My daughter had the skirt steak w chimichurri, broccoli and orzo and she ate the entire thing and said it was hands down one of the best dishes she's ever had. My son had the Pops Pasta which was equally as flavorful and the bread with it was so good. My wife had a salad w blackened chicken and she loved it. My younger son had the kids cheeseburger and loved it. Service was friendly and fast. The restaurant is located on a marina and has a neat vibe to it. Worth the price. We were in Alabama for our daughter's graduation and met up with family. Since they were staying in Fairhope, we decided to go to them. Our daughter told us of this restaurant saying they had come for their senior dinner. She highly recommended it, so off we went. Wish I had more pictures of the outside as it is on the water in a Marina. AND we were there at sunset. Distracted by meeting new family, I only had impressions of the front and inside. It was raining, so I only got a glimpse of the front. There is a ramp and stairs with a nice little Kale garden in the front. Inside is a nice open space, good for groups. They do not take reservations. However, we were seated immediately. We just had to wait for them to rearrange seating for 9. Once we sat down, I got a chance to look around. The theme is simple but nice. There's a big board in the front telling you what the days starch and veggie gor the day is and the Special. It also had a list of local beers and from what brewery. Behind reception, there is a little store with shirts and a beignet mix plus other little knickknacks. Staff is amazing. Everyone was so friendly, and our waiter Mason was very patient with our group. On to the food. I had the Gulf Snapper Throats or Kama where I'm from. It was huge and meaty. Only the batter was seasoned, leaving you to taste the sweetness from the fish. Except for a small piece I gave my husband, I ate the whole thing. The couscous and veg were okay. Husband had the Gulf Fish Wrap, which looked like a burrito and came with some slaw on the side. He said the wrap was amazing, and the slaw was OK. My friend had the Grilled Gulf Coast Shrimp. They give a lot of shrimp. She said the shrimp was good, meh on the sides. Next was my son and youngest daughter. They both got chicken - Kamikaze burger and lemon butter chicken. There is no feedback on taste, but no leftovers. My other daughter had Pops Pasta. Two of her favorite foods in the same dish. Also, there are no leftovers. Next was my niece. She had the Sunset Point buger, which is a double patty with pimento cheese, bacon, & caramelized red onion, on a brioche bun with chips. Our cousin had small bites of Tuna Poke & Kamikaze chicken bites. I didn't try the chicken, but it looked just like the sandwich, just smaller. I had to try the poke being from Hawaii. For my taste, it was super bland and tasted more like a ceviche. If I had nothing to compare it to, it would be just some really good diced tuna tossed with a little lemon. It could have used a little bit of salt or umami. Her husband had the Sesame seared tuna, which he tucked into right away, so no picture. It looked really good, though, and it was gone in minutes. He and my husband finished first and ordered dessert. Our table ended up ordering both of the desserts - Lime Curd, which I was told tasted like a deconstructed Key Lime Pie. It came in a Mason jar with a lot of whip cream. The bread pudding I did get to try, and I must say, it was divine. It was a simple bread pudding, but what put it over the top was that they pan fried it and caramelized the outside. It was light and crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. My cousin and I shared, but my husband started reaching over to help himself. He had already eaten one whole plate of his own as well. It was that good. Highly recommended going here. It was about an hour from our airbnb in storming rain. By the time we finished, the rain had stopped. We ended up closing down the restaurant. Catching up with family makes you lose time, but the staff were so gracious and never came to tell us to leave. They had, in fact, already closed by the time we were ready. This was my first visit to Sunset Pointe and I throughly enjoyed this restaurant. The staff and my waitress were very nice. My waitress was also very patient when it came to answering my questions about the menu and she gave very good recommendations. The place was empty when I first got there but by the time I left, it was packed. The restaurant is a decent size and it was well lit and very clean. You can also sit outside and see the awesome view of the marina and the boats. I ended up ordering the crab meatballs with the blackened gulf snapper throats. I also ordered a side salad and the house starch, which was orzo. The food was very delicious and fresh. The crab meatballs were full of crab and not alot of breading, which was a plus. Each crab meatball came with its own sauce and omg, I could drink those sauces! Lol! All in all this restaurant is very good! So glad that it was recommended to me! Menu needs to be changed & food offerings need to be sampled by owners/staff in order to improve. It had been a few years since we last visited Sunset Pointe (which btw, were very good past experiences) but were greatly disappointed in the menu offerings & food we received last Sunday evening. My son ordered the kamikaze chicken and barbecue grilled shrimp. Both were . I had the southern fried fish and chips. The small fish planks were very dry and the sweet potato chips were overcooked and have no flavor of sweet potatoes whatsoever. Also, the slaw had a cilantro flavoring that no one at our table who tasted it cared for. My son's food offering (kamikaze chicken and barbecue shrimp) had a high vinegar flavoring, especially the dipping sauce (aïoli). Our server was very nice, but appeared to be overstretched. Very doubtful that we will return to this establishment as it's not worth the drive. On the positive note....the seating outside was very accommodating and had an atmosphere that was welcoming to a family environment. read more

Both were delicious, but I preferred the grouper bites over the chicken. May have to order one for myself next time! MIL had the Gulf Fish Wraps, and the fish of the day was catfish. FIL had a salad. Husband ordered the Lemon Chicken Breast dish. BIL had the Kamikaze Chicken. I ordered the Seared Tuna "BLT" which was fantastic. The slaw on the side left a little to be desired for how thick the chunks were, but I loved the way it was dressed with a vinegar instead of a creamy base. Came for an early dinner on a Monday evening excited based on strong Yelp reviews. We had drinks and the grouper sandwich and their signature dish, snapper throat. The cocktails were very good - 4 stars. The sunset was incredible- 5+ stars. Sadly those were the highlights of our experience. The snapper throats were hugely disappointing- while the meat was tender, there was little there surrounded by skin and bone. Difficult to eat but unlike crab legs, unrewarding. 1 star. The grouper was fried with cornmeal breading and pretty good, but for $20 it was a thin portion and nothing remarkable. If we go back we'll stick with drinks and enjoy the view, and eat elsewhere. read more

(They were hard) I got a chicken dinner that tasted like a lemon!!! Sent it back got the fried shrimp and they had no tartar sauce!!! (WOW) If the point was to make the food look pretty.. it was very pretty!! The word starches was on the menu way to many times!!! The view is amazing!! For me it came with green beans and couscous. I also ordered a sweet tea. The only one they had was peach. The tea was good. The snapper came in 2 pieces which resemble chicken breasts. 1 of 2 had a lot of meat on it. The fish was at times a lot of work to get the meat off the bone. You will get messy. The fish was mild, sweet, and tasty. The green beans were good once I let them sit for a bit. I don't like al dente green beans. Couscous had a really good flavor! Having read the positive reviews, we believed our one hour drive from Orange Beach would be rewarded. Unfortunately, our dining experience belied our expectations. My wife and I shared the crab benedict (brunch menu). Not only were the eggs so overcooked that they had a hard boiled and not poached consistency, but the Hollandaise sauce could easily have been from a packet or a can (could not taste any citrus and it was overcooked and thick like yogurt - not a sauce at all). The crab cake was just fine, but a bit bland with little seasoning. It seems to me that someone in the kitchen needs a refresher course from culinary school. So very disappointing. I nicely brought the inadequate meal to our server's attention. She seemed to care little. You know, when a restaurant cannot manage to properly poach an egg (in this case two), why would you ever give it a second chance? And, believe me, there was nothing about the "ambience" to come close to making up for the poor food. read more
