I walked in and they got me in pretty much right away. David did an excellent job with my gel manicure, it is even and clean and no gaps or smudges to be found! The shop itself could have been cleaner, but I've seen other reviews that say it typically is so maybe it was just an off day in that regard. It was also very affordable, especially relative to other places I've seen in the area. Overall good experience and I definitely plan to go back - I noticed they have the magnetic/cat eye type of gel which I love for fall/winter! I always tend to have to play musical chairs when I go here. The guy up front will tell me to go to chair 5 then come and turn off my water jets and tell me that I have to wait until chair 1 is empty because someone with an appointment just arrived and needed my seat. While I can understand that appointments should be honored, it just upsets me because he has done this to me on multiple occasions. Or he has hit me with the "it will be a 45 minute wait" line with the hopes that I will walk away. Only to find that I know he is bluffing and then they fit me in 10 min later. I have been here enough to know that this man does not need to be managing the customer flow. Or I will call to make an appointment and he will tell me that they are not busy so I can just stop by and then when I arrive 10 minutes later, I have a long wait. Really?!? Why do I keep coming back, you ask? Because I am a glutton for punishment and the Signature Spa Pedicure is the best that I have found in the Twin Cities area so far. Ok I've been coming here for months to get my gel nails filled and a polish change. It always lasts the entire 2 weeks with NO chipping what so ever. I went there last Friday (Today is wednesday) for my usual service of the gel fill and polish change. Everything was fine but when I got home that night, I noticed my thumb polish had chipped a tiny little bit. I kinda thought nothing of it (maybe thought I had bumped it wrong) and just put a little clear coat on it to "glue" it back down so it would not chip any more. It was seriously the smallest chip and the color I had chosen was light anyway so you couldn't really see it. I didn't really think much of it and continued with my weekend. On Monday another one chipped. And then a few more chipped Tuesday (this time bigger than before. So I called and made an appt for today to get them repaired. The gentleman didn't just repair them. He redid the WHOLE manicure. He and the other gal that did them last week asked me if I remembered the color number I had chosen and I had. So they checked the bottle and pulled it from the shelf completely (probably will replace it with a new bottle of that color). Not only did he redo the entire manicure but he did it FREE of charge. He even protested slightly when I tried to tip him (although I did convince him to take it in the end). Holy customer service batman!! I will keep coming here for sure. Not only are they "on point" 99 percent of the time. But when they're not or something happens, they make it right! Highly highly highly recommend. read more

Helen - Soung (Soong) - worked on my pedicure. What I liked is that I was able to soak my feet for a while before she started. That feels to me one of the reasons for a pedicure - to get a hot soak for the feet. The regular pedicure is for $23 and one level up is $33 to include the paraffin wax. The massage with the hot rocks feels great and Helen did a good job, taking her time. I am definitely going back here. read more

Went for my first time at Sunrise nails since it's close to my work.....my nails are PERFECT!!!! I have acrylics and don't trust anyone to paint my nails for me. I usually get them filled and leave without polish at other locations but since Sunrise nails doesn't charge for regular polish with any service, I went for it and OH MY GOD THEY'RE AWESOME. (all together $17, so I tipped $10) I usually have something to complain about but the shaping but the perfect coat of polish, the bullet proof topcoat. I'm in love. Go there. Manicures here - fine. Quality/Shadiness of people who work here - 0 stars. I'd rather pay more to get a manicure from people who don't lie to me or talk about me in a language I don't speak. I was a regular (every 2-3 weeks for gel manicures and pedicures) customer here for a year. When my regular manicurist who became a dear friend suddenly was no longer at the salon without telling me I was told "Sorry, she doesn't work here anymore." We had already arranged my wedding manicure for October, so I knew something was off. I scheduled my next manicure and when I inquired to make sure she was healthy and everything was ok I was met with silence and then the manicurists all talking in Vietnamese coming up with a lie to tell me. I was told by the owner's wife "Yes she is fine, she went to nursing school to pursue her dream to be like you". Flattering and quite a creative lie except I knew this was not true because 1) I'm not a nurse (!!!) despite me wearing scrubs and 2) she would have told me in a year of friendship if this were true. Thank you for stereotyping a female in scrubs. I don't do well with being lied to or talked about behind my back as they try to formulate lies. Especially when I spend upwards of $100/mo at their salon. I would have remained a customer there until that point if they had just told me she pursued other opportunities. Plus, what other lies are they hiding in their nail practices? Well, the lies motivated me more and I found her at another salon after five minutes of calling around, thus confirming their lies to me. But the French tip I got was a little sloppy around the details, which is no good because French tips are pretty standard. It's fine. I don't think I'll be back but I guess you get what you "pay for" but I had a coupon. I got a gel pedicure and not only was it extremely rushed, I left with nail polish all over the side of my toes. It came off by the end of the day and after showering but so did a bunch of skin off the bottom of my foot... clearly scrubbed way too hard because I've never had this problem before at other salons. Finally, it wasn't even a week and a half later and half the gel polish came off a toe (also it's gel, not sure how just half came off...). Basically, come here for a deal with a coupon but don't come for quality work. read more

