Our Sunpower system failed in February 2023, 9 years and 11 months after it was installed. Note: there is 10 year warranty. I have been trying to work with them since March. They finally sent a tech team in May to confirm that the junction box (and therefore our system) was "fried" and were lucky that the house did not catch fire. We have been "escalated" deemed critical by the tech. We have been lied to, ghosted, given multiple case numbers and excuses as to why they can't come back and fix it any time soon...or maybe ever. The latest excuse is that they are "waiting for needed equipment" to rewire our system. Despite multiple calls and e-mails, I have heard nothing for nearly 2 weeks and I expect that if and when I hear from their "escalation specialist" it will not have any solutions for us. FOUR MONTHS of trying to get them to fix their products! The irony of course is that they have a major solar equipment facility about 30 miles from here. Evidently, junction boxes, wiring, fuses and maybe even an inverter are too scarce and exotic to even give us a date when we might get back on line. So if you are considering SunPower equipment, DO NOT if you expect to find any customer service. The techs were fine but there are not enough of them capable of addressing problems in a timely manner...or maybe ever. This has been the worst customer service experience ever. read more

The equipment works fine. The customer service....not good. Multiple calls, long wait times, inconsistent answers and delays. Including one guy who said I should pry the front of the box in the garage off and reset the system myself. Ummmmm. I can only guess how how that would have turned out. When I finally got someone who understood the issue, we had lost over a month of when we could have been getting the solar benefit. For $21,000 you would think they would have better customer service. Hello Yelpers! Sadly, this is a bad review. Their panels broke twice during the time I've owned these panels since 2016 - 2023. Pros: 1) When the panels work we're happy Cons: 1) Calling customer service to schedule a repair service takes 1-2 months. 2) It's a 4hr window to wait for the repair persons to arrive. 3) The panels never fully generate the kWh as it claims. Ours is 2 kwh but we usually get 1.3-1.5kwh. 4) It's about 4 months from 10/2022 and our panels are still broken. 5) I'm still working on getting someone out here to finish the repairs. 6) This is the 2nd time our panels broke since we've owned them. Recommendation: Find a different company that is reliable. read more

Where to even start... Would I recommend sunpower? The answer is ABSOLUTELY NOT. We initially obtain an estimate from one of the sales people who also guaranteed us we would get under the NEM 2.0. Once we signed the contract (which occurred in middle of March), they pretty much ghosted us. We tried to contact them via email and phone and didn't get any response. Once we were finally able to get a hold of them, they scheduled our site survey and then cancelled it 2 days prior without any reason or request to re-schedule. We attempted multiple times to follow-up on the status of the project since the deadline for NEM 2.0 was approaching, and got no reponse. They finally emailed us today and told us they weren't able to get us in. Perhaps we dodged a bullet? I can't imagine how they would handle any potential future issues. Please be careful people, because once you sign the contract and if you were to back out, they would charge you $1000 fee. Would strongly recommend going with another company (perhaps a referral from a friend). read more

We have been unable to close this escrow due to the Solar power company not cooperating with the Buyer transfer. The seller, the buyer, the listing agent, and myself, as the buying agent along with escrow officer have spent hours and hours on hold for the past two weeks attempting to reach someone who will assist us in processing this transfer.This morning a Mgr hung up on my Buyer.If you do not value good Customer service,competency then this is the company for you. read more

I've had solar installed from them for years now. I have a maintenance contract with them. They don't honor it at all. The reps have been escalating my request to have my panels fixed for months now. Every time I call, the rep basically stalls and essentially tells me to F off. Don't buy panels from them, there will be no long term support. Stay as far away from SunPower as you can, unless you like non-functioning systems, endless hold times on customer service, and refusal to have a tech come out to your house to even investigate why your system isn't producing energy. My solar system has not been producing energy for several months at the least, and maybe longer. I have called SunPower so many times and get nowhere with them. You're lucky if you can even get a human on the line after endless wait times. Once you do get a human on the line, they'll tell you that you need to contact one of their local dealers. Then you repeat the same exercise with the local dealers, explaining what's wrong, and they tell you you have to contact SunPower corporate to have them send a tech out. But SunPower corporate refuses to send a tech out. The wheels are coming off at SunPower. Stay as far away as you can. They finally sent a tech out a month ago (took about 7 months from my original request). Since then, I cannot get an answer from them about anything. Nobody will respond. AND they charged me $300 to send a tech out. The guy came out, I paid, and then they ghosted me again. I literally cannot get an answer from anyone at the company about whether they will repair my system, whether it's covered by warranty, nothing. Sunpower is a nightmare of a company. read more

