The ingredients are incredibly fresh, the broths are flavorful and well-balanced, and the owner is super warm and welcoming. What really makes this place stand out are the broths, the fresh Chinese donut, and the hand-pulled noodles. M Pot was a bit of a mixed bag for me. The big downside is it's not all you can eat, you pay per item, which feels pretty restrictive and adds up fast. One person is our group was a vegetarian who didn't have many options to work with, so that was a little disappointing. Maybe go here if everyone eats lots of meat and wants to pay per item to try different things! That said, the place was super clean and the service was awesome, genuinely attentive and friendly the whole time. So while it wasn't really my spot, I can see why people like it. Great hot pot spot on Clement! The woman serving and helping us order was very nice and made the whole experience easy, especially if it's your first time. The duck soup base and medium signature base were both super good, but be careful of spice levels!! I thought medium was going to be mellow and I was wrong. Love the pick-your-own-ingredients setup. SUPERB QUALITY MEAT, VEG, AND SEAFOOD + WELCOMING HOSTESS After Little Sheep/Happy Lamb closed in downtown SF, we discovered the wonderful DNM Mongolian hot pot on Clement...then THAT closed! So began the search for a new, authentic hot pot restaurant. Enter M Pot! Superb quality meat, vegetables, and seafood, including MANY authentic, hard-to-find ingredients like goose intestine, duck blood, kidney slices, and brain. The hostess was extremely kind and welcoming and spoke excellent English to us non-Chinese customers. At our 2-pot table we got one pot with half medium-spicy and half pork bone broth; the other pot had mild-spicy in half and mushroom in the other. Honestly, out of these 4, I think the clear winner was the MEDIUM-spicy beef tallow broth. But I do wish it had had the same depth of flavour that the old Happy Lamb or DNM broths had. But this was compensated for by the fantastic quality and variety of the meat dishes on offer. The sauce-bar was quite complete, including my favourite of fermented red beancurd---forgot to take a photo of that, and some other dishes, though. M Pot is easily one of the best places for authentic Chongqing hotpot in SF! The vibe is super low-key and cozy! The owner lady is honestly the sweetest & you can tell there's a lot of care put into everything. Must order item: egg fried rice!!! I know egg fried rice at a hotpot spot?! I was skeptical the first time as well but it proved me wrong and it was the best egg fried rice I've ever had!! Also, DO NOT skip the fried pork. It's so crispy and flavorful! This place serves incredibly delicious, fresh and authentic Chongqing hotpot. I came here on a recommendation from my girlfriend who is from Chongqing and it did not disappoint! I was particularly impressed by the quality of the meat. Normally I'm not a big fan of eating hotpot outside because the quality of the meat tends to be much worse. But I think I've finally found a hot pot place that I can trust 100%. All the veggies are fresh and the shrimp paste dish is made using top quality prawns. They put a lot of effort into the other dishes as well -- fried rice is made individually per portion and not in a big pot and then reheated like many other restaurants. It's been a minute since I have been back here because I live in the other side of the city, but coming in again honestly reminded me why I should make more trips out to the Richmond district of SF. They did a full remodel and changed up the concept, and now they are a full hot pot restaurant which I actually love even more! The place looks really clean inside with a bunch of tables that can fit up to parties of eight. They use these super fast induction burners that get the broth boiling quick and the staff stay on top of the refills so that the broth never runs dry. They had many options for soup broths from clean broths such as the fish maw and chicken or something more deep tasting like their spicy beef tallow option. Ordering was super simple, they give you a sheet and you just check off whatever you want. We focused a lot into their veggies and proteins. We ordered the nicer cuts like kobe beef and Angus prime ribeye from the Chef's Specials section. They even have those rare and super hard to find organ meats I love too, like beef tripe, goose intestines, and even duck blood, and of course we ordered them too! My brothers and I ended up ordering a bit of everything on the menu because we were all excited and not paying attention to each other. It turned into a fun eating expedition for the four of us with the common goal that nothing is to be uneaten! All the food came out fresh and presented nicely. I really enjoyed the Kobe beef ribeye too. It came out on this huge wooden board that looked like a big chopping block stacked with thin slices, and it looked crazy good when they set it down right next to me. Hot pots in groups is always a good time for me and this place definitely made the whole meal easy and enjoyable. Going to be back soon for the proteins. read more

Just checked out this hotpot place and the flavor was absolutely amazing! You can find a variety of ingredients for hotpot which is classic in China but rare finds here in the US. Honestly I haven't seen anywhere else serving bamboo mushrooms for hotpot, and gladly I find it here, and it tastes great. The base was so flavorful and the owner told us they cooked the base in house. We also really enjoyed our dessert, 冰粉and糍粑. Both business owners came from Chongqing and they brought their passion into serving customers with good food and service, they helped us clear the foam on the surface as well, which was very nostalgic to me. Stumbled across this place while craving hot pot. The place is clean and their broths available are really yummy! I enjoyed their meat cuts as well and the service was super nice. When the rice was taking too long to cook, they swapped it for us with their handmade noodles. They were super accommodating and sweet. At the end, the owner even made us and gave us complimentary jelly dessert! Everything was so good and this place is a favorite of mine now. Price was reasonable too!! M Pot might be the best hot pot I've tried. Lilly was super welcoming and helpful in explaining some of the less common items on the menu. She won't steer you wrong! We asked for medium and she suggested we try mild first and she was right, it was our medium/hot. Quality and variety of ingredients really stood out from handmade noodles to authentic homemade Chinese desserts. The meat portions were big and the broths were really tasty. It's a la carte but we still ate like it was AYCE and the price reflected that. Next time we we'll order a little less and try some other Lilly recommendations. You won't regret coming here.
