Half MILD spicy + half mushroom

SUPERB QUALITY MEAT, VEG, AND SEAFOOD + WELCOMING HOSTESS After Little Sheep/Happy Lamb closed in downtown SF, we discovered the wonderful DNM Mongolian hot pot on Clement...then THAT closed! So began the search for a new, authentic hot pot restaurant. Enter M Pot! Superb quality meat, vegetables, and seafood, including MANY authentic, hard-to-find ingredients like goose intestine, duck blood, kidney slices, and brain. The hostess was extremely kind and welcoming and spoke excellent English to us non-Chinese customers. At our 2-pot table we got one pot with half medium-spicy and half pork bone broth; the other pot had mild-spicy in half and mushroom in the other. Honestly, out of these 4, I think the clear winner was the MEDIUM-spicy beef tallow broth. But I do wish it had had the same depth of flavour that the old Happy Lamb or DNM broths had. But this was compensated for by the fantastic quality and variety of the meat dishes on offer. The sauce-bar was quite complete, including my favourite of fermented red beancurd---forgot to take a photo of that, and some other dishes, though. Bottom line: HIGHLY recommend, and we will be back!

This is one of those Iykyk spots... like you almost don't want to say too much because it feels like a hidden gem, but it's too good not to share. M Pot is easily one of the best places for authentic Chongqing hotpot in SF! The vibe is super low-key and cozy! The owner lady is honestly the sweetest & you can tell there's a lot of care put into everything. Must order item: egg fried rice!!! I know egg fried rice at a hotpot spot?! I was skeptical the first time as well but it proved me wrong and it was the best egg fried rice I've ever had!! Also, DO NOT skip the fried pork. It's so crispy and flavorful! And all the hotpot ingredients, especially the fish fillet and meats, were super fresh and high quality. Highly recommend checking this place out if you're into Chongqing hot pot!

This place serves incredibly delicious, fresh and authentic Chongqing hotpot. I came here on a recommendation from my girlfriend who is from Chongqing and it did not disappoint! I was particularly impressed by the quality of the meat. Normally I'm not a big fan of eating hotpot outside because the quality of the meat tends to be much worse. But I think I've finally found a hot pot place that I can trust 100%. All the veggies are fresh and the shrimp paste dish is made using top quality prawns. They put a lot of effort into the other dishes as well -- fried rice is made individually per portion and not in a big pot and then reheated like many other restaurants. Top of my list for hotpot!

It's been a minute since I have been back here because I live in the other side of the city, but coming in again honestly reminded me why I should make more trips out to the Richmond district of SF. They did a full remodel and changed up the concept, and now they are a full hot pot restaurant which I actually love even more! The place looks really clean inside with a bunch of tables that can fit up to parties of eight. They use these super fast induction burners that get the broth boiling quick and the staff stay on top of the refills so that the broth never runs dry. They had many options for soup broths from clean broths such as the fish maw and chicken or something more deep tasting like their spicy beef tallow option. Ordering was super simple, they give you a sheet and you just check off whatever you want. We focused a lot into their veggies and proteins. We ordered the nicer cuts like kobe beef and Angus prime ribeye from the Chef's Specials section. They even have those rare and super hard to find organ meats I love too, like beef tripe, goose intestines, and even duck blood, and of course we ordered them too! My brothers and I ended up ordering a bit of everything on the menu because we were all excited and not paying attention to each other. It turned into a fun eating expedition for the four of us with the common goal that nothing is to be uneaten! All the food came out fresh and presented nicely. I really enjoyed the Kobe beef ribeye too. It came out on this huge wooden board that looked like a big chopping block stacked with thin slices, and it looked crazy good when they set it down right next to me. Hot pots in groups is always a good time for me and this place definitely made the whole meal easy and enjoyable. Going to be back soon for the proteins.

If you're looking for legit Chongqing hotpot in SF, M Pot is the spot. The meats and veggies are fresh, and their egg fried rice is the best I've had. Super friendly service from the owner too. Highly recommend!

It honestly felt like we were ordering with a friend who just happens to know the entire menu inside and out. She gave amazing recommendations and even told us she makes the hot sauce from scratch (which... you can taste the difference). That level of care really set the tone for the whole night. Now the food... not a single miss. Seriously, not one thing we didn't like. We went with the Ultra menu ($108), which includes lobster, and it was 100% worth it. For broths, we chose the Tom Yum and Tonkotsu. Both were rich, flavorful, and perfect in completely different ways. The meat selection was incredible, especially the wagyu options, they literally melt in your mouth. You can tell the quality is top tier. The flame-torched wagyu nigiri was absolutely out of this world--perfectly balanced and paired with a wasabi powder that elevated every bite. We also had the hamachi cloud, which was so fresh, flavorful, and had the perfect crunch--such a standout dish. And the spicy clams? Easily one of our favorites. Super fresh, super tasty, and packed with flavor. Beyond the food, the entire staff made us feel genuinely welcomed, which made the experience even better. The location is perfect. It's right in the center of Japantown. Inside they have a bar where you can sit and talk with the servers face-to-face. And it's a great spot to people watch while you eat. I truly cannot recommend this place enough. Between the incredible quality, the variety, and the next-level service. This is a spot I'll be coming back to again and again (and yes, I'll absolutely be asking for Irene).

There was plenty of meat, veggie, and seafood options that we ended up indecisive at times since everything looked great. Our favorites were the beef toro, wagyu beef, and fish ball with roe. For the 6 of us, it was around $50 each with tip which isn't too bad considering it was all you can eat. The place is pretty chill and not busy that day. We sat at the booths and it wasn't that loud, so it was perfect for us to chat and catch up. Pretty quick service and a pleasant experience, this definitely hit the spot after a nice long hike!

Tons of noodle and veggie options, plus both a vegetarian and a vegan broth, so nobody at the table gets stuck. Everyone gets their own individual pot too, which I love, and the place is clean. Overall though, solid food and great bang for your buck. Would go back.

Granted we were a bit late for our reservation, we ended up having to wait another 30-40 mins. The place (2nd floor) is small & awkward. We were all cramped waiting on the stairway and the actual seating area is also fairly small for a busy KBBQ place/big parties. The 8 of us squeezed into a booth with 2 chairs on the side. You can also feel whenever the table next to us got up and stomped/yelled/moved in their chairs-- which was really often. The basic AYCE menu is fairly limited-- esp for the side options. The marinated meats were pretty good as was the tteokbokki. Side & meat portions were alright, but the kicker is having to flag down staff to make sure they put in the order & bring it out. We asked for japchae about 5 times before it actually reached our table towards the end of our meal. The server/manager also told us that he had accidentally brought out 2 bottles of soju for us and that he'd COMP 1 bottle. We didnt notice that he had actually charged us for 2 and comped/subtracted a "third" one. So none were really comped at all. I just realized after we paid and that felt really sketchy.
