We had the tomato soup base and the winter melon pork bone soup base and both were good. The wagyu beef was fresh and soft. There was also a great variety, from mushrooms, tofu, sweet potatoes and assorted vegetables to mussels, noodles, and pork, to choose from. They also had great already-cooked dishes and desserts. I especially like the fried buns and pumpkin parrake. I thought the price of under $38/person for the AYCE was decent and reasonable. The price covered all food except drinks. This one does the grill right, like their grill which seems to be ceramic or titanium that doesn't stick and burn easily. Marinate and thickness are about right. For hotpot variety is pretty good, standout is the large selection of soup varieties (but doesn't seem to have strong flavor, rather mild). Meat is fine though not much standout. Desert there is mochi ice cream. They biang biang hand pulled noodles are fun and good texture, though it is very hard to find very good biang biang noodles. Upon getting seated, we scanned the QR code to look at what's available (it's the same price for whether you eat both KBBQ and hotpot or only one type) to order everything and within minutes the food started coming out. Servers were great at handling our large orders of meat and sides, changing out our grill once it got too burnt, and also refilling our water cups. The food quality was mediocre--I ordered the steamed pork buns, and they came out cold in the middle. The broth was extremely diluted, so you're essentially cooking in plain water. This is going to be a long one and I really don't like writing negative reviews but all in all, I did not have a positive experience at iPot. After being turned away from San Tung, my friends and I headed to iPot, having heard wonderful things. Once we arrived, the entire wait time situation was immediately disorganized, as different waiters were telling us different things and not writing names down claiming they'd remember the order of everyone waiting. Finally, after about 20-25 minutes we were offered to either sit upstairs immediately or get a dining room spot in 5 minutes-we chose upstairs, optimistic of what it would be like. To our surprise, this second level was empty and seemed more like a storage attic than a place to eat. Not only were we the only ones up there but there was a huge black curtain covering us from the dining room and a large TV playing a Call Her Daddy ad that seemed to be over an hour long which we could not skip as there wasn't a remote. Of course, we immediately ask to sit downstairs and it seems they give the table away ASAP so we were stuck. It took probably 30 more minutes for them to finally seat us, a few times thinking they had forgotten about us as we were tucked away in the weird creepy attic. FINALLY they seat us and immediately the QR code on the table isn't working because they haven't activated our table yet. We wait about 15 minutes before asking they do so. We order 3 individual pots, an assortment of meat and veggies, 3 ramens, potstickers, and crab ragoons. First, the broths come which were pretty good and then the meats but everything else they seemed to forget about. And AFTER asking about our crab rangoons, they told us they were out and weren't sure why they were on the menu still. The waitress there (the only one I believe) was the only employee who seemed to actually care about our table (she should get a raise!!!) and checked in on us more than once. At one point, this waitress and seemingly the only person who cared we existed said maybe the kitchen was backed up to explain none of our food making it to the table, but it became clear as more and more things didn't arrive that that was not the case. One of our last orders was 3 potstickers (each order comes with 2 so should've been a total of 6) and they brought out 3 singular ones on a plate. I understand hotpot/Korean bbq is inherently self-service but the fact that NOTHING was coming out on time and we had to keep checking in, we couldn't even begin cooking until much later than we wanted. And mind you, they charge you $20 per person for things being unfinished and it is timed (though the cool waitress let us know later that she reset our time for when things actually started arriving). And guess what? It wasn't even that good. My broth, the pork coconut broth, was tasty but a little bland, and I have had much better tasting meats at other hotpot and Korean bbq spots in the city. Nothing truly wowed me besides the bulgogi which was very good but the rib eye, wagu, beef belly, and more were pretty underwhelming. I thought their sauce bar was so cool as well as the cold bar though they were out of kimchi and never replenished, disappointing for me as that's one of my favorites. They also offer complimentary ice cream, though they did not make us aware of that and we actually had to ask about it which was also disappointing. I don't think iPot isn't worth another try, perhaps on a less busy night I will give it another go, but I found this experience very long, irritating, and ultimately not worth the quality of the meal we got. $37.99 is a lot of money to spend on food! I believe they are understaffed and perhaps need to do more organization internally-especially because Manna and San Tung are down the street and a lot of people get turned away and end up at iPot so I hope they can learn to adapt to those crowds. Their upstairs dining room isn't suitable for any customers yet so I really hope they work on it a bit before opening it up to the public; or at least sweep back the curtains and check in on their customers up there every now and then. read more

Didn't even get to eat here due to the wait time for people with reservations We had a 7:00 pm reservation on Saturday (booked through Resy). The app showed plenty of availability, so we expected things to run on time. When we arrived, it was difficult to even check in, there didn't seem to be a dedicated host, and the person handling check-ins was also waiting tables. When we finally got to check in, we were told there would be a 15-20 minute wait. After 10 minutes, we checked again and got the same answer. We also noticed that tables seated at 7:00 were still waiting for their server 20 minutes later with no food. By 7:35, we were told our table was "almost ready," but we had other plans at 9:00 and decided to leave. Can't comment on the food or the ambiance, but the service and organization really need work. This was our first time and it was so yummy! Came at 6:30pm and it was the perfect time.