Byer beware! The woman that did my manicure/pedicure made snarky comments about my feet in front of me in English and then in whatever her language was to the worker next to her (they were clean but in need of a pedicure which was why I was there). She brought out a dirty box of tools... she said she was going to use this "sander" (for lack of a better term) unless I didn't want her too. I wasn't sure but said OK only to realize too late the tool and the sanding tip was dirty! She never cleaned the sanding tip with alcohol or cleaning solution. She proceeded to "sand" not only my toe nails but also the skin on my feet, the cuticles around my toes, etc. Then she put some solution on my toes that caused burning. Only to realize she had made several cuts into my cuticles and surrounding skin with the sander. When I told her my toes were burning she shrugged it off and said it was the solution and to put my feet into the water (she didn't clean the tub, just put one of those liners in which don't guarantee a clean tub). The experience with my manicure was pretty much the same. She basically ruined my nails with the sander (she never buffed the roughness from the sander). I asked only for clean polish, not a color; she slapped one coat on and told me I was done. I should have NOT tipped her at all (I wish I had gotten her name.) I would NOT recommend this salon. The place should be reported/inspected for licenses, cleanliness, etc. read more

Being new to the city (and state) I'm starting from scratch locating salons, stores, mechanics, doctors, etc. This is no easy task especially having left my nail salon of 11 years behind (sniff sniff). I live in Richfield and was pleased to find a new area called Kensington Park which has several food, coffee and salon options. Sunrise Nails is within those shops so I decided to give it a try. I found them to have everything I want and more. A few must have items include a clean appearance, heavy duty massage chairs and modern decor. Additionally I was pleased to get a free bottle of water, a tv for viewing and a great pedicure to include paraffin wax and sea salt. It was very thorough and the place was quite relaxing. It hasn't even been 24 hours after my pedicure and my polish is chipped. I also had to ask them to trim and shape my toenails. I HAD TO ASK!!! Now does that seem right? I would have enjoyed the hot rock massage, however the woman who worked on my pedicure did not apply any pressure into my muscles. I was psyched that they had OPI, but of course, my luck, they didn't have the one color that I always ALWAYS use (it's a certain lilac shade). I don't budge. So when I was looking for something similar the woman came up behind me and kept suggesting blues, reds, a green shade... You would think she'd be helping me find something similar to my liking. Lastly, I don't like it when I'm asked multiple times if I want a manicure. I appreciate 'add-ons' to a sale but not to the point where I want to leave. I mean talk about being obnoxious. Bottom line, I had to vent because this is my first pedicure here since I moved to MN and I'm SO disappointed. I went here for the very first time today after hopping around salons trying to find my new go to nail place. I'm so happy and impressed with my nails! I've only ever been completely happy with my nails at a salon downtown that I love dearly, but it's a little farther than my liking and quite pricey as well. I love acrylics and though my favorite girl there does an absolutely amazing job, I just couldn't justify spending $60+ every two weeks to keep up with them.
