Let me start with a little history. I live in Irvine, CA which is in Orange County. We have a 2015 Ford Edge with a panoramic sunroof. The sunroof shade broke. It would move back but one side went farther back than the other. We took it to our local Ford dealer, and they gave us an estimate of $5,700 to fix it. We found an independent outfit in Costa Mesa, took the car to them and they said they would fix it for much less than what Ford quoted. We said to go ahead and fix it. They said they had to order parts and would let us know when they came in. Weeks went by with no communication. I finally called them and they said the parts were not available from their supplier. I asked them to text me the part numbers they needed and I would order them from an online Ford dealer I had used before. They said they would. It's been months now and I still haven't heard from them. We have relatives in Chandler, AZ and we went to visit them in June. I did a Google search on sunroof repair and one of the companies was Sunroof Specialties LLC in Mesa, AZ. I called and spoke with the owner, Mike Johnson. Mike said to bring the car in and he'd take a look. He took it apart and determined what parts it needed. We were heading back to California in a few days and one of the parts he needed wasn't available locally and would take 7 to 10 days to get there. We could pay extra for expedited shipping, but they would not guarantee delivery in our timeframe. We spoke with Mike and agreed to pay him for the parts, and he could install them the next time we came to Arizona, and we'd pay him for his labor. We arrived back in Arizona last Thursday and took the car to Mike on Friday. He worked all weekend and let us know on Sunday that the car was ready. The car was perfect. Not only did Mike fix the sunshade but he also removed the moving section of the sunroof and lubed the tracks it slides on. It works like new. The first time Mike worked on the car he vacuumed it when he was done. We travel with a Siberian Husky who sheds a bunch in California and especially in Arizona. When we got the car back, we could not find a single piece of fur. To make a long story a bit longer, Mike Johnson is the real deal. He's knowledgeable, friendly and, most of all, honest. Driving from California to the Phoenix area to get a sunroof fixed may seem a bit crazy, but I'll do it again if I need my sunroof repaired. I highly recommend Sunroof Specialties and Mike Johnson. He did a great job at a significant saving from what the Ford dealer wanted. read more

Mike was very friendly and accommodating. Other shops said they'd have to back order motor for my dodge charger sunroof and that it would not be available until end of next month, but Mike was able to get it in under two days after pulling some strings and complete it same day. Great pricing and no games. Highly recommend excellent work. read more

My daughter took her 2022 Toyota Camry XSE in for a full panoramic sunroof replacement after her sunroof got stuck in the open position. Dealership quoted her $11k to replace! She came here and got it done and says it's awesome! New sunroof is quieter than original one! Shop was easy to deal with, installer/owner was great to work with. Pricing and communication were prompt and upfront and honest! Would highly recommend this place for any sunroof repairs without hesitation!! read more

My moon roof was stuck in the vent position and I didn't feel like paying over $2k to the dealership just to close it. I'm fine with keeping it closed. John is one of the friendliest guy you've ever met. He offered to "try" and close it (Camry's are notorious for this issue) and if he couldn't do it he wouldn't charge for the attempt. When he did fix it he charged me a very reasonable price. Hopefully I never have sun roof issues again, but if I do I know where to bring it! read more

Probably the most outsanding customer service I have experienced in a very long time. We drove 45 minutes to get my sunroof fixed here and it was worth it! Mike knows his stuff. The dealer was going to charge over $2000. It was less than half and a wonderful experience. I even got the car back on the same day. Highly recommend! read more

Was amazing. I definitely recommend him. Fixed my roof with no charge. Found the issue right off the badt read more

Many thanks to Mike for fixing what others couldn't. Didn't think I was going to get a working shade again, but he did it. Mike is also one of the nicest people around!! read more

Took my daughter's car for an insurance replacement of her sunroof and the owner Mike greeted me. Nicest guy I've met in a long time time. He's been in business there for many years. His work is top notch and I highly recommend this place. No waiting area, but he directed us to a few local restaurants within 5 minutes or less. On top of that, I unfortunately left a pair of prescription glasses in one of the local restaurants and they could not locate them when I called. Mike went over there and personally walked the route we took and talked to the restaurant proprietors and searched again for me. Unfortunately, they weren't found. read more

Mike didn't ask me to leave a review but he left a great impression. He serviced my sunroof pretty quickly, dropped it off end of day Monday and by Tuesday when i had gotten off work he had it fixed and looking beautiful. When i got to the shop he was actually vacuuming my car as well. Hes a great guy and i definitely recommend coming here. Support local businesses. Mike has over 50 years owning this repair shop. It may be a messy but he takes great care of his customers cars and again, couldn't recommend more. read more

Mike is Amazing. Great value. Great customer service. Takes time to explain the parts and price. He took his time to explain everything Very helpful. read more

Mike did an outstanding job. I was getting quoted thousands from the dealer. After hearing about how Sunroof & Specialties is where guys from other shops take their cars, I have him a call. Couldn't be more polite and friendly. You just don't get that from chain/big shops anymore. And the work was top notch couldn't be happier!! read more

When I first purchased my Nissan, I knew something was off with my sunroof. At the time it wasn't leaking, but I always heard a squeak. I guess there's always a risk when you buy a used car. Nissan never addressed it properly, brought it to their attention on more than one occasion and was always told they see nothing. Well years later, I needed to have it looked at and did some reviews online and found Mike. What a great personality he has and is very knowledgeable. I had a leak in the sunroof because of the tubes needing to be replaced, and he pointed out how my sunroof was misaligned and noticed a dent on top, which caused the glass to shift. I probably purchased it this way, but thanks Nissan for ignoring the obvious. Not only did Mike fix the tubing and get rid of the leak, he also fixed the alignment and shifted the glass. The squeak finally disappeared!!! Thanks so much Mike for paying attention to detail and truly caring about your work. read more

