New favorite brunch spot that's for sure. My cousin and I were browsing Yelp and came across Sunny's. We wanted to try a different brunch spot than our usual places. I looked at the menu and it had me sold. We walked in and it's pretty small. So I bet it gets really busy on the weekends. We were seated. I started off with the soy chai and my friend had the berries and cherries smoothie. OMG! Talk about amazing. Her smoothie was nice and thick and delicious. I got the Sunny's version of the eggs benedict with grilled cheese with sunny side up eggs and my friend had the Good Night which had chorizo, avocado, eggs sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwich. Both of them were amazing. The potatoes were seasoned to perfection. And seriously I love grilled cheese sandwiches and I would never have thought to put a sunny side egg on top. Seriously, AMAZING! I will be back. It's too good not to return. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

This is a COVID-era review and Sunny's has been a great take out option for us during this pandemic. We are new parents, so we're up early even on the weekend and when so many restaurants operate on brunch hours and don't open until 9 or 10 AM, Sunny's is a lifesaver. Our orders are already ready so quick and the food is reliably good. My husband always goes for the huevos and the bomber is my go to, but I recently tried the skillet and man was it cheesy carby greatness! Those potatoes are perfectly cooked and seasoned. I was shocked to see that despite many visits to Sunny's over the last nearly two years, I had not yet posted a review for this place. It is hands down my favorite place to get brunch in Denver. The other reviews are right: there is often a bit of a wait here. I take that as a good sign, typically -- people love the food here! We've found that if you show up a little bit earlier (on the early side of ~8:30AM), you can normally get in without much of a wait. So, why is this place my favorite? For starters, the food here is creative and delicious. On top of that, it's great portions. I've been here enough times that I've tried many things on the menu at this point. My favorite and go-to now is the Delish: buttermilk mini-cakes, sausage patties, American cheese, hollandaise, pure maple syrup drizzle. It is an AMAZING mix of savory and sweet and always leaves me with a little bit of leftovers to take home. While I've heard great things about their house-made sausage, I don't eat meat. Fortunately, they offer veggie sausage patties for substitution (I really love places that do this). The service here is good -- a lot of folks who have worked here a while, which to me suggests a well-run business. Sunny's is a great little neighborhood place for a quality breakfast! They are pretty small, so you are probably in for a wait, but they move people through pretty quickly. I came here with my sister a few weeks ago, and we split the "Goodnight" sandwich and the Jaswells waffle. The sandwich is made with housemade chorizo held between two grilled cheese sandwiches. It's hard to go wrong there. The waffle was sooo good, with spiced apples and a bacon crumble on top. The portions are so generous that we split and still took home leftovers. The staff was great, and we were joking around with them the whole time. They have a wide variety of menu choices, including a few healthier options. I lurve it here. Very small, local joint off 44th with a great menu and (for the most part) kind staff. The reason this review is a four is actually because of mostly nice staff -- the very sour girl who couldn't fathom " first come, first serve" accounts for the one star deduction. Came in at ten til eleven this past Saturday. Arrived earlier than the rest of my group (only 3 people total) and was informed all members had to be present to be sat. Totally fine, been there, done that. However, this particular gal who wanted to continue to seat groups who arrived after us (three additional groups in total)/ once our group was complete was not going to fly with me, given that it was now 11:15. She very visibly rolled her eyes at me and my group while profusely apologizing to groups who had just entered and could not be sat given that I was being prioritized and I arrived over 20 minutes prior. This is honestly just rude....you do not bad mouth your own " first come, first serve" seating policy in front of a group you have chosen to ignore and seat new comers after a 20 minute wait. I am actually pretty certain I have seen this particular server at other restaurants near by. Luckily, the rest of the staff was willing to adhere to their own policy, move tables around and seat us in the order in which we arrived. May sound not picky but for me, customer care is just as much part of the experience as the actual food itself. read more

Stopped in for Saturday morning brunch with pals who are new to the neighborhood. They told us there'd be about a twenty minute wait, so we strolled around the neighborhood and popped into a few stores (tip: Sub Rosa next door and Cheese+Provisions down the block are two total gems). We made our way back to check on the wait and a manager told us that we hadn't needed to wait at all, because tables had been available. I'm not quite sure why she felt the need to mention that after we'd already waited, but it wasn't a biggie and we found a semi-shaded spot on the sidewalk/patio so the dog could join us. Sunny's serves typical diner fare with a few fun + healthy options (acai bowls, a "hipster" english muffin, etc). We had multiple servers who were friendly, attentive, and brought my friend's dog multiple rounds of bacon. The three of us ordered two of the huevos rancheros and one of the weekend special scrambles and the dishes came out pretty quickly. I really enjoyed my huevos--served Christmas-style with avocado and crispy potatoes, this was totally weekend comfort food. The one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that my chair broke right after the meal--it was a metal chair with a leg that had rusted through and eventually just broke while I was sitting in it. The staff seemed more concerned with the chair than with me and never apologized or asked if I was okay. It was an awkward situation and by no means ruined the meal, but was still a little weird. All in all I'd consider Sunny's a solid diner situation and would come back if I find myself in the 'hood! read more

