This is an update to my previous 3 star review almost two years ago. Several times we've been recently ordering takeout the kabobs have been so dry and overcooked we had to chuck it in the bin half way. Like trying to swallow cardboard. It makes it even worse when every single time we've instructed them to cook it juicy and every time they overcook it. So, 0 for Food. 0 for Service. Time has taken you to Disaster's Door. I visited Khaghan Restaurant this past Sunday with four friends, and unfortunately, I experienced food poisoning shortly after our meal. This is a serious health and safety issue that I felt compelled to report. When I called the restaurant to inform them of what happened, I encountered unprofessional customer service. I simply asked for the staff member's name to know who I was speaking with--a basic customer service standard--and she initially refused to provide it. Only after insisting did I learn her name was Zynab. When you're dealing with a potential food safety issue, professional and transparent communication is essential. The reluctance to provide basic information and the dismissive attitude made an already distressing situation worse. I hope the restaurant takes food safety seriously and reviews both their food handling procedures and customer service training. No one should have to go through this experience. read more

The place is a hidden treasure that must be found by all halal food lovers. We dined in around closing time and they were able to accommodate us. Not only that but the service we received was top notch. From rice to beef and chicken and naan all were cooked to perfection and were delicious. There is plenty of room to sit inside and outdoor seating is also available. read more

The rice was fine to our expectations, chicken was tender BUT I was not hungry my husband was. This is why I told the server I wanted hot tea & asked help to find a vegan appetizer. All seemed well & I tried to get my tea, though there's no eye contact, her demeanor was strictly cold. Tired and wanting my hot tea. I would see her pouring herself a cup of hot tea, and also a server on a break a cup of hot tea. They able and enjoy this I would not receive my tea I was seated right by the bar where they were. My husband try to talk to the lady at this point I really needed to go. I had my eggplant dip which was so so. I got to say when we were getting ready to leave My husband noticed that we had been charged for this tea. it was the service it sucked!! I had no service or I'd of checked here I'd not of gone in!! Literally the worst. Wish I could give them zero. Came here for dinner and we stood in front of the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 5 minutes while they started at us. It was not busy at all either. Finally acknowledged us and asked if we could sit outside. She said she'd check. There was nobody there so she said ok. Best kabob Koobideh I've had in a very long time. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection and highly recommended. Service was attentive and the staff had great harmony Working together. I'm never going anywhere else and Will be back soon. read more

Service is far from good, they are friendly but not very fast or careful with your needs. I think Joojeh Kabab or the Chicken Kebab is the best choice to order here it's flavourful and juicy, Baghali Polo however was tasteless and the lamb didn't look fresh to me. Food was amazing and everyone was really nice. Service was quick and easy, the foods arrived within minutes!

I was recommended to this restaurant by a friend and the food did not disappoint! I tried the eggplant dip and I absolutely loved the Vaziri, which is their chicken and beef skewer. I also tried the chicken leg with barberry rice, which was also really good in that it comes with a chicken sauce and the barberry rice adds a nice acidity to the richness of the dish. The portions here are very generous and you'll be happily full when you leave. read more

Geez I was reading some of the reviews for Khaghan and there seems to be a lot of negativity! Hahaha... Man I like this place! My gf and I were out of a Saturday night and hungry! We tried our tried and true favourite.... Saku (the pork chop place)... we tried both locations West Broadway and the Robson Street location... No luck the line ups were crazy! I vowed that I would NEVER come to this restaurant on the weekends again looking for a meal! The pork chops are good but not worth waiting in line for an hour plus! Anyways we were down around Robson and Davie... looking for some place to eat.... I said lets go off road and try something completely different! Something we usually won't even look at... Thus we ended up a Khaghan Restaurant! First off you can get a table on a Saturday night! I think the staff is super friendly and helpful. Given my complete ignorance about Persian food I had to rely on the staff to make suggestions! We had a eggplant dip on pita bread for our appetizer... Really good! Super flavourful and yummy.... I would definitely recommend it! For a main course I had the Vaziri... boneless chicken and a ground beef based skewer... The chicken was all white meat but it was super juicy and flavourful. Probably the best white meat chicken I've had a while! The beef skewer was very flavourful too! Savoury and super delish!!! Also, you get a mountain of Persian rice to deal with! It's yummy! Not as sticky as Chinese rice. I actually prefer it over chinese rice! We ended up sharing some baklava for dessert!.... Overall, I would say we want to come back to this place and try it again! We arrived with a large group and reserved their 7pm time slot to hear live music. I guess my understanding of live music differs; this was a one-man singer with a backing track of songs. Their space is very small, and the music was so loud that our watches repeatedly warned us about 120db noise. We brought it up several times, and they always said that because it was live music, we couldn't control the volume. There were no live instruments other than a microphone, and the volume of the amplifiers could be controlled even for live music. They were extremely rude and insulted us for causing a disturbance, threatening us with not allowing you to stay. At best, the food was mediocre. Our waitress was extremely pleasant. They must keep up with their competitors if they are to remain in business. They require a new management team, a new chef, and a better band capable of controlling the volume of their instruments. Overall, I've never had a worse experience in my life. This is not a place I would recommend. read more

Food: not the best Persian food. They use short cuts and have poor technique. The tahdig was soggy. I brought it to the waiters attention who didn't really care. The kabob didn't have much flavor and the rice was flooded with bar berries. I would pass and look for other Persian restaurants. The ambiance is nice. The staff seem to prefer their own Persians over non Persians. So bring your token Persian friend with you. read more

