This is one of my fave cheeseburgers in the East Bay. It's tasty, juicy, and filling! It's cooked medium and be sure to ask for jalapeños because it will surely add a great spice. The fries are good too but go ahead and buy the three dipping sauces. My favorite item in the menu is the cookies and cream milkshake!! My only complaint is the price. I ordered a burger, fries, sauces, and a shake and it cost me $20. Seems pricey for only one person to eat. Not. A. Fan. The cashier asked me if I was sure that I wanted the Super Burger because it was "too large" for me and that I should probably get the Mini Burger instead. Still unsure if he was judging me for my stature or not. Since it was my first time there, I figured he would know the quantity of food better and went along with his recommendation. When the burger came, I was really, REALLY disappointed. The burger was unappealing, unappetizing, had the thinnest slice of meat I've ever seen and really lived up to its name of "mini" - there was barely anything there, just two dry buns! Not much unique flavor, just really greasy and messy, and I REALLY regretted not getting the Super Burger because I was still so hungry afterward. The milkshake and the pickles you can get at the condiments station were good at least, so I just relied on those to fill myself up - but I still ended up going home and making instant noodles because that actually left me more satisfied than the burger here. Smart Alec's will always have a special place in my heart, but Super Duper moving in also brings joy to my stomach. Super Duper has been on my rotating list of places to get my burger fix in the Bay Area so it's easy to see why they made the move to Berkeley as well. On the corner of Durant and Telegraph it's the perfect location for both students and visitors. What this also means is tough parking (unless you're willing to pay in the garage). I really like what they did to the old Smart Alec's place by making a second floor so they can maximize the space they have. The location is clean and has a mix of tables, bar stools, and so forth. My go-to is the mini super which is their regular burger with garlic fries. The Super Burger if you're considering it is basically a double cheeseburger and is waaay too much to eat on my own. I also tried the chicken sandwich and it was a nice alternative to the burger. It's not your typical fried chicken sandwich but more so grilled on the stovetop. It's less oily & you still have the option to add cheese & bacon for an additional cost like you would with the burgers. PROS: + Burgers are cooked medium + Extras like grilled onions, japalenos are free of charge + Free self-serve pickles + Shakes are delicious! Got breakfast at this joint this morning. For 4 people it costed about $22. Price was ok but the quantity of food was minimal. If you are super hungry then the quantity here is not going to be suffice unless you buy 2 sandwiches . Taste was good. Got egg and bacon sandwich with hash brown. So excited that there is a Super Duper Burgers so close to campus! Ever since I saw choco-dipped homemade soft serves on the menu when I checked the place out during their grand opening, I was dying to try it and I finally did. The kids-sized soft serve turned out to be a pretty big portion. One bite in and I melted. The chocolate shell had a good crunch and the ice cream itself was sooo creamy and delicious. I also got to try the garlic fries. The fries tasted very fresh and were fried nicely, but I thought that it was a bit too cheesy for my liking. The interior is very nice too: large spacing (there are two floors), and a clean and lively ambiance. A plus is that the food is fairly priced! I'm a Super Duper advocate. I always tell my friends that if there's any fast food that goes on my personal 10/10 list, it's Super Duper. I was sad when Smart Alec's was closing up and then an empty building occupied the corner of Durant and Telegraph for quite a bit. But you bet your ass I was excited as hell for Super Duper once they started construction. Now I'm just dreading my wallet's safety. Super Duper is a bit pricier than other burger joints, but it's definitely worth it. I don't know how they're able to make such a perfect burger that makes me not care I'm spending a good a $20 on a burger, fries, and a shake. If it's not delicious as hell, give it another try. It's been a while since this space has been occupied so naturally I was curious to see who the new tenants were. I'd never heard of Super Duper before I happened across them during their grand opening but some quick research showed a few locations in SF, so I was quite hopeful. The decor is nice: simple and clean with central cafeteria style seating and a dozen or so tables lining the walls. I ended up going with the super burger with an egg and some garlic fries. The fries were pretty good, a bit on the greasy side but I did get the garlic fries so I won't hold it against them. They come with a bit of shredded cheddar on top as well. Not particularly crunchy or soggy, it's hard to think of anything that defines the fries here, they're just decent. I enjoyed the burger, but I could understand if it wasn't everyone's cup of tea. A prominent part of the advertising is that they use grass fed beef ground daily, and I could tell. The patty is similar to if you hand made a patty yourself at home, kind of flaky and light and not as dense as most others' patties. The quality of the meat is the main flavor of the burger which has a pretty traditional seasoning. If you're expecting a lot of bold flavors you might say it's under seasoned. There is some spread on the buns but I didn't really taste it much, it could probably use a touch more. This place is worth a try, even if it's a bit on the expensive side for a burger. The egg add-on was $1.50 by itself. They make sure advertise