The staff is always friendly and pleasant, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy working here. There are plenty of seating options: a cozy bar area, three separate dining rooms, a large patio with its own bar, and even picnic tables out back. I think the upstairs may be reserved for private events. Every time I visit, I end up ordering the same thing because it's just that good--the Naked Chicken three-piece. Absolutely delicious! I'm also glad they now offer two sides with your entrée for a small extra charge. The mac & cheese and green beans are both amazing. I've tried a cocktail or two, but usually skip them since the portions are small for the price. Overall, this is such a fun, charming spot with consistently great food. Definitely one of my go-to favorites! Add it to the Love List

Who would have thought the historic Oliver house in Rowlett would be transformed into a…read moreMexican-Inspired Fried Chicken spot? Not me! Brick and Bones Backyard is a blue house on the corner of Main St. in Rowlett, Tx, that has been transformed into something magical. This Mexican-Inspired "chicken shop" is offering fried & rotisserie chicken, classic cocktails, and live music in a rustic setting. The menu is diverse and offering all things chicken that is brined 24 hours, fried and can be order breaded or naked( for the gluten-free in you). They also have rotisserie chicken, tenders, sandwiches, salads, bowls and wings, along with unique sides. Poblano mashed potatoes, habanero mac n cheese, mexican corn, etc... often garnished with fresh radish and cilantro around out the menu, with top notch service to boot. Mi marido ordered the breaded fried chicken, mexican corn and poblano mashed potatoes and gravy. The chicken was well seasoned with a great crunch. The potatoes had good flavor, but were barely warm. I can imagine their greatness heated. The mexican corn on the other hand was the real elote deal! The fresh snap of sweet corn, dosed with cotija cheese and spices lives up to the hype! Sweet, spicy, savory, it hit all the flavor profiles. I had the naked chicken with an order crinkle fries(faves) which was greatly appreciated for it's gluten-freeness and flavor. However, it was abit overcooked. Which left it thready and a little dry. The sauce that accompanied it, was needed, but shouldn't have been, while the fries were fresh, but undercooked. The concept and flavors make Brick & Bone standout on the chicken front. Better execution can make it a cut above the rest. Check It Out!

Feels like downtown without the travel. We have done multiple stone bowls and quesos. The husband loves the burrito and I have tried the empandas and different tacos. One thing that holds is back, the drinks.... so sweet. Just be known. What a great way to not worry about sweet drinks is go for brunch. We did the flight, so we got three different juices and champagne, perfect. I was disappointed to see the menu online had breakfast empanadas, but they were just standard ones when we got there. He got the chimi and I did the birria bowl... fantastic. Great place for a snazzier mexican dinner or brunch.

The Guac was fantastic, but the drink was not. Ordered the shrimp tacos and a different drink. This time both were not good. The shrimp was cold and you only get 2 tacos. The service was good and the place was packed, but I wouldn't come back.

I asked the server to ask the kitchen if they could make me a savory crepe, and they did it for me. I had two crepes with spinach, mushrooms, and mozzarella with an extra side of hollandaise. It was so delicious! It was everything I was hoping it would be. I think I was charged a base price for the crepes, then individually charged for each added ingredient. But it was no problem because it's not on the menu, and it was no more expensive than the sweet crepes anyway. Plus, they accommodated me with me no problem. Their lattes are really good as well. The restaurant itself is a nice quiet place with lots of natural light and open space. There is a bar also, for the bar people who don't like to sit at tables or in booths. Also, the Benedict and brunch potatoes are really good too!

And my biggest pet peeve: entrees AND appetizers came out at the SAME time. Other tables around us got their service in the right order, so... was it us? A table seated after us got their appetizers within 5-10 minutes. Then their mains. Just really shoddy service I'm sad to say. And whatever you do, do NOT order the Spinach Artichoke dip... so runny, watery... probably straight from the microwave. Absolutely inedible. But hey, the view overlooking the lake was nice! UPDATE: To be fair, they did comp us a desert to go, so there's that.

He ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries; which he said was very flavorful and he would definitely order it again! For me, he ordered the smash-burger with fries and extra pickles. The Smashburger patties were surprisingly thick, but really delicious! I was disappointed that they did not give me the tomato with the lettuce (which was completely wilted and not edible); but that didn't stop me from eating the burger, lol. Thank you for the extra pickles... maybe they should be "placed" vs a "pile of pickles". The fries were delicious! We will definitely return, there's so much on the menu that's worth ordering!

Since we were going to the show, why not go for dinner? I mean we have never been. Love that you can book reservations online. Super easy to get through the gate and it has amazing views. We were greeted by the host who was so kind. The place was super busy, I assume due to the show. So, we had to wait about 10 minutes. Table right in the middle of action... 1 min... 2 min... 7 minutes no greeting nothing and a woman walks by and says she will be right us. Cool. Thanks for letting us know. Walks past us 4 more times and nothing. The good thing is clearly someone else noticed and brought us water and said she was helping while the server got caught up. Okay. Everything will be OK. Whole ordering our drinks the server took over. Ordered drinks. App and 2 entrees. Then she was gone. 30 minutes after seating... nothing. Not even drinks yet. 32 minutes... she brings my husband's can of beer. No glass. No manhatten. She says they are working on mine. After 32 minutes (at least 20 minutes after ordering our drink)... can we have a glass? 5+ minutes later she brings me my manhattan... in a wine glass? Before I smell it I ask if its a manhattan because it looked like wine (damn good pour). Her response... I don't know. Never had one before. And still no glass. A. The Manhattan was fabulous and a ridiculously amazing pour. And for the cost... damn. Thats amazing. We decided she never rang in our drinks. Its the only thing that makes sense. It had really quieted down and the bartenders were working hard. And thats fine. But own it. Another 40 minutes and she stopped by once. Said our food was coming. But honestly haven't had a server who seemed to care less about her table in quite a while. Food came about 45 minutes after ordering. We ordered the Philly egg rolls... flavor was awesome. But they were cold. Clearly they had been sitting... for a while. Literally the cheese had melted onto each other and cooled. The entrees came at the same time. Smash burger and chicken fried chicken. Both honestly really good. The mashed potatoes were cold though... not sure if its because they werent kept warm in the prep station or if our plates just died waiting on server. Flavors were good though, including the gravy and fries. Good seasoning. We asked for ranch. Can you believe she never brought it? Nope us either. Seriously. The service was the worst we had in a while. It seemed exlusive to our table/server. I finally got her name at the end... Leandra. I am not trying to put her on blast everyone has a bad night. When my husband asked about the ranch. She said oh I forgot that too.. no apologies for that or the entire night. I said well it has been a rough night... she said yep. Here's the check. We are super nice... lots of grace... but this service made me almost want to not return. But... this is a small business trying to create something for our community. So im going to return oncs more and score is based on potential. But please owners.... staff is hard to come by, and maybe it was a rough night... but no one will survive if 30 minutes with not even drinks and cold food is acceptable. Its a beautiful space, flavorful food and great energy im very hopeful.
