Came in a group of 3 on a Thursday evening. Not too busy and they even had live music - how fun! We sat out on the outdoor patio, which I recommend. It's perfect in the evening when the sun has set and it's no longer scorching. I cannot remember the name of my cocktail but it was delicious! I believe it had bourbon in it, but was fruity so you could not tell. Last time I got the blackened chicken and shrimp alfredo and enjoyed it so much that I got it again. Once again, it did not disappoint and I had leftovers to enjoy the next day. For a cocktail, side salad, and pasta dish, I paid a little over $50. I really appreciate the staff, as they went out of their way to make sure we were attended to. Definitely a great spot for dinner in Sunset Beach! read more

Wow. What a cluster. From the reception desk saying we could go out and order a drink before our reservation, then being told we could grab any table, then told we were not allowed to sit at tables even though bar was full. Go back in, order a drink, our table was ready. We ordered. An hour later the table of six who came in after we did was finished with dinner. No sign of ours We finally asked for the check for the drinks and apps and left. The whole thing from the hostess stand to the serve staff seemed very disorganized. read more

Sat at the bar on a Saturday night. Was so surprised at how dead it was. Last time we were here was about ten months ago when they first opened - and you couldn't find a seat! Regardless, the decor is modern, welcoming and I love the views! The service at the bar was great - one of the best dirty martinis I've had around town. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was amazing! The portion size was plentiful and the flavor was so so good. I would definitely order it again. My friend ordered the she-crab soup and it was also good - lots of crab meat! Menu looked a little pricey as far as steaks etc go - but we will definitely be back. First off the waiter must have been first day on the job. He didn't know anything about the bar or their food products. When the food came, the chicken sandwich, which was supposed to have lettuce, tomato, and pickles had only a thin slice of tomato. It came dry. No condiment. I have eaten dinner at Prime before, the best steak I have had in years! I've had lunch there several times and recently they have a buffet for lunch. The buffet is different every day. The day that I went it was Mexican food all was very good and very affordable. Last night went for drinks and snacks at the bar. Ordered the chicken wings and they were cooked too perfection. We were greeted immediately upon entering the establishment during lunch service. The decor is very modern and comfortable. The bar area was very nice. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. The menu looked very tasty and appealing. It was really hard to choose what to eat. I decided on the shrimp flatbread. It was presented well and loaded with shrimp and toppings. The drizzled sauce was perfect. My friends ordered the grouper appetizer. The lightly crusted grouper was delicious and melted in my mouth. I tried my friend's steak and cheese and oh my goodness, I would highly recommend it. Our waitress was very helpful in selecting our cocktail drinks. I chose the hibiscus lemon drop. Yum! Met friends at Sunset Prime for lunch. The decor is simple yet modern, with lots of light from the windows and ambient lighting, despite the cloudy day. We had a very attentive server (Lisa) who deserved 5 stars. The salads we ordered were excellent, generous in size, and fairly priced. They also get 5 stars. However, the acoustics here are not good. With the high ceiling and boisterous groups of golfers enjoying themselves after their games, it was hard to carry on a conversation easily. So that's why the 3 stars. On a side (but related) note, the marketing for Sunset Prime is geared towards golfers. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but it's given off an exclusive vibe since opening. All restaurant info and promotion comes from the Golf Resort and not each restaurant individually. But the Sea Trail Resort restaurants - Sunset Prime, Bistro 55, and Sunset Slice - are open to the public and the community is welcome to enjoy them. read more

I wish zero stars was an option. Should have known right when we walked in this was not going to be a great experience. Was not greeted by either hostess and waited a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Once we were finally greeted we were told there was a 30 min wait (which is fine). We sat at the bar instead. We were not greeted at the bar even though there were 5 people behind the bar. We waited another 10 minutes to be served. Meanwhile a group was sat for dinner inside (we weren't offered that option). They were served before we were. Ordered one drink each and decided against dinner because of how unorganized everything seemed. Didn't seem like service knew what was going on. Overall horrible service. St Patrick's Day Immediate complete disaster. Understandably a very busy day. Waited 30 minutes for seating, not bad. Greeting was pleasant, server also very nice. It was quite noisy but was acceptable considering the Day. During our wait it became obvious that the establishment was understaffed. Not enough bartenders, servers. Except for a few looked inexperienced. Upon seating we were informed that the were out of the St Patrick's fare. No Ruben no CB& Cabbage. Bummer. Draft Beer selection horrible, how about a nice selection of Irish. Ordered off the menu, Special Shrimp Burger, off the steam table, wilted onion, soggy roll, inedible. Really try to give this place a chance and have been here several times. It reeks of inconsistency . Can't seem to get the basics right. Not the best hospitality. Oh, most of the selections on the menu are overpriced. We will wait a while before we return. The area has several good alternatives. read more

Went to Sunset Prime for Easter Brunch. We had a reservation for 11:30, but we were told to wait for them to check if our table was clean. Then once we were seated and our waitress came to the table, we were taken to the room where the buffet was. One problem, there were no clean plates for the buffet for us and after waiting at least 5 minutes for plates to arrive there were at least a dozen more people waiting to get food. It was sheer chaos with so many people getting food at the same time. The quality of the food was just okay, the quantity was pretty good. The sweet tea was bland. They add an 18% service tip to the bill of $45 a person. read more

We booked a table for a birthday celebration for 3 couples. Even though the name is Sunset Prime, they didn't have prime rib on a Friday night. So we reluctantly ordered the rib eye! They didn't have that either! Imagine a steak house that doesn't have a ribeye! Had brunch at Sunset Prime as part of a party of 10. While the facility is modern and clean, the service was poor and very slow, the latter indicative of staffing issues or improper scheduling. The food temperature for a few plates was cold or lukewarm. A request to alter a menu item was not granted until we were getting ready to leave (almost two hours later), when it was delivered in a to-go box (at least I was not charged for it.) The waiter nor the manager on duty never once came over to the table to ask how things were going or if anything was needed. One party member waited like what seemed like forever to have his standard BLT sandwich delivered, without the condiment that he had requested. It was our first time at Sunset Prime. The way you are greeted and treated when you go to a place for the first time is key, and this experience was the worst we've had in a long time. The bartender did not make eye contact, did not acknowledge us when we came in or when my husband went to get us drinks, etc. You know how people make it obvious you are bothering them? That's this guy. So don't go there unless you like that feeling. We won't be back unless I sneak a look and he isn't working, because the atmosphere and view are gorgeous. He truly ignored me standing alone at one end of the bar with no acknowledgment. A second female bartender came over and greeted me and got my drink. I went to Prime Rib dinner tonight with a couple of friends. This is the 3rd time for me. One of my friends had been before but the other hadn't. It was just as good tonight as it was the other 2 times. My friend who had never been before said afterwards they totally understood why I chose Sunset Prime for our dinner tonight. We received excellent and friendly service from our server, Olivia, from start to finish. Our food that started with bread and ended with dessert was amazing!!! The pastry chef, Sean, makes the best desserts. On each occasion I've dined there I can't decide which was better the prime rib or the dessert. I'm pretty sure it's a tie between the two. Jesse was playing his soft guitar music which added to the atmosphere. Samantha and Wendy, the hostesses, were warm and welcoming when we arrived. The food runners, Austin and Joey, did a great job getting our food to us at the perfect time. And we liked that Dan, the manager, stopped by our table several times to chat with us.
