Had 2 terrible experiences here. First time, they charged me for a DMV exam that I later learned could have been free. Second time, I booked an appointment for Medicaid eye exam. There are 3 giant signs on the frontage saying they take Medicaid, plus zocdoc confirmed, so I gave them a second shot. When I arrived they said not only that they don't take Medicaid, but that Medicaid doesn't cover any eye exams. I called Medicaid who confirmed they were lying. This place is amazing. Twice I had broken my glasses (with no backup) and needed a last minute frame to pop my lenses into and Jennifer found me one immediately and put it together for me. The first time she gave me a Gucci frame for only $200 (my currently lenses would ONLY fit it) and the second time I came in with my free prescription glasses with a very specific cat eye frame and she was able to find me a replacement right away, and it only cost me $100. I had an appointment scheduled with this office, I was told I was in network by my insurance company and there should be no co pay. When I called the man who answered was incredibly rude. He did not even ask my name to pull open my chart, and barely let me speak, he began shouting at me, SHOUTING when I asked about my insurance. I needed a copy of my son's and my prescription and the workers lost them. How can you lose two prescriptions? Then I was told they would continue looking for them and they would call me back whether they found them or not. No one called and that was a month ago. They seem to have either a very poor filing system or a desire not to give you a copy of prescriptions so they can make money charging for another eye exam. If you choose to do business here I advise you know your exact insurance benefits before they scam and overcharge you. I have been getting glasses/ contacts here for the past 5+ years and was satisfied in the past with their services but due to a recent experience with them I highly recommend staying away. I contacted them to reorder my contact prescription and they let me know the price, I informed them that my insurance allowance will cover that cost and the sales associate Jennifer claimed that the allowance was only allowed if I purchase a yearly supply. I believed her, so I continued with the transaction. I decided to call my insurance after to confirm if this was correct and they let me know that she lied to me and should have applied the full balance to my order rather than charge me. When I called back to confront them, she let me know that I could not cancel the order because it was processed and the best she could do was "throw in a box for free." THE BOX IS NOT FREE YOU OVERCHARGED ME AND MY INSURANCE. My parents also have gotten their glasses/ contacts here in the past and they are now auditing their receipts and found that they had been overcharged as well. Terrible business practices. read more

This place is shady and not straight forward with their pricing. I came in for an annual vision check up for my glasses and contacts. I was told the the fee would be $60 for my glasses with my insurance and $60 for my contacts. I later found out that fee for my glasses should have been $20 and I called to dispute the high charge. The sales associate I spoke to said she would call back and she never did. I call back a week later and now they are saying they only charge me for my contact exam and not my glasses. This is simply best place I've used for eye care needs. I'm glad I decided to go online to research a place instead of going where I did last year. I came for a contact lense exam due to a personal emergency. I have horrible vision and I only had one lense because I lost the other side. Not a pleasant experience. I needed something quick and affordable for my situation. He was kind and understanding of my situation. The eye exam service was quick. The cost of both the exam and supply is extremely affordable at 69 bucks. Every place I used before Optical Warehouse Outlet made me feel like I was getting ripped off. SCAM ALERT Optical Warehouse: 1) Told me they accepted my insurance plan. 2) Charged me more than my copay (insurance confirmed they overcharged me). 3) Did not file a claim with my insurance, so my insurance has no record of the appointment. 4) Gave me a glasses exam - when they found out I was there for contacts, they shredded the glasses prescription (both should have been covered by insurance). 5) Did not give me a complete exam and gave me an incorrect prescription - the doctor was in a hurry - I had to go to a different eye doctor to get a proper exam and prescription. 6) Ignored/disconnected any calls from my insurance provider to resolve the claim issue. They did the same thing to my wife, except they overcharged her for frames/lenses, also. I'd rate them 0 stars if I could. read more

I have been going there for years because they are close and do try to work with you. After I noticed my 5 yr old might have vision issues I quickly went to them to get her examined. Their doctor is very sweet and great with kids so this review has nothing to do with the doctor. The problem was when it was time to get my child frames and lenses. The frames are under the counter so the sales person pulls out different frames that the child then tries on. Given that I have no idea about frames for children I chose a pair that the sales person gave me because I figured they gave me the right size for her. Then it was time to pick out the lenses for the frame. The doctor wanted to build up the prescription over time so the lenses were going to be changed in 6 months. The sales person explained that I should add blue light protection, and special glass that wont shatter when the child breaks them, also anti glare is a good idea. Since like every parent I wanted her first pair of glasses to be great I went along with the recommendations unaware of what is typical. The sales person wrote out the prices on a piece of paper and the total was def shocking (close to $900). The frames were $300 and the rest was the lens price. We paid it and left. A week later the glasses came in and my child tried them on at the park to make sure everything was ok. Since I also wear glasses I noticed a yellow tint to her lenses. The yellow tint turned everything gray and altered the colors. Went back to the place the same day and the same sales girl said that its the blue light filter and that they can change it so that there is not yellow tint. Ghee, shouldnt they have told me this in the first place. They took the glasses back and I waited another week for the blue light tint to be changed. Meanwhile that was a red flag that something was off w that place so I made an apt with the opthamologist to doible check the prescription. The specialist said that her current one wasnt helping her vision and gave me a new much stronger one. So I went back to the optician to change the lense. They said that I will have to pay for the lense again if I decide to change it. So I grabbed the frames and left the store. I went to BJs optical and was told the frames from the optical Warehouse were way too big for her face, more for a teenager than for a 5 year old child and that the lenses they sold me for basically $600 (just for the lenses) would cost me $60 at BJs. I ended up paying $120 for both the frames and lenses and I learned 'anti shatter' glass is actually a standard and shouldnt cost exTra money. What is most insane is that this place sold me crazy expensive lenses when they knew we would need to change them in a few months anyways. Whats even more upsetting is that I am finding out that I should have been given 30 day warranty to change the lense with no charge. Thats standard protocol with optical stores. I get that stores like these need to make money but to do it with children is absolutely horrendous. Now I have a pair of frames that I cannot use, lenses that arent right for my child and it cost $900. I wonder how many children who got their glasses there are walking around with the wrong size frames or with the wrong lenses. read more

This place is about a 30 min walk from my house but I would rather go here to get my eye glasses, contacts, and exams over any eye place closer to me any day. Tony is a very good salesman in that he is very patient and helpful in frame selection. He doesn't pressure you to spend more than you'd want to. Also, he doesn't get flustered even with your most nit picky requests. He is very understanding and really cares about what you want as a customer. His prices for contacts are also unbeatable! Contacts can even be shipped to your house upon request. Another thing is that Tony is very diligent in updating you on the status of your eye glasses and/contact orders, which I find very important since I've been encountered other places that don't unless YOU reach out first.
