I never understood why people said that Super Taco was super dirty--I was like "WTF it's a taco stand, it's on the street, of course it's going to be a little dirty." I totally get it now, it wasn't until recently that I discovered that they had an indoor dining area. It's dirty. LOL. Just order at the window outside and take your food to go. I think the reason why the burritos are so good is because of the rice--it's so fluffy and flavorful! Plus, they only cost $3.50 (cheap eats, yay). I'm a fan of the red salsa. It's smoky, as the red chiles are grilled the night before for next day's batch. +1 for being open late; I believe up to 2am Fri-Sat. That's unheard of in Oxnard...wild! read more

This place is disgusting. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and for those that know me, never ever fails. But this place does. The tortilla was dry and stale. The meat tasted old and was really chewy. The WORST part was halfway into the burrito I tasted something sour... it tasted like an old wet rag or moldy cheese. I looked into the burrito and noticed something green and surrounded by think liquid. I swear it looked like mucus. Like something hocked up a loogie in my burrito. Why would they do that? In the heart of the nard, super taco on 5th street is one of the best hole in the wall Mexican resturants. I say the sketchier the place looks the better! They cook the meat lard so it's really tasty! and the hot sauce is quite delicious also it has the right amount of flavor and the right amount of spicy-ness! The burritos are HUGE and they are generous with the amount of chips. -service is usually good -indoor seating is kinda dirty so it's best to get it to go - long lines aren't really a problem, but the best times are after lunch and after dinner hours. I know everyone loves TDM but these guys are no different. I like that you can just walk up to the window from the outside to order. They have a nice lounge area with a a walkup window as well. In case it's too cold to be outside. I always get the cabeza burrito with cheese, sour cream and salsa verde. Don't forget the large horchata too. Soo good. Super Taco is one step to the right side of the wrong side of the tracks, but it's far enough: across the street from a vaquero gear store selling stiff, starchy jeans and dazzlingly white sombreros and around the corner from the projects and within walking distance from the Oxnard Amtrak Station. Sheltered from the army of tractors and cranes at work on nearly every corner replacing this city's once-ubiquitous strawberry fields with taupe-colored tract home, the three stools outside this taco shack are the perfect place to get a glimpse of the real Oxnard, CA before it dissipates completely into the rest of suburban California. These tacos here are almost as thick as your wrist, the green sauce is excellent, the pastor is tangy, and even the shredded chicken only has crunchy parts like half of the time. And maybe it's just 'cause the Wal-Mart twenty blocks down has kept inflation low like Fox News always says, but Super Taco is cheap. If you spend three bucks, you'll be full. Fine, yes. This place is dirty. I, however, am there for the food. I don't recommend eating there as the tables are often dirty & because the customers can be a little too blunt about checking you out (warning to the ladies). I rarely eat in & already know what to expect, but more often than not, the food's usually to go... The burritos there are unrivaled in Oxnard, particularly when you consider the price, a mere $3.50! I've probably been eating @ this place since before I was even born, so I can confidently say their burritos are consistently good. I actually came for the carnitas place down the street but they were closed. Didn't want to go back empty so tried this place but should have kept on going. $1.75 for tacos; ordered 2 carne asada, carnitas, and al pastor for $7. They were pretty small and although I asked for all the topping, lazy cook missed about half of the surface. Carnitas was good, asada just okay, but pastor was swimming in fat/juice. I love this place....or more accurately, I love their wet burritos because that is all I've ever ordered from here. I have tried to venture out, and no doubt the rest of the menu is good, I'm just stuck on the wet burritos. All the meat is good weather beef, pork or chicken. The only downside is after they make it, put sauce and cheese on, they put it in the microwave while still in the styrofoam container. This is the best place I've found so far for burritos in this area. I always get the carne asada burrito with cheese added. I usually buy from the walk up window and eat somewhere else. Decent little dirty taco stand with all the standard offerings tacos burritos quesadillas tortas. Eat in and you get a nice view of the bars on all the windows. Some of the best Mexican food around. Very competitive pricing for the amount of food you get. Burritos and tortas always fill me up and I eat a lot. And they actually grill and season the asada onsite, rather than using the pre-cut/pre-seasoned crap most of the other places/taco trucks use. I've read all the reviews for this place and the only part that makes me think it was the same place was "dirty". When it comes to taquerias I like another yelper support the dirtier the better. This place is just straight dirty! Even the pics of the food didn't look anything to the slop I ate. I ordered 1 chicken taco and 1 al pastor taco. I ordered at the window which seems safer because you can run to your car if shooting starts but bad because you see the gross food handling they got going on! First question, is the chicken grilled or shredded? The response in perfect English (which proves there was no language barrier), grilled. Funny, why the F did watch you scoop chicken soup like shredded chicken into what would soon be a soggy tortilla? As with many of my reviews of al pastor, just because its pork with a spicy seasoning doesn't make it al pastor. So I wasn't totally surprised to watch him scoop soupy shredded pork with a red tint into what surely would be a soggy tortilla. It is what it is....street food. The tacos great, but the burritos steal the show. Nothing has changed there since the early 80's except the added seating and the added safety of the removal of the "historic" Lemon Tree hotel and the cleanup of the downtown area in general. As young servicemen we were often accosted by the law on late weekends to get out of the area due to the rampant crime in those days. Despite their persistence we never left with out getting our burritos. They would usually end up waiting for us to get the grub and see us gone. LOL Forget dining in....Dining? Needless to say, i paid $9 bucks for the burrito and I asked for 3 salsas and the so call owner, gave me a hard time!!!She was talking about how she's the owner and she had to watch the cost so she needed to charge me for the extra salsa. Decided to eat here because we wanted carne asada fries. Considering that carne asada fries is not the easiest thing to find this far from San Diego, it wasn't bad. But it wasn't great. Fries were nice and crispy. However, I wish there was guacamole and more carne asada. It's a taco stand in Downtown Oxnard, so it's not the cleanest place in the world. I had one bad experiance with a burrito ( too much rice plus asked for chile verde got something else ? )complained to the manager and they didn' t give a .... Asked to the owner was not given his name after calling a title company was able to get his name wrote a letter to the owner and no response. There meat has little to no fat or gristle, which is different from most taco joints in the Nard. Trust me, I've been to 95% of them.
