I took my mother for breakfast at Sunshine breakfast bar last Thursday. The food was fabulous!! The place is spacious and nicely decorated , open and airy I especially love the light features on the ceiling. Our server Cindy was so accommodating and kind and explaining that all the items there were fresh and made from scratch. Did not disappoint. Julie( manager) came over to check on our table . I had mistakenly ordered the wrong entree for my mother . She had her heart set on pancakes. Cindy and Julie cheerfully made everything good for Mother.(I might add free of charge) Mother raved about the pancakes, she was sold! Came on a Tuesday at noon. It was quite busy, but we were seated immediately. Our server was absolutely amazing! She was very attentive and gave great suggestions on what to order. We went with the Florentine Benedict, Denver Omelette, and the Golden Waffle. Food came out looking amazing, but tasted even better! My Benedict was on point! Our favorite item was the Golden Waffle. We went on a holiday and this place was BUSY! As a first timer, I had high hopes after seeing the crowds. I was happily pleased with the food and quick service, despite the busyness. The service is really good here and those working there genuinely seem to enjoy being there. That said, they are packed from 10-noon on weekends. Don't try to come here with groups of more than 4-5, as it is a small restaurant. The food is very good and worth the wait, but do yourself a favor and get on the wait list before you get your crew over there. So I have to give this place 4stars because they take such good care of my parents every time we go. I have never really been that impressed with the breakfast. The chiller Achilles are completely lackluster. No real flavor or anything there. Don't order it. I would get the Greek omelette sometimes, but the omelettes come out a little brown... Not too big of a fan. I will say that there are chicken sandwich on the menu is awesome! My mom is absolutely crazy about their Greek avocado toast . It is a super cute neighborhood spot. The food was great. I recommend using the app to book reservation so you can park which is packed, and arrive and just be next in line. Once seated the service is great. I have been there twice so far. The first time we got on the list after parking and had to wait 30 minutes in the car. The second time we joined the list while we were still at home. Sunshine Breakfast Bar was a ray of sunshine after a super early morning excursion nearby. My friend and I worked up an appetite and headed over to Sunshine to fuel up for the day. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. We requested outdoor seating, and they happily accommodated. The ambiance was casual and relaxed. Our server was pleasant and helpful. She made great recommendations. My friend and I like to share, so we decided to split the breakfast burrito, lemon ricotta pancake, and avocado toast with two eggs. I also ordered an oat milk latte with honey and cinnamon. The spread was more than enough for us to share. In fact, we had leftovers. Everything was fresh and delicious. The burrito was probably my favorite. It was stuffed with two eggs, onions, potatoes, green peppers, cheese, and choice of sausage, bacon, ham, or chorizo wrapped in crispy flour tortillas. Stopped here for breakfast right after our flight had arrived in PHX on a Friday morning. We felt very welcomed coming in and got seated and seen right away. I went with the Avocado Toast and my husband and I shared a short stack of their famous Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. Unfortunately, I was a bit underwhelmed by both of these dishes. The Avocado Toast had more greens than avocado and the drizzle on the pancakes was too sweet for me. However, the pancake itself without the dressing was perfect! Maybe I shoukdve gone with a different main dish than the avocado toast but you live and you learn! It wasn't terrible, but it's definitely not the star of the menu. Would still come back though! My wife and I visit Phoenix several times a year, for two reasons: to visit our great friends and to have breakfast at Sunshine Breakfast Bar. On our first visit to SBB, I fell in love with their pancakes, which are not as much unusual for their variety as they are distinctive for their taste. I am pretty sure it's because they use sweet cream in the batter, which gives the pancakes a subtle sweetness and great texture. On that first visit, my wife ordered an omelette, which came with home style potatoes. The omelette looked very good, but the potatoes looked amazing! I had to try them. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Perfect! By the way, our server was wonderful! So friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our visit so much that we came back the next day. I ordered an omelette so I could get those amazing potatoes. They were cooked perfectly again. Recently, I decided to go on a gluten-free diet. So, I was disappointed that I would not be able to have those sweet cream pancakes. We went to SBB anyway, for the potatoes. While there, I noticed they had gluten-free pancakes. Could they possibly be nearly as special as the regular ones? I had to find out. But, I also needed my favorite home style potatoes. What to do.... Only one solution - to order an omelette, which comes with potatoes, and a side order of gluten-free pancakes. The pancakes were great - for being gluten free. Not quite as good as their regular pancakes, but among the best gluten-free pancakes I have ever had. And, the potatoes were awesome, as usual (great Denver omelette, also). In my defense, I did not finish the omelette, pancakes and potatoes. Their portions are big, and I have plenty of leftovers for breakfast this morning. All the staff at Sunshine Breakfast Bar have been very friendly. Our server, Eric, was no exception. He was new, and was a little slow on the hand-held ordering device. But he certainly made up for it with his personality and attentiveness. Great friends and a great place for breakfast - that's why my wife and I visit Phoenix so often. What a joke!!! Nice place and good service BUT...I ordered a triple decker club sandwich. I asked for all turkey instead of turkey and ham and also no cheese. I got the 3 pieces of bread, with only a lettuce leaf and skimpy piece of tomato where the ham would have been and more turkey should have been. Not only that, there was so little of anything on the sandwich that it wasn't worth half of the $18 charge...I'm one and done with this place!!!!
