SO happy with how this longevity cake turned out (I added the longevity noodle decor + candles to the cake myself). I put in the order in 4 days before I needed it and it was enough time. I just texted (626) 318-3870 my request and was given a quote almost immediately. I asked for a 6in lychee-flavored longevity cake ($56) + dragon piping (extra $30) and was told it'd be ready by when I wanted it. I paid a $20 deposit via Zelle when I placed the order. Once my favorite bakery and go to for family occasions- sadly whoever is running this place now is running it into the ground. The new decor, or rather lack of, is tacky, and trying to be a posh new age bakery according to the staff, none of which it is achieving unfortunately. The baked goods look sad and pitiful, and the old gray haired lady working the front counter is as rude as they come. What happened to Sunny and his sweet wife, who used to work the counter? What used to make this place so special was the Mom and Pop feel, knowing that you'd get a delicious moderately priced cake with excellent service. I've been meaning to try this bakery for sometime and finally remembered when it was my brother's birthday. I ordered an 8 inch taro cake (28$) and requested a crispy layer (an extra $3). I ordered near the time of opening on Sunday and the lady who answered felt rushed but got the order correct (she spoke English, too!), and I was able to pick up in 3 or so hours. If you show up thinking you can buy a whole cake, you might be severely disappointed since the selection is limited or there's none. The cake isn't as "tall" as Phoenix Bakery (our usual go-to), but I enjoyed their sponge bread and it's not too sugary (appeals to how Chinese preferences like it). Overall, I will come back again and try their other flavors like Pandan (they're known for their durian / mango cakes). Saw durian cake and a recommendation of Sunny Bakery on a Facebook group and decided that I definitely wanted to try it. I got a durian cake ($12) and brought it home and it was demolished. They have a good amount of durian in there; unfortunately, you'll still smell the durian through the nylon. The discernible musk eroding through the plastic. The box they put it in seems to hide it well though. They have some other desserts, rolls, egg tart, and some bread but after a quick glance, I didn't really see too much that caught my eye. Kinda wish they had more selection, but glad to know they have a bread and butter item they can produce well here. Card requires $20 minimum (may have a fee if under), otherwise cash.