What started as a pleasant experience ended in the worst way possible! The customer service and after care is a nightmare... After 2 months of waiting, The technician came out and activated the service. Less than 1 week later the system went down according to the app, and I have not been able to get it restored! I have been on the phone and emails nonstop for 3 days to no avail. Bounced around from one person to another! Left messages for the account manager, IT, customer service and still nada, zero, nil... It seems after they get your business they don't care! The customer service is non existent be warned. read more

Installed the panels about 5 years ago (purchased and SunPower install them itself) and it looks like the production is stable (well, don't know for sure because the panels stopped sending data to SunPower and it takes about a month to send a technician to fix it). But based on what PG&E reports the panels are producing. The reason for 1 star (can't get lower in Yelp) is installation and customer service. Roof started to leak last year under one of the brackets. Took several weeks and probably 6-7 calls with escalation to get somebody to come out and fix it. The technician found an un-caulked hole under the flashing that was the cause, and got fixed. All is good, except a message after several weeks - "leak was caused by the failing roof, we will charge you $300 for the visit". Sent an email with the photo of the problem - "case is closed". Called them - "our notes says it was your fault", "yes, we see the photo, but our notes say....". I sent them the general contractor bill to fix the sheetrock that was damaged - "our supervisor will call you back". It's been a month and a half; I am still eagerly awaiting the call. And now a new leak, in a new location! Same process again - multiple calls to get somebody to come in 2 and a half weeks to fix it, $300 potential charge. Technician comes, says that he tried to fixed it; leaves and 3 days later it leaks again. Another round of calls - "previous case is closed, we need to start a new one; we can't re-open the old one", "somebody from scheduling will get back to you in 2-3 business days"... I asked for manager escalation - spent 50 minutes on hold until the call dropped. Asked for a call back - it's been a day and a half and not a word. Customer service hasn't even re-opened the request to the scheduling department yet. In the meantime the water is dripping; sheetrock has a hole in it already and none of the roofing contractors around here want to touch solar panel to fix the roof. I am stuck. But I won't let it slide. I will find a way for SunPower to pay for all this mess; either through small claims court or through some CA state agency or something else. My conclusions. Customer service is substandard. Case managements is inadequate, SLA driven at the expense of the customer. Customer service management is automatically putting the blame on the customer in order to save money and improve the reporting. Installation by SunPower is substandard (at least it was 5 years ago) - see the attached photo. They just want to close the deal and install it as quickly as they can. My recommendations. If you are planning to install panels - ideally do it when putting the new roof and the brackets can be properly "flashed" and the existing roof surface not damaged. Otherwise - shop for reputable local contractor who can stand by their work instead of trusting SunPower installers. And pray that the roof doesn't leak and you don't have to deal with customer support. read more

Our solar system has been faulty since November of 2021. SunPower started the repair process of June of 2021 and it will be February of 2023 before they'll come out to "repair" it. In the meantime we are paying THOUSANDS of dollars in PGE true up fees and also our monthly solar panel payment. We will not be happy until we are reimbursed some kind of of way financially and our panels are replaced and working 100%. And our advice for anyone reading this - do NOT do business with SunPower. Our installer even dropped them because they were a nightmare to work with. Edit to add: SunPower will not replace our faulty microinverters without replacing the monitoring system first. So we waited a few months for the to do that step. They come out, replace the monitoring system, and then find our SunPower is down and they can't connect our new system to SunPower! "We'll have to come out again" Are you kidding me?! I received an email today saying the earliest appointment is March 17th, over a month from now. So all of the time between now and then will have NO monitoring happening. We just received an email from PGE saying we're on track for a high bill this month for $845. We are drowning in electricity charges, plus paying $273 a month for panels that don't work. We're seriously considering our legal options at this point because this is absolutely ridiculous. read more

