Breakfast sandwich with hash browns
Nina Z.

Pretty good. This was recommended by a hotel staff member and a block or two from our hotel. Some outdoor seating available, but it's more of a grab-n-go kind of place. Had the croissant sandwich with sausage, hash browns, and eggs. I wish every breakfast croissant came with hash browns. So good! You can also get a breakfast burrito or breakfast platter for a reasonable price. Definitely a great rec!

#2 BREAKFAST Platter. $10.99
Candice F.

We stumbled upon this place right outside our hotel -- $10.99 for 2 eggs, corned beef hash, potatoes and 2 slices of toast. Can't beat that! Same price for a western omlette with ham, onions, and bell peppers, potatoes and 2 slices of toast. So good that we came two days in a row, and it would have been more, except they aren't open on Sundays! The space is small with only 5 bar stools, but there is outdoor seating when the weather is nice. The owner Al has been here for 35 years and offers great quick service with a smile! We wish his business well but also wishes that he reaches his retirement goal soon!

Two eggs with sausage
Rob K.

I was staying nearby and I wanted a quick, hearty breakfast. Sunrise Cafe certainly fit the bill. The woman working the register was extremely friendly. I had two eggs over medium, potatoes, and sausage. Everything was very tasty. Breakfast with a bottle of water was around $12.00. There is seating inside/outside. This isn't fancy, but if you are looking for a quick meal and a reasonable price, this is a solid option. I would return.

2 Eggs with French Toast + bacon
Bradley W.

It's is great food at a good price. Service was fast and friendly. It's a tinny cafe but does have outdoor seating. Inside there is a single bar along the window facing the street. I got the French toast and it was good. 3 plates and 2 drinks came to around 40 dollars.

2 Eggs with Toast

It was alright. I feel like what I ordered is something I could make at home. It seemed like everyone was ordering the sandwiches, so maybe those are better. There is a small window bar inside for eating, but apart from that, the tables are located outside. I don't recommend eating outside because we were eaten alive by mosquitoes.

Bacon egg cheese croissant.
Amanda P.

Food was fast and delicious. The croissant with super buttery and the bacon was very crisp and all for 10 bucks (OJ & sandwich). It's walking distance from the Mayflower Hotel as well. Definitely a better choice than some of the other popular places I've seen for twice as much money.

Sausage, egg and cheese sandwich!! Delicious
Evelyn T.

So thankful that Yelp brought me here!! Had a sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, home fries, a bowl of watermelon and a banana all for $12.75. Breakfast was made infront of me in under 7 minutes and at the most affordable spot cannot wait to come back to this hidden gem!

Fantastic New American / European restaurant in a gorgeous space. I visited the Pembroke as part of…read morea work team dinner during Restaurant Week, and we were thoroughly impressed by the quality of the food, super friendly service, and great ambiance. The space is gorgeous; I love all the plants, and the light brown, light blue, and white color combination for their furniture makes the space look classy and modern. The light brown leather couches are comfortable, and I love the way they circle around the tables to create a natural, cozy booth. Our food was just as beautiful as the space. The Restaurant Week menu comes with an appetizer, main, and dessert. Given how indecisive I can be (and how expansive the normal menu is), I was grateful to have my choices narrowed down a bit. I started off my meal with the octopus. The octopus was remarkably tender and not overly chewy, and had a delightful char that gave it a slightly smoky flavor. They double downed on the smokiness with their burnt chili oil, which, alongside the lemon and salsa verde, gave the dish a wonderfully balanced smoky, savory, and slightly acidic flavor. The crushed potatoes had a lovely crispy shell on the outside and served as a great base for the tender octopus. The main course was probably the easiest choice of the evening -- I'm absolutely obsessed with branzino, so the second I saw it on the Restaurant Week menu, I knew that was what I had to get. The fish is beautifully broiled, with a nice, crispy skin and super tender, flaky flesh. It's topped with a few pieces of roasted garlic and a wedge of lemon. The fresh lemon juice, as well as the lovely side salad, offered a great pop of freshness to bring the whole dish together. And finally, for our dessert, I chose the chocolate torta. This wonderful dessert is remarkably rich and decadent, with a strong dark chocolate flavor. It's topped with a lovely marsala date sauce and scoop of sheep's yogurt ice cream, but still doesn't feel overly sweet. The sheep's yogurt in the ice cream offers a bit of tanginess, and I loved the addition of the candied walnuts for a bit of crunch.

Pablo took amazing care of us, super kind, knowledgeable, and his recommendations were spot on. I got the Kir 75, a mix between a Kir Royale and a French 75, and it was SO good. One of my coworkers and I shared the warm shrimp salad and the steak frites, both delicious. The kitchen even split the dishes for us beforehand which was such a nice touch. Also, the bread basket while you wait? Dangerous levels of good. Definitely coming back next time I'm in DC.

They have a nice selection of cocktails and beer. The salade verte was artistically presented with radishes and a nice vinaigrette. It was topped with green beans which seemed a tad odd. French onion soup was a must try. It had a nice cheesy crust and croutons soaked in the soup. So classic and very tasty. The steak frites was also classic. The frites were tasty and crispy and the steak was cooked well. The steak was slightly small. The roasted salmon was cooked perfectly--very moist and a crisp skin. The fava beans and pea sauce was very creamy. The trout amandine was also cooked well with crispy skin. FYI It is cooked in a ton of butter. We did not order any of the dishes suggested by our waiter LOL, he steered us to the most expensive entrees. His service was quite good, perhaps a tiny bit snooty.
