Loved the noodle soup, it was so good! The hot pot was good and standard. Their grilled eggplant was spectacular. Inside is a nice space, it does fill up throughout the night though. The inside isn't the largest, but we were able to be seated fairly quickly still for a party of 5. The interior has a clean and more minimalistic vibe with good service. We decided to try out a variety of their skewers like the beef, lamb, chicken skin, grilled squid, and sausage skewers. They have some more uncommon meats here, so if you are more adventurous or want to try out cuts that are harder to find then this is a good place to go. We came here because my toddler loves grilled intestines, but it turned out to be disappointing. It took 35 minutes to get a few skewers and a squid. When the food did come out, even though he was starving, he wouldn't even touch it because the flavor was too strong: they put so much cumin on everything. In my opinion, a strong seasoning like this should be used sparingly. All the items were very salty. As an adult, I liked the spice of some dishes, but it was too much for a child. The chicken skewers were a bit on the dry side, though. It is Chinese Northeast (Dongbei) Style BBQ. The meat is juicy. The favor is good with mix of different spices, little spicy. Highly recommended grilled Tiger shrimp, lamb skewer, grilled fried tofu skins and Chongqing Xiao main. Staff is nice and friendly. I changed my mind about this place. I just recently moved to a neighborhood that's right by this place so I started getting more deliveries from them because I can get my food still steaming hot when it arrives. But what actually made me start liking this place a lot more it's their Malatang (spicy hot pot), it's fulled of different kinds of different ingredients, for meats there are fish tofu, cuttlefish balls, spam slices, calamari, sausages, beef tripes, and blood tofu, and for veggies there are seaweeds, potato slices, and cabbages, then you get vermicelli as staple food. The soup itself tastes great too I just wish it's not so oily and if they can drain out the chili skins & seeds, and peppercorns in the soup before serving. The skewers also tasted way better when they follow my instructions and add more seasonings. The tinfoil egg tofu is alright, same problem as the Malatang, too oily. But if you have the patience to scoop out all the oil on the surface it tastes pretty good. I also just noticed that they don't put any seasonings on the corn, I thought it was just bland last time I ordered but when I order it again asking for extra seasonings, I noticed that all the other skewers tasted way more flavorful and the corn is still flavorless. Each skewer included a fairly standard Chinese BBQ seasoning, which was dominated by a strong cumin taste. If you like cumin, you'll find that the seasoning pairs well with the crispiness, flavor, and juiciness of the meat options. If you don't enjoy cumin, you'll probably find the skewer offerings to be repetitive and overpowering in flavor. I love cumin though, so I had a blast eating most of the skewers, with the exception of the chicken. That would be my biggest critique, as the chicken had this strange, rubbery texture. As for the other dishes, the grilled potatoes were decent, but the Chongqing noodles were delicious. The noodles were seasoned with mala spice (think spicy and mouth-numbing) and I found them to be savory and delectable. To be fair though, your enjoyment of this dish will also depend on how much you like mala seasoning. Overall, I enjoyed my meal here, but I recognize that the mileage may vary. As mentioned above, the divide comes down to how much you enjoy cumin and mala spice. Woah, the northern Chinese folks in the City have found their spot! Came here earlier on a Friday night. If you get here after 6 p.m., expect to wait. They give you a menu and a dry erase marker to mark how many of each skewer you want. We did a bit of an assortment, and just waited. Food comes out on giant trays and associated with each grouping. So all our meats came on one plate. All the seafood came on another. The food itself was pretty decent but nothing special. I think if I were northern Chinese, this would at least give me some nostalgia of home. My struggle is that when I have skewers in China, it comes in smaller batches.
