about five people ahead of me but my order was ready in about 10 minutes. They give you a beeper so you can wait outside. Just don't wander too far! Here's what I ordered: Salmon Spicy Poke ($8) - 8/10 - Fresh and flavorful with that familiar marinade I love. It was a little less spicy than I remembered but nothing a dash of sriracha at home couldn't fix! Tuna Shoyu Poke ($11) - 7/10 - Solid quality and tasty. No complaints here. Personally, not a total fan of Tuna but I wanted to give this one a try. Negi Hama (Hamachi Roll) ($5.50) - 7/10 - [HEADS UP!!] this roll DOES NOT come with green onion. "Negi" actually means green onion, so I was a bit surprised when it was just hamachi. After checking old reviews and photos, it seems this is their usual way of making it. SF Bag Fee ($0.25) San Francisco. Enough said. Total: $26.86

Affordable and very good for the price! My boyfriend and I shared a shoyu poke, spicy salmon poke, spicy tuna roll, and one small + one medium rice, all of which amounted to only around $30! We both agreed that the spicy salmon poke and spicy tuna roll were delicious, but felt that the shoyu poke fell short. The tuna had a strange fishy taste and the shoyu is given separate, so the fish is not actually marinated in sauce. Portions were on par with the price. The place is really small and definitely a hole in the wall that's become a local favorite. We ordered and got our food within 10 minutes.

Food: Salmon Spicy Poke Price: $8 Overall: For the past few years, I been eyeing this place because the price for poke was crazy! Parking here is a bit difficult, there was a nearby park/center(?) so I parked there. If you can get meter parking; it must be your lucky day! The place also sells sushi rolls, seafood sandwiches, fish tacos, clam chowder, etc. I picked the salmon spicy poke and it was soooooooo good!! I love that it doesn't have a fishy taste to it and the sauce is not overwhelming/underwhelming the fish. I also like the diced red onion to it. Bring rice or some wonton chips with it and you have yourself a meal!

One of my favorite spots for affordable sushi. My favorites are the 49ers roll, spider roll, spicy salmon poke. I tried their hamachi sashimi and it was really good too!

Ask the Community - Basa Seafood Express

Do they sell their poke (shoyu) by the pound?

    Unfortunately they do not.

Is it possible to get the spicy creamy salmon poke with tuna instead of salmon? Do they customize or is it all just made ahead and you get what's been prepared?

    Gluten free options?

Big hunks of raw fish totally gf

Are they still serving shucked oysters during covid -19?

No. Not until dinning is allowed.

When are they open to deliver on Ubereats/doordash? It says they're closed on the apps when they're actually open

I've ordered twice from UberEats, only to have the order cancelled at the end of the window it was supposed to be delivered. Not sure if it's a Basa or an UberEats issue.

We got the Garlic Noodles, Pork Belly Taco, Kalbi Short Ribs, and of course the Wings, as well as the Ube Colada and Lychee-tini. The Garlic Noodles were delicious. Couldn't stop going back for more with the yummy Garlic flavor. If you love Garlic, you will definitely love these Noodles. The Pork Belly Tacos were just okay. It was cooked fine, but the flavor was just okay. The Kalbi Short Ribs were also just okay. They were cooked fine, but really had little to no flavor. Definitely have had better. As for the Wings, we got the Pa'ina, Sriracha Honey,Salt and Pepper, Garlic Cilantro, and Spicy Mango. The Pa'ina has Sweet Chili Glaze, but too us was just spicy and didn't really have much flavor beyond that. In comparison, the Sriracha Honey we thought had more flavor besides its heat. The Salt and Pepper was a disappointment. It didn't have much flavor and was actually the least tasty of all of them. It was moist like the rest of them, but wish that the Skin was crispy like you expect Dry Rub Wings to be instead of being soggy. The Garlic Cilantro was a good combination with the Fish Sauce, Cilantro, Garlic, Serrano, and Lime Juice if you like Cilantro. The Spicy Mango was actually no really spicy and had a good Mango flavor to it, not that artificial Mango flavor you get with some things Plus, the Ube Colada was thankfully not too sweet, and was well balanced in Alcohol to drink ratio instead of barely tasting the Alcohol or the Ube. The Lychee-tini was also well balanced in both the Lychee and Alcohol flavor. Overall, great drinks, service, and food. Definitely would come here again and try more yummy food.

Underwhelming poke in the Tenderloin…read more Based on the appearance of the bowl, I was expecting bright and fresh flavors, but looks are deceiving. I was disappointed to find the bowl very bland and flavorless. It felt dry. The only sauce was mixed with the salmon pieces and didn't really taste like anything. This left the rest of the bowl lacking flavor and having dry rice. It seems like they just threw in a bunch of random ingredients to take up space in the bowl. I mean, carrots and tortilla strips are definitely interesting choices for a poke bowl. The portion was relatively small for what you pay. The amount of avocado given was just sad. You also aren't able to make adjustments to add other things to the bowl - you're stuck with what is set in the description. For this spot being a very small hole in the wall, I thought I would be noticed and assisted quickly. I was the only person in there but had to wait an unreasonably long time to get my order. I placed the order online long before I walked to the restaurant during my lunch break. When I got there, I sat waiting for probably 10 or so minutes before someone even came out from the back to hand me my food. Maybe their other menu items are better, but I wouldn't recommend Kitchen Aloha for their poke bowls.
