This place is fantastic for a little break from the ride to Key West, try the oysters and the clam chowder soup

We stopped here on our way back from Key West. It had a great atmosphere! They have a giant tiki hut and a pool that customers can use while they hang out and enjoy some great food and specialty drinks from their bar. Service was friendly. We had fish and chips and a fish sandwich. Both were very good! They played great music including a bunch of Jimmy Buffet songs, which is always a bonus!

Fantastic. Cold beer and hogfish sandwich. That's all you need to know. Seriously great place. Food is great. The pool is just a bonus.

Five stars, and I want to explain this properly because High Tide in Key Largo is absolutely a…read moreplace people should experience at least once. This is one of those spots that immediately tells you it's a local favorite the second you walk in. It feels homey, lived in, and deeply rooted in the community. The average crowd definitely skews older, which honestly just shows how loyal the regulars are and how long this place has been doing something right. We stood for a minute or two when we arrived, which wasn't a problem at all, but the initial interaction felt a little abrupt. Nothing hostile, just very direct and urgent. We later found out that Cathy is the owner, and it became clear very quickly that this place is her whole world. She works hard, moves fast, and runs on urgency. That energy can sometimes come off sharp, especially to visitors who aren't used to that local, no frills style, but we gave her the benefit of the doubt. There were moments throughout our visit where the tone felt a little rough around the edges, and it wasn't just with us, we noticed it with other tables too. It didn't feel personal, more like someone who is stretched thin and running on fumes. To her credit, there were moments where she self corrected, and I genuinely believe this was just a long day rather than bad intentions. Running a place like this day in and day out is not easy, and you can feel how much effort goes into keeping it moving. This review isn't meant to tear anyone down, just to be honest for future guests so they know what to expect walking in. What truly changed our entire experience and pushed this from a four star visit to a solid five was our server. Her name started with a T, she wore glasses, and she was African American, and she was an absolute blessing. She treated us with warmth, patience, and genuine care, like we were family she was looking out for. When we sat down and the table needed to be wiped, she handled it gracefully without a single awkward moment. Everything she did felt intentional and kind. She was attentive without hovering, respectful, and genuinely happy to be doing her job. There was also a sweet older Latina woman clearing tables who was just as lovely and welcoming. It became very clear that despite the different personalities, this place functions as a team, and the heart of High Tide lives in the people who treat guests with care and humanity. If you get that server whose name starts with a T, you are in excellent hands. Now let's talk about the food, because this is where High Tide really shines. The hash brown casserole is a straight ten out of ten. No exaggeration. Comfort food perfection. Crispy, savory, and absolutely worth ordering. The country style platter we ordered was also a ten according to my friend, hearty and satisfying in the best way. The lobster benedict was good, I would give it about an eight. It's a fun, unique option if you want to try something different, but not the standout compared to the rest of the menu. And then there's the real star of the show, the Key lime pie. Even if you are not hungry, come for the pie. This is hands down the best Key lime pie I have ever had. Perfectly balanced, not overly tart, smooth and almost cheesecake like in texture. It's the kind of dessert that makes you pause after the first bite because it's that good. Beautifully presented too. The decor is charming and thoughtfully cluttered in a way that feels authentic, not staged. The bathrooms are old but very clean. Parking is a little quirky but manageable, and there is parking available if you're patient. Overall, the vibe is cozy, memorable, and unmistakably local. Would I come back? Absolutely, especially for the food and that pie. Cathy, you are clearly working your ass off, and I hope this was just a rough day. This review comes with honesty and flowers, not shade. Five stars for the food, the heart, and the people who make this place what it is. I do recommend it.

We started with potato skins, a special, they were huge, hot and delicious. We split the shrimp risotto with mushrooms in a Alfredo sauce, plenty for 2, the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the dish served hot! The only improvement I can suggest would be crisp up the garlic bread that was served on the side. Do not miss this spot in Key Largo

We ate inside (Floridians like us know better than to expose ourselves to the heat and No See Um's outside at dusk). We thoroughly enjoyed the inside ambiance. Well done. The spacious patio out back did also actually look nice. I wanted to give this 5 stars but my husband was not impressed by the taste (or lack thereof) of his bacon burger so I had to take away a star. I had a delicious Woodrow Chicken sandwich piled high with their signature onions and bbq sauce. When they brought it out, I wondered how I could possibly get the huge thing into my mouth. It was enormous (see photo) and tasty. I cut it in half and ate leftovers the next day. Service was good except our waitress did seem to struggle a bit. She either could not hear us or did not understand us (language issue?). At least she kept asking us until she understood. I do appreciate that. We were skeptical but our order came out right, yippee! We even splurged by getting dessert. Can't pass up chocolate cake when it appears on the menu (rarely). It was a beautiful presentation (see photo)! Next time you are in Key Largo, give these folks a try. You won't be disappointed.

