Superbaba is one of my favourite restaurants for a quick, delicious Middle Eastern meal in the Main and Broadway area. I ordered the Kofta Bowl. It came with beef cooked to perfection, rice, and fresh pickled veggies. The restaurant is medium sized, and some people take the food to go, however, there tends to always be sufficient space to dine in if you want. I found this spot through a Yelper's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised! The service was friendly, the space is cute, clean, and modern, and the food instantly brought me back to my undergraduate days in Montréal--where I first fell in love with Lebanese food. I ordered the chicken wrap and also got to try a bite of the eggplant wrap. My friend recommended the eggplant (and I can see why!), but I'm glad I went with the chicken because it carried that special nostalgia for me. Was a great visit to Superbaba for lunch on a Saturday! My friend and I got the chicken and beef bowls which came with delicious sauces, paired with a fresh salad on a bed of rice. The chicken I had was extremely tender and juicy and I really enjoyed it. The ambiance and staff were both great. The only thing I wish they could've had is a more traditional experience, where you could select the ingredients/toppings you want in your wrap or bowl along a display counter. read more

Finally made it here after reading all the good reviews. Did not disappoint! I had the chicken bowl with added crispy eggplant. Large portion and quite filling. All the veggies were fresh. Lots of sauce with the herb yogurt and sumac mayo, and they use chicken thighs so there's nothing dry about it. The pickled cabbage adds a nice sour flavour as well. Crispy eggplant is a few dollars to add on, but worth it if you're hungry. It tastes like tempura with the thin and crispy batter. Inside is clean, bright, and open. Order at the counter and they call your number when it's ready. Seating is somewhat limited for the amount of people coming in here. The tables are bolted down so it's not ideal for big groups. Makes an excellent takeout meal though. Parking is metered in this entire area now. Some meters are only $1/hour if you go west of Main St towards the park. No liquor license. read more

This is a great place for a quick and relatively inexpensive meal that will fill you! I came for a nice solo dinner after being in the area, and found it was pretty packed on a Friday night. I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl, which comes with a garlic sauce on top, half lettuce/salad, and half rice. With the busy evening, it took maybe 10 minutes of waiting, which wasn't too bad. The chicken was so fresh and delicious! It was marinated very well, and the meat stayed tender. The garlic sauce was divine. I liked the cucumber and tomato salad in the corner, and the lettuce leaves were alright too. I didn't love the shredded beet pieces, because they were very long and were going everywhere. Also don't love the taste of raw beet, but that's my personal preference. It just felt like there was so much beet. The dish filled me up and then some! Though I found I had a slight stomachache on my way home... not sure why. I will still come back! But I think I will take a small break for now. Recently got take-out at Superbaba on a recent visit back home to Vancouver. I get the comparison (in some other reviews) to Chipotle...but with a Mediterranean flair! I had the chicken rice and salad bowl, with a side of fried eggplant. This bowl was so hearty and filling I could barely finish it. The bowl packs a punch of flavors, and with all the fixings in the bowl - red pickled cabbage, salad, tzatziki, rice, and protein - it's easy to have the perfect bite each time. When I first discovered this place, I thought it's just another medieval restaurant, as there are so many around now. But I was wrong; this place is different. I can say I was blown away. I was quite skeptical looking at their price and portion; it is more expensive compared to ones such as Donair Dude. However, I was very full and had to share a bowl with my girlfriend. Their chicken and lamb are not the normal ones you'd taste; I love how they use thighs only to keep the meat moist and juicy. On the other hand, the lamb was very flavorful, and since it came in a nugget form, it was also able to stay juicy.  The fluffy pita was my favorite part; it was indeed soft and fluffy, something I've never had before as a pita. It also has a unique flavor to it--a little sweet--and we loved the flouriness from each bite.  You will be surprised at how this will taste when you order it! On my list of places to try, I finally got the chance on a Saturday afternoon. I walked in and it was bright inside with quite a few place to sit. It's an order and pay first kind of situation. I decided to get takeout. I had the falafel wrap and the chicken bowl. Falafel wrap- it was delicious. Plenty of filling inside the wrap and it kept well when I transported it for takeout. All the flavours of the wrap went well with each other. The pickled cabbage added crunch and a refreshing aspect to the fried falafels and cauliflower. Chicken bowl- also delicious. Portion of chicken thighs was generous and I opted for half rice and half salad. There was plenty of tomato and cucumber salad and pickled cabbage. I also added hot sauce ($0.25) to the bowl. I'd been meaning to visit for a long time and found an opportunity this weekend for an early dinner. You order at the front and find your own seat. Their website also makes it very easy to order takeout. I got the chicken bowl with half rice and half salad (this is the default but you can have full rice or full salad). Ordered two vegetarian bowls , eggplant and falafal Both bowls were presented beautifully, tasted so fresh and juicy and spice full. is that a word spicefull??? I have recommended Superbaba to friends, family and neighbours, and my carnivore boyfriend loves their offerings just as much as my flexitarian self. We've have the beef kofta, the chicken shawarma, and I never leave here without an order of crispy eggplant or falafel either in bowl, wrap or as an extra side to a dish. The food is delicious! There are options for gf and vegan. The serving size is perfect and you can opt for add-ons or sub rice for lettuce and vice versa. The staff were pleasant. There are 2 big negatives for me. The first one is that they only serve beer as their alcohol option. I had lemonade which was fine. The bigger problem for me is that all of the dishes/ cutlery, etc. are non-reusable. Eating with a plastic fork which I then have to throw out really irks me. As much as I enjoyed the food, the wastefulness of containers, cups, etc., will probably prevent me from returning. read more