that it's an organic egg though... maybe that justifies the price for some. I'd probably skip out on it next time. So happy super duper burgers opened in Berkeley! I love the burgers because they're so juicy and the fries are always warm and fresh! The atmosphere is casual and friendly. Sometimes I bring my laptop and some work to do while enjoying my meal. Today, I tried the sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich for the first time, and I was really impressed. Super Duper Burgers is close to campus on Telegraph, on the same block as Creme. I must have come at a good time because when I walked in there was no line, and when I left the line was out the door. There's only metered street parking or the garage available, but if you get there after 6 the meters are free I ordered the super duper burger with garlic fries. They say the burger is juicy and they're not kidding. It was perfect and flavorful with that sauce...I'd eat two if I could. The garlic fries were loaded with minced garlic so I'd recommend it if you love garlic. Price was kinda up there. This was actually my second time going to Super Duper Burger. I was really excited when I heard that they were openings a burger place in Berkeley because the only other one nearby is Bongo Burger, but I'm not that much of a fan. This place replaced Smart Alec's, which was also a burger joint. Anyways, the first time I went, I got the mini burger combo $10.50 (Mini-burger (1 patty), fries, and a drink, but this time I wanted to get what they were known for: Super Burger. The Super Burger is the same as the mini-burger but with an extra patty. I don't know if they had a combo for this (I didn't see one), but it came out to $15.02 with fries ($2.75) and a drink $2.50). If you add cheese, which I did, it is 0.75 for the Super Burger and 0.50 extra for the mini-burger. The super burger was really good. It was cooked perfectly: medium, and it was really juicy. I thought everything complimented each other very well. The portion was filling, the sauce was ample, and the lettuce, tomato, and onions were great as well. Usually for burgers, the tomato has so much juice that it drips everywhere or the onions are cut thickly and I end up with onion breathe (omg.) but that was not the case. Also, in comparison to another joint such as In and Out (i love in and out), the meat can be sometimes really oily, but at the end, there wasn't a lot sauce in the wrapping dripping everywhere. I would definitely come back. The location is great for students! The only thing is that the price is a little high for my budget, but if I was ever craving for a burger, I'm coming here! I am so excited to see a Super Duper finally open up in Berkeley! I've been waiting for years to see it expand across into the East Bay, and now I don't have to travel into SF each time I get that burger crave! Super Duper Burgers opened up on a busy street corner where Smart Alec's used to be. The interior has been completely revamped and there is even upstairs seating. Being on the Telegraph Avenue so close to campus means parking can be a nightmare during regular school hours. However, this restaurant is a perfect fit for its student-centric location: it advertises local and organic ingredients in all its menu items, and makes fast and consistent burgers each and every time (ideal for the fast-paced Berkeley student lifestyle). In time, I think Super Duper will become a big hit with the student population and the place will be swarming with customers at all hours of the day. Today, I ordered a mini burger with egg and french fries. Though the egg on my burger was a delicious addition, the runny yolk made my burger very messy to eat. Everything was cooked and arranged to perfection; they even used their secret sauce to draw a smiley face on the top bun. :) One thing to note is that the patty is fast-food sized, so if you're a big eater, then consider getting the Super Burger which has two patties. Price-wise, it can be considered a bit expensive compared to ordinary fast food restaurants, but you will feel like you are biting into a gourmet burger. You must either be super delusional about your culinary skills or you must be telling the truth with a name such as Super Duper Burgers. I was excited to try this place because I had heard some good things about it. I ordered the Super Duper Burger with everything and jalapeño and grilled onions. As I bite into the burger, I already notice that the bottom bun is completely wet and mushy. I tenderly grip the burger, but the bottom bun just melted away. The secret sauce was so furtive that I could barely get a hint of it in any bite. They do smash their patties which makes it nice and crispy but for $9, I'd like to have a better quality burger. Not much of a line, and there was ample seating - they have lots of individual and communal tables on the ground floor and even have upstairs seating that I suspect they'll need after Cal starts its regular academic sessions. The layout of ordering and picking up your food is definitely confusing, and fixing it is my main recommendation to management. It's unclear where the line for cash registers starts and also where the pick-up area is. An employee ended up having to point me over to the correct area for pick-up. Please install signage! As for the food, simply put, it's good quality and a good price. Most, if not all, of their menu items are under $10, and despite the cheap price, you don't feel like crap after eating the food! I got a mini burger for $5.75, which was super tasty and a great way to satiate a little hunger. It was a bit dry, but I think that would be solved by ordering the slice of cheese. My friends got fries, custom Super Burgers, and milkshakes. The fries, though a bit small in serving size, were great - not too soggy or overdone, and perfectly seasoned.
