There is counter seating as well in front of the kitchen I thought was cool and took a picture of it but we got sat on the other right side of the Restauraunt. Very popular location for breakfast and lunch, don't be surprised if there's a line to be seated. Tables opened up relatively fast though, so hang in there. No complaints about service as well. Unfortunately the food made for an overall underwhelming experience. I ordered the steak breakfast combo, which came out medium when I wanted medium rare which honestly wasn't a big deal for me if it weren't for the fact that it was seared incorrectly and showed all the signs of a steak that went directly from refrigerator to grill or was defrosted poorly. Also, my hashbrowns were crispy and warm on one side while cold on the other, suggesting frozen hash. Finally after all of that, my table's plates came out either lukewarm at best or cold. However I may have just been unlucky, given such rave reviews...I'll try to find a chance for a second shot, but for now? I think it's over rated. read more

Sunny side is a great place to bring your family for a Saturday brunch or even to come alone. There are attentive servers who don't mind chatting it up with you. (Is this place family-owned and operated? Feels like it.) The omelette I ordered (custom veggie) was quite tasty and my two cousins gobbled their food up too. The hash browns we're good and the coffee was A1. Still, they're just omelette so it wasn't anything to write home about. Stopped in here for breakfast and the selection of breakfast items was inviting and varied. I had a traditional breakfast with two sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection, two strips of bacon, toast, home fries, house coffee and an orange juice. The food was delivered quickly and it was hot, seasoned well, visually appealing, great service, and the price point was average for the area and competition. There was ample parking, the restaurant was clean and bright, not quite as modern as I like but very adequate for a breakfast eatery. This was the first time checking this place out. And it was sure busy at 9am, I tried to get there early so I didn't have to wait. You do seat yourself so that is nice, but also odd at the same time. Anyways the waitress was quick to come over and ask if I wanted something to drink. Once my friend arrived she was back again asking what we would like to eat. We asked her what is good and she gave us a brief run down of what she liked and didn't like. I ended up ordering the chicken fried steak and my friend ordered an omelette. I will say I am impressed because we got several different sides with our order. I wish they would have put it on the menu before I ordered so I didn't make the waitress tell me what they have but she was nice about it. The food came out pretty quickly, there was nothing I could say was wrong with my food. It was delicious and a huge amount for the price. I really enjoyed the coffee, and I think I had 4 or 5 cups so definitely worth the $2 for it. We walked out for under $18 before tip so that wasn't bad at all. The only weird thing was that there was a kid who was ringing up our total so that threw me off. I don't think he was of age but I could be wrong. This isn't a fancy place. It's a local joint. Prices are fantastic. The food is standard breakfast-fare with a decent amount of choices at a low price. Everything is cooked to order -- no bacon sitting under a warmer for hours. Moreover, the waitstaff are always friendly and my coffee cup is never empty (they don't even have to leave a carafe at my table). I can see no reason to go to the chains on the other side of I-35 like IHOP or Jimmy's Egg. To me, their food quality is inferior to Sunny Side Up and their prices seem higher. Why go to a franchise when you can have a bona fide family-owned restaurant for cheap? It's a no-brainer. read more

It took a while for them to take our order and when our food got there it was not warm enough and the food quality wasn't good neither one of us liked our food and it had been a while since I had eaten and I was really hungry but I didn't like it. I had an omelette with avocado cream cheese jalapeño and tomato, hashbrowns and biscuits and gravy, the biscuits seem to have been microwaved. I think the gravy was a mix. My husband tried to breakfast with the ham steak and the ham steak was not at all like ham steak should be cheap quality. read more

Ok, this is the sad part. I gave this 5 star cafe three stars, not because the great food and service we had was bad, it was what happened after we got our delish breakfast. I just hate it when a manager or owner of a restraunt decides to lose their temper with one of the wait staff in front of the whole restraunt when people are trying to eat. How about do the adult thing and take the person to the back and have the conversation in private, I am also sure it did not have to go on quite as long as it did. I must say the expressions on peoples faces were priceless. As for the food and our poor waitress, very, very good and very reasonably fast. The parking lot was packed when we drove up which is always a good sign early on a Saturday morning. This please is one of those hole in the wall places that has amazing food. It was standing room only but the husband and I found 2 seats at the bar so we jumped at them the service was fast and we got to watch the cooks work their magic in a precision dance they have mastered over time. The menu was great in variety and simplicity and you can see how fresh everything is while they cook. When the food came out we were not disappointed at all!' The portions are great for the money!