Okay, time for an updated review, as my initial experience was before they were properly established... I did an online take-out order for lunch and specified the order to be ready half an hour later. It was waiting for me when I arrived. I got the falafel bowl ($11.75 plus tax), which comes with a bed of fresh mixed baby greens and nicely seasoned rice (that's the default base; you can switch to all greens or all rice if you prefer). The bowl comes with three very large freshly cooked falafels, which were impeccably cooked -- perfect texture, chewy, fresh, and coated with wonderful sauces (tahini, shug, and hot sauce, since I specified the spicy option). The fried cauliflower was really nice also -- marinated and spiced beautifully. You also get a tasty cucumber and tomato salad, picked cabbage, and plenty of hummus. Very large portion. 5/5 My wife got the (spicy) falafel wrap ($10.25 plus tax), which comes with similar stuff that I got in my bowl. She really enjoyed it, and the tastes I had were delicious. Honestly, it doesn't get much better than this. I loved everything about this place. Very high-quality ingredients, perfectly cooked falafel, fresh greens, nicely seasoned rice, excellent sauces, generous portions, reasonably priced. Their falafel is so good--perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. The space is cute and modern, but it's too bad there's no indoor or patio seating due to the pandemic. This place truly suffers under COVID as there isn't a place to sit on a seat, bench, rock, etc. within a 5 square block radius (and of course you cannot sit inside as it has no seating currently). Decent COVID protocols under the pick-up only conversion. My wife had a chicken bowl, I had the chicken wrap and I'd say mine was over-priced, but hers was not so there you go,.. even at $13 I actually think the bowl was a good deal and huge variety of fresh and falvourful stuff I feel my body actually needs. Finally Superbaba has graduated from a food truck to a brick and mortar location in Vancouver. This is no doubt THE best middle eastern food I've had period. You cannot go wrong with the menu. Everything here tastes absolutely amazing. I love the sandwiches, especially the chicken one. The meat is tender & tasty as f*ck. Also the addition of fries to the sandwich is a nice touch. The bread is freshly baked in house. Don't forget to ask for the hot sauce. Also their Falafel's are the best ones I've had in Vancouver. Another thing I love on their menu is the Sabich (Tempura eggplant). Crispy on the outside and soft inside. Superbaba is one of the very few places where i'll pay to eat vegetarian food and enjoy it. New food truck located on Burrard St close to Pender. I was excited to try them out because I read that this truck is a collaboration between - Cafe Medina, Tacofino & The Dallah Menu. It's Middle Eastern themed & I've been I search of that 'great' Shawarma for awhile! I ordered a chicken Sharwarma with hot sauce added on. WOW! It was Superbad - as in awesome!!! Probably the best I've had yet - so flavourful! Really enjoyed it! Intresting twist to this shawarma - it had fries in it. They add flavour to the experience as I think they are seasoned with herb or garlic. I'll be looking for this truck all summer! read more

