Tasty, fresh ingredients, large portions, prices in-line with competitors, etc. My favorite is the Tofu Teriyaki, with fried tofu + white rice with teriyaki sauce plus a side salad with the typical horseradish dressing. A lot of teriyaki places don't do tofu teriyaki, or decide to randomly add veggies sometimes, but not here. More suited for takeout with ordering at the counter, but there are plenty of tables if you wanted to dine in. read more

I tried this place recently and really liked it a lot! I've even returned once more! The place is set up very nicely, no cheap tables and chairs here, no! Everything is nicely done up and the ambience appears to be of better quality than most teriyaki places. Additionally, the food was not only extremely tasty, but also well presented. And the service was VERY quick! Nice when you come in on your lunch and don't have to worry about getting back in time, with no apparent compromise in quality. I got the chicken teriyaki with Gyoza, and I really loved the Gyoza dipping sauce, one of the best I've tried, nice punch of ginger that really brightens up the gyoza. Only small negative was the salad. I don't think there is any dressing on there at all, and my only suggestion is to add a light dressing to make that a little more tasty! Three stars = A-OK. And that's what this is. An A-OK teriyaki joint. The space is HUGE for a teriyaki place. It's nicely decorated and clean. A very pleasant place, in line with the Sunny name. It's family owned and operated, and service is quick and friendly. Sunny. The chicken teriyaki is good. I've had better, but I've also had much worse. The chicken is cooked perfectly--a touch of charring but not burnt. The sauce is okay. This partly where Sunny falls down a little because the teriyaki sauce is mostly sweet (but not overly sweet) and salt. Something's missing. Again, I've had better, and I've had far worse. The salad was all nice and fresh lettuce and some carrots. No gross wilted leaves in sight. The rice was perfectly cooked and fresh. Food prices are reasonable. Those who complain about the food prices should try making this stuff at home and see how that works out price wise. But drinks were crazy expensive. $2.29 for a fountain soda. And the Mexican bottled coke (12 oz size) was the same price. If I were in the area with a teriyaki craving, I'd stop here again. But I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Honestly everything was bomb, the chicken was cooked perfectly and the rice was too. I am crying eating my chicken yakisoba. Its so homemade level. Its not flavorful and so much sauce. Meanwhile my husband is so sad and about to cry with his spicy chicken teriyaki. There are less pieces of chicken than what I usually got for the same price. Really if its good, I dont care how many pieces though. The sauce taste so weird. Its not teriyaki sauce or the bad version of it. These would be fine to me if someone made at home, not professional restaurant level. I came here for lunch since my work nearby had a power outage at their cafeteria. The venue is typical teriyaki joint and slightly disorganized, but clean enough. I ordered the chicken and gyoza. The chicken was definitely cooked through and came in a more than generous portion. Very slightly over cooked if anything. The teriyaki sauce was good imo and the thin not sticky thick variety. The gyoza were perfectly fried. The rice and salad were both standard. Each table had sriracha, salad dressing and teriyaki sauce too. I'd definitely eat here again. read more

I think these days, it's just as important to treat customers with dignity and respect as it is to have great food. I came in and ordered/paid for food with my son, sat down and 5 mins later, the lady comes over and says 'he can't eat any outside food here, you'll have to leave'. It was embarrassing, rude and felt silly that he couldn't eat his lunch while I ate mine from there. If she had said something before, that would've been ok obviously. Will never come back based on the fact there are a million teriyaki joints and I wouldn't waste my time on one that is so rude. read more

Since the change in management, I've only eaten here about 3 times and each time I've been disappointed. Twice I've ordered the chicken and chicken katsu teriyaki combo and and once was a split between chicken and spicy chicken teriyaki. The chicken teriyaki was a bit lacking in taste and there wasn't enough sauce to enjoy the chicken. The spicy chicken was alright as there was a lot of sauce to make up for the lack of taste in the chicken. The katsu was good but the size has gotten smaller. There's less white meat then previously which is a bit disappointing. The salad has also changed and not a good change. The dressing I'm okay with but quality of the salad was extremely disappointing. I remember it being cold and fresh. It had that nice crunch because of how fresh it was. The salad I've received was all room temperature, had a lot of brown edges, and just did not taste fresh. I loved this place before the management changed but I've decided to take my business elsewhere from now on. read more

I used to eat at Sunny Teriyaki at least once every couple of weeks, but sadly their quality seems to have taken a bit of a nosedive since their last ownership change. Sauces have become more sugary, portions are smaller, they canceled their old loyalty program (which I think they realized was a mistake, since they've now brought it back), and to top it off, the quality of the food is declining. My latest order of two spicy chicken breast teriyaki entrees came out as pure rubber, gross and tasteless. Even an amateur cook knows not to take chicken cutlets directly out of the freezer and throw them on a hot grill. For a professional restaurant that stakes its whole livelihood on its ability to cook chicken, it is unforgivable. I've tried giving the new ownership of this restaurant a shot over several visits, but unfortunately I think I have to call it quits. read more

I use to be a huge teriyaki fan... then when I decided it was time to kick bread, rice and pasta to the curb it became hard for me to still enjoy it as I once did. When I read that they had chicken with stir fry veggies on their menu (too many places overcharge for this and then screw it up), I got really excited. I drug my boyfriend all the way over here to get my fix. We got there around 8:30pm on a Friday night (clearly we lead real exciting lives) and got our order to go: Chicken teriyaki & Stir Fry Veggies Small Miso soup Side of Hot sauce* The total came to around $11... I still got a lot of rice with this dish :/ Next time I will ask for no rice. White rice with lots of teriyaki sauce is insanely addictive, but I don't need to go down that road again. They also sell big bottles of their teriyaki sauce and salad dressing. It will be hard to decide between this place and Yummy Teriyaki! Although... Yummy is open Sundays. And for anyone who cares the eggrolls and gyoza have pork and chicken in them... I wish one of them didn't contain pork :/ *Their homemade hot sauce is great! So this used to be my favorite teriyaki place around. Great big portions, fair prices, excellent food. Well something must have changed because it's expensive, tiny portions and absolute garbage. So I got what I normally get, which is spicy tofu teriyaki. It used to be a great stir fry type of thing with vegetables and tofu fried up together and then tossed with a delicious sweet and spicy sauce. What I got was literally just 9 little squares of deep fried tofu, with Sriracha squirted on top. And dry rice. How do you even make dry rice? I really don't understand how it could be this awful, have the new owners never made food before? How could anyone in their right mind look at this and say "oh yeah, that looks edible!". Steer clear of this place, it used to be good but it's just down right garbage now. Not even worth eating. Shameful, just absolutely shameful. read more

As a driver I eat at a lot of Teriyaki places. There are the good the great and the so-so. Never knew there was such a thing as actual bad Teriyaki until yesterday. This was just terrible. The soup was hot but tasted like dishwater so I did not finish it which is unusual for me. And it had corn in it? The teriyaki chicken was dry, stringy and chewy, and was obviously pre-cooked, drenched in sauce, and served lukewarm. Not even close to hot. The salad was pretty much all white lettuce with hardly any green at all and the dressing was so thin it ran through the lettuce and soaked in under my rice.
