BUYER BEWARE! Do not trust this business and always get a Pre-Purchase inspection (PPI) before you buy from anyone. Take the car to an independent repair shop who will charge $75-125 to do an inspection. Do not rely on Carfax--Only insurance reported accidents are on there. If people fix it themselves and not reported, you won't see it on Carfax. PPI is well worth it! It saved me tens of thousands of dollars and a lot of headache. They will look you in the eyes and try scam you. I don't know how people like this sleep at night knowing they rip people off their hard earned money. Contact me if you want details and advice regarding this business. read more

My old car recently died on me, leaving me with no other option than to buy a new car. I found Sunset Car Company online and saw that they were selling the car I wanted for a reasonable price. Right from the jump, German was wonderful and accommodating. My credit score is pretty rough and I have some intricate circumstances that made financing a car anywhere else incredibly difficult, however German did everything within his power to make it possible! This was my first time financing a car and let me just say that this company made it a great experience! read more

Great experience. German was quick and informative about the car, making it less stressful. Audi a4, 90k miles!! Great price :)

Would give negative stars if possible!!!! Do not use this co. Purchased a used vehicle here and it started falling apart. Engine problems. Brake problems , electrical problems you name it. Went to replace the rear windshield wiper only to find the motor was broken and not even attached to the mount. Brake lights did not work, head lights went out. Transmission shifting bad after 3 months. Car was not drivable after just 8 months of purchase. read more

This is worst car dealer I ever met. So rude and dumber. Please don't even try with this company. read more

I WOULD definitely recommend this place to anyone who doesn't wanna get taken advantage of. THESE GUYS ROCK! I recently went through a divorce so my credit was shot and they were still able to get me a great interest rate and great price that no other place could. I was looking for weeks but Kal at Sunset cars really took care of me and got me the car i wanted and at the price I wanted. Thanks guys! read more

I stumbled upon this car dealership after going to a few dealerships within the area and...Wow! This place is the real deal. I came in clueless on what to get but Shannon English was there to guide me in the right direction. Unlike most used car dealerships, Shannon English was not trying to take advantage of me. She gave me a great deal on the car I wanted and a nice warranty! Shout out Sunset Car Company! Keep doing what you do! read more

Stay away from this place. I bought a car from them that I like. I had multiple appointments with the salesman and he was late for every one of them. He told me the auction had the extra key and for a fee of $100 they can overnight them. Bullshit. I know they have the key, and are trying to get an extra $100 out of you. What auction place doesn't give you all the keys. He called me a week after I bought the car and said if I wanted the extra key I had to pay the $100, I asked if I can have the number of the auction place. He told me no, I said if there was any other option than overnight, he said no that's all they do. He also told me I needed to pick up my registration, WTF!! This place is shady, best to just away. German is the name of the salesman. I hope they decide to not f*ck people over in the future. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service we've ever experienced. Not only were they unhelpful and rude, they lied to our faces. We asked about a specific truck that they posted online and was told they don't have it. Then he said, "I didn't want you calling tomorrow and asking so that's why I told you that." He claimed his boss put the ad up, not him. It was pure craziness. read more

DON'T come here for anything. This place is sketchy. They'll say the listed price doesn't include any accessories and try to charge you an extra $1200 (false advertising). They will say you can test drive a car if you have the cash-in-hand. read more

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS WAS A SHOCKER. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was pre approved for an auto loan with a finance co. So i called sunset to ask what they would need from me. When i told him who the finance co was, he replied " they finance anyone. So im going to need $6000 down. I fumbled over my words, and replied " did you say $6000"? He replied yes. The price of the vehicle was $9000. And that was for a 2000 model. A 20 years old car for $9000" with a $6000 down payment. Talk about shysters. I'll be reporting them to the BBB.******** BUYER BEWARE******* read more

We had a great experience here although we didn't end up buying a vehicle from them. Very professional and friendly staff but they are also very straight up about not bargaining - our salesman rattled off their final price policy as well as warning about the full purchase cost (to include tax and registration) in a way that may feel a bit heavy handed to some although I like just getting to the point myself. They were very accomodating to our request to have a mechanic come to check the car and allowing us to test drive it. We did feel we would have been in good hands if the car had turned out to be what we wanted. read more

