Daniel (Sales consultant) is very pleasant to work with. He is very patient and responsive. I don't often write reviews for companies. They have to be outstanding or horrible. In the case of SOL R US Electrical Engineering....OUTSTANDING....and in many different respects: Professional, Pricing, Service, Knowledge and Follow up. I have had my own business for 25 years so I understand customer service and value. I was able to check all the boxes with Sol R us! I am not writing this review immediately after my solar system was installed, in fact it is about nine months after installing a 10.23 kW system. A fairly large roof installed system. I will not gush on, but the install went extremely well! And the quality of parts (Panasonic panels and Solar Edge inverter) are some of the best on the market. After getting the final City of Walnut Creek permit we were up and going. Everything was going well and I kept an eye on the solar generation. After about 8 months I was wondering if we were going to be at zero cost (what we wanted) at the yearly 'true up". Granted I do not have the easiest house for solar panals (and one company told me that it may not be worth it) because there are large Redwood and Sycamore trees surrounding the house. Anyway, I called Chris and told him that we might be short at the 'true-up' and we set up a meeting. This is where I found out what kind of company I was dealing with. Chris showed up with a plan. He had looked over the production before he arrived and said that he thought we might be short and had calculated that we needed to add another 10 panels.....AND that would be at NO CHARGE to me. I was truly amazed! I have had many dealings with contractors over the years but had never had this happen. The panels were installed this week and I vowed that I would get the word out even more than I already had. I could go on for a couple of more pages but you get the picture. Sol U Us was an amazing, super professional company to work with. The process was so fast and easy. I noticed that my neighbors used Sol R Us and they were so expedient. The solar panels look fantastic. They put up our solar and had the city inspector inspect the work the next day. We got net metering up shortly after. Ok, this is one of those cases where I would give 6 (or 7 or more) stars if I could. Solar may be becoming somewhat of a commodity, but there is still plenty of room to impress. If you have any non-standard requirements, such as installation on a tile roof (many flat out refused to do it), a layout that would hide the panels and provide aesthetics to your liking, meticulous placement and wiring layout, you will find out that all companies are not equal. Chris, Eddie, Jeremy, and everyone else at Sol R Us are knowledgeable and entirely focused on delivering a top-notch product, at a fair price, and with the very best workmanship. SOLRUS Engineering exceeded my expectations and provided fantastic customer service throughout the whole solar panel purchasing and installation process. Their solar panel selection, equipment and other mounting hardware and is top notch, and their prices were much better than the other quotes I received. Starting with Daniel (Energy Consultant) who walked me through the whole process and helped to educate me about solar panels systems. After listening to my needs, he quoted several different systems. He was very patient with me as I asked a lot of questions, and he was always happy to answer all the questions or concerns I had. They were the only company I contacted that offered a free site inspection before signing a contract. This was great because that way there were no surprises after I signed the contract. Chris (owner) came out for the site inspection and continued to educate me about solar systems. He improved the proposed panel layout, and we added a couple more panels and upgraded to a higher wattage better looking solar panel. The installation was beautifully done, and they finished in one day. They did a fantastic job and took care of some small roofing needs not in the quote. They also did the extra finish work like painting the conduit to match the roof shingles and house wall. They took care of all the building permits, inspection as well as the PGE paperwork required to start using the solar system. This company was extremely professional from the top down. I found the owner, salesman, and installation foreman to be informative, courteous, timely, and honest in all of my dealings with them. Installation was quick, mostly done in the first day with just the startup test the following day. I had solicited three bids before contacting Sol R Us, and their bid was considerably less. Solid 5-star experience in every step of the process from initial consultation, installation, down to final inspection. Consultation was done over the phone. Daniel was genuine, patient, and gave me as much time as I needed to ask all of my questions and address my concerns. The conversation was incredibly easy, pleasant, and informative. No pressure whatsoever. Daniel gave me the space to tell them what I want to get accomplished. By the end of the conversation, we came up with a plan that I was super pleased with and the quote was very competitive. I decided right then to go forward drafting a contract. It