I kind of want to live here. This is a very interesting coffee shop. Well, I do not know if it is a coffee shop, a diner, or a bar but it really hit the spot for me. I visited this place on a Saturday morning and the vibe was pretty much relaxed (perhaps, everyone were recovering their hangovers). I ordered the grain bowl with an egg (three dollars extra). I will admit when I saw the pictures of this bowl on Yelp I kind of made fun of it; however, I ended up ordering it. I probably ordered it because the menu is fairly limited and it was the only thing that seemed like it would make my hungover self happy. The salt content was the only issue that I had with the grain bowl. It seems to have extra sesame seeds and salt in it that overpowers the quinoa. Buuuuuutttttttt, the thing that really made my meal was the beet juice bloody Mary. I never expected anything with beet juice to be so delicious and refreshing. Plus, it had picked veggies as its garnish. I often find that many Bloody Marys are way to thick and "tomatoey" and this treat was very light. AND, it tasted it "healthy". The only bad thing about the meal was the weak and bland coffee. The service was pretty fast - You order the food at the bar and the wait staff brings it out to you. I highly recommend this spot if you are in the area. I will say that it is not that great of a spot to visit if you are not already in the neighborhood or dropping by for a visit. I definitely will return in the near future, because I really want to try some (or all) of the speciality mixed drinks. read more

Not impressed at all. My husband and I wanted to try this place out, because there aren't many bar/bistros near us. We were excited to have a place close by that had greens accompany your food instead of grease. So, we walked over full of curiosity and anticipation. When we arrived, It was pretty bare and underwhelming. Yet, it still had charm. The bartender was whatever, not rude but certainly not attentive. We weren't really welcomed or greeted. We ordered. I got the beet salad, with yogurt and candied pecans. My husband had the grilled cheese with chorizo. It took ages to get our food, despite there being only 3 other patrons there, none of whom had ordered food. So, I couldn't understand the wait. When the food did come out, it was lackluster. The presentation was poor. My beet salad looked like cum coated ruby chunks over dried grass topped with wood-chips. I was seriously in disbelief how something so simple could be executed so poorly. I started eyeing my husbands sandwich because it actually looked tasty. HOWEVER, the sandwich was lukewarm, the bread was barely grilled, and the cheese was not at all melted. The dressing on the side salad resembled wet sand. IThe chorizo tasted like cheap lunch meat. It was so unappetizing. If the food is going to be such an afterthought with no attention to detail or taste, why offer it at all? I didn't want to try any of the drinks because I was so put off by the food. In addition to the crappy food and drab atmosphere, the music was all over the place and the clear glass plates looked dirty. Personally, l prefer white china plates for serving food, especially at establishments because they hide water marks and don't look so cheap. But you get what you pay for I suppose. I'm totally turned off to this place. I'll try to go back to taste the drinks on a Friday night perhaps, maybe it will be a better experience, more ambient and inviting. All three of those stars are for the menu and the space. The employees are wretched with the exception of the guy in the mornings. They never make you feel welcome even though the space is so inviting and comfortable. They even went as far as to ask my friend "why he comes in so much" and they're really withholding about item modifications. The menu items are healthy and creative. Very filling and affordable. Oh, I loved this little cafe. Vibrant with kind staff. The food was fresh, but I wasn't the biggest fan. It's sort of eclectic, I suppose. The coffee and tea was my jam though (especially the iced chai). I also really loved their Bloody Marys - one regular, one with beet juice. Everything was fresh and the staff here was always sweet, especially the gal from Texas who was stoked to meet other people from Texas and made us feel special. New to the neighborhood and came here for breakfast twice. Great simple breakfast - had avocado toast and cold brew. Really simple and elegant food for a little neighborhood cafe. We immediately became friends with the girl at the counter who made us these amazing pickled beet Bloody Mary's! They are so classy and refined - a nice balance between spicy and sweet. Love it so much more than horseradish! Also got the sidecar and loved that too. Curaçao is hard to find, and that cocktail is so lovely. I love the little outdoor space and the bar inside is simple and homey. Will be our new neighborhood hangout. read more

