Hot pot
Erika M.

Really delicious ramen and hot pot at this small, hospitable restaurant with excellent service. I forgot to take a photo of the chashu pork ramen before digging in, but trust me, it's tasty with delicious broth, an egg that was boiled to perfection and delicious pork and veggies as well as toothsome ramen noodles. Hubble chose the hot pot with beef and tom yam soup. We ordered and enjoyed potato croquettes. The server also brought us some complimentary wonton after we ordered, too. Great meal!!

Super delicious! This spot is still the best sizzling pan eateries in the Bay Area. The food is always hot, fresh, and super tasty. The meat is thinly sliced, marbled, and is a flavor blast. The rice, veggies, and egg is a delicious combination of flavors. They give you a choice of sauces, ask for more if you like it saucey. Their boba drinks are an added treat. They have a full service boba shop inside of the restaurant. The staff is always friendly and pleasant.

When we got there the staff were super nice and the food was hot and it was good.It was very peaceful eating my food everything is 5 stars. It was very cool the place was all painted beside the floor and there is anime stuff that I like

There aren't many sizzling plate options in SF, and it's nice to have an affordable option in the Richmond without going to another city. The serving size is nice, and their ingredients taste like good quality. I especially like the fact that they don't skimp out on the pepper at all for the pepper sauces, so that it actually has a real kick. Service is nice and they also gave free appetizers with coconut curry! Would recommend for an affordable option in the Richmond.

Super Pan is ?... an iron platter place, a fried food place, a boba place, a curry place, a noodle soup place,???? Well, this kinda describes what you can get here, which means almost anything that you might think of as Fast Food Asian. Thus, you or your group will find something to eat... not knock your socks off but enough to satisfy your current need and probably to take home to doctor up. Had a few items...would suggest going with their basic pepper beef with egg on the hot iron platter. Convenient parking on busy Geary, polite and efficient service, cafe like ambiance....

Beef hot pot $17.99

Very reasonable priced and large portions ... We live in Danville, but whenever we are in the city, this is our to go place for sizzling lunch. Our normal dishes have been their signature, rice with beef and pepper sauce on sizzling iron plate. This time, the owner recommended individual hot pot with beef ($17.99). We were a bit hesitant since we always eat AYCE with hot pot and worried it would not be enough. We were wrong... we could not finish. Definitely worth the $ and the tomato soup base was perfect. When you walk in, don't be fooled by the lack of customers. Both the owner and waiter were very nice and friendly. Worth every one of the five stars.

Mango Sago w/ Lychee Jelly
Ansh P.

This review is specifically for 2 things that I regularly re-order from Super Pan. First, the Mango Sago with Lychee Jelly. It's a boba drink I've ordered from at least 10 different places but the quality and sweetness have the best overall balance and taste at Super Pan. Second, their curry fish balls are also outstanding. The softness of the fish balls, the quality of the frying and the way it renders the outer layer, and lastly the taste/quantity/consistency of the curry set this classic apart at Super Pan. I will add that while I love these 2 items I'm actually not a big fan of their mainstream "super pan" dishes. But .. will keep going back for the fish balls and mango sago!!

Fried tofu

Parking might be a bit difficult, but the food was legit. Started with the fried tofu that were served hot, crispy, and with the perfect amount of saltiness. Kiddo loves his noodles, so he went with the karaage chicken ramen. Love that the chicken was served on the side, and it was a decent portion. Hubs went with the beef pasta, and he ate the whole thing up. I went with the super ribeye steak. That garlic butter definitely added to it, and the pepper garlic sauce just topped it all off. The Guava green tea was a good refresher. Hubs liked the Vietnamese coffee, and kiddo noted he really liked te coconut paradise. As mentioned, portions were good and prices were reasonable. We'd definitely return.

This place is actually realllllly goooood. Been here a couple times already. It's pretty small inside, and it's divided between a normal restaurant & and just a cash register for boba drinks. My favorite here is actually their fried tofu because it comes out freshly cooked and it's actually cooked exactly how I like my fried tofu. You just can't go wrong with this place if you like anything from the menu. Service is also really fast & they're very attentive even during busy times. Only downside is parking here since it's located at Geary. P.S. The pan comes in sizzling hot, so the meat cooks infront of you (IT IS NOT RAW MEAT) Lol

Steph C.