We got 2 lbs of medium, which are originally $27 but since they had a valentines special, if you bought 2 pounds of medium, it would be 15% off. So we did 2 pounds of medium....and one pound of large claws. The stone crab is on a sweeter flavor profile. The stone crab mustard sauce......it's so delicious. It complimented the crab so so well. We were stuffed with 2 pounds but of course we had to finish our plate. We also bought a souvineer mallet, $3.99. In total we spent $100. Which is an amazing price. Usually in other restaurants, 2 jumbos are like $60. It is so worth it to buy it from this location. The service was great, she asked if we wanted to eat there or for take out. We said we were going to eat it there, and they cracked the crab for us and it was so easy to eat. The ambiance is great. Live music, beautiful weather, the water, the boats......such a great experience. I will be back very soon.

Key Largo Fisheries -- not to be confused with Keys Fisheries where we are staying in Marathon 50…read moremiles south , although they do source some seafood from them. At first glance, it's exactly what you expect in the Keys: a dockside seafood operation with an open-air café attached. Boats, traps, pelicans, tourists -- all of it. And during spring break, that café turns into complete chaos. Packed tables, long lines, people hovering, the raw bar shoulder-to-shoulder. You're not settling in -- you're cycling through. The food is solid. Stone crabs, conch chowder, fried oysters, tacos -- all competently done, with the chowder being the standout. And to be clear, the seafood market inside Key Largo Fisheries itself is legit. The cases are full, the product looks fresh, pricing is in line with what you'd expect in the Keys. The catch is: to get to it, you have to run the gauntlet. Parking lot chaos. Lines spilling out. People everywhere. It's all part of the same machine. Now here's where it shifts. If you keep walking -- past the main operation, past the traps -- you end up at a completely separate group of vendors around the corner. Different business, different setup, different energy. Same kind of product. Same general pricing. But none of the friction. Coolers on ice. Handwritten boards. No lines, no crowd, no pressure. You walk up, you look, you buy. That's it. That's where I grabbed two pounds of local pink peel-and-eat shrimp for $30 -- not because it was better than what was inside, but because it was easier, calmer, and frankly more enjoyable to deal with. And tucked into that same area is a small stand (Saturday only) run by an Andalusian chef -- quietly putting out some of the best fried seafood on the property. No line. No chaos. Just good execution. So it's not really about better vs worse. It's about two ways of experiencing the exact same place: One is high-volume, crowded, and a little overwhelming -- but still very real. The other is quieter, simpler, and easier to access -- even though it's sitting right next to it. Most people only see the first one. I'd take the second.

Service was prompt and friendly and we really enjoyed the whole thing. I got the mahi mahi maracumbe style, which was recommended by our server as a house specialty. It did not disappoint! It was light, flavorful, and quite surprisingly really one of the most delicious fish dishes I've ever had at a restaurant. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. My wife picked the fried cracked conch and fries while I selected the Jamaican jerk mango mahi sandwich with a side of coleslaw, and we both had waters. We all enjoyed the nautical novelty theme of the dining room, and felt badly for whomever had to change the bulbs in the hundreds of lights running across the ceiling. The video 'port holes' were also a fresh new twist. The tables were very close together, and it was difficult to go to the restroom without bumping into someone. Speaking of the restrooms, my wife and I both hated the coconut salt soap you had to spoon up to wash your hands. Our food was ready pretty quickly, and everyone agreed it was good to very good. My blackened mahi was -as advertised- lightly blackened without being overpowered, and tasted very good, and likewise with the coleslaw. My wife said her fried cracked conch was flavourful and good, but not as tender as she has enjoyed elsewhere. Service was a bit slow, and getting water refills took some time, as did getting our bills. Pros: décor, fresh seafood selection, good to very good flavours Cons: fresh seafood is always expensive (even in the Florida), slow-ish service, everyone touching the same soap spoon in the restroom squicked us all out Overall we found The Fish House to be Good, and would return.