I was hesitant to come here after reading some of the reviews but this is the closest cute joint to my house on the outskirts of Bushwick and we didn't want to travel far. I have to say the service was quite friendly upon entering and we were served drinks immediately. Service needs work, menu is original and delicious, vibe is great. I've never seen anyone who works here give more than 85% of a f***. That tells me either they need to hire staff who don't seem vaguely bummed to be there, or give everyone a 15% raise. There is a table in the corner, where the front windows are, that has a layer of grime on it approximately 1/8" thick in certain areas. It appears that whomever comes to wipe it down never got their rag to reach the edge closest to the wall and it just accumulated over a long period of time. The fact that nobody has noticed this is incredible. The food and drinks here are excellent, the coffee is very well done. The menu is original and tasty made with good ingredients. Today was my first time in the cafe and I have to say I was blown away. They have an extensive brunch menu and have a few vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and efficient. I would recommend anyone looking for a great brunch spot to come. I've been here a couple of times around evening and at night. My husband and I had a good experience. Food was good, nice presentation and chill atmosphere. I went back there today, Saturday around noon and it was horrible. Wish that I did not go there so that I could start my day without being angry and disappointed. I understand it was very busy time, however, the guy at the bar treated me as if I wasn't there, and served others. At first I thought he didn't see me, but after seeing him giving out menu to a group of white girls who came clearly way after me, I realized he is just being racist or ignorant. This place is adorable and the atomsphere is perfect for those long hour computer days. The brunch has a unique menu, but all in all, this is an overpriced hipster cafe. It's my next door bar. I love Olivia, and the whole staff is like family. It's basically my Cheers. It's my go to constantly for cocktails to start a night, spend a night, or end a night. The gluten free/non organic fork comments on here are ridiculous, this is a neighborhood bar with some great food options. I highly recommend you stop in, stay, move in, and enjoy. The service was terrible and it was a slow Sunday afternoon. There approx 4 ppl at the bar and a very small handful of people at tables and no one was bothering the bartender. There was no reason for this kid to be so unhelpful. He seemed high. Which is fine if you're able to do your work at the same time but this kid was just lazy af. Food was cold and took 30 min to get to us. We got eggs. Eggs. Our drinks took sooooo much longer and when I went back to the bar to ask about it, the guy was standing there on his phone and it took in total 45 minutes for a single drink to come to us. Sunrise sunset is my favorite spot in the neighborhood. It is low key and always improving. The menu is simple and delicious. I believe Sarah to be one of their star employees. She has reddish hair and is always upbeat and makes you feel welcome. She is also knowledgable about everything on the menu and seems to make things happen when the restaurant is packed. Sometimes service can be slow, but it is a small operation and they offer bar service, not table service. The only thing I would change is the happy hour menu. It doesn't include wine. read more

My neighborhood haven, the issue with Sunrise Sunset, "SS" as my girlfriend and I call it, is we could easily go every day and never be at home. The "Beet me to the punch" beet Bloody Mary is genius and the pickled veggies are so freaking perfect. The smoke salmon and avocado toast are classic fav's and the $7 cava is not only affordable but delicious. We really enjoy watching the backyard take shape and the addition of the plantings and benches out front are clutch. Then there is the staff: Sarah and Eli are masters of their craft and so damn cool. Warm, conversational and awesome people that have unlocked the perfect balance of a neighborhood bar with an elevated palette. When we step in we know we can depend on the quality and look forward to seeing some familiar faces. All-in-all we couldn't ask for a better spot with round the clock options. Some things we would like to see more of: pop-up guest chefs (vegan please!), spiked cold brew because the only thing better than iced coffee brewed for 12 hours is iced coffee with alcohol, and some finger foods while we drown in signature cocktails and Cava. I was on a run the other day and ran past this place. I was so excited to see a reader board and explained "omg there's finally a cute bar near the apartment!" I went for brunch yesterday with the bf. We both had French press coffee and a Bloody Mary. I loved the pickled carrot in the Bloody but the drink itself wasn't salty enough for my taste. (But i have a salt problem, ask anyone). I poured salt in it and then loved it. I had the Ricotta and poached pear stuffed French toast. It was great! Sweet but not tooooo sweet. Just right. The man had the chorizo and sweet potato hash with 2 eggs on top. A really well done dish that I stole half of. Everything was around $30! I can't wait to go back for a night of drinking.
