I am absolutely disgusted by the way I was treated at Raymond Opticians in New Rochelle,…read moreparticularly by an employee named Jessica. Jessica is completely unprofessional, rude and arrogant. My problems with Jessica started back in December when I went to pick up my glasses. She came out appearing visibly frazzled, rushed and upset. While handling my glasses in that state and handing them to me, she BROKE them. She then gave me another pair and basically said, "Here, just take these." About a month later, I returned and asked a very reasonable question: What happened to the original glasses that were broken? Instead of simply explaining what happened, Jessica immediately became extremely defensive. Since that incident, I have noticed a complete change in the way she treats me whenever I need assistance. She has been rude, dismissive and unprofessional. Today was the final straw. I requested my contact lens prescription because I wanted to purchase my contacts through Costco. The prescription that was sent to me was incomplete and was missing necessary information, including the diameter and other information needed to fill it. I called the office, explained that information was missing and was told they would send the corrected prescription right away. They didn't. After waiting approximately 30 minutes, I called back because I still had not received it. While I was simply trying to get this resolved, my calls kept getting disconnected. Eventually Jessica got on the phone. Instead of professionally asking how she could help me, she began speaking to me in what I perceived as an extremely sarcastic and mocking manner. She said things like, "What's the matter, Larissa? Are you upset? What's going on?" and told me I was yelling. The way she was speaking to me felt like she was mocking me and making fun of the fact that I was frustrated. I explained that I was in a loud environment and was not intentionally yelling. Rather than simply resolving the issue, she continued with the attitude and then said to me, "DO YOU WANT YOUR PRESCRIPTION OR NOT?" She then HUNG UP ON ME. I could not believe that an employee would speak to a customer that way over something as simple as requesting a complete copy of a prescription. I have also since heard from others that Jessica has a reputation for being rude to customers. I cannot personally speak to anyone else's experience, but based on the way she has repeatedly treated me, hearing that certainly did not surprise me. I genuinely do not understand how an employee can treat customers in such a rude, sarcastic, mocking and dismissive manner and continue to represent a business. This wasn't one bad interaction. My issues with her began when my glasses were broken in December, continued when she became defensive after I asked what happened to them, and culminated today with her mocking me, asking, "Do you want your prescription or not?" and HANGING UP ON ME. Completely unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. I have contacted Raymond Opticians management directly because I believe they need to know how customers are being treated at their New Rochelle location. I absolutely cannot recommend this location.

Now to start from the beginning - on the day of my appointment Dr. Kirkland, who's a nice person and an attentive doctor, was not there and I was seen by a man who was off the charts rude. Condescending. Gross, patronizing and sexist. He ordered me around to sit there. Not move. That the reason I couldn't see clearly (through the lenses that he decided were the right prescription for me) was because "I kept moving." I'm in my mid 40s and I actually know how to follow directions and I have the ability to sit still for under a minute... He was disgusting. I explained I was not comfortable that he would write the right prescription until we got it right on the left eye but he decided "the exam is over." And repeated it more loudly, "the exam is OVER." Dr. Kirkland saw me the following day, so okay, I thought we got the prescription right. Then the front desk said I had to pay for the order in full because they no longer do deposit or split payments since the pandemic so I said fine, it was over $450 out of pocket with the designer frames and the whatever transition/progression they add now. I was told likely one week. There is zero follow up, and they admit to this proudly that once they send an order to the insurance company it is on them to fill it. They do not keep track of pending orders for the same reason - they have no way to track it until a customer complains. I mean there is so much more I could say but this is no way to run a business. A business that actually affects your clients in such a freaking important way, it is my eyes, I have been driving blind for a whole month now and I just feel hatred and upsetness and hopelessness in my heart - thank you - don't go there. Don't. Go. There. Go to Target, Lens Crafter's, Cohen's, Grand Central Optical. Do not go here. Save yourself the headache and heartache and confrontation and anger. I literally have cried twice out of frustration. It is an uphill battle that - so far - has taken a month and counting and I am filing a report with the BBB. It's ZERO STARS. Not one. ZERO.

So when my husband needed glasses, I couldn't recommend him to the other places. He found MetroOptics in Parkchester. Upon arrival the place was packed, but not chaotic. We met Yvette and Angelica, who assisted my husband with superb customer service. He couldn't be more pleased with his new contact lenses and glasses. Aurora, took care of my mom. She knew as soon as she looked at my moms previous glasses- that they require a prism. That's impressive considering the 2 other places that had missed it. Glasses were ready in a few days . After picking up our glasses we can say these are the best we have owned. Aurora seems to value the individual in the community- you are not just a number. Professional, friendly, thoughtful, cordial and runs a great business. Can't wait to return.

Had to take them back because I could not see clear with them and they ended up being too heavy. I changed frames. Picked them up when those were ready. Again the prescription was off. Picked them up again when they were ready and at this time I requested another pair of lens. They felt too small. I had asked them from the very beginning if they had the same Ray Ban frames that I was actually wearing. They said No but some how they managed this time to be able to order the same frames after me going back and forth multiple times for about 6 months for adjustments. Finally I go to pick them up and I noticed that the lens were not completely sitting inside the frame on the bottom part on both sides. They said they will fix them. I go to pick them up and they were still the same and this time they give me some bullshit excuse that because of my prescription that's how they gonna fit and that's all they can do. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? By this time I am so fed up with their incompetence that I just took my glasses and walked out. I am going to take my glasses somewhere else and hope and pray to God that they can fix them for me. I will NEVER go back to them!!

I like that he takes a scientific approach and is happy to discuss options with me, for example my using daily disposable contacts for two days instead of one (he didn't recommend it but we discussed the risks). He's also changed his mind about some issues based on the latest research, which frankly is uncommon with medical professionals. I never felt any pressure or upselling. He does have the latest machines, but I see them as being to my benefit, for example he has a machine where he can detect macular degeneration and get color images of it. My only complaint is that he's older than I am, so at some point he'll retire and I'll have to find a new eye doctor. Went through that with dentists a couple of times already...

I will stick with Shady Rays that are much better!! They are WAY more affordable, more durable, don't scratch as easily, AND they have a replacement policy for lost or broken glasses that is extremely affordable, easy and beneficial. It's a shame because I did initially like the style of my Half Jacket 2.0 but thought for the money I spent they would last MUCH longer and not scratch up so easily!!

They'll be leaving the second week of June and they're not sure if they'll reopen elsewhere.