Ordered the chicken karaage ramen with large portions of chicken served separately. Staff friendly and service is fast. This is a separate restaurant next to the boba stand and you can order drinks together with your meal as well. I think they're known for their sizzling rice pans that is big enough to share - will try that next time.

We have been here for years and I kept forgetting to review. Overall good food for a reasonable price and the next door e tea is also bonus. We love their chashu ramen and beef pan dishes.

Super Pan, super delicious! After all these years, this place still brings us back with their yummy food. The steak ribeye is still my favorite but other dishes are great also. Friendly service and courteous ambiance. Not open on Tuesdays.

Ordered take out. Food was good and hot. I thought the portions was going to be small since it was in those black take out containers, but it was quite filling.

My friend and I happened to walk in right at 5 p.m., landing perfectly at Happy Hour (truly, divine timing). But honestly, it's probably the best time to come. We were seated quickly, and so begins our alcoholic adventure. I can't speak much to the fish, but everything we ordered was a hit. First: get the lychee beer. I'm not even big on alcohol, but I somehow ended up three or four rounds in... heh. Anyways, the yakitori (we got pork belly and chicken thigh) were juicy and packed with flavor, and the karaage was crispy, tender, and perfect with the sauce. We actually ordered multiple rounds of everything and left feeling very full and very festive. Overall, Public Izakaya is a gem tucked behind an unassuming storefront. The ambiance, the food, and yes, the beer, makes it an easy go-to whenever I'm back in the city. Consider me a convert!

Came into town last night to catch a show at the Masonic Auditorium & we were looking for a bite to…read moreeat & some drinks before the show. Since there isn't much to do around the immediate top of Nob Hill, we came back down to explore the neighborhood around Union Square & found Public Izakaya as our dinner spot. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you enter the doors, you enter a world that is classically Tokyo/Shinjuku. Decor is everywhere, on the walls, the ceiling, with toys, figurines, art, plants, anime, lanterns, books, and other sort of interesting, authentically Japanese trinkets. The interior space is very appealing and everywhere you look, you'll see something that catches your eye & imagination. They put a lot of work into decorating this space! It's big & small at the same time. Tables are a plenty, but space is tight. It's really hard to get around in here, you'll have to squeeze between people, tables, chairs, and just walking to the bathroom or your table, you'll have to zig-zag and squeeze past many obstacles. But, it's worth it, and classically Japanese Izakaya, and judging from the packed restaurant on a Friday night, everyone came here to socialize, eat, drink, and hangout & have fun. Music was also very pop-py Japanese, so it really set the right mood for an energetic & fun experience. The service was great. Lots of wait staff roaming around the restaurant ready to take orders & answer questions. Prices are fairly affordable, and offers you a chance to try many small dishes, or splurge on larger entrees. Since we were going to a concert that would go well into the night, we wanted to keep or food intake light, and alcohol intake heavy! The cocktails are good, diverse, creative, authentic, and tasty, but rather small for $15. There is no bartender, the drinks come out to you from the kitchen, but service was fast & efficient. We tried a Lemon Sour, Lychee Mojito, and Ume Shiso. Each were well crafted & presented, but pretty tiny and with very little alcohol, but lots of flavor. We ordered the Mushroom Hot plate, Agadashi Tofu, and salt & pepper broccoli. Food was tasty, portions small, and everything was pretty salty & oily. It's an Izakaya, so I did expect small plates to share in between sips of drinks, but I think the food kind of missed the mark. I ended up feeling a little sick from the salt & oil in the food, but the alcohol kept me going. I think we will come back to try some fresher seafood & Sushi next time, and skip the heavy fried appetizers. Might also stick to wine, beer, or sake, as the cocktails were pretty pricey & small & weak in alcohol. But, it's a really fun, upbeat spot. Lots of eye candy to look at as you are hanging out, eating, drinking, and having fun. The decor & atmosphere is so fun, creative, detailed, and pop-culture Japanese. I really felt like I was transported to an Izakaya in Tokyo for the hour that we were there. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, and I'd like to go back to explore the menu as well as artwork & displays around the restaurant. We had 3 drinks and 3 appetizers, and our bill was around $100. We left satisfied with our Japanese Izakaya experience here, only disappointed by the size & weakness of the alcoholic cocktails, the saltiness & greasiness of the fried foods, and I even felt a little bit fat trying to squeeze into the aisles & tables of the restaurant as a 6' 150" thin asian man, lol. Oh well, I guess Tokyo is dense and Japanese spaces are supposed to be small, tight, and narrow. That mostly added to the authentic Japanese Izakaya experience. PS, it's pretty loud & crowded & busy here, so don't expect to have a calm, quiet, and peaceful conversation here, you'll have to shout above the music, chatter, and noise of the urban jungle here, which actually adds to the classic Izakaya experience. It was a lot of fun, but not a lot alcohol. 3 cocktails and I didn't even catch a buzz!