Buys beware! Stay away from SunPower if you want to keep your sanity! I signed a contract with SunPower Aug 2023, and even today (May 2024) my system has not been fully commissioned. They assigned me an escalation specialist who basically just ignored all my emails and voicemails, updates me every once in a while whenever she liked, with no tangible solution to offer to resolve the issue. They have made me call PG&E out multiple times, saying it's PG&E's problem. PG&E has nicely come out multiple times measuring the voltage issue that SunPower claimed to have, only to show each time that the voltage measurement is within the legal parameters. When I reported this to my escalation specialist, I got an email from SunPower saying that there is a re-org and I will get new contacts. After more than 8 months, and having to stay at home and miss work every time they come on site, SunPower has not reached out to me with the new contacts and I'm stuck in a limbo. I am planning to seek legal counsel now because it does not seem like SunPower cares about one customer's experience. I feel obligated to post this here so that other buyers know what they are getting themselves into before signing any contract with SunPower. read more

Our experience with Sunpower and specifically Warren Grennan was delightful. Warren was communicative and informative throughout our installation process. There was a small hiccup that caused the technician to have to come back another day but Warren was able to explain exactly what was going on in a way that was easy to understand. We like the offer sunpower has, so we thought we would sign on with them. During the installation, everything was fine. Come a few days where it rained and our house was leaking. We called them to come out and check, and they confirmed that the installation guy did not close off the hole they put in our roof. Now my house have mold, and three months down the line, they still have not done anything to fix it. On top of that, we have a baby and elderly people in the house!!!! Does anyone have suggestions on how I can get this fix so as not to jeopardize my family's health breathing in this mold?! read more

Unfortunately Sunpower has been a disappointment so far. The panels and equipment were installed 2 months ago and all the city approvals have been met. However, our system has not been working. We've contacted Sunpower countless times (since 10/24) and they keep saying we would have this issue fixed soon. It is now December and they've failed to send out a technician or resolve the issue remotely. My wife and I have been given the run around so much we are considering returning the equipment and terminating our contract. I hate to do this, but I'm going to call out one of their employees, Rob Hansen, who has failed to help resolve this issue. I'm mentioning him because when we agreed to go with Sunpower, he said he would be able to resolve issues quickly for us (Sunpower has reputation for poor to satisfactory customer service). It's a shame because we want to set up Solar Power in our home and we were sold on a comprehensive package of great panels and great customer service. I am in the early stages of the solar installation. I would've given this company a 1 star, had it not been for Efrain Vazquez (Sales Rep). I have not been able to get a hold of the project managers to get an update on when the solar panels would get installed. It's been more than 5 days, since I've updated to the project manager/company (via email and voice message) of the completion of the reroofing. I have not heard from anyone on a timeline when I would be placed into their schedule. I've emailed Nicholas St Germain multiple times before and after the reroofing, and have not heard from him. It's a shame/sham that not everyone in this company is like Efrain. I hope by posting this, I will get some attention from the company to help facilitate the communication I'm asking for - When am I getting scheduled for the solar installation? read more

This company deserves 0 stars. I have had to go through the BBB to get a resolution on things. They use sneaky snake oil salesmen to sell you on a crap product. I had in writing from the solar advisor that I could cancel my contract up until 7 days after site survey and he put this in writing via email. After I cancelled via email, they would not give me any confirmation that my contract was terminated. I have spent countless hours with customer service who tell me that they will have someone contact me "urgently" only to never hear from them. Save yourself the heartache and go with Tesla. Ok well, after a second round of phone calls I came to learn the original sales office for my system had closed down. This somehow kept me from obtaining the support I needed which I believe by policy reverts back to the original sales office. I was then able to receive remote diagnostics. They determined my monitoring electronics had failed, however the original part was deemed obsolete. An upgraded more reliable part took 3 weeks to arrive and a week later installed. The monitoring system works fine now, no charge. I suppose this yelp review didn't need to happen if SunPower support was able to directly determine I didnt have my original sales office anymore. (That sales office was not renewed as a SunPower provider). read more

