Working with Ambrose to get my solar installed was a great process. They were responsive to questions and contact and when we had appointments they arrived on time or early. The on the ground workers were professional, friendly, and finished the work in a timely manner. They also helped me with communication with PGE to get the panel upgrade and even to lay conduit for a power upgrade. I was recommended them and I would recommend them to others in need of solar. read more

So far so good anytime I had any questions I called them and they were very good at assisting and clearing up any issues with me.

I have to honestly say we are super impressed with this company. We were recommended by a co-worker of my husband. Going local made so much more sense, if something goes wrong, there's no need to wait weeks to get it fixed. Someone will come and repair anything in a couple days. The larger companies can't make that happen. We decided to go with the larger install and added a battery to get that added protection and savings, and I'm so happy we did. Hermelinda was our main contact in customer support and she was always on top of it, along with Janai, Bri, and Stephanie, if Hermelinda was out of the office. Alll the technicians were very professional, they didn't mind me asking questions and were very excited and love what they do. I highly recommend them. read more

My project is now finished and it's been about 6 months turned on and functioning- I'm still so glad that I did this with Ambrose Solar. Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. The culture of deeply valuing customer service that they have built is unmatched by many businesses these days. I am SO pleased, and SO impressed, and I can promise that you will be too! read more

Ambrose was great from start to finish. Would recommend for anybody wanting to quit paying pg&e.

We were having electrical issues with an outlet in our kitchen, and Nolan and Nancy came out same day, diagnosed the problem quickly and efficiently, and explained everything clearly. Finally, they made sure the outlet was safe from further trouble in the future. Great team, friendly and knowledgeable- couldn't recommend Ambrose more! Kelly Hess read more

I couldn't be happier with my experience with Paul Karst and Ambrose Solar. From the very beginning, Paul Karst and their team was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to helping me find the best solar solution for my home. The solar panels are tip-notch, efficient, reliable, and clearly built to last. What really sets Ambrose Solar apart, thought, is their customer service. Every question I had was answered promptly and throughly, and the installation process was smooth and stress-free. The crew was punctual, respectful, and left everything clean and tidy. I was so happy with Ambrose Solar, I went back to Paul Karst and Ambrose Solar again when I decided to add more solar panels to my existing ones. If you are considering going solar, I highly recommend Paul Karst and Ambrose Solar because they deliver great products, excellent service, and real peace of mind. read more

My rooftop solar system stopped working after a squirrel chewed through the wiring. The company that originally installed the system was not interested in making the repairs. I contacted Ambrose Solar. Arnolfo arrived at the stated time and had the system up and running in about an hour. The repair cost was very reasonable. I am highly impressed with the service I received from Ambrose Solar and I recommend them without hesitation. read more

Our experience working with Ambrose had nothing but great. We have enough roadblocks in our install from permitting to design but Ambrose team was diligent, persistent and highly communicative. The messaging service that Ambrose uses has kept us apprised of all the updates. Even post install- Ambrose has been answering our questions about usage in detail and are fully supportive. I recommend Ambrose to anyone looking for a midsize solar company to do the work for you. read more

We worked with Paul Karst to get our solar system in before 2026, and the quality of service is unmatched! Ian and Pamela and the entire Ambrose team are the very best with customer service and their quality is outstanding. we had a roof leak and my wife posted it on Facebook, so Ian saw the post and wanted to make sure it wasn't an issue with their solar panel installation from years before. they dispatched two men to look at it and diagnosed that it was not their problem. I would totally recommend these folks for all of your solar needs and they are also competitively priced also. Cesar Mendes-grateful customer read more

Worked with Paul and the team to install solar panels on our recently purchased home back in 2020. After doing a lot of research, I knew I was getting a good product (SunPower panels), with reasonable financing options, and the work would be done by a reputable company in Ambrose Solar. Almost 5 years in, I have no complaints. We produce more power than we consume, with room for new electric vehicle or hot tub if we wanted. They also have a nice referral program if you know anyone in need of solar. read more

I have waited to post this review but this company has charged us twice for the installation of an inverter box. They have not accepted any responsibility in the damage and cost that we have incurred during this process. We were one of there first customers, we believe in supporting local businesses but I have second thoughts now on the way we have been treated by this company. I now have roof leaks as well do to there installation of solar panels. Beware!!! read more