I booked a 7:00 pm reservation for Saturday through Resy a few days beforehand and decided to check 3 hours before heading over if any other time slots had been booked. I noticed they still had reservation slots open for every single time slot and thought, "okay cool we should have no problem." WRONG. There were a multitude of people with 7pm reservations as a result of them using three different reservation apps (Yelp, Resy, OpenTable) and not properly managing the slots between the three, which lead to overbooking and a very chaotic mess with a lot of unhappy customers wondering why we had to wait 30-40 extra mins with a reservation. And that's not even counting the people with 7:30 reservations who came in shortly after and had the same complaints for their time slot. My two cents: if you're going to go through the trouble of accepting reservations from three different apps, please put the extra effort required to manage them in conjuction with one another. read more

Our servers were really nice and accommodating. I gave some constructive criticism to their milk teas which were frankly not good at all. I've been on the hunt for a new hot pot spot but ipot is not it, unfortunately. The servers were nice enough but the atmosphere is kind of drabby and doesn't exactly strike health and sanitation! The sauce station was kind a mess, spoons everywhere. Kimchi in the watermelon, there was a sauce bowl with the clean bowls that did not get cleaned well. I came with friends on a Sunday afternoon and beat the lunch crowd. We got both the hotpot and the KBBQ selection and in my opinion, I would skip the KBBQ. They don't offer any banchan except kimchi at the sauce bar. In addition, the meat they offer is not the best, for example, they were all thinly sliced and you could tell that they were not suppose to be cooked on the grill but maybe for hotpot. The meat was chewy and not good in my opinion. As for hotpot, I thought it was tasty. We got the pork bone broth and the tom yum. The sauce bar offered plenty of options as well as the protein/veggie. The restaurant was big and offered plenty of seating but the floors were a bit oily. They also make you sign a waiver where you sign that it's not the restaurant's fault if you hurt yourself from the grill which I found strange. read more

All good things must come to an end...and unfortunately that's what happened to my favorite hotpot place after they changed owners. Everything has gone downhill from the service, the flavors, and the food quality. I don't trust any new reviews posted lately, especially the profiles with no other reviews but gave IPOT 5 starts saying they had excellent service...the service was non existent. We didn't even have utensils or plates on our table until after all our food had arrived and I asked the server twice, and one of the food runners. No one ever came by to ask us if we needed anything. They would walk by, look, obviously see we couldn't eat due to no plates or chopsticks, see that we really needed a grill change due to everything burning, empty water (didn't refill once), they even brought out food that wasn't ours. The only time the server was quick to come over and ask us something was "did you sign the waiver to eat here?". Never in my life have I had to sign a waiver to eat at a hotpot restaurant. She didn't explain it and rushed to another table leaving me with the iPad. I could tell she was avoiding explaining what the waiver was. Service was non existent and very slow. What got me was that we asked for the check and the server said I had to request it on my phone...I've never had an establishment deny getting me the check...even after we requested on the phone, we asked her 3 times to bring the check and she never brought it. She would walk by and ask if we wanted more water instead, you know, after we were done eating and wanted to pay. Then we had to wait another 15 min for the credit card to be grabbed and brought back to sign. The slices of meat were smaller than before, green onion pancake was flat, spring rolls were SO mushy inside...I couldn't even eat it! Sauce bar looks the same but I felt the flavors were watered down. You know something is suss when they offer A1 sauce and ketchup at the sauce bar. The broth also didn't taste as flavorful. They made the place look like a nightclub with dimmed blue lights, and were blasting spa music. It just felt super weird and no one there seemed to know what they were doing. They would walk around but were not attentive, doing one thing at a time or forgetting. I really miss the old IPOT. They had amazing food and amazing service. Everything was fast and workers knew what they were doing. Now it seems the workers are a bunch of high schoolers on summer vacation with no experience. Gave this place another try after seeing all the raving reviews. Turns out the 5 star reviews are being traded with the restaurant for 10% off their bill. Red flags- not much Asian people eating hot pot here, only one or two Asian staff, uncooked items came out so slow nearly an hour, snack items were cold ie short ribs and fries, sauce bar was beyond low quality ie ponzu was super sweet and had sugar granules, and the soup broths tasted like top ramen soup between the fish stock and the pork broth just with different toppings. I think the quality of the veggies were great but I didn't enjoy the sliced pork cuts that much. Nonetheless, I stay recommending iPot to all my friends. This is currently my favorite AYCE hot pot in the city for how affordable it is and the variety they have. The service is good and there's ample seating inside to hang out with a good group. My favorite was the shrimp paste balls. However, when we first walked in, we received a big round table, which actually looked good, but was not very conducive to a good hot pot experience. It was a little cramped and it was hard for some people to reach the hot pot. Plus they never shut the front door, which made things very breezy and Chilly. Last thing, there was a but noticeable odor of maybe an old rag that have been used to wipe our table. It was an unpleasant smell to start our meal. I've been here a few times, and I think the following faults happened every time, and I think they're caused by management's standards. * Every time they've forgotten a lot of dishes. For the first round, I ordered 17 dishes. They forgot 6 of them. I asked them about the dishes. They eventually brought 4 of the 6 missing ones. * they dropped off food that we didn't order, so after, I had to ask every time if we ordered that dish. * it took a while to find a server to ask for the missing food. It killed our mood and dining experience. Unfortunately this happens every time. They lock the ordering system after a time limit. And last time they prevented us from ordering; we had to wait at least 15 minutes per order. Because of this, it makes me suspicious that forgetting multiple orders is also a tactic to give us less food. read more

However, the service was confused. Out orders were late and some were forgten. Eventually oir orders arrived but by then I was full with eating my vegetable kim chi soup. Even though we had some confusion, the food was still good. Its understandable when the place is full of hungry eaters. The staff was very apologetic. And we got free ice cream oit of it.