Great experience at Sunset Car Co. Friendly and fast service... they did their best to make sure we could drive away in the car we wanted for our son. All of their cars were clean and in great condition, especially after experiencing other used car lots. We would definitely go back for another car purchase, and to see Marshall too! read more

Wow. This place REEKS of scam. Went there to look at a Mazdaspeed3. Seemed acceptable, so I asked to take it for a test drive. The salesman asked me "if the test drive goes well, will you commit to buying today, or are you looking at others?" When I told him I had other Mazdaspeed3s to look at before making a decision, I was told they weren't comfortable with me test driving the car. They realized I wouldn't buy without comparison shopping and wouldn't be bullied into buying a car that day, so they told me I can't test drive the car. May as well say "you're not stupid enough to buy from us, so we aren't interested." read more

My husband and I recently went to this dealership to view an 07 Chevrolet Classic. Upon our arrival, we were kindly greeted and given the CarFax straight away. Everything was straight to the point and all aspects and history of the vehicle were shared with us. Only serious buyers are given a chance to test drive, simply because the vehicles held at this lot are kept at low mileage. We were given a great deal for a truck that only had 17,000miles and one owner. Their vehicles are well maintained and given thorough inspection. To note, some vehicles have parts removed before sale because of possible theft. They were very understanding when we came back after our purchase when we noticed our windshield wipers were almost gone. They simply replaced it with no issues and no additional out-of-pocket fees. I have had the best experience at the Sunset Car Company Dealership. Unlike other dealers I've been to that are rude or are about getting the most money from you, they care and like to build relationships with their customers and like to sell their vehicles to those who would treat them well. Thank you Sunset Car Company! read more

The people here were fantastic! I read the other reviews and all I can say is I had a great experience with everyone who helped me through what can be a stressful time. The worst dealer I've ever been to they wanted to run my credit first before I even get to test drive their vehicles which is a loud of BS I should be able to test drive first then I would see If i wanted to start the process of running my credit if I liked the vehicle also their lot is sketchy and had no customer parking read more

This place is a little hidden gem. I have no idea how they fit so many cars on that lot. I was on a mission to buy a 4 wheel drive truck, and had run into issues at several other places (cars weren't actually there, or weren't ready to buy). I found a great truck, nice and clean, my dad's a mechanic and there weren't any glaring issues with it. I noticed below that someone mentioned that they were auction trucks, which didn't bother me. I've had the experience that I've traded in cars that would go to auction and end up in other places, it's not uncommon. Dealers don't want to get stuck with cars that don't fit their market, etc. ANYWAY, my car buying day was pretty stressful by the time I ended up at Sunset, but these guys were incredibly helpful, kind, and accommodating. I was able to test drive the truck without any issues. Drove the truck all the way to Montana and had no problems, hopefully I'll get another 100,000 miles out of it! Also, their dog Marshall is pretty great. read more

I was in the market for an economical car within my budget and my search took me to Sunset Car Company. I found a 2012 Honda Civic Coupe. Everyone was welcoming, helpful & straight forward, from my first contact with Maria to meeting the owner Ray and then working out all the details of the sale, trade in & financing with German. Even Marshal, the handsome canine, greeted me with a wagging tail. As a senior citizen, I was a bit apprehensive that I would be taken advantage of & 'talked into' something I'd later regret, nothing could be further from that fact. German was respectful and very helpful and worked with me until we came to an agreement I felt comfortable with. They took in my old Nissan and for its condition, gave me a very decent trade-in credit. He even made arrangements for the Civic to be checked out by a third party mechanic I chose. I felt valued as a customer even though I was in the market for a less expensive car . We treated each other fairly and that's how business should work . These folks are on the up & up and can be trusted from my experience . If your search finds that they have a car you'd like to purchase , please go to see them and you'll drive away satisfied .... I was with my entire transaction ! Thank you German , Ray and Sunset Car Co read more

I show up with $8k down to finance a truck I asked the salesman if I could take a look at 2 Tahoe's, I like & ask him the price's he tells me them, one $14k the other $16k I said ok can I see the inside & then he hits me with the how much down do you have do you have good credit looks at me from head to toe & says minimum $4K down & 700 on credit do you have that like I said I have $8k on hand & my credit is solid I felt offended so hit him with the ok let me see your invoice price & he asked me all confused what is that like come on if you sale cars you gotta know what is a invoice I kindly explain the salesman it means how much you guys got it for I'll put 2k more what you got it for & he tells me fuck off we don't do that here & starts walking away read more

This is probly one of the best dealerships in Santa Ana highly recommend this dealer, great customer service. Check them out!!