This was my second visit to Sunny's and my only complaint is that we got seated at an interesting 2-too table so close to the kitchen it felt like I was sitting across from the chef. My girlfriend and I came here seeking an egg based meal with no meat. The Hipster was our answer. It's a Benedict with classic hollandaise but some key differences--Boursin cheese (creamy soft white cheese with herbs), a veggies sausage patty, tomato and avocado. It quite possibly could be the tastiest Benedict in the highlands. One easily overlooked detail, their skilled chef poached our eggs with our yolks perfectly cooked medium, just slightly runny with most of the yolk hard. Our party of 5 was estimated a 30 minute wait and it was actually 40-45, but we knew that going in and relaxed outside with our snippy coffee ;) After our long wait, we were all starving, so I recommended starting with a waffle as an appetizer to share -- we chowed on the "Nutty" -- nutella and banana compote awesomeness -- delicious! I'm not joking. Whenever we walk past, my two-year-old says, "Go inside!" It might be her favorite place in the world, besides maybe her grandma's apple tree. Bummer that there are zombies -- or covid-19 or whatever -- everywhere, and she can't go in right now. Anyway: Sunny's delivers breakfast burritos three days a week during the covid-19 craziness! ($2.75) "Hipster" (vegetarian eggs Benedict) was cooked perfectly and nice presentation on dish. The Hollandaise sauce was decent although a bit too strong. Potatoes were a bit old which I'm guessing is due to my coming in at 10ish so after the breakfast crowds. ($10.50) Orange juice was excellent (small $2.50) Clean restaurant. I'll start on a bad note and end on a high one. When I walked into the restaurant, I was told there's a wait of about 15-20 mins for any party of 2. Immediately, they told me to feel free to enjoy some coffee that was at the front desk. They made it seem like it was complimentary. Thus, I excitedly had a cup. Little did I know that I'd be charged $2.75 on my bill. When I made my complaint known to my waiter, I was told that it's not complimentary and that the coffee was "organic" so it "needs to be paid for." I was under the assumption that the coffee was complimentary to customers waiting to be seated just like how it is at Snooze. This experience as quite frustrating because I wouldn't have drank the mediocre coffee if I had known I'd be charged almost $3 for it. Food wise, my friend and I were impressed. I ordered the "Good Night" and he ordered pancakes with cookie dough inside. I have to say that although the "Good Night" was good, it is very very cheesy and heavy. My friend kindly allowed me to try a bit of his pancake and I have to say the pancakes are really good. Very fluffy and well made. Going just off food, I'd give this place 5 stars and right up there with Snooze as the best brunch in Denver but my experience w the coffee was very displeasing and caught me off guard. read more

Pleasantly surprised one Saturday morning by the lack of a wait at Sunny's. I think the key is to get here on the later side, but not too late ( wouldn't want to be THAT guy). We just had two people and both of us struggled to choose a meal; there are so many great options. I've included the menu so you can see for your self. Coincidentally, we both chose the same thing, the Fields waffle. It was nothing short of amazing. If you have a sweet tooth but want to pretend you're healthy by throwing some fruit on your meal- this is for you. We also ordered some fresh OJ which was a perfect addition to an already great meal. I left feeling a bit nauseous because I couldn't let any go to waste. The service here was pretty good but I did feel a little squished in next to other tables when they were occupied. Auuuhhhhh-maaaazzzzinnnggg!! Thats as simple as I could put it. Came for a weekend getaway with a girlfriend of mine and we definitely both like to eat. I found this place (thanks to Yelp) and based off what I read I was already in. Small and cute. I like places that don't have a wait and a ton of people with all that noise in the background. We were able to enjoy our breakfast with no wait and in peace. Which was great for our first place out to eat in Denver. Now, to the real deal, I chose the Plainfield pike which was to freakin die for. I was in heaven. Just looking at the picture reminds me of how delicious it was and how bad I want it again. My friend had the "goodnight" and baby when I say the name suites it lol. She definitely wanted to go night night after eating that huge/delicious sandwich. Okay, so we all know that brunch is the best meal of the day (don't argue with me). Furthermore, we all know that there are great brunch places in Colorado. Seriously, this state is breakfast obsessed. So, I am not going to tell you that Sunny's is the best breakfast you will find in Colorado. Although, in all honesty, I am convinced that it is. So to the real point... Sunny's has the best breakfast in Colorado (oops, I guess I lied before). The staff here are just amazing. The energy is on point. And the hipster benedict is the best gift to breakfast the universe could have come up with. We only found this place a couple of months ago (so much lost time!) but we have already been here a ton and have brought almost everyone we know. After the first couple times, the friendly staff already knew us and greeted us with jokes and smiles. Even better though, if you watch them greet guests, you will notice they treat everyone this way (new or not). Major plus, as I am quite over the trendy stuckup attitude of restaurants these days. This place feels like a cozy home kitchen with food from your best friends or your amazing grandma who can cook anything and make it the best. We originally ventured to Sunny's specifically for the Hipster benedict. It is their classic version of the benedict with a fun twist. Let me describe this to you (you better sit down): english muffin, herb boursin cheese, tomato, vegetarian sausage, sunny-side-up egg, hollandaise, avocado. Aren't you happy I told you to sit down?! As a vegetarian I am all too accustomed to the tomato, avocado, egg benedict. And there are a lot of amazing versions of that out there. But every now and then (or all the time) you need something different. Something that thrills your taste buds. This is it folks. This is it. Okay, now that my excitement has been expressed, here are a few other points that are very much overshadowed by the points above.    - I am not the biggest fan of the potatoes here. Sometimes they are good, others a little too crispy or not quite flavorful enough. Solution: bury them in hot sauce or hollandaise. - The chai is not super chai-like. Good breakfast, but a shady business operation. At the table, we were advised about the menu on the QR code. Some of us were Seniors and asked for the printed menus. When we asked for the bill, we noticed that the prices were almost doubled from what we saw. The waitress claimed she told us that the prices were "different" than the printed menu. Non of the 5 of us heard her say that!! When we checked the prices on the QR code menu, we realized that we were charged HIGHER amounts than on the QR menu, too. We asked to speak to the manager and he, too, said that the prices on the QR menu are not updated. We were shocked, and made it clear to him. However, he didn't really seem to care, insisting that the sign on the door informed guests of the "different" prices. We checked the sign on the door and saw that it was written with a marker on a small notebook page, which was hardly noticeable. It seemed like the staff and manager intentionally misled customers, and didn't really care about ripping off visitors. Although the food was great, we would never recommend supporting such deceitful practices. read more