took about a month for the contract to arrive. Everything in the contract matched what we had previously discussed, which made signing it a breeze. After about a week, Chris, the owner, came for a site inspection to make sure the roof is in good condition and that the plan can be executed smoothly. Chris was knowledgeable and super chilled. Installation took place a month after. On the day of the installation, a team of 5-7 members arrived promptly. Everyone was wearing masks and practicing social distancing. I was most impressed with the coordination among the team members. The installation took only about four hours from start to finish. Eddie offered to paint the conduit to match the exterior wall. Once the system is installed, Daniel stopped by to inspect the work and to check if I had any questions. They had to complete the sub panel upgrade the following day, which was completely ok by me, given how busy they were toward the end of the year. Colby, the electrician, who did our sub panel upgrade was meticulous, patient, and thorough. He even came the day before to look over our system. During the upgrade, he found an existing wiring that was not up to code and just took care of it. Chris, the owner, stopped by to finalize and inspect everything. On the day of the inspection, the team showed up promptly again, look over everything once more to make sure inspection would go smoothly. The actual inspection took less than five minutes and the system passed the inspection. From that point on, Daniel facilitated the net metering application with the power company, the process of which took about three weeks. I have the system up running for about two weeks now and we have had some rain during this time, no roof issues so far, which was one of my major concerns at first. I decided to go with Sol-R-Us and I could not be happier with this decision. Everyone on the team was professional, respectful, and just amazing. The California Solar Consumer Protection Guide recommends getting at least three bids. I highly recommend Sol-R-Us to be included in one of your three. read more

We had solar panels installed a few weeks ago and we couldn't be happier with sol r us. I did a lot of research and had 3 companies come out for a bid. Jeremy was my contact at Sol r us and was very low pressure and informative. He told me questions to ask when looking at other companies to help me compare apples to apples. They let us pick our panels and our inverter but they gave objective recommendations which were very helpful. We were initially attracted to a different solar company (Sunpower) bc of the panels and the strength behind its name/warranty but in the end their bid (for less panels) was 30% higher and would only produce 70% the power of the Panasonic's that Sol R Us put on our house. Then, right after Trump declared an intent to tariff foreign solar panels 30% we received a call from SunPower stating they had to raise our bid by 25%. They said it was due to us having a clay tile roof, although they had been to our house twice and we had specifically talked about our tile roof because I thought that could be a hang up (plus in the initial bid Sunpower sent pictures of our tile roof with images of how it would look with solar panels). I contacted Jeremey at Sol R Us to see if prices would change in the near future and he was great. He said there would be no change in pricing until they were affected by it when purchasing their panels. Sol R us had multiple types of panels on hand and gave us multiple quotes depending on which panels we went with. Their price point was by far the best of the 3 companies we got bids from. We ended up going with Panasonic panels and a SolarEdge inverter after I did a lot of research (which exactly matched the recommendations of sol r us). Sol r us set up monitoring and gave us a 20 year warranty on all including the roof. The company owner Chris was on site for both days of the install and was a very honest and hardworking guy. His team was great as well. They even replaced about 15-20 of our broken tiles for free. And they applied sealant to several places where the roof peaks were looking a little vulnerable. Sol r us had initially prepared us that it would take about 2 months from agreeing to contract and having panels running and on the grid. It turned out to be less than 1 month. We have been incredibly happy with our decision to go with Sol R Us. Chris and Jeremy are amazing, honest, and very knowledgeable. It's mid March (pretty cloudy/rainy recently) and we are already producing about 85% of our average daily usage. I can't wait to see what our production is like in the summer. After about one year of thinking and researching to install solar on my home I decided on three solar companies for bids. From day one the sales pressure was on. One sales rep came to my home three times. And with each visit there was a different sales offers always lower and supposedly better than the last offer. The "Sol R Us Electrical Engineering" team of Chris and Eddie exceeded my expectations on all phases of my solar system buying experience. Chris worked with me to develop a cost-effective rooftop solar system that would optimize the production of 18 solar modules on the available roof space and meet 90% of my electrical needs.
