Our experience working with Chris and Daniel has been exceptional. We added solar to our house over three years ago. We received bids from three different companies. Sol R Us provided the best price and were able to install the system within weeks. Daniel's energy calculations have been perfect, as we can cool our home all summer with a "zero" bill from PG&E. I'd give them Zero Stars if I could. Very disappointed in Solar R Us. We have had our solar for a few years. When the solar was installed the company assured us we would be notified immediately if our solar went off line. They told us it was monitored 24 hours a day. Our solar went off line due to equipment issues (not our fault or from neglect) and we were not notified and it was only through our true up did we notice but not until we accrued $3,100 in fees. We can get no response from the company even after numerous attempts. They say they will have someone call back but no one ever does. We are now ready to seek legal action. Sol R Us review The Sol R Us team is great to work with. I had a need for a Solar System by the end of NEM2.0 deadline in Q1 2023. Working with my Sales Rep. This is my second rating for this company. It's been over 3 years since I left a 5 star review for their solar panel installation at my home. Based on a recent experience, that review hasn't changed! This past April I checked my SolarEdge app to see how my system was doing. It was sunny and my system was generating zero electricity.... Hmmmm. That's odd. I checked my history and it had stopped creating power March 16th. Looking at the inverter, the green light was flashing. I looked on the internet and that was an indication the system was online, working, but not creating electricity. I've not heard of a solar system not working. Who do I call? SolarEdge was no help as it's impossible to reach anyone. A search of solar repair services was no help either. So I called the company that installed the system, Sol R Us. Not only we're they willing to help, but they actually remembered me! They researched the issue and contacted SolarEdge directly. It took several days but Sol R Us worked the issue with SolarEdge. The result was a call to me on a Friday from Sol R Us stating SolarEdge sent a new inverter and they could install it the following Monday. I actually didn't see this as the installers problem or fault. But Sol R Us treated me like a valued client and spearheaded the resolution. My 5 star review from several years ago stands. It's been over a year since my panels were installed, but I wanted to wait until at least after my first annual true-up bill, so here it goes: I was referred to SolRus by a former co-worker. I got to see his install and learn about his experience working with Chris, Daniel and Arielle. I'm the type that really gets into the weeds before making a big purchase (I have a touch of OCD- lol); I got 6 bids and have been very happy with my decision to use SolRus. They offer a premium product at a very competitive price. Everything from the solar panels, the inverters and even the roof mounts they use (which are not all created equal) are top notch. Some companies I got bids from didn't even specify the model or brand of solar panels they were proposing (immediate red flag). I had a brand new roof installed just before getting solar, so I was really concerned about them damaging it. After the install, during last winter's heavy rains, I went into the attic a few times to check for leaks and all was good. I had Daniel oversize my system by 20% because my next car will likely be an EV and I also knew we would use more electricity than we had in the past (most people that get solar typically do). The system actually produced 609kWhrs more than what Daniel projected it would from June 2022 through May 2023, despite a very rainy/cloudy winter. I was very happy to see that on our first annual true-up bill with PG&E, they owed us $154.72! I was a net exporter for the entire year by 1,818kWhrs, which should be plenty for me when I get an EV. Daniel knows what he's doing in designing a system! If you're shopping around for solar, be weary of the guys that are aggressively selling leases and Power Purchase Agreements. They are typically a very bad deal- the worst way to get solar. You'll end up paying multiples what it will cost you to simply buy the system (even if you need to finance the purchase). The guys selling PPAs are the sleazy, used car salesmen of the solar industry. They have a slick response to any objections you may raise about leasing or PPAs, but read the fine print on those 20-25 year contracts. They are written to extract as much value/money from the consumer as they can; they favor the solar company, not the consumer. Glad that Daniel never even mentioned a lease or PPA. I'm a very happy owner of a solar system that has exceeded my expectations. With the recent rate increases and since I'm grandfathered in under NEM 2.0, I expect my payback to be just 3.5 years. =) As of this review on 9/25/23, I have referred 23 people to SolRus and all of them are happy customers. Yes, 23, which includes my brother, my partner's parents, friends and neighbors. I have no reason to believe that Chris, Daniel, Arielle and team won't continue to provide customers with a great product at a great price and an excellent overall customer experience. read more