Our technician, Michael Jarrett, was the best and made connecting my solar panels super easy! He was extremely polite, friendly, professional, and helpful during our appointment. He apologized for arriving a couple of minutes late, wore a face covering, and explained what he needed us to do in order to complete the installation. It is our first time owning solar panels so we had many questions. Michael, however, had no problem with answering them all and even gave me a phone number to reach if we continued to have questions regarding the system after he left. He also explained what to look out for if we experience problems with the panels in the future. The customer service for SunPower is definitely top-notch so I am not entirely sure why the rating is so low. If you plan on installing a service with SunPower, I would definitely recommend doing so! If I could give a ZERO, I would. It was installed mid September and as of today, it's still not functioning. I have made multiple calls and sent multiple emails only to continue having this issues. After attempting to speak to a supervisor who kept giggling with a coworker and brushed off my concern/issue finally agreed to have a technician come out to review if system was installed properly (mind you almost a month after it was installed and having issues from day 1). Turns out it WAS INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. Technician "fixed" it and stated the my app should be able to access my information and he isn't aware of any app issues. I am upset because this is a $30k system and I expected more from a company who claims to have a great reputation. The customer service is horrible, once your system is installed it's like you're a burden when you call, but you weren't when they wanted your business. Against my better judgment I gave Sun Power a chance but should've gone with Sun Run. AVOID Sun Power at all cost! This feels like a scam to get their commission and your money, then they're done with you. After endless emails and phone calls I'm yet to be able to access my account. Disappointing to no end. Again the project coordinator and manager of the coordinator completely ignored their responsibility to fix my issues at my home. I sent multiple emails with no response from the team and at this point I've given up. The support you get from their team before the install is sub par, after it's an absolute joke. The only reason why i got a response was because of my Yelp review. The Holes in my roof they caused that they told me they would send a contractor out to fix never occurred. The refund for my subsidized bill that was supposed to occur from their staff calling out and pushing my install back never occurred. They sent a tech over and I met Warren Grennan and he did a splendid job with quality work. He took his time to make sure everything is up and running. Followup: Ten weeks after our solar system became nonfunctional a Sunpower technician arrived at our home. During that time we spoke to half a dozen people at Sunpower as well as posting our experience on social media, but the technician who arrived at our door was unaware of the problem; his instructions said that he was simply to preform a load test. Apparently, because we are not leasing the system, there is no production guarantee and we are not a priority when our system fails. We are left to use up our credit and pay electric bills! Now we can only hope that the root cause of the problem has been corrected. read more

My wife and I moved into a new build in Escondido and needed to have our solar panels activated/connected to the grid. Anyone who's moved before knows how stressful and annoying the entire process can be, so it was incredibly refreshing that Sun Power made the entire solar activation process painless and easy. This is my first time having solar, so I had a ton of questions. Sun Power scheduled our appointment and sent out Warren to help us get set up. Warren was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and answered all of my questions to help me get a better understanding of the system. Warren made sure to cover all of the bases and explain the warranty, life of the system, operation, etc. I definitely feel as though we got some very good value going with Sun Power. DO NOT THINK ABOUT CALLING AND SIGNING WITH THIS COMPANY STAY AWAY!! Our first project coordinator was amazing she would non stop contact me and let me know what was happening. One day I get a email that TRENT will be taking over and that's when the nightmare started.. it's going to be a year that we have the system on our roof and it hasn't been turned on!! One day I lost my cool and wrote a beautiful email to Trent to let me know what was happening because my power company had sent me multiple emails wanting proof and I didn't know what was going on so ofcourse Trent didn't even bother to answer until 3days after the email was expired. Every time I ask him what is happening his answer: let me contact the team and that's it goes on for weeks with nothing until I have to email him again asking to call me asap! He's only called me once to let me know sorry your system is oversized we have to downsize. As always it's the same excuse and no moving forward. today my husband called him and finally he picked up his line because he didn't have my husbands number saved. So ofcourse first thing we did was ask for a supervisor or manager and first thing he did give me a second and hung up the phone. Called back he started making excuses oh my manager this that until he gave me a fake email to his manager and few mins later he calls my number letting me know oh this line is recorded this is my managers correct email and he will contact you today until end of the day and it's already 9pm I'm still waiting for his managers call or email.  If you have another local solar company please run or if you've signed with Sunpower and have Trent as your project manager RUN!! read more