We enjoyed the Big Breakfast: waffle, two eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes (see photo). Organic maple syrup is sooo good. The menu has something for everyone: sandwiches such as grilled cheese to the Acai Bowl or Granola Parfait. Lots of organic choices. The waitstaff is always on the run bringing everyone great service. And your dining check comes attached to a vintage postcard to keep it from getting misplaced -- it's something unexpected. For instance, I typically am not a huge fan of ordering eggs benny due to the typical small portion size, but the benny at Sunny's was giant. Will literally stuff up any big eater easy. This is our local breakfast spot, couldn't wait to try it out. The staff are friendly, coffee strong and tasty. My problem? The food is dishonest. Are you a greasy spoon or a fancy brunch spot? Had the cornbeef hash and eggs. I swear they put 2 ounces of corned beef in this dish. It was one big plate of potatoes with a side of... potatoes. I'm sorry, the menu screams of profiteering. This was my first time at Sunny's. The atmosphere is relaxed, although the staff was constantly busy. Despite the place being nearly packed and the staff working non-stop, the staff was very friendly, with fast service. We got the roasted veggie latkes, with a side of veggie sausages. We also got the mangia, which I then added a pancake to. The roasted veggie latkes were delicious. The mangia was also fantastic. At first I thought it wouldnt be enough food, so I ordered a pancake. By the time I was done with the magia, I was more than content although not stuffed. While I didnt need the pancake, I'm glad I got it. It was fantastic. Even without add ons, it was delicious. In fact, I didnt even use the syrup. For me, a good pancake shouldnt need syrup and this certainly qualified as a fantastic pancake. The only draw backs were the veggie sausages and the coffee. The veggie sausage wasnt bad but it wasnt anything special. At $3.50 it seemed over price. They were small and had the taste and look of a generic veggie sausage, such as morning star. The coffee was nothing special. Although I do appreciate that they used a local roaster, the coffee seemed a bit bitter. Perhaps it was a bad pot, brewed for a long time, and/or was made in advance and being kept warn for longer than it should have been. I had a coffee craving so I still had two cups, although normally I would of had three to four cups. Despite the veggie sausages being small and over priced, and despite the coffee not being up to par, I would still go back. I would try a new dish or two, not because the latkes and mangia were bad but because they have me curious about how great the other dishes must be. I ordered the big breakfast with chocolate milk, and I can honestly say that their sausage is probably the best I've ever had! Their potatoes come with paprika on them, the bacon is nice and crispy, eggs were perfect, and the waffle was massive! The food at Sunny's is absolutely delicious. There are a myriad of menu items to suit the dietary preferences/ taste buds of practically everyone. However the service SUCKED. I don't consider myself to be a particularly bitter/vindictive person, but I have some strong feelings toward Sunny's waitstaff. It took forever to seat us (which I completely understand on a busy day.) However, when we finally were shown to our table, the black haired waitress was annoyed and frazzled. 3 minutes after we had sat down, another equally as frenzied middle aged blonde waitress came to take our order and was rushing us to choose our food. The black haired waitress came back around refilling coffee when we were waiting for our food. When I asked for more milk, she walked away. Assuming she didn't hear, I mumbled- "okay, yeah fine" underneath my breath. This woman turns back around, walks back to our table, and says: "yeah, I heard you. Be with you when I have the time" Then she doesn't come back the entire time we're dining and glares at is from across the restaurant. read more
