I have been going to LA Nails for several years. Recently, the price for a basic gel pedi has gone way up and the quality has gone way down. Today, I had to go home and finish trimming my cuticles and scrubbing my feet. I will not be returning and I will not recommend them to anyone. I opted for the luxury pedicure ($67) and my friend got the signature pedicure ($57). Both came with paraffin wax which I love, really makes your feet soft to the touch. The nail techs did a good job of cleaning up the cuticles and toe area, while there was slight discomfort from how close they were getting to the skin with the nail trim, I did ask for short and the massage chairs worked perfectly fine to calm my nerves. Would definitely come back for a pedicure, prices were between $57-70 for the various pedicure tiers, everything they used smelt really lovely and the staff is friendly. read more

I was a consistent customer of Hannah's about six years ago or so (she is amazing, I recommend seeing her for all your mani/pedi needs), and I needed a pre-wedding guest pedicure today so I called ahead and was quickly seen, although Hannah wasn't there. I don't remember the name of the woman who did mine but she was good. The only thing that was unfortunate was that it cost an extra $20 to do gel on their second tier pedicure option so it was $78 before tip, which was - in my mind - incredibly expensive. I am a nail biter, and she put a prep nail layer before even adding the acrylics to ensure they would stay on, I have never seen this technique and was so grateful for her personability, technique, and the shop itself is lovely. I have tried countless nail salons and while most do an okay or even good job (and some have just been awful) LA Nails has consistently done an exceptional job. I could not recommend this place more. The Service: Everyone who works here is very kind, friendly, and welcoming. Whether calling to schedule an appointment or entering the salon, they always greet me warmly and kindly and I feel very welcome, appreciated, and well taken care of. I am sure that people have their specific nail technicians that they like to see here consistently but I also know that no matter who I see, they will do a great job and I will be satisfied. I've never had any bad experiences with anyone who works there. They even remember me after I've been gone for months and months - and I'm sure they see so many people every day. While they offer you different kinds of pedicures/manicures (standard, luxury, etc.) they are never pushy or trying to convince you to spend more and more. Also, they're upfront: if it costs more, they'll tell you before they do it. During the actual services, they very much follow your lead regarding whether or not you want to have a conversation. They always politely respect me when I say I want to listen to my headphones and relax. They take their time and do a thorough job every step of the way - yes, even with that pumice foot scrubber that tickles so much lol. When applying the polish they always do a superb job. There was even a time that I (accidentally) moved my foot and messed up all the polish and the technician was very kind and understanding and re-did them all. I tend to just get gel polish and when I get my nails done here I feel like they look perfect for 4+ weeks - no chipping or peeling polish or breaking nails. The Salon: The salon is sandwiched between The Uptowner Cafe on Grand and WOW Blow Dry bar on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul. It's not a very large space but it is a nice setup and they fit enough manicure and pedicure stations without it feeling overcrowded. Near the front of the salon is where they have some chairs for folks who are waiting and where you can choose (regular) polish colors. Continuing in the front area around about 4-5 manicure tables. In the back half of the room is where they have the pedicure chairs. The pedicure chairs are good quality and of course have the wonderful massaging backrest. Also, they use the disposable bowl covers for the pedicure bowl which I sincerely appreciate for sanitary reasons. They have a basket and a few books that show what colors they have for gel/dip nails. For both regular and gel, I think they have a pretty wide selection of colors and a few different brands. I easily found my go-to color there. read more

My daughter had acrylic nails placed at this facility. The application process was decent; however they would not listen to her on the length of the nails she wanted. We went back to have the nails removed because we did not want to attempt to do it at home and have her nails ruined. A male technician assisted her, completely torturing her. Rather than grind the nail down and soften the acrylics for removal, he cut the nail and then took another acrylic nail and pried the old off. This process was extremely painful for my daughter and left her nails very damaged. In some areas, he ripped so much nail off her skin was exposed. He did not remove any glue, instead he used nail glue in areas he had ripped off. It was completely unacceptable service. It is going to take a very long time for her nails to grow out and look decent. She takes vitamins for nail/hair growth so typically has nice strong nails. If I wanted to torture and destroy her nails I could have done it at home for free. I strongly encourage you to not utilize this business for your nail needs. read more

For $30, I had a long foot soak, sea salt scrub, amazing (10 min?!) foot massage, and an awesome polish job still looking great one week later. The main reason for taking off one star is the wait. I had made an appointment but when I arrived, they had me put my feet in the water and wait...and wait.... about 20 minutes later we got started. I had been going here for months and the service was good but seemed to decline over time. The last straw for me was when I went in for a pedicure and acrylic manicure. I was there for 4 hours!! The women, who I'm assuming runs the place, was interrupted from doing my manicure at least 5 times. I actually sat for 20 minutes in the middle of my manicure while she cleaned pedicure stations and cashed out other customers. When she cane back, she started painting the wrong color, and couldn't remember where Ishe was in my service. I usually get only pedicures but decided my fingernails needed help. When Nancy was doing my cuticles, I started bleeding pretty badly. She acted as though this was normal, and I thought maybe it was because I had not gotten a manicure in a while. Briefly afterwards, my partner got her cuticles done and two of her nails stared bleeding to the point where she started crying. Meanwhile, Nancy was attempting to paint around the blood on mine. I've been there 3 times now and this last time I had Hannah and was blown away - - she works with such precision, it's an art. I have a frequent issue with getting nicked by the tools and nearly always bleed but she was so careful I didn't have to worry. I'll admit the first couple minutes of my last visit were a little weird; they close at 7 and I couldn't make it until 6:15 needing a gel fill - the girl I spoke with first kind of looked at me funny and said, "Now?" and looked at the clock. Uhhh, yeah? I get that fills can take some time but you're not closed yet and two women aren't working on anyone. I almost walked out and went back to 7 Nails as they are open until 7:30pm - but I didn't. I sat down with Hannah and I apologized for coming in at this hour and told her I could go somewhere else if they are in a bind and she was very kind and assured me it's okay and looked and the clock and said, "We have PLENTY of time!".