If you have a sunroof need of any kind, this is your place. I was forced to find someone to fix my sunroof, after my sunroof got stuck open at my mechanics, trying to give me a quote and then said that they couldn't repair the problem, that it was to complicated because it dealt with the tracking system. This was on a Friday and we're in the monsoon season. We stumbled upon Mike doing a quick google search. Saw all the good yelp comments and thought we would give him a call. Mike answer the first try and told me that it is very common for my 2011 Ford F250 to have this problem. He said with Ford part's it would cost $2700 but he could do it for about $900, with aftermarket parts that met OME standards and he would do it the next day on Saturday and have it done within that day. Mikes place is nothing fancy and looks like an organized junkyard. Mike completed the job for the price he told me. Mike has owned and been installing sunroofs for almost 50 years now. He is truly one of the first pioneers of sunroof installation. Back in the 70's and 80' dealerships used Mike to install sunroofs into brand new cars, since sunroofs weren't an option from the manufacturer. People would pay the dealership this up-charge to have Mike completely install a sunroof. Mike had several employees back in the day but today it is just Mike who works 7 days a week. Mike is a very nice and humble person. After all this what I will say is that I would drive from Flagstaff to have Mike fix my sunroof. Not only does he have more knowledge then probably anyone in AZ on sunroofs but it is at least half the price less expensive and he is just a great guy that is very honest. Go see Mike and don't judge the look of his shop by the quality of work he does Mike is amazing!! Thanks Mike! read more

Mike fixed our Navigator sunroof for a fair price and very quickly. He is the real deal and knows his stuff. I would certainly recommend him. read more

Mike did an AMAZING job installing my automatic sun roof. He was very professional with me and straight to the point! You can tell he's passionate and works very hard. THE ONLY THING I'd say is the next person who goes to see him, TELL HIM TO GET AN ASSISTANT!! He deserves someone to help him and get a coffee for him whenever he needs one. Okay that is all! read more

The dealer was charging me 2k after charging $175 for diagnostic on my son's Scion TC sunroof repair. Felt ripped off by dealership! Found the sweetest man who fixed it over night for $300. Thank you! read more

Mike is very skilled at what he does. We had one of the back sunshade on the sunroof fail and I was looking for a solution that wouldn't break the bank to fix it. Mike was upfront and very accomodating. He narrowed down the issue pretty quickly and gave us a fair quote. He kept us informed of the progress and finished the work in the amount of time he had said he would. If you have an issue with your sunroof, Mike is the person to go see. read more

Thank you Mike! We truly appreciate your service and fair price. Today, my sunroof opened with a horrible grinding noise and would not close again. It's a 15-year-old truck with 270,000 miles on it, so I couldn't justify the costly dealer replacement, but I needed to get it closed. My husband tried but was unable to get it to budge. I called Mike. He was super helpful over the phone and was able to get us right away. Within a few hours, he was able to get it closed. I now have a skylight instead of a sunroof, but I'm more than happy with that! read more

I purchased a 1998 Mercedes E-320 that was in super shape except for the sun roof which was left partially open and whose gears had been stripped and cloth had been water-damaged and pulled out. I took the car to Mercedes of Chandler and they gave me the clear impression that they did not want to work on it and that they would have to charge me a least a couple of thousand dollars just to position it in the CLOSED position so I could take it through the car wash! Mike gave me a incredible price to put the sun roof in the closed position and surprised me by cleaning the cloth and reinserting it looking almost good as new. What a guy! Thanks so much Mike! read more

Mike fixed my sunroof for a quarter of the cost as sun devil auto would!! He's amazing and knows exactly what the problem is with your sunroof!!! Go to him! read more

I can't say enough good! Mike was wonderful - got back to me right away with a very reasonable price for replacing my moon roof. He also took the time to give me tips on how to keep the glass from breaking more. Mike is extraordinarily polite and knowledgeable - he offered to work with my schedule and let me know what restaurants were within walking distance when I brought the car in. The replacement took less than an hour, and Mike washed ALL the windows and vacuumed the car! Everything works beautifully and looks great. Highly recommended! read more

Simply stated, don't go anywhere but here. Mike is a quality guy, does great work, at a good price; and is a pleasure to talk with. Dealers send their sunroof issues to Mike, so you should as well. I called so many places to get the work done and they all said to take my Expedition to the dealer. Which I did, and they wanted 2-3x what Mike charged and wanted to take more time than Mike did. Save yourself the trouble, hassle and money; call Mike first! Great job Mike!! God bless you and your mom! read more

I highly recommend s this shop! Took my truck in to get sunroof kit installed great job! And half the price of dealership! Thanks!

Mike was a huge help and saved me so much money when my sunroof was lodged open. Upon reviewing how much it could potentially cost at a dealership I was lucky enough to find his shop online. He was honest, hardworking and I could not recommend him anymore. Mike was able to fit me in his busy schedule and solved my sunroof problems way ahead of schedule and very affordably. Ultimately, Mike runs a great business and is a great guy. read more

The sunroof on our 2004 Toyota Sienna suddenly failed in the open position while my wife and I were spending a few days in Sedona. A bit of Internet research about the recommended repair process together with my preliminary efforts quickly demonstrated that I was out of my depth in attempting a fix, so we called our trusty mechanic of 20 years. He promptly referred us to Mike at Sunroof Specialties in Mesa. Mike is over 30 miles away from our home. We nevertheless made the journey based on our mechanic's glowing recommendation, and are very glad that we did. Mike completed the repair quickly and at half the price a dealership would have charged. He's been working with sun roofs all his adult life, and is encyclopedic in his knowledge. Our experience suggests that he is honest, competent, efficient and a very pleasant person. I would grant 6 stars on this review if the option was available. read more