Ali is extremely rude. He got very angry and abusive when asked specific questions about a vehicle. There's only one reason to do that: because you don't want there to be any record of the answers you give. Other dealers were happy to describe the vehicles they had for sale in detail, which saved me a lot of trouble because I was looking for a specific type of vehicle, and they were all over So Cal, and to visit every one would clearly have been impossible. Those other dealers were clearly PROUD of what they had to offer, in contrast to Ali. Ali inadvertently did me a favor, though: I realized immediately that the smart move was to avoid him like the plague. I ended up buying three og the vehicles I needed for my business elsewhere, over the course of about 7 weeks. read more

Extremely unprofessional and out of the ordinary introduction that completely ruined my day and eagerness to purchase the exact car I have always wanted. Strangely, I was checking out a car they had in there inventory online and was given a call back from a female employee who sounded very confident and excited to help me out. So I made an appointment to come Look at the car with almost 99% intent of purchasing the vehicle and as soon as I show up a young Hispanic gentleman walks outside as I stepped out of my friends car and he approach's me after I had already taken a glance at the vehicle up close from the outside and the first thing he does after his verbal introduction is hands me the keys. Mind you, the car I am trying to purchase is a used 6 speed manual 2012 Volkswagen GTI with a few aftermarket parts installed and the pictures online clearly show in detail from multiple angles every single part of the cars interior and exterior. So when he handed me the keys I immediately assumed it was to take it for a little test drive with every intention of only making sure that the car I was literally about to purchase with cash in hand was in good shape and that the steering, engine, clutch, etc. were all in good working condition. So as I pull it out of the parking spot and proceed to drive it towards the entrance he walks up to me and I asked if there was a problem and I said I'm sorry was I not supposed to test drive it and he was supposedly shockEd that I had even moved the car and then told me that he's never heard of a dealership that allows such a thing without doing any paperwork first and also proceeded to insult me by telling me I didn't even know how to drive stick and that I was lucky that I wasn't going to be arrested for driving it without his spoken permission and that "THEY" were no longer willing to sell me the car when he literally just allowed everyone of those things and not to mention didn't even bother presenting the car to me or speaking to me about it at all whatsoever and on top of it all said that he didn't even know my name and yet the first few words we exchanged before he handed me the keys to "check it out" were Hi my name is .... etc. instead of showing me the vehicle himself and making some sort of presentation on it and or getting inside the car with me to make sure I was aware that I wasn't yet given permission to test drive it. I completely understood his concern but then once I apologized for being insulted and then attempted to as politely as possible start the whole introduction over and pedal backwards in the whole conversation after he had his boss come out just to drive the car back to its original parking space. He also kept repetitively saying that he didn't know if he was even going to be willing to sell the car anymore until I mentioned the fact that I had cash in hand. Then also told me that with my credit score being sort of low and with their specific companies advertised policy about them being able to finance cars to people with all types of credit and may even be able to provide them with an auto loan to help them purchase one, that they weren't going to be able to finance the car unless I had a much higher than advertised specific amount for the down payment and I had purposely thought about not even going down there if they weren't going to be willing to sell that exact car for the exact advertised amount at that exact price because of my one and only very unfortunate and very temporary dilemma of my credit score not being as high as it usually is because of a minor issue with a stolen credit card that was used fraudulently in my name that I am still in the process of disputing. Point being that I was very excited and have waited a very long time to find this exact car the exact way I have always dreamed of owning it and when I finally went to go look at it whilst being very hesitant to blow the little cash I have in hand just to be able to finance it but at the same time also extremely eager to finally have my dream car In my possession, I was given the worst possible presentation and introduction and basically am now having to consider giving this company my business. Such an extremely unfortunate and very displeasing experience for me and nothing like the one I hoped to have with this mediocre family owned used car dealership on Harbor Blvd in Santa Ana, CA and especially after I sat around nervous about what and how I was going to word everything when discussing the price and ability to finance. read more
