In my honest opinion I would recommend just eating somewhere else. The food was underwhelming to say the least. I most enjoyed the blueberry pancake and that was more so to the fact of the real fruit use. Eggs had no seasoning, cheese was weirdly melted so it wasn't fully mixing into scrambled eggs with cheese. The hash potatoes, I just absolutely avoided after the first 2 bites. I do wish I was able to give a kinder review but I'm the area, it is just too many other options.

Fast service, delicious food. Everything a diner should be. The server was very friendly as well. Great experience

Close place for breakfast. Seated quickly, friendly staff. The blueberry lemonade was delicious. Ordered a burger ( even though was only 10am) and husband got potatoes with eggs and onions. The burger was average but a good size and ended up too much food. The potatoes are awesome. Server was very friendly. Food was up super fast! Will definitely go there again

I just found a spot you're going to love. If you're in Toronto, you've got to try the Sunset Grill. Their peameal sandwich was highly recommended, and it totally lived up to the hype. The food came out in less than 4 minutes, the service was excellent, and the sandwich was incredible--soft bread with bacon, egg, and their signature sunset sauce. The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, too. I'm giving this place my full approval. You can thank me later!

I hate giving bad reviews but I was less than impressed with this place. As an American, the best comparison I can give to this place is a Denny's. It's a diner. I ordered the French toast and it was less appealing visually. Perhaps I'm too bougee, but this wasn't my greatest pick for something upscale. Nothing went wrong, I had great service in fact, but the presentation of the meal was not great. There was an excessive amount of potatoes, the French toast wasn't anything special, very thick cut ham. It's not my first choice to go here again, but it's not awful either, just not anything special. There are better options for breakfasts in Toronto.

This place was amazing. You should definitely check this place out when you're in Toronto. It's an all day breakfast they have many options and the food was amazing. I had the western omelette that comes with toast and home fries. server was really nice and welcoming. the place is busy but it moves fast. Definitely want to go back again.

While the service was decent, the food was not. The potatoes lacked flavor and the egg sandwich was not that far off. I took two bites of the sandwich and decided to just eat the bread instead (I will say that the toast on the bread was the only thing they got right.)

A typical diner experience. Got all the breakfast menu items you'd expect from a diner. Nothing elevated or out of this world. Just nice middle of the road diner food. Sometimes that's all one wants. Was lucky not to have to wait for a table, but it does get pretty busy during brunch time on the weekend, so be prepared for that. Nothing specific to point out about the menu, it's what you expect.

I had routine bloodwork to do this morning downtown. I had to fast for it and was STARVING afterwards so I had breakfast afterwards at Sunset Grill. I ordered bacon and eggs. Yum! Bianca was my server and she was great! Friendly and chatty!

Toast, 3 eggs over easy, and potatoes. Across the table was French toast.

Fast service and great service. We went for breakfast my mom had French toast she really liked it. I had the eggs, hash brown potatoes and toast with coffee. Eggs were exactly as I ordered, toast was stall, not fresh, that was the first time in my life I've ever requested a new order of toast. The flavour was off, toast was tough, butter didn't even melt.

Breakfast place good, quick and affordable

Sunset Grill offers all-day breakfast. They were founded in 1985 in the Beach, Toronto. They claim to be the first in Canada to serve all-day breakfast and have stayed the same operationally all these years. They claim to have many loyal customers. I went on a Tue at 11:40am and they were full. The wait wasn't long but all their tables were occupied. I've never been to a Sunset Grill before so I didn't know what to expect. I had their Sunset Pancakes ($7.25) on National Pancake Day. Every year on that day, their pancakes are $1 each and proceeds go to Canadian Cancer Society. What i didn't realize was that the Sunset Pancakes usually come with a stack of 3 pancakes. Granted, you can choose how many pancakes you wanted on a plate, so you can choose 1 or more. What surprised me is that everything else (toppings) are charged separately (e.g. $2.99 for fresh strawberries or $2.49 for real maple syrup). Or you can get 3 toppings for $4.99 so I got 3: fresh strawberries, real maple syrup, and chocolate chips. The chocolate chips are withing the batter. The real maple syrup came in a cute bottle (enough for 4-5 pancakes). They do bring you their imitation syrup (which is free). The service was good.