Finally got the chance to try Superbaba as I was in the area, the inside of the place is so cute and clean, nice vibes. Since you go up to the counter to order, I was a bit pressured into ordering as I didn't know what to get and was indecisive. I finally decided on the chicken bowl and I'm so glad I did. The chicken bowl consisted of shawarma spiced grilled chicken thighs, tomato & cucumber salad, herb yogurt, pickled cabbage, sumac mayo and rice. Let me just begin by saying that the chicken was grilled and marinated perfectly and was sooo juicy, the natural juices and oils tasted so good with the rice, I wish I got all rice instead of half rice half salad as it was really tasty. I also really loved the pickled cabbage as it was so crunchy and flavourful, the sumac mayo was perfect for the chicken. I think next time I will get the chicken wrap instead of the rice bowl because it doesn't have the cucumber/tomato salad which I don't particularly enjoy in general. That's a pretty big task by any standard of measurement...and Superbaba has an excellent one, hitting all the essential notes: tangy, smokey, and eggplanty. Everything else I had was great,too: fluffy pita bread, hummus, and fried eggplant with a generous tahini dip. The ambiance does not match the quality of the food because you'll be eating exceptional fare in a fast food environment. But who cares if the food tastes great! Did I mention the price? This food truck is located at the corner of West Pender and Burrard. I ordered the Chicken Sharwarma bowl. I really liked the flavor and it tasted super healthy. The greens were tasty. I liked how the chicken was well seasoned. Portion was a perfect size. They were very generous on the hummus which was perfect for me because I loved hummus. The wait wasn't too bad. I came here during lunch time on Tuesday and I would say from the time we lined up till getting our food, it took about 10 to 15 mins. Not bad. The Chicken Sharwarma was $12.25. I would say the price was pretty reasonable. I highly recommend coming and giving this place a try. My colleague said their falafel bowl is awesome. Not sure but I am not a fan of Falafel. Super good food, coming to you at Burrard and West Pender. My go to is the Falafel Bowl (chickpea fritters, fried cauliflower, tomato & cucumber salad, hummus, pickled cabbage, tahini, and shug - served on on a base of 1/2 dressed kale & arugula and 1/2 rice & lentils). The falafels are the best I have ever had - crispy and really tasty. I add hot sauce to mine to make it spicy. Its a nice addition to the hummus. The pickled cabbage is a good portion and also incredibly flavourful. And the fried cauliflower is melt in your mouth! The portion is so filling and very affordable. The service is really friendly! Middle Eastern it ain't but still it's 'ok'. The wraps & bowls are standard hippie glop made to be as inoffensive & unambitious as possible-on the plus side the Zhug/hot sauce is strong and overall the food isn't too salty. Service is so/so I've met a few staff members who were truly lovely people and at least one psychopath-in-training it doesn't seem like a great place to work in. In contrast to another review here I find the nearby Mount Pleasant Community Centre has a number of quiet benches where a person can slink off & enjoy their food in peace read more

Best falafels in town - light and fluffy falafels on a bed of yellow rice and mixed salad greens with a side of house made hummus and tomato/cucumber salad and pickled purple cabbage (such a long sentence!). The falafel bowl is so big, sometimes it takes me two meals to finish it. Also get the $2 side of fried eggplant. You won't regret it. read more