Absolutely thrilled with my solar system from Ambrose - 4 years later and still going strong! From start to finish, the installation process was seamless. Planning, permits, inspection, and PTO all went off without a hitch - no surprises, no delays. The team at Ambrose was professional, communicative, and clearly knew what they were doing. Four years in, I'm still seeing the benefits. My system was sized perfectly, and I actually end up with a small annual true-up credit. Even better, I've been completely insulated from PG&E's constant rate hikes - my energy costs are stable and predictable. One of the best decisions I made was including a battery. I live in an area heavily impacted by PG&E's Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings (EPSS), which has already triggered nine power outages this year alone. Thanks to the battery backup, I barely notice. My lights stay on, my fridge keeps running, and I've even been able to share my Wi-Fi with a neighbor so they can keep working during blackouts. Neighbors constantly ask how I'm managing to stay powered through these outages, and I always point them to Ambrose. I genuinely can't say enough good things about the system or the company. If you're considering solar, this is the team to go with. One of the best home decisions I've ever made. read more

Their employee flipped me off and said "f*** you" while trespassing on my property. Employees of Ambrose Solar had their work truck parked in my private driveway blocking access. I had clear no trespassing signs posted. They stayed there for 20 minutes. My mother came over and could not access my property because they were blocking my driveway. I waved at them to leave and the employee in the passenger seat rolled down his window, flipped me off, and said "f*** you". I called the company and spoke with someone. They said a manager would follow-up. They didn't. read more

Ambrose Solar is BBB accredited with an A+, has excellent Google and Yelp reviews and is located close to our home. I also learnt that the company is not using subcontractors. The panels used as well as the battery were of high quality with a long warranty. From beginning to the end all was transparent and well organized. I was informed about every step and got exact information, if something like dealing with the electric company for example was not so clear. The whole installation was done in a very timely manner leaving a clean place. At the end we were well informed about the system and how to use the solar app to get most out of it and save money. We were also assured that we can count on the company in case of any questions or problems. There will be automatically a follow up after half a year. read more

First of all I'd like to say that Ambrose is extremely professional. They met and exceeded all of our expectations and have given us the freedom to be able to put money towards vacations instead of PG&E. The most important thing I'd like to say is I'd like to acknowledge Kelsey, one of their salesman. Personable, extremely knowledgeable on solar and knows how to fit the needs of the individual to the solar that they provide you. From the first moment we met him we felt so relaxed and comfortable discussing our needs and the timing of the project. Anytime we had a question Kelsey took care of it. And when he couldn't, he got us in touch with those who had our answers. If I had not met Kelsey through request for installing a solar system on our home and I met him somewhere on the street I can guarantee I would want him as a friend. From what I hear it's not too late to install solar on your home. If you choose to take that step do not hesitate to call Ambrose and request Kelsey as your tour guide. You will thank me later. Got an appointment very quickly and resolved issues. They were very professional in their work.

My husband and I dug in our heels FOREVER, when it came to getting solar. There were all kinds of salespeople who came to our home on a monthly basis, and we just never had a real peace about being able to trust what we were being " sold", or told. My parents purchased solar from a HORRIBLE company that sounds a lot like 'SunFun'. After they passed away, and the house was sold...we were STILL making the monthly payments for over a year!!! That SunFun organization REFUSED to transfer the solar to the new homeowner, and eventually stopped taking or acknowledging our calls. It wasn't until we had to threaten the new homeowner with a lawsuit that SunFun finally transferred ownership. Due to this, we could not trust any of these solar companies...that is, until Kevin Bedard came to our home, and explained everything in great detail to my husband and I. He took the time to hear about our concerns, and he showed us how he truly cared. That same week, we spoke to two other families who shared their positive experiences about Ambrose Solar that made us feel that we would be in great hands. We had FINALLY FOUND A PEACE about getting solar on our home; KNOWING we would be in good hands, and we were ALL IN. It's been six months now, and we are beyond pleased with our solar panels, and the two Tesla batteries we have purchased. We are true fans, who have NOTHING but RAVE REVIEWS for this company. If you don't have solar, or if you need to add solar, Kevin Bedard is your man! and Ambrose is your company. Every employee has been amazing and helpful. In a world where customer service has taken a dump, this company has remained a class act. So again...if you are considering solar, call Ambrose, and tell them Albert and Rhonda sent you. read more