I usually never write reviews but I am never going back to the restaurant again. We were eating a kabob and it tasted very mediocre, definetely not the quality it used to be. The beef kabobs had no taste at all. Also the gheyme tadig was watery and the mast moosir was very tasteless and poor. There are much better places to eat in the North Van area if you want kabob. We ordered 2 lamb shanks and a ghormeh tahdig through their website. On the website it says it takes half an hour to be delivered. We called after 45 minutes and were told it's ready and they are waiting for the deliveryman to pick it up. Waited another half an hour and called again and were told it's on its way. After an hour and 20 minutes, food arrived. Everything was ice cold and tahdig was saggy. The worst tahdig I've ever had. Very bad experience. Not gonna order from this place ever again. read more

We had a fantastic waiter and luckily our Persian friends brought us here to introduce dishes. The owner's English is not so fluent but he was friendly and this is a new restaurant so be patient if service is a bit slow and the sad music that was playing suddenly turns off. The renovations in there are nice. This is the restaurant that took over the Turkish place from before which was much darker than it is now. Lovely decor and nice outdoor patio although our table of six sat inside. When you order the ground beef skewer you can ask for half salad and half rice with your order so my boyfriend and I ordered one ground beef/chicken skewer combo and and one steak skewer combo. If you want to get covid.... THIS is your place. We sit down, order our meals, and a party of 6 comes in ( great! It is compliant to the rules!), then rolls in a party of 12, then a table for 8, and finally, I table for 10 which was a birthday celebration. We were not too happy to see this as we are rule followers and expect everyone to do their part so we can get out of this pandemic!!! The chef/cook in the back comes out with gloves on and hugs and kisses one of his buddies and greets 3 other people at the table and decides to go back in the kitchen with the same damm gloves on. One worker lady with the pretty blonde hair was cleaning a table with gloves, then was rung to get food for a table.... she sprayed antibacterial soap unto the same dirty gloves and served the entrees. Very very disappointed in seeing this. Our table was more shocked to see how careless this restaurant is during a time where we have a freaking pandemic and Bonnie Hendry had specifically ruled that a party of 6 is what we are allowed to do. My husband and I have brought friends and family here or ordered take out and always enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the service. Last night was no exception for my party of four. Earlier that day, I had eaten too many yellow plums and already felt nauseated (سردیم کردبود). When i progressively got worse the restaurant's excellent service became one with compassion. I absolutely hate leaving a bad review but the restaurant needs to hear this for their own self growth. Their food is spectacular, we ordered lamb shank, kebab, and some side dishes. The two stars strictly goes to their service. We had to ask for things at least three times until they were brought and if you didn't ask for anything assume they wouldn't check up on you. At one point they closed the door next to us so we wouldn't be able to ask for anything. The passive aggressive attitude from the female server working on Mother's Day 2022 was not acceptable by any level of service. Next time there will only be takeout. read more

Excellent Persian food for delivery and dine in. Their portions are very generous and found all the menu items I tried to be delicious. Their skewers of chicken, steak and seasoned ground beef are all flavourful and juicy. Their lamb shank is also very flavourful and tender. The flatbread they serve is very standard store bought pita bread and would be far better toasted than served cold. Much prefer traditional Persian flatbread that I've had at other restaurants but not a big deal overall. Friendly staff when dining in and care is taken with food that is packed for delivery. Very good foods and services. I ordered a Vaziri and the chicken & ground beef kebabs tasted yummy. There are a few Persian restaurants in the neighborhood and you can get the same dish for half the price, but not the same quality and presentation. Their rice was crispy in the surface and soft inside, excellent. A glass of house red at $5.99 is unbeatable and went well with the meats. One thing is the metallic plates they use are very light, so the meats keep running away from me. Anyway I will be back with other members of my family very soon. read more

My friend had booked a specific table for breakfast; she was on the phone for 45 minutes and finally confirmed. We got there; the table was occupied, we waited for 45 minutes! The staff could not do anything to make the arrangement and serve us. They were not even trying to make this up. The manager was not there. The staff seemed to have to strategy to ask the customers to move and make the table ready. After 45 minutes, finally, we could sit at that table. But we needed to give them reminders for every one of our orders. Slow, ignorant and not respectful. And at the end the manager did mot even bother himself to come and apologize. The food was dry and expensive not worth the money. I am sorry to say that it seems that Khaghan is following the same path most of the Persian restaurant have been taking. Fair note - we went to north Vancouver to the same restaurant and Loved it! So now we are trying the downtown one... After waiting 10 min to our pre-reserved we were seated and got our orders in Well, as high the expectations we had - the reality hit us hard. We ordered this rice which supposed to be crunchy and hard with stew on top and we also ordered some type of eggplant salad. The rice and stew were probably done at the beginning of the week as when we got it it was microwave warming which turned the crunch into soft old rice The eggplant salad was reasonable.. not amazing though.. As we eat the appetizers we were served with the main course log meh kebab .., it just came out from the same microwave oven ... the rice was not hot and the meat was obviously made long time ego. We actually feel cheated as microwave food is a shame to serve in a restaurant After we waited for the waitress for 20 min we managed to get some sweet baklava which was good but did not sweeten the experience oh yes - we wanted Persian tea but were told that they "run out of tea" !!!! As we did not want to punish the waitress we did not express our disappointment We did find out however that the restaurant in North Vancouver is not the same ownership which make us feel better in stating - NEVER AGAIN for the downtown Vancouver khaghan !!! Don't eat here...NO concept of what good service is. Shame, because it starts with the management. Been here (DT location) 3 times and 2 of those we sat inside. Bothe times the service was horrible !! first time it took us 1:10 min to get our food...( the food delivery service was WAY MORE important to assist than the people sitting in the restaurant. Second time we had to go up to -1 get cutlery -2 water cups -3 order beer -4 to go containers -5 ask for the bill. As a Iranian, I hate to right a bad review of my own people, But there are 3 other restaurants just within 5 min walking distance.....try them.