I was looking for brunch and I saw the good reviews of this place. It's an okay-ish place. I got a table immediately and the staff was nice and friendly. It's tidy, well-organized and classy. It's a nice and quiet place for breakfast. The menu and prices are good. The menu has the classical options for brunch, nothing wow about it. I got the Sunset Super. I was a little bit dissatisfied with the food presentation but it tasted pretty good.

The restaurant is giving cozy comforts diner with abut 20 people worth of seating. Join the waitlist as soon as you can because you can wait up to 2 hours for a table on a Sunday morning. After we got seated and our waiter came over and he wasn't giving the most welcoming energy, he seemed a little stand off ish which was weird but we assumed that's just how he was lol. Other than that that the service was good. We started with the biscuits. You have an option to have it with gravy or jam. We got jam and it came with a clotted cream like spread and a cinnamon apple tasting jam. The biscuits were nice and fluffy. We got an ice coffee too and it was really good. I always come for the party melt. It comes with their house salad and a scoop of their sweet potato salad. The whole plate was fantastic. Ordered OG patty melt (reuben style), sour cream donut, egg and steak(or sausage? dont recall). Patty melt is really good. unique. tender and juicy patty. with dipping sauce on the side. Egg & steak(or sausage....dont recall) is too normal (my friend prefer to eat my patty melt instead). Sour cream donut is crazily delicious! not too sweet, soft and airy dough. We wish to buy more (cz we only ordered 1, just to try). As we were eating, people kept coming (but restaurant is full and they need to register for online waitlist, which could take 2-3hrs waiting list). Worth to try if you live nearby. Otherwise, probably it's ok to skip. It'a good or unique, but not too wow/mind blowing (especially for a far commute). It's a simple-and-classic-and-feels-homey vibe type of breakfast after all. Fast and attentive service. Cheers!

With its red exterior, snug booth seating, and counter stools worn smooth by years of faithful custom, it wears its authenticity without affectation. The Irish breakfast is the undisputed centrepiece: a generous, unapologetically hearty spread that arrives with the sort of abundance one associates with a proper Irish kitchen. Portions are substantial and satisfying, calibrated for appetite rather than aesthetics -- and all the better for it. The menu is unpretentious, and the cooking honest. What distinguishes The George Street Diner most, however, is the quality of its hospitality. The service is warm and unhurried, characterised by a genuine attentiveness that is increasingly rare. One leaves not merely fed, but looked after -- and that distinction matters. It is the sort of neighbourhood gem one recommends without hesitation, and whose reputation travels well. I have done so on multiple occasions, and the response has been unfailingly positive. A treasured find for weekend brunch in Toronto.

He couldn't eat it. We both basically ate the egg with a piece of the soda bread. Service was great. Coffee cup never empty. But omg, SO pricey for a diner. Won't be back.

Sadly there was no chair for her to sit down on yet it didn't stop her from going to her regular spot for a Sunday brunch. She told me that she has been coming here for many years, even before it was called Sammy's. Has it been 30 years, she asked herself? Either way, she made it known that she is quite the regular. Very nice and friendly lady. These are the types of regulars that make the diner what it is. There is a sign in clipboard at the front, as soon as you walk in. You have to sign in as part of contact tracing in case there is an outbreak of COVID linked back to this establishment. Make sure you do not block the pathway from behind the bar, I didn't block it but a large family with several kids needed a place to stand in line and wait for a big table, because servers will get very mad at you and tell you "I NEED TO GET BY! DON'T BLOCK THE WAY!" But there is no where to stand when the lineup is 20 people deep. This is something to think about once the weather gets colder and there is a long lineup out the door. Perhaps takeout would be a better option than to be yelled at by the short haired waitress with tattoos? While I did not mind waiting and I had a book to occupy my time in the lineup and at the table before I was given the menu, I could see that this was obviously a rush time, prime time lunchtime at the diner, maybe others might be a little more impatient than me? I could watch a snail crawl for hours, patience is a virtue. The wait is very long to get seated and even longer to get food. While the food was pretty good, and the other server was very friendly, attentive and nice, I think they were short staffed that day and nothing is ever as instant as fast food. My advice would be to go here when you have the time to wait. Don't come here if you are in a rush. It's better to only come here when you have lots of time to wait.
