The gentleman at sunset auto diagnose and repair of my car quickly and efficiently, the pricing was fair, and their service is warm and friendly. I'm so grateful for their aid when my car's battery cables failed on me the other day, in a drive-thru, no less. This review is long overdue. I was introduced to Sunset while dating my then girlfriend (now wife) in 2010. She had been taking her car to this shop since moving to the Valley several years before. I was in need of a reliable, independent mechanic, and started taking my SUV there. I've rarely been as satisfied with car repair to the level I have here. Jack, the owner, is a great guy, extremely knowledgeable and a straight shooter. He's really good at diagnosing problems as well as fixing mistakes made at dealers and other shops. Bottom line, if you don't need a certain repair, he won't recommend it. Same goes for Jeff and the rest of the crew. Honest service at a reasonable price, which is the best you can get with a car repair shop. I now drive a new Toyota 4Runner, and have decided to bypass the free scheduled maintenance from Toyota in favor of having Sunset do the work. No knock on any dealers, but I know that at Sunset the work will be done right, timely, and affordably. Can't say enough about this business; highly recommended. read more

Zero respect for other peoples time. I have a toyota prius v which has a leaking rear shocks, according to autonation toyota tempe. They quoted an arm and a leg to get it fix thus I needed a second opinion. I scheduled an 8 am 7/17/2015 appointment . When I showed up, they told me It will be 2 hours b4 they could get to me, appointments here are useless. I came from work 1 am, slept 3 am, forced myself to wake up early to get to their shop. Inspite of being so sleepy because Im old fashion and believe in keeping ones word. I forced myself to get to their place and was told to wait 2 hours. If they have zero qualms disrespecting my time, I suspect they would have no problem screwing my wallet or car.Pls run away from this car shop. read more

Car repair shop you can trust. (Which is rare right?) I first took my car to get fixed at another local shop and they wanted to charge me $500+. I said no way and stopped at Firestone, a company I thought had a better reputation but wanted to charge me $450. Finally, based on a recommendation from a friend, I took my car to Sunset Automotive. They did the repair work for $183 and luckily I also got same day service. I've taken my car back there one more time and also got great service. They do seem really busy, though it's obvious why. I came here after going to dealer ship to save money on the repair cost. The things that were quoted from the dealer were cheaper here...that's to be expected anywhere that's not a dealer. One thing that caught my eye that seemed off in the quote he gave me was to change a water pump. To do this he said would be extensive and so quoted other things that needed to be done prior to get to the water pump. Since I was skeptical, brought it to another shop found on yelp and they use the same quoting program. So they explained that the quote for the water pump already accounts the labor for all the other items needed to do the job. In other words, paying 3x to do the same job. Not sure about their work since I didn't go here, but if you do decide to go here...just get a 2nd quote. read more

Jack and his crew are the best bunch of guys I have ever had work on my car. I've taken my car to them for the past 15 years here in the valley and they have never let me down. They are always honest, like the time just brakes said I needed some dust covers over the brakes for $850, they told me it wasn't necessary, and most cars don't even come with them. Saved me quite a bit. I live a little a good drive away and every time I have tried to take a short cut with someone else...I've gotten burned. But they have always been there to fix AAA's and the Chandler dealerships mistakes. These guys know their cars. They do very good work, quickly, and at a good price. I have recommended them to a lot of friends who are also very thankful I gave them the recommendation. I've learned my lesson, I won't even take my car for an oil change anywhere else anymore. My family and I have been coming here for years, these are some really great guys here! I was taking my Xterra to the Nissan dealership for oil changes for the first few years after I bought it because it was free, and every time they'd tell me something needed a repair/replacement of something (no, it wasn't every oil change but it was more often than it needed to be), I'd take it to Sunset for a second opinion and only once did these guys tell me I actually needed it. I have referred many folks here but just this weekend, I sent another friend here after she was having a hard time starting her car, she just moved down to the Chandler area from north Scottsdale and needed a recommendation. She dropped it off Monday evening (Memorial Day), they checked it out on Tuesday morning and told her that it was definitely the starter but that based on the year, when she bought it, etc, that it was probably under warranty, and even called over to Hyundai for her to check. Seriously...who else does that?! Turns out it was, thus saving her several hundred dollars and there are MANY seedy establishments that would not have. I'm telling you, I would trust Sunset Automotive, and all of the fantastic people they have working there (and have been there for YEARS, I might add, a testament to their reputation) with any car issue on the planet. As a girl in her mid 30's who knows zilch about cars, I can't explain the peace of mind I have about taking my car there and referring my equally clueless friends :).
