After v-ball, we wanted something quick and easy for dinner. It's been awhile since we've had a donair so decided to give Döner Kebab a try. It's a few doors down from Rain or Shine Ice Cream. We dropped in on a Thursday evening (around 9:00pm). Service is quick and food comes out within minutes of ordering. Most people were grabbing takeout (we were the only ones that dined in). The worker asks if you want spicy and what toppings you want in your donair. The menu is short and sweet with 5 donair and 13 plate options. They also have four types of salad, samosa, dolmas and and baklava ($2.67 each). Don't see lamb shank too often. - Lamb shank ($13.33) - lamb shank, rice, hummus and your choice of salad. We asked for half pasta salad and half tabouli (but he gave us Greek instead). Lamb shank was quite tender and slow cooked so it fell off the bone. Sauce was also tasty and perfect to soak up with the rice. A bit strange that you don't get a pita to go with the hummus. Salads were refreshing; I enjoyed the pasta over the Greek. - Falafel donair ($7.67) - you can see the mini deep fryer they use to cook the falafels. We went with medium spicy (only results in a slight kick). The donair was pressed/grilled but oddly didn't have the slightest crunch or bite to it. Same with the falafels; no texture and so salty. Ruined it for me. DIdn't love the donair. Not running back anytime soon but if I were to come back, I'd stick with their platters.

The mix plate had rice, 3 falafels, chicken (which I chose), some hummus, and choice salad. The rice tasted awesome! They must make it with chicken stock or something. I could eat the rice alone. The falafel was great too. Crispy on the outside. It's a cheap, quick, solid joint. Full support, will definitely come again.

This is my go to spot for falafels. This place is awesome because they have four different salads to choose from. I always get the pasta salad because it's so delicious packed with garlic. I loooove it! I always get the mixed plate with falafel & the beef. I also think their hummus is great with good flavour. Definitely worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.

    Complimentary tea.

I am happy kits has a place like this. There are not enough cheap and quick eats on fourth. Cozy and clean, the food is delicious. The owner is really nice, and if you eat in, he will give you complimentary tea. If you're looking for something quick and easy to take down to the beach, or you just want to eat in and people watch along 4th ave, I definitely recommend this place.

May not the Neukölln, but the Döner here was fresh and delicious just the same!

Ok, so I am a Döner snob. Having lived in Berlin for a few years, you eat enough of them to know when they are good, when they fill your belly and when they are bad. This place made an authentic, fresh and tasty Döner. I appreciated (but didn't eat) the pickled neon magenta turnips, and fresh vegetables. The sauce selection is missing a Garlic flavour, IMHO, but the hot sauce was a nice addition to the tzatziki. Highly recommend it to any visiting Berliners or people wanting a good meal at a reasonable price. Can't wait to try the mixed chicken and falafel one next!

Definitely try to go at opening or when it is not busy, as the dine-in experience is memorable - they place your order in a long wooden board to make it a beautiful spread. We got the Manoush'eh Special which has ground beef, pomegranate, etc and Sham Style which is shaped like a boat. We also tried the yogurt drink which pairs well with the dishes. The only con is that this place does not have free water, but it is no problem to have our own water bottles supplementing the meal. We also got the lentil soup which is pretty good. Definitely sufficient to share one to try, but the Manoush'eh outshines the rest of the items. I loved the quality and texture of the Manoush'eh and just the breads in general. It is a lot of food for 2 people so if you want a snack, you can definitely just share 1. Some people go here for the wraps too. Overall, an affordable restaurant with good food. We got the most expensive items and it was less than 50 CAD all-in, but a lot of the items are around the 10 CAD mark.

We were greeted by what I assume was the owner (as I also saw him featured prominently in the YouTube video) and took a seat at a table in this relatively small seating area. I kinda had an idea of what I wanted so I started to order.. that is, until the owner told me that he recommended something else on the menu instead. I'd be lying if I said this didn't catch me off guard a bit and even rubbed me the wrong a little, mostly because I had my mind set on what I wanted but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and accepted his recommendation. Again, I'll admit that I was a little pessimistic during the wait. I told my girlfriend that I hoped the Philly was as good as he thought it was because if not, I was going to be severely disappointed and my review would highlight that. I gotta say, great call from the gentleman. The Philly wasn't the most traditional I've ever had but it was a very yummy variation with nice textural differences that made it an abundantly enjoyable experience. The meat was cooked very well, the cheese was gooey, the fried onions gave it a great crunchy bite and that sauce was a scene stealer. All in all, what started off as a bit of an uncomfortable experience ended in one of our favorite dinner outings of our trip. The only extra detail that I'd like to share to the owner is to update his menu highlighting his personal recommendations so people lean towards those more. I like to take recommendations and ask for them consistently but maybe others wouldn't have appreciated it and could've taken it a bit out of context.

The interior of the restaurant was also very nicely decorated. I do think Saba Foods is fancier than other places I've been to while exploring new cuisines and I personally prefer a more casual dining experience. As for the food, the portion sizes were very generous (though I did see other diners ordering individually). I shared the haneeth and saltah with a friend as well as got the kunafa and bint al sahen for dessert. The lamb was very tender and fell off the bone and the saltah came in a bubbling pot. I think the presentation of each dish was beautiful and was representative of its quality. My favourite dish was definitely the haneeth; it had a good combination of meat, rice, and vegetables. My reason for the missing star would be price point (total came around to $55 per person) as well as flavour as I'm used to having very flavorful dishes from other cuisines. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn't tried Yemeni food before though!

Was tempted to try their tea but was concerned it might be too strong on the caffeine but I was in a food come during the musical from the heavy brunch so probably could have used a pick me up. Would recommend if you're looking for a brunch spot in cute South Granville neighborhood. If you're catching a musical, they're a dining partner that offers a discount but we forgot to mention that when we paid.

My wife and I came here for our anniversary dinner and we were delighted. We ordered the Chefs Special Sampler for 2 - basically giving us a sampler of everything on the menu for $90 per person. We were really really full and couldn't finish it all. Highlights: - Chickpea Fetteh: warm delightful mixture of ground meat, chickpea sauce, with soaked pita at the bottom and crispy stuff in it. It just explodes with flavour and texture. - dip sampler: the hummus and eggplant mutabbah were really good but that pocket pita bread was out of this world good. Even the tabbouleh was good and my wife normally hates that. - the lamb tartare was AMAZING. It was kneaded so soft that it was practically a paste. When you combine it with the nuts and red spicy sauce and eat it with bread the combo is winning. - grilled Kibbeh and regular kibbeh - both really delightful - the grilled meat plate was great. In particular the chicken with the garlic tahini was really flavourful. The kabob mushrooms and peppers on top of smoked baba ganoush was soo good. Loved the smoke flavour. They finished by serving us baklava sampler which was all really good. From start to finish this is an experience for the ages.
