Got to spend time with Miki. It was a rainy day so we had nice late lunch. Osakaya Resturant - Japantown Green Tea Hot Sake Starter Mushroom Stuffy Yakitori Lunch Katsu Curry Undon Osakaya Ramen The was so busy and still was able to service us so fast and provide such great recommendations. The decor was simple and so comfortable. Another must try place.

Lunch special- a must try!

This place gets really busy. You will have to write your name down on this white board they have. We waited for about 10 minutes during their lunch rush hour on a weekend. Service can get a bit slow as they are busy. The food is delicious! I always love their sets with ramen and their rice bowl. You cannot go wrong with that. Whenever I'm in the area, this is a place to go as the food is always consistent.

Simple restaurant with an extensive menu for when your group can't decide on sushi, ramen, or udon. I ordered a special that came with soba noodles, sashimi, California rolls, and salad. The sashimi was fresh and rich, but the soba noodles were incredibly bland. My friends ordered a beef udon that had an incredibly flavorful broth - order that instead! Logistics: - indoor seating only - parking in the paid garage below the mall

This was my first time coming to the particular restaurant and since I have food, allergies and I'm Hapa it's always problematic. Lol sadly, I'm allergic to monosodium glutamate/MSG. My one safety net is I can get sushi without any sauces! I also cannot use soy sauce since one of the ingredients is MSG. Lol I was able to get B 11; a seared salmon roll with row and a spicy aïoli sauce and avocado on top! I didn't bring my tamari with me, so I made sure to ask for some extra ginger so I could have a little spice with each bite! As we sat, in a booth, I admired the cute set up with the high shelf unit of the booth itself. My friend got the Bento box with miso soup, a California roll, rice, and some shredded beef of some sort. I forgot to take a picture of his dish. Lol. Everything smelled delicious and our food came rather quickly. For a Tuesday night they used to close at 8 PM but I guess they changed their hours to 8:30 PM. Which worked out really well since we got there at 7:45 PM. Lol I will definitely come back again!!

As many times as I've been to Japantown, first time to Osakaya. During our visit, it was busy. Quite a big menu, including lunch specials. We enjoyed the items we ordered and the portions were pretty decently sized - Hiyashi, fried oysters, Spider roll, ramen lunch combo.

Spicy Ramen (Medium with Sausages and Pork)

Pleasant surprise from this restaurant as personally I tend to shy away from the restaurants in this particular area of Japan town just because of the long waits and hectic atmosphere. However, the interior was quite cute. In terms of service, my party definitely had to try and make eye contact and call out to servers to order and get some water/additions to our orders. The food helped to make up for the service in my opinion. My friend loves their yakiniku bowl with a side of spicy mayo, and I get the hype. I tried some of my friend's spicy ramen, and it was flavorful from the sausage sitting in the broth (planning on trying next time for sure). I personally got the chirashi bowl, and it was okay haha. I am not a fan of tamago, and some of the fish pieces were fresh and some weren't. I personally wouldn't get raw fish at a spot like this, but from my friend's meals I know I just chose the wrong thing.

the food was good! i got the nabeyaki udon and it was super flavorful. there were a lot of toppings and very filling! the service was a bit slow and it was hard to get ahold of a staff member though :(

When we walked in we were greeted right away and got a table quickly, it wasn't busy for a Thursday afternoon. Service was mid, it wasn't great but it wasn't bad. They checked on us which was good, food came out quickly. The place was nice and had little small tables and small booths. The edamame was mid, the salt seemed to be sprinkled on and not cooked with it ? the sushi was small compared to other sushi places, the ramen my fiance got was not too bad. They charged us 18% tip automatically, we were only 2 people so we were confused. We didn't tip more because the service wasn't that amazing.. I would not come back, we would love to tip what they deserve not what they think they deserve.

Lunch Special - Yakiniku & Unagi Don

I had the best experience here!! I came here with a group of 8 on a Saturday afternoon. We saw the okay reviews on Yelp and decided to take the risk since there was so much variety - everyone could order what they wanted and the seating was fast! I ordered the lunch special with Yakiniku and Unagi Don. The Yakiniku was so good and they were generous with the Yakiniku portion despite the good price! There wasn't too much unagi in the unagi don, but I wasn't expecting a lot considering it was only $15.95! The flavors of both the unagi don and yakiniku were good and they were quick with our orders. Highly recommend!!!

veggie soup ramen with beef

we really like this Ramen place because it was very fast to get our food and also the portion size was really good because it was really big and filled us up and it was a really good deal for the price. The reason why I gave it five out of five stars is because the beef that was inside of the Ramen had NO FAT on it and that's really important for me because sometimes there's too much fat on the beef and this beef had literally zero fat so this is the best thing about it.

Chirashi
Crystal L.

The service was great, part of the reason why I gave I give it a 2.5 rather than a 2. The udon soup was great, really flavorful. However, the fish cakes and carrots in the udon soup were not fully warmed it or softened, it seem like they just threw it in from the fridge and hoped the soup would make it soften up, but it wasn't hot enough. The chirashi bowl was pretty average, but more expensive at $21, probably would be more satisfied if it was $15-17 or so.

My niece and I stopped in while visiting Japan town. It's a small restaurant there in the middle of Japan town. It was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. I got the Bento box with the tonkatsu and California rolls. My niece got the same. we enjoyed our meal. It came with Miso soup rice and salad. but it was a nice we enjoyed our selves. It was good, but not best.

The first couple of times was great and then it started to fall off later on. Including the texture and flavor not hitting as hard and the fact that it's closed on weekends now. Impossible for non wagies to go there, meaning I can't have any when I'm there on weekend vacation I guess, but with how everything closes early and is dying in Bay Area, I'm somehow not surprised. Very tiny spot and not much seating, so you're either taking it to go or you're praying there's a chair and a counter that's free. No big deal since I've been to other Japanese curry places like this. I've had a mix bag where the katsu was deliciously crispy and moist on the inside and days where the meat inside is dry, even drenched in curry. Hot curry sauce is Japanese hot, so it has spices in it but not spicy at all. The workers do their best for the lunch rush, so that's a plus at least. Overall, it was okay, but man the times sure have changed.

Parked easily on the side street, walked in around 3:30 in the afternoon, no hassle. The place has an authentic Japanese cafe feel, the kind where the menu has things you don't typically find at your average sushi spot. I had my eye on the sandos, specifically the Chicken Katsu Sando, but landed on the Spicy Tuna Don instead. Good call. Spicy yellowfin tuna tartare over well-seasoned sushi rice, topped with sesame, furikake, green onions, with a little radish and cucumber on the side. The tuna was very fresh, the rice was on point. Service was quick and polite - they even have an outside window for takeout. One nice detail: a neat dollop of wasabi is pasted along the inside wall of the bowl, which is a clean way of letting you control exactly how much heat you want to mix in. Tasteful presentation, but don't let that fool you. It has a legitimate kick, so calibrate accordingly. Paired it with their Honjozo dry sake cup, which was a nice complement to the meal and exactly the right call for a mid-afternoon bite. The sandos looked great on other tables and I fully intend to go back for the Chicken Katsu Sando - and then go try the wine bar next door to it. which was pretty tempting.

The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with a nice light seasoning that didn't overpower the dish. The curry sauce was rich, slightly sweet, and had just enough depth to keep you going back for another bite. Portion size was great for the price, and everything came out hot and fresh. The vibe felt cozy and laid-back--nothing fancy, but definitely the kind of place you'd come back to when you're craving something reliable and filling.