I am very impressed of the service of the company. The installation service was seamless. Ambrose sales Tory Kelly found the best package for me, shared very clearly regarding the warranty so we have peace in mind. The customer service is also great, Stephanie Reiser helped me on the SGIP credit from PGE. It is a lengthy process (about a year) from a change in government requirement that PGE did not met in the beginning. Stephanie was very patient and helped me throughout the process. I highly recommend Ambrose solar to anyone wants to upgrade their home with solar and battery. read more

About 1 year ago, after carefully considering several solar systems companies, my wife and I chose Ambrose Solar. From beginning to end, their sales representatives, technical crew, installers, and after installation / rebate staff were truly outstanding. Ambrose Solar's team was very professional, knowledgeable and responsive to our questions/needs; Kelsey Commerford (sales) and Staphanie Reiser (utility coordinator) were particularly helpful in recommending the right system for us and ensuring that our rebates were properly filed and reimbursed. The high-quality products that they recommended and installed (20 x REC Solar Panels and 1 x Powerwall 3 Tesla battery) have been reliable, came with a 10-year warranty, and have already made a big positive difference with our monthly PG&E electric bill, especially during the long and sunny days of summer. We highly recommend Ambrose Solar! read more

Honest review: we put Ambrose through it. Main panel relocation, construction work before a single panel could go up, and a mid-project switch from Tesla to Enphase. The project took way longer than anyone wanted (my fault), but they stayed on top of the project, worked through every complication with us, and helped us land on ideal solutions. Today we've got a system that runs great and we're barely drawing from the grid. If you've got a straightforward install, great. Ambrose can handle it. But if yours is messy like ours was, they can handle it, too. read more

Ambrose Solar...the company so nice I used them twice! I did my primary solar install in 2021. After speaking to four companies, Ambrose presented the strongest options for my household and they went above and beyond. My original install required a replacement for my electrical panel. Even though this was an extra step with an additional sub-contractor, it was no sweat for the Ambrose team. Everything moved like clockwork, communication was relevant and proactive, and everything was delivered as promised. Round two: I put an addition on my house and needed to add on some panels. I had the pleasure of working with Tory from the Ambrose team who very clearly explained my options, identifying what was the most favorable one. Once I gave the greenlight, things were on track and communication was, again, top notch and on point. I highly recommend Ambrose for anyone looking to install solar on their house. read more

Since I posted my review, Ambrose has reached out to not only apologize but own the mix up. As I said originally, I didn't fault the rep, I just had a rough experience via miscommunication. Without any pressure they have asked if they could address my concerns and asked if they could possibly make it right. I do believe they care and have owned up to any mistakes and miscommunication. I will update further as we discuss more. read more

This solar team was easy to work with and open to what I needed vs what others tell you what you need. Then when install happens and PTO, very easy and smooth process. Great service whenever you need something as well. Overall one of the best to work with in the area. I asked about expanding my existing system. I asked on what I wanted. They made it work with a very easy and affordable price. If I look to expand a little more, I'm coming back. I'd recommended, for sure. read more

From beginning to end, our experience with Ambrose Solar was outstanding. Paul, our sales guy, was really helpful to us as we tried to navigate and anticipate the future electricity needs we would have (heat pump furnace, EV) vis a vie our current usage history and limited roof sun. As he commented, we wouldn't regret putting up more panels, especially as our summer temps get warmer with each passing year. (We wish we'd been able to add more, but the cost vs. the solar production didn't make sense with our limited sun situation.) From there, the installation team was awesome. Lots of communication and updates along the way and the work was done timely and without delays. They even painted the metal housing of the wires so everything blends in with the house wall and looks great. Permitting, hook-up, etc. all went perfectly. I always highly recommend Ambrose to anyone who asks! read more

I have a solar system already, and was looking at the viability of adding to my system, or adding a battery. I connected with a firm on-line who put me in touch with Ambrose. I was prepared for a hard-sell, since the firm is in the business of selling solar systems. I spoke with Paul and my anxiety was allayed immediately. He was practical, well-informed, and did his research into my particular situation. He said that adding panels could yield some benefit, but given my current energy use it would take a millennia to recover the costs, and it may have the unintended consequence of knocking me out of PG&E's NEM I that I was grandfathered into having purchased the original system 10 years ago. This sort of candor was completely unexpected and very refreshing. If I were to get an EV car or increase my electricity usage, I would call up Paul with complete confidence that I'd be given the straight story on what I should do. I'm very impressed. read more