For $18, you get an incredible spread: * your choice of gyoza, shumai, or tofu * a California roll or avocado roll * a protein of your choice Plus it all comes with edamame, miso soup, and seaweed salad. Honestly? That's my kind of deal. Everything we tried was delicious. In addition to the lunch box, we ordered a dragon roll and a dynamite roll, both of which were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. My husband went with the Una Ten Donburi. It was tasty, but at $30, it did feel a bit steep compared to the rest of the menu. The restaurant looked like your typical Japanese style space with the sushi rollers at the entrance and simple tables and decor. I do have two minor negatives worth mentioning. First, the edamame was cold and unsalted. I'm an edamame lover, and nothing beats it hot, freshly steamed, and generously showered in salt. So that was a little disappointing. Second, our server (I believe his name was Kayz) seemed visibly annoyed when we asked to split the check. As a server myself, I know this isn't rocket science, and guests should never be made to feel uncomfortable for something so standard, especially after there had already been a small mix-up with our roll order (we received two dynamite rolls instead of one dynamite and one dragon). We didn't make a fuss at the time because mistakes happen, but the attitude at the end definitely stood out. That said, the food itself was solid, the lunch special is a fantastic value, and overall we still had a good experience. However, at the last minute, I went with the $19 Ika Yaki, a whole BBQ squid sliced and saturated in teriyaki sauce with a dab of shichimi mayo (Photo 8). The portion was generous and the texture was firm with enough elasticity. Unfortunately the teriyaki sauce did nothing to enhance the dish, and I wished they served it on the side. I also ordered the $8 Agedashi Tofu, usually a foolproof appetizer for me. It certainly looked right (Photo 9), but I was unpleasantly surprised how tongue-burning hot it was. The cubes of tofu must've just come right out of the deep fryer. The dashi broth helped calm the heat down but a little too late. I'm sure glad I sprung for the $3 bowl of Rice (Photo 10). I wanted to justify the relocation of Bubu being a prime factor but it was really just the service overall. You'll be handed a checklist for two rounds of ordering your happy hour deals; what I wish they did differently was mark off things that the table had received because.... Everything cameout very quickly besides the sashimi. For the sashimi; we waited nearly 30 minutes with about 4 staff members following up if we're ready for the next round; seems like there was no communication with the kitchen as we kept constantly saying we're missing things still. After getting the sashimi (10/10 stars though haha), it kinda didn't want us to order more for round 2... so we wrapped up and tried to get the bill but couldn't flag anyone down after getting the sashimi. Baked Lion King roll (5/10) was almost good; it wasn't baked fully, center was still cold, maybe leave it in the oven for a good 10 more minutes. Handrolls (10/10!!) high quality goodness with very generous slices of buttery avocado, i hope that one they do a fresh sashimi variant. The sauciness is delicious but something plain to really taste the fresh fish would be great! Bubus (6/10) felt more like an appetizer akin to shrimp toast but make it on crispy rice.
