My boyfriend ordered the chicken and waffles and when he was served his plate, we both looked at each other like "what the heck is that??" It was the skimpiest piece of chicken ever. When I think chicken and waffles I imagine a big juicy piece of fried chicken. I wish I had taken a photo. I ordered the California Sandwich. It was fine. Nothing special. I stopped in here for breakfast on a Sunday morning on our way out of Sonoma. We got there at 8:30am and were able to get parking right outside easily. If you want to dine in you order out front and then they take you back to the seating area. The patio was really cute. There were plenty of tables and nice heaters next to almost each on to keep folks warm in the colder months. The food came out SO quick! It was colorful and delicious as well. The tostada was amazing and so was the breakfast sandwich. We also got a side of ham which I think was a bit expensive for the amount you got, but also very tasty. I'll try to keep it short - I visited at the end of March and while I loved the outdoor seating area, it was just a little too brisk to sit outside. There isn't much seating inside so I felt pretty cramped. It's an order at the counter, take a number, and someone will bring your food to you kind of place. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and Bellini, both of which were great. Personally, I thought the prices were pretty steep but I guess it is a great location right in Sonoma Plaza and the ingredients seemed fresh. I think there are some other breakfast/brunch options in the area that are a bit more get-what-you-pay-for but this is a good option none-the-less. read more

Sunflower Caffe definitely exceeded my expectations for breakfast, two days in a row. The eggs benedict had a super lemony/acidic/ delicious hollandaise and large side salad. The peaches and cream waffle had perfectly ripe peaches and a slightly sour peach sauce which offset the sweetness of the whipped cream and syrup. The lattes came with cute art which is always fun! The food was great, but almost more importantly, the service was incredibly fast and the ambience was great. With a group of 6 people, we only had to wait about 10 minutes for all of our food and coffee to be brought out to us. After being denied at one place because there was not enough room, we settled into Sunflower Caffe as some of them had been before. The wait staff was really nice to wipe down a table for us as the outdoor patio was still wet from all the rain. We settled into a nice booth after placing our order in front. I debated between the smoked duck sandwich and the California sandwich. The cashier recommended the CA sandwich, and glad I chose that! It came out and it was so delicious! Our entrees were the American Breakfast, Roasted Cauliflower Wrap, Sunflower Grilled Cheese and the Smoked Duck Sandwich. While the American Breakfast was yummy, it was quite small, so just a heads up. The wrap was absolutely amazing, the flavors complimented each other well. I added ham to my grilled cheese and was glad I did because it was extremely rich. I think without a bit of protein, it would have possibly been too rich, but it all worked out. The thick cut ham on that sourdough tough, just amazing. We came today, a party of three, to have lunch at the cafe. We were told that the tables in the patio were full except the tables for two. We agreed to sit inside. Most sandwiches were around $25, a little high for the venue. But the food orders arrived quickly. Unfortunately, the service was very hit-and-miss. While plenty of servers passed our table, no one checked on us. We had to flag down a server whenever we needed something. No one came to refill the water glasses. I had to ask for a place setting of utensils. I had to ask for more coffee. I had to ask for boxes to take our leftover lunches. But we were promptly given the bill. Not as good as the old version of Sunflower Cafe, which we frequently visited over the past 6 years for breakfast and occasionally lunch. Back then, the food was consistent, the staff vibrant and welcoming. I have eaten at the "new" Sunflower three times. Our visit yesterday for lunch was probably our last. The service was poor, the quality of the food subpar for a Wine Country venue, and we are still trying to figure out how a sandwich, a salad (the ONLY salad on the menu, btw) one non-alcohol beverages, a cider drink and a $6 dessert produced an $80 bill! The Health and Happiness fee is what? We never got to see the bill and the server mumbled the total amount which I had to have repeated. Thank goodness a 18% tip was not baked in. Our server was slow, forgetful, and she mumbled as few words as possible throughout. Not even a "Hello, I'm ___" when she finally arrived at the table. Busy place, we stood in line for ten minutes given it was Labor Day weekend (or it's busy everyday not sure). Love the logo and the outside seating overlooking the park. The buttermilk biscuit sandwich with eggs and bacon and the gluten free oat waffle were both delicious. My husband commented that the biscuit sandwich is the best he's had and he's hard to please being a hobbies baker himself. Coffee was on point for us and we're coffee snobs. I started with the Watermelon Frose, which I would not order again. They did not get the flavor balance right and it came out very sweet. Out front they have a few tables, but currently the majority of seating is in the back patio. There is a small hostess stand near the entrance where you order, then they take you through a hallway to the back. The patio is lovely, a cute little garden filled with plants, trees, and flowers. Lots of little tables surround a central fountain, and calming instrumental music played in the background. The space is definitely the main reason to visit. Crowd: It was fairly busy, with about half of the patio tables full. We waited in line for a bit out front, but that may have been a result of the strange ordering system. Service: Not sure if it is just because of COVID, but they had an odd set-up for ordering. They have you order everything at the front, then take you to your table, and provide you a placard. Food is delivered to you, but no other service at the table. It is honestly the worst of both worlds, as there is no one to naturally ask assistance from and it is awkward getting up to go back to the front. We stopped by this restaurant with friends. We were planning to dine in but the backyard is full. Seeing our hungry kids, the front desk suggested we order takeout, which we agreed to. While waiting for our takeout order, my friends asked a waiter is the seats on the hallway closed for everyone? The waiter directed us to speak with the front desk manager, who happened to be the same person who suggested the takeout option. he encouraged us to dine in and assured us our orders would be taken to the table with Togo boxes. Once seated, we began to eat, another manager approached and abruptly asked us to leave.