Ambrose Solar broke ground on our property 12/30 or 31/2024. Here we are in June 2025 WITH NO SOLAR powered electricity. Our panels are up, batteries installed, panel box installed-for months now. We have a huge trench left in our backyard from them, and we have 4 children, causing a serious hazard. They have been dragging their feet for almost half a year now. Even today one of their sales-men was trying to gaslight my husband. Almost at the point of telling them to come get their equipment and give us a full refund. This is ridiculous and the financial damages my family has accrued is astronomical. 10/10 do NOT recommend. read more

Flawless experience getting a Tesla Powerwall 3. After having so many issues with another project, I was so grateful for such a smooth process. Started off with Jon who clearly outlined the pros and cons of different options by leveraging my complex usage data and future changes. After that, got just the right amount of communication from the project manager Casey on all the steps through completion. Honestly, I was totally disengaged because I was super busy but it didn't matter because ambrose had it covered. This is what good customer service is suppose to be. Don't look further, go with Ambrose. read more

Everything prior to the contract being signed was excellent, then once it was signed we hit some turbulence. Long delays, project manager used pre-written replies to tell you there was no update... After 3 months of no activity, we finally had an install date. The install was excellent, no complaints there. Pros: Great install In-house crew Cons: Communication was lacking Radio silent treatment once contract signed The whole process went from Feb - August, so make sure you bring your patience if you work with Ambrose. read more

Now sunstrong is charging for the app to see your own panel data. Seems like sunpower sold data access to sunstrong and now they are making you pay for your solar panel data. So apparently Ambrose employs people who go door to door and don't care about multiple no soliciting signs on the house and front door. Then, when I say "no thank you" as soon as they start trying to selling me on their product (after they ignored all the signs) the guy just stares at me trying to intimidate me because he is so upset I shut him down. Sorry, I'm not going to feel threatened on my own property because your predatory door to door guys don't know how to read or take no for an answer. Scary people. read more

The staff are very knowledgeable and very customer oriented. If anyone needs solar installed Ambrose is probably the best you'll find in the area. Great. We used them 3 years ago and have had no problems. I recommend them to everyone who is looking to getting solar panels

I was referred to Ambrose Solar by a friend so I called and talked to Kevin and he spent a few hours going through the design. He was very patient with me trying to decide how big the system needed to be. I had a great installation crew that was at my house for two days, they were professional and very cordial. I had a nice surprise because I was assisted by Stephanie Reiser to submit an application for a SGIP Rebate from PG&E and rewarded with a check to cover part of the battery cost. I would highly recommend Ambrose Solar, they care enough to do a good job and are a local company. read more

Ambrose just finished a 21 panel, 8.7 kW system and I am very happy with the job that was done. First step was a breeze. Carlos gave me the rundown in an easy to understand and friendly manner. I was ready to go after that initial meeting. Once the initial survey was done it was found that my current panel was very outdated and overloaded which was expected. I had a city inspector present coincidentally at the same time for an EV Charger install who commented on this as well. Carlos went over the options and new estimates and again this was easy to understand and the process to change project requirements was simple. The next step took some time to get going because of the paperwork, processing and pge, but once everything was in order the pieces started moving with the first piece being a sub panel. Those guys were great and in a house built in the 1950s there was a lot of wiring going in different directions, but they did a great job getting everything into the new sub panel and their install was very clean. The next step was a Main panel replacement the next week. This step went smoothly as well. The main panel was changed out, stucco was replaced and color matched to the best of their ability, inspected and we moved onto the last step, solar panels & monitoring system. The solar panel install had some hiccups, but overall I am now satisfied with this last step as well. The panels were installed, monitoring system installed, everything was tested and works and then inspected and passed. We did have some issue with some of the finer details being completed to our liking such as drywall repair/paint, dirty solar panels, and worker cleanup. However, I want to note that once I made these concerns known Pamela apologized and sent another crew out to fix these issues. I am very impressed that they acted quickly and rectified these concerns without any complaint and I felt at all times my satisfaction was their number 1 concern. The last crew they sent made sure to go over everything with a fine tooth comb and I am happy with the results. The solar system passed the final inspection without issue and we are now waiting for PGE to give us the green light. Overall, I would recommend this company to anyone looking to add solar to their home because although we had some hiccups at the end, Ambrose made it right and made sure we as the customer were their priority at all times. If I had to pick just one thing to point out it would be the communication. Each crew introduced themselves well, walked us through what they were doing, and through what the next steps would be. Out project coordinator Daryn was easy to communicate with and guided us through the whole process. Carlos got everything going initially and answered all my questions with informed answers. read more