Simply put, if you are considering solar, go with this company. I met with 5 different solar companies and Sol R Us impressed me from the start. I first met with Chris and Daniel. Daniel was my sales rep who was great to work with throughout the entire process. Daniel was always responsive (never more than 30 minutes to hear back from him) and worked hard and fast to answer my questions. I felt supported throughout the entire process. Chris was the most knowledgeable person of the all companies I met with. He was honest and straight forward in explaining the sizing of my system and the pros and cons of different panel options. Following my meeting with Chris and Daniel, I met with Eddie, who ultimately led our install too. Eddie was great. We walked through the install plan and on install day he and the team did a great job and finished installing 26 panels in about 7 hours. They even removed some old water heater panels from the previous owner of our home. Also, Sol R Us coordinated all of the inspections and even reached out to a plumber to install an automatic shut off valve for our gas (requirement by the town of Danville). The town inspector even said he's never seen that level of service from a solar company. Finally, I'm very happy with the price I paid for the system. One of the most professional and EASY companies we've worked with over the years. Chris was extremely easy to communicate with through the entire process from start to finish. Extremely satisfied. I recently had Sol R Us install a PV system on my house. I got several quotes from companies in the area, and Sol R Us was extremely competitive. I initially spoke with Chris. He is very knowledgable, and technical, which I appreciated. The reps from the other companies that we interviewed were more sales people than technicians. We have some shade issues, but Sol R Us was able to design a system that meets our needs, with two separate panel arrays on different parts of our roof. Although Sol R Us has many excellent reviews, unfortunately our experience has not been favorable. Approximately two years ago we were interested in hiring this company to install solar panels on our roof. After getting an estimate and having several conversations with Chris, we stopped hearing from him. We left multiple messages but did not get a return call and ultimately used another company to install the panels. We know that our project was fairly small, but it would have been professional to at least inform us that they would not be able to do our job. Close friends of ours recently used Sol R Us to install their solar panels and were happy with them, so we thought we would try again, as we now want to install a solar battery system. I have spoken to Daniel multiple times over the past months, and he was friendly and seemed to want to help us, especially because he was aware of our previous experience. During the last conversation we had in May, Daniel said that we would be on a list for Chris to come out to look at our system to see if they could install a battery. In mid-July I called Daniel to get an update on when the appointment might happen. I have left three messages for him in the last few weeks and have not had a return call. I also sent an email in case the calls were not getting delivered, but still have not heard anything from the company. To get ghosted twice by this company is very upsetting, when a simple call to let us know they could not help us would have been much better customer service and would have been much more satisfactory. read more

SOLRUS Engineering deserved to be acknowledged for the exceptional quality of work, excellent customer service, quick responsiveness on questions and shown positive attitude each time. I went through 7 companies and compared quotes before deciding to go with SOLRUS. There were a couple of companies that are cheaper, however the work is being subcontracted. Daniel (Sales consultant) is very pleasant to work with. He is very patient and responsive. Chris who I believe is the owner, always seem to be inspecting and ensuring the work are done properly by his team. They don't do any short cut on installation. I was able to refer 3 of my friends and they were also very happy with SOLRUS. I truly recommend SOLRUS if you are planning to install Solar. I don't often write reviews for companies. They have to be outstanding or horrible. In the case of SOL R US Electrical Engineering....OUTSTANDING....and in many different respects: Professional, Pricing, Service, Knowledge and Follow up. I have had my own business for 25 years so I understand customer service and value. I was able to check all the boxes with Sol R us! I am not writing this review immediately after my solar system was installed, in fact it is about nine months after installing a 10.23 kW system. A fairly large roof installed system. I will not gush on, but the install went extremely well! And the quality of parts (Panasonic panels and Solar Edge inverter) are some of the best on the market. After getting the final City of Walnut Creek permit we were up and going. Everything was going well and I kept an eye on the solar generation. After about 8 months I was wondering if we were going to be at zero cost (what we wanted) at the yearly 'true up". Granted I do not have the easiest house for solar panals (and one company told me that it may not be worth it) because there are large Redwood and Sycamore trees surrounding the house. Anyway, I called Chris and told him that we might be short at the 'true-up' and we set up a meeting. This is where I found out what kind of company I was dealing with. Chris showed up with a plan. He had looked over the production before he arrived and said that he thought we might be short and had calculated that we needed to add another 10 panels.....AND that would be at NO CHARGE to me. I was truly amazed! I have had many dealings with contractors over the years but had never had this happen. The panels were installed this week and I vowed that I would get the word out even more than I already had. I could go on for a couple of more pages but you get the picture. The people at Sol R Us are amazing. Quiet, professional attitude and instant responses throughout. Very "soft" selling by Daniel, amazing one-day installation by Eddy and his crew, and a "can do" attitude from the owners to the receptionists. Killer pricing, plus we were pleasantly surprised they handled *everything* from dealing with the city and PG&E, right down to removing every scrap of paper and packing. I'd never know they had been there if it weren't for the electric meter turning backwards. Highly, highly recommended! read more
