At Esquires, I don't know what it is, machine, bowl, care, milk or what...... but just the most lushest velvety foam ever. Never had a bad cap and will literally drive 20 mins out of my way past 10 coffee joints for their cap fare. I never get it to go, only china plz, sit outside and enjoy the lazy goings on. I always sprinkle generous amounts of chocolate on top (not cocoa-yech). They give you this tiny coke spoon and you'll use it on that billowing mound. Don't know why so many Eq. have closed. This one remains tucked away in a cozy location on Crescent road. Catch it before or after the beach. Especially cozy inside on a rainy day. TIP: grab a heavenly, warm, gooey, real french linen, 1M calorie cinnamon bun down below at Fieldstones. Thats it .....I've talked myself into both....leaving now with my best 4 legged friend. Pull apart was lighter than I expected. Other place's pull apart was so buttery, cheesy, however, this one was flaky and buttery, so, if you prefer light texture pull apart, you will like it. Cream cheese filling was nice accent. Pistachio loaf was more dense than I expected. It had pistachio whipped cream on top, so, cream helped loaf texture more smooth. Loaf had strong pistachio flavor. I liked whipped cream and loaf combination. Pesto and mozzalera swirl was a bit too salty for me. Dough was super flaky and buttery, I liked the dough texture so much, but filling could be more minder. Unfortunately, I did not have ferrero rocher danish. I heard that this one was the best. Mousse was so delicious and dough was very flaky and buttery. Overall, I think their pastries are always outstanding and good quality. The place was extremely busy and could not get a table. Next time, I wish I could dine-in.

I've never had one so amazingly light, soft and perfectly just-sweet-enough. Wonder if they will ship them...? We stopped by Leaven for breakfast one morning on our trip getting a savory crêpe each and a couple pastries. Didn't even make it though breakfast before we knew we had to do a repeat the very next day because it was so good. Crepes are French style and are clearly made with skill and talent. The space is bright and cheery with very friendly staff. I see other reviews mentioning waits during busy times or complaints but experienced nothing of the sort. We were a bit off peak and didn't have that issue but I can honestly say I'd be HAPPY to wait for the food at Leaven. This is really something special and whoever is behind it has a gift.

Service was 5/5 very friendly. Bus your own table type of place. Drip coffee was standard. Does get a long line that fluctuates with ferry arrival times. I ordered an iced latte with almond and the person at counter asked if I wanted oat like they didn't hear me. Oh well, got a cous cous salad, kid wanted a cookie and breakfast panini. The cookie was alright, not very sweet ( oatmeal raisin) and kind of dry. The greek cous cous salad wasn't bad - could use more veggies as it was 80/20 cous cous to veg and it was pretty filling! The breakfast panini looked good but O had the other half my kid couldn't finish and I liked how crisp the bun was and the maple bacon was good but something about the eggs reminded me of the eggs from the Ikea breakfast which imo is not good. Next time I'll just do coffee & carrot cake ( it did look good!) While the food we just had was okay, i would say the space is more like being in someone's house. Large space with lots of seating and tables. There is a tv, books and board games so a good place to hang out. Good sized parking lot and outdoor seating.

She only addressed the guy. I was in shock at the level of disregard this person had at a repeat customer who took time out of their schedule to come to their establishment. I was not even going to complain, only correct them, and overlook the $1 extra charge. Wondering what would have happened if I was allergic? These types of people should not be in the food service industry when it come to safe guarding customers and ensuring quality control.

We ordered a few lattes made with their in-house syrups, and every single one of them was incredible. We loved them so much we went back for them again and again over the weekend we were there. We also tried their chorizo burrito and donuts, which were both outstanding. I honestly want to go back to the island just to eat here again! The ambiance of the place is awesome. It is super kid-friendly outside, featuring a wonderful yard with plenty of toys and things to do, which makes it incredibly relaxing for families. To top it all off, the staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and helpful throughout our visits. I highly, highly recommend checking out Medio Cafe if you are anywhere near the San Juan Islands. We then tried to order a salad, and were told that oh also that wasn't available. honestly felt like they just didn't feel like making anything. The only real option left was smoothies and açaí bowls. We ended up ordering three açaí bowls for the kids and a smoothie. At around $15 per bowl, the portions were shockingly small--only about a quarter full with five banana slice and three strawberries. one bowl was missing almond butter. The protein* smoothie couldn't be made properly because they were out of the protein powder. They offered to substitute collagen instead - not the same thing but ok. no discount. no acknowledgement. I understand that restaurants run out of items occasionally, but between most of the menu being unavailable, the outrageous price for the quality of the output, missing ingredients, and the complete lack of an apology or acknowledgment, this was a very disappointing experience.
