We ate at the Sunshine Cafe several years ago and it was not a great experience. I'm happy to say that today was the total opposite. The restaurant has changed hands twice since we were last there and now the food and atmosphere are both top notch. I had a cheddar and chive omelet and it was flavorful and cooked perfectly. One of our party had a scramble with mushrooms, bacon and spinach which she raved about. Both dishes were accompanied by roasted potatoes. The other had a waffle and bacon. She was happy with both. Service was excellent and food was delivered quickly. When we finished the owner Jackie came out to chat with us and ask how everything was. She is a real pleasure and a great cook! All of the servers looked happy to be there as well. There is a full bar but since we were there for breakfast we didn't get to experience that. We are so glad to have found this place and will definitely be back. read more

Totally bummed...I had high hopes for this place after reading the newer reviews. The place is clean and cute. The waitress was nice. The food was horrible. The cinnamon roll was nothing like described on the menu. Drenched in maple syrup because it was dry. Pecans were not candied...just had powdered sugar on them. There was a fistful of salad served with the cinnamon roll...on no day have I eaten a salad with my cinnamon roll. Waste of food. The fistful of dry greens comes with every dish...such a waste of food. Husband had an omelette...I think it was made with just egg whites super greasy. My scrambled eggs were the same...couldn't eat them. The potato balls were hard and they need some flavor. $50 bucks with the tip...we were very disappointed. Sunshine Cafe is a for sure a town favorite! The cafe is small and you may have to wait to get a table but the staff is always so friendly and even offers you coffee while you wait! It is absolutely worth the wait, too! The holy-clucker is so good, and the way their do their hashbrowns is unique and delicious! My vegan friend and I were visiting Sequim. The sunshine cafe looked like a cute locally owned place to stop and grab a bite. The food was great! They did not have many vegan options, but the chef personally came out chatted with us and prepared a special salad. dressing just for us and the fries were the best we'd ever had! What a find. Food was excellent and the prices fair. The new owners are focusing on making things from scratch and creating a home like environment. There are family paintings on the wall that are lovely and the redesign changes reflect some lovely updates. Best breakfast potatoes I've had in years - eggs and bacon were also perfect and coffee delicious. Scratch made cinnamon rolls are next on my list to try. The menu will occasionally have a couple new/seasonal offerings but it certainly has some wonderful set choices. Our server was very nice; excited about the restaurant and the new changes. I thought I would give this place a second chance after having a mediocre breakfast here a while back. Today I tried the "verde chilaquiles." Grease and salt seemed to be the main ingredients. The pulled pork was good and the egg was cooked nicely, but the overall dish was a disappointment. This meal started off with noticing an odd taste in my coffee and finding that the cup was dirty. When I politely pointed out the problem and asked for a fresh cup, the waiter committed the cardinal sin of telling me "oh it's NOT dirty; that's just wear and tear," as she brusquely replaced my cup with a clean one. I was a waiter for many years. I know a coffee stain doesn't mean that that the cup hasn't been washed. If the residue is affecting the flavor of the coffee, for heavens sake don't argue with the customer about it! It is a reasonable expectation that when one is paying for a meal, the meal would be presented on clean dishes. As for service, I have fairy low expectations these days, but I certainly don't expect excuses and a self righteous attitude from the staff. I won't be back. read more

My husband and I went in for lunch last week and we were able to get a good table. We had a bit of a basic lunch, but it was good. We were happy they had garden burgers on the menu!! Their sweet potato fries are great, some of the best we've had, better than their regular French fries IMO. The girls that work there work very hard and are friendly and attentive. Multiple employees checked in on us several times. We also were a bit taken back by the lack of mask wearing by the staff, especially since most other restaurants in the area are so strict about it. When we make it back into town, we will visit the cafe again. read more

I was super excited to have breakfast here as I had seen an online menu with corned beef hash along with several other delicious sounding dishes. I was very disappointed to find out they no longer had the same menu due to new ownership but they still have a unique menu none the less. The food here is as pretty as can be but very deceiving. I had pulled pork verde tacos with a side of pancakes and my husband had the sirloin sizzle with a side of French toast. He said his sirloin was alright. The french toast was not as you would expect and left a lot to be desired. My tacos were so-so, and the pancakes were awful. I don't know how they make them, but they were virtually inedible as far as taste. Probably the worst I've ever had. I don't know how you can make bad pancakes! The hash brown balls were delicious, but the ketchup I asked for tasted rancid. We will not be returning. read more

After we ordered and one later our order still hadn't been started so we cancelled it and left. Mind you, we were only a party of two and this cafe is tiny. Went here today for the first time and the atmosphere is very inviting. Loved the little prayer on the front cover of the menu, the bright and cheery yellow walls, and the sweet waitress. I believe it was "Allen"(so?) the owner that came out of the kitchen and engaged with only one guest(he must have already known) but being very new in this community and our first ever experience at the Sunshine Cafe, I was disappointed that he didn't make the rounds to greet the other guests. When placing our order I asked the waitress if the chicken fried steak was hand breaded and made in house, to which our non English spoken as her primary language waitress replied "Yes" so I ordered off of thinking I was about to get some home cooking comfort food, sadly this is where the 3 stars comes in... it was obviously a frozen/breaded steak thrown in the deep fryer and topped with canned gravy.... huge sigh!!! My wife and I were looking forward to eating here again, the hollandaise for the Eggs Benedict was made in house and excellent. Unfortunately, they seemed to have changed the menu and we were very disappointed. The old standby Eggs Benedict was gone, now with smoked salmon etc. The service was dismal, we didn't see our waitress from the time she took our order until she brought our food. A refill on our coffees would have been nice. Then we didn't see her again until she brought the bill. My steak and eggs was served on a cold plate, so my food was only tepid, the steak was tough and the hollandaise tasted like it was from a mix and with chipotle added. Neither my wife or I felt the meal was worth the money, though it was pretty. Never to return. Also, when looking at the menu's ignore the white one, it's long gone, which is a shame. read more
